WHILE DRIVING ENGINE CUT OUT CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL IN TRAFFIC. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR #2. SAME ISSUE HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 5000 MILES LATER THEN AGAIN 10000 MILES LATER. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 45MPH AND THE CAR STARTS VIBRATING. ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOSE ACCELERATION WHILE MY FOOT IS STILL ON THE GAS. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER BEFORE THE CAR LOST MOMENTUM AND STALLED OUT. THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON. HAD NO WARNING AT ALL. I SHUT THE CAR OFF, WAITED ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES AND TRIED TO START IT AGAIN. IT TURNED OVER BUT AFTER IT STRUGGLED TO. THE WRENCH LIGHT THEN WENT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR MORE TIMES! EACH WITH NO WARNING! I HAVE LOOKED ON A NUMBER OF SITED THAT HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF NEAR CRASH CASES AND ALL WITH NO WARNING. I WAS DRIVING MY WIFE AND NEWBORN CHILD HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL WHEN MY CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION. IT WAS AN UNSAFE SITUATION AND I RESPONDED BY PULLING MY VEHICLE INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND STARTED THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION 2 MORE TIMES ON MY WAY HOME. THE WRENCH ICON CAME ON WHEN THE INCIDENTS OCCURRED. I BELIEVE IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FORD MUST ADDRESS. THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THE VEHICLE IS ABOUT TO LOSE ALL ACCELERATION. *TR
MOVING ALONG AT 40MPH WHEN CAR SUDDENLY JERKS AND LOSES POWER. ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON BUT MY CAR STALLED OUT IN TRAFFIC. TURNED KEY OFF AND BACK ON-CAR STARTED AND LIGHT WAS OFF. A MINUTE DOWN THE ROAD AND CAR DID SAME THING AGAIN. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN 5 DAYS LATER. VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE CAR LOSES THROTTLE POWER COMPLETELY. I DO NOT DARE GO DOWN INTERSTATE WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED BUT THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO GENERATE A FAILURE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 21,000.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED WORKING. PULLED THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AVOIDING ACCIDENT. TURNED CAR OFF. TURNED CAR BACK ON WORKING NORMALLY. 1 MILE LATER SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. THIS HAPPENED 12 TIMES IN 12 MILE STRETCH. THROTTLE BODY IS BAD. THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. *TR
WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE MOTOR CUT OFF ON ME, I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE I HAD JUST GOT OFF OF THE INTERSTATE , I MANAGED TO BE ABLE TO PULL ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD SET THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR. IT STARTED AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER AND THEY CHECKED AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY FAULT CODES. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BOTTLE AND I HAD IT REPLACED, HAVEN'T DROVE IT YET TO SEE IF THAT TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I GOT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT OTHER PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND SOME ON COULD GET INJURED OR WORST. *TR
ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RPM'S IMMEDIATELY DROPPED TO A ROUGH IDLE. ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE WAS LOST, I PULLED OVER ON THE HIGHWAY, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS IN LIMP MODE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE ENGINE WAS IDLING VERY ERRATICALLY AND SHAKING, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE CAR, IT RESTARTED OK AND DROVE. IT SUDDENLY DID THE SAME THING 2 MORE TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. THE OBD2 CODE WAS P2111, THE DRIVE BY WIRE THROTTLE BODIES ON THESE CARS ARE FAULTY. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
HAD NOTICED SEVERAL TIMES THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE AFTER PUSHING THE GAS. LATER THAT AFTERNOON, WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOPLIGHT, THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING AND LOST ALL POWER. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED IT OFF. WHEN I RESTARTED, THE ENGINE SEEMED TO RUN NORMALLY BUT STILL HESITATED TO GO WHEN THE GAS WAS PRESSED. I GOT THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD - "A COMMON THING ON THESE CARS". FORD IS REFUSING TO COVER THE REPLACEMENT UNDER WARRANTY, CLAIMING THAT THIS IS NOT PART OF THE DRIVE TRAIN - THOUGH ADMITTING THAT THE CAR WILL NOT FUNCTION WITHOUT THE PART. *TR

MY 2010 FORD FUSION V6 SEL SURGED, SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND STALLED OUT. A LIGHT SHAPED LIKE WRENCH APPEARED. I PULLED OVER AND LET IT REST FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS, THEN TRIED TO START. IT STARTED UP AND I DROVE HOME. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, I FOUND MANY, MANY OTHER FORD CUSTOMERS WITH MY YEAR VEHICLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. DEALERS WERE TELLING THEM IT'S A BAD THROTTLE BODY. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON MY ENGINE RETURNED TO IDLE SPEED AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT IT OFF, AND RESTART IT. THE NEXT DAY THIS HAPPENED AGAIN TWICE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I READ THE CODE AND IT WAS P2112 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK SHUT. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THERE ARE APPARENTLY SOME KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS PART ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED EMISSIONS WARRANTY. I WAS LUCKY THAT THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE I WAS TURNING OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. *TR
ON 7/22/2012 AT APPROXIMATELY 2000 HOURS MY FAMILY WAS TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND ON GEORGIA STATE ROUTE 3 - US HWY. 41 IN ROCKY FACE, GEORGIA WHEN OUR VEHICLE (2010 FORD FUSION AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) SUDDENLY WITHOUT NOTICE WENT FROM A SOLID CRUISING SPEED OF 40MPH TO AN ABRUPT HALT - NOSE OF THE CAR ACTUALLY WENT FORWARD TOWARDS THE GROUND SO ABRUPTLY THAT IT MADE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE STALLED (STILL BARELY RUNNING) IN THE LANE OF TRAVEL AND WOULD NOT GET ANY THROTTLE ACCELERATION. MY FAMILY AND VEHICLE WAS ALMOST STRUCK BY ON COMING MOTORISTS FROM THE REAR DUE TO THE ABRUPT STOPPING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD BARELY GET ANY THROTTLE ACCELERATION. AFTER THE GEORGIA STATE PATROL TROOPER CAME TO ASSIST THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 25 MPH WITHOUT SUDDENLY STALLING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON ALONG WITH AN ORANGE WRENCH SYMBOL. WAS DRIVING ON AT 65MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY AND PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED RESPONDING TO THE ACCELERATOR. THE ENGINE DROPPED TO 750 RPM AND WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING IN RESPONSE TO MY ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE SLOWED QUITE RAPIDLY BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND I HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID A CRASH. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO IT HAPPENING AND NO SOUNDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE INCIDENT. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING I KNOW THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING IT, THE VEHICLE DROVE PROPERLY. WHEN I RETURNED HOME, I CHECKED FOR ANY CODES AND FOUND THERE WERE NONE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD "IT IS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL; WE KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN MANY INCIDENTS LIKE THIS". THIS WAS REPORTED YESTERDAY IN ANOTHER INCIDENT BUT NOT...
THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR IN THAT IT WILL COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE TRAVELING AT ANY SPEED WHETHER 15 MPH OR 70 MPH, WITH NO WARNING. THIS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS HARM ESPECIALLY TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE WHERE YOU CAN BE HIT FROM BEHIND AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE CAR WILL RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES, BUT WHEN DOING SO WILL CANCEL THE ENGINE SERVICE CODE P2111 SO THAT THE DEALER CANNOT ID THE PROBLEM. IF YOU EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM, MAKE THEM KEEP DRIVING IT UNTIL IT HAPPENS TO THE SERVICE PERSON. ISSUE IS DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY -POTENTIOMETER. THE COMPUTER CAN'T TELL HOW MUCH THE THROTTLE IS OPEN SO IT SHUT DOWN. MY TEENAGER WAS DRIVING THIS CAR AND WAS ALMOST RE-ENDED TWICE. VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. WAS DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT CAR SUDDENLY STALLED WHEN ACCELERATING. HAD TO PARK AND RESTART CAR TO REENGAGE ENGINE. WRENCH AND ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. CAR STALLED OUT THREE MORE TIMES GOING AROUND THE BLOCK. DIAG CODE WAS P0455. DEALER INITIALLY REPLACED PURGE VALVE. ON WAY HOME FROM DEALERSHIP REPAIR, ENGINE CUT OUT GOING 70 ON HIGHWAY. RETURNED CAR TO DEALER. DIAG CODE WAS P2112. DEALER REPLACED THROTTLE BODY. CAR SEEMS TO BE RUNNING NORMALLY NOW. THIS WAS A SCARY PROBLEM AND A HUGE POSSIBLE SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THE VEHICLE CUTS OUT UNEXPECTEDLY AT RANDOM TIMES. *TR
I ACCELERATED AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT AND AS I SHIFTED FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR THE CAR JERKED AND I HAD NO POWER AT ALL THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT WHEN I PUT MY FOOT INTO THE ACCELERATOR NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS TRAVELING AT 60MPH IN MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN THE 2010 FORD FUSION LOST ACCELERATION. THEN THE CAR STARTED TO CHUG SO I PULLED OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER BEFORE THE EXIT. IT WAS NOT A FULL SHOULDER AS THE CAR WAS STILL OCCUPYING HALF OF A LANE. A TEN-WHEELER TRUCK WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME AND FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO STOP.THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS CAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH. I HEARD A THUMP, THE WRENCH LITE CAME ON AND THEN I LOST ACCELERATION POWER. I HAD TO COAST OFF THE FREEWAY AND COME TO A STOP. I STILL HAD STEERING AND BRAKES BUT NO POWER. I HAD CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. I HAVE READ SO MANY OF THESE REPORTS AND I FEEL, LIKE THE OTHERS, THAT IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED! FORD NEEDS TO GET ON THE BALL AND MAKE THIS A RECALL. *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE CAR WILL JUST LOSE ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE, THE CAR IS STILL RUNNING, BUT WILL NOT ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO FIND SOME PLACE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. THEN RESTART THE ENGINE AND THEN IT WILL RUN GOOD. THE ISSUE HAPPENS SOMETIMES UP SIX TIMES IN ONE DAY, AND THEN YOU CAN GO A WEEK WITHOUT AN ISSUE. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE WITH SPEEDS AS LOW AS 20 MPH ALL THE WAY UP TO 70 MPH. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE IT WOULD APPEAR TO POSSIBLY BE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. APPARENTLY THIS THROTTLE BODY USES A SERVO TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE BUTTERFLY THAT ALLOWS AIR INTO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. I FEEL THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE DRIVING AND IT LOSES THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND YOU CAN NOT FIND A SAFE PLACE...
2010 FORD FUSION/JUST BOUGHT IT IN FEBRUARY 2012. THIS IS THE FIRST PROBLEM I HAVE HAD. I WAS GOING TO WORK ON I-40 AND WAS SETTING THE CRUISE AT APPROX. 60-62 MPH AND ALL THE SUDDEN IT JERKED A LITTLE AND STALLED/WHEN I DEPRESSED THE GAS IT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. THE SPEED KEPT DROPPING....I HAD TO CROSS OVER THREE VERY BUSY LANES OF EARLY MORNING COMMUTER TRAFFIC AND WAS SCARED SOMEONE WOULD HIT ME BEFORE I COULD MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD TO CUT THE CAR OFF AND RE START. DROVE OFF TO WORK WITH NO PROBLEMS THAT DAY. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I SEE WHERE NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE FORD FUSION AND HAVE FEARED FOR THEIR SAFETY DRIVING THE VEHICLE. MECHANICS HAVE SAID IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THAT FORD HAS HAD TO REPLACE NUMEROUS OF THESE....
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STALLED OUT, WENT INTO SAFE MODE, AND HAD TO COAST OFF THE ROAD. HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE REPAIR SHOP. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND ATTEMPTED TO CLEAN IT. AFTERWARDS THE CAR STALLED AGAIN AND THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. JUST PURCHASED A USED MERCURY MILAN WITH 31,600 MILES ON AND HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OCCUR. FORD EVIDENTLY HAS AN ISSUE WITH THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLIES ON THESE MODEL OF CARS THAT CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS. *TR
I AND MY CHILDREN WERE TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND I ALL OF A SUDDEN I COULD NOT GIVE THE CAR ANY GAS. THE MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE GAS. SO I COASTED UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER. AS I SLOWED DOWN, THE CAR SHUTTERED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. IT RAN FINE FOR AWHILE. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND AGAIN (AS I WAS ENTERING AN INTERSECTION, TURNING ONTO A MAJOR HIGHWAY, AND ROUNDING A CURVE) UNTIL IT WAS HAPPENING 3-4 TIMES IN A TRIP. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY. IT RAN OK FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS AND THEN BECAME WORSE THAN IT WAS BEFORE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. SO NOW TIME WILL TELL. I WAS/AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE FACT...

THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TODAY I WAS AT A RED LIGHT WHEN MY CAR DECIDED TO ACT UP. THE LIGHT HAD JUST TURNED GREEN AND I HAD STARTED TO DRIVE WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY CAR LOST POWER. IT STRUGGLED THEN JUST STALLED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND I NOTICED THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON.
