WHILE GOING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES. MY CAR STALLED OUT SHUT OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL AND STARTED SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLE. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND WAITED ABOUT FIVE MINUTES AND STARTED IT BACK UP DROVE MAYBE ANOTHER TEN MILES AND IT STARTED AGAIN. ON THE FOLLOWING DAY I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY MADE IT SEEM AS IF I HAD NO IDEAL OF WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. ONCE THEY REALIZED I KNEW THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY THAT WAS THE PROBLEM I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT A PART THAT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET. I TOOK THE TIME TO TALK TO SEVERAL REPS AT FORD AND I WAS TOLD THAT IF THE MECHANIC DID NOT THINK IT WAS DEFECTIVE THEN THERE WAS...
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH. THE ENGINE LOST POWER AS THE ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT WENT ON. PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR HAD NO RESPONSIVE. I HAD TO NAVIGATE FREEWAY TRAFFIC WITH NO ENGINE POWER TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AS I CAME TO A STOP THE CAR JERKED A BIT BEFORE I PUT IT IN PARK. I TURNED IT OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE. AFTER TURNING THE CAR BACK ON I GOT BACK ON THE ROAD, ONLY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN AGAIN A FEW MILES LATER. *TR
DRIVING THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED INTO A LIMP MODE. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FINAL TIME WAS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AT 55MPH. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE GETTING REAR ENDED BY TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND. THIS IS DANGEROUS CONDITION! AFTER VISITS TO 2 FORD DEALERS, THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY MILEAGE, (NOT TIME), SO WE ENDED UP PAYING OUT ALMOST $500 FOR THE REPAIR AND CAR RENTAL. *TR
AS I WAS LEAVING WORK AND PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT, THE ENGINE SPUTTERED, CHOKED, WHEEZED AND EVENTUALLY WOULD NOT GO OVER 10-15 MPH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE DIED. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED THE NEXT DAY TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY THAT HAD CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND ALSO HAD CREATED A LOT OF DEBRIS IN THE FUEL INTAKE SYSTEM. CLEANING OF THE FUEL INTAKE SYSTEM AND REPLACEMENT OF THE THROTTLE BODY WAS AROUND $700. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AT THE TIME UNTIL I SAW ON THE NEWS THAT NHTSA HAD OPENED AN INQUIRY INTO THIS POSSIBLE DEFECT ON THE FUSIONS, SO I WANTED TO ADD THAT I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AS WAS BEING INVESTIGATED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS AND TURNING LEFT. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,500.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR ROADWAY AT 50 MILE PER HOUR,THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN, ALMOST STALLING, AND I AM UNABLE TO START VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. *TR
DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE ABOUT 55 MPH AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON ENGINE LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE I.E. WENT INTO SAFE MODE AND HAD TO MANEUVER THROUGH TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER. THIS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES FROM JULY THROUGH AUGUST 2012 ON VARIOUS TYPES OF ROADWAYS (HIGHWAY, NEIGHBORHOOD ROADS) UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP. CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE PROBLEM HAS GONE AWAY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT A STEADY SPEED WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE GAS PEDAL STOPPED RESPONDING, ALMOST AS IF I WAS IN NEUTRAL. I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER. IT TOOK A FEW TRIES OF RESTARTING THE CAR IN ORDER TO GET IT GOING. THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT WEEK. *TR
AS I CAME TO A FULL STOP AT A SIGNAL THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED - NO LIGHTS DISPLAYED ON THE DASH. SECOND TIME I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT APPROX 5-10 MPH AND IT DIED AS I CAME OUT OF TURN. BOTH TIMES IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. FORD DEALER DID COMPLETE CHECK AND EXTENDED ROAD TEST ON 2-5-13 BUT COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND THERE WERE NO COMPUTER ERRORS GENERATED. BOTH INCIDENCES THE FAILURE OCCURED DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC ON MAJOR STREETS WITHIN THE CITY. MY CONCERN (OTHER THEN IT DYING) IS THAT NOTHING LIT UP OR DISPLAYED ON THE DASH TO INDICATE THE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING. IT WASN'T UNTIL I PUT ON FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL I REALIZED IT WAS NOT RUNNING. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH. SECOND OCCURRENCE. FIRST WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR EARLIER. IMMEDIATELY RESTARTS AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. EACH TIME, TOOK TO DEALER, WHO READ CODE AND REPROGRAMMED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON I-49 SO., APPROX. 60 MPH IN PEAK MORNING TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE STALLED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. NOTICED A "WRENCH" ICON LIT ON DASH. TURNED OFF ENGINE AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES, RE-STARTED ENGINE. ALL CLEAR ON DASH, SO CONTINUED ON TO WORK. CALLED HUB CITY FORD AND BROUGHT CAR IN THE NEXT MORNING. THE "THROTTLE BODY" WAS CHANGED. NO OTHER WARNING OR LIGHTS CAME ON. *TR
I WAS ON THE FREEWAY WHEN ENGINE SPEED SUDDENLY WENT TO IDLE. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND ALMOST GOT INTO A CRASH TRYING TO GET TO THE ROAD SIDE. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD AND IT COST ME $500.00 THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY,GO FIGURE. DRIVING 55-60 MPH ON FREEWAY WHEN CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER. IT DID NOT STALL. IT WOULD JUMP AHEAD INCHES AT A TIME IF I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR BUT VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS CARS BEHIND ME HAD NO WARNING THAT I WAS GOING TO SUDDENLY JUST STOP. IT TOOK ME 10 MINUTES AT LEAST TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND THIS ONLY BECAUSE A LONG HAUL TRUCKER FINALLY REALIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND BLOCKED TRAFFIC FOR ME TO LIMP TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. I PURCHASED MY CAR USED WITH ABOUT 43000 MILES ON IT AND AFTER ONLY A WEEK OF HAVING IT I WOULD OCCASIONALLY NOTICE THAT WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING THE ENGINE WOULD SEEM TO JUMP AT CERTAIN POINTS WHERE IT WOULD LIKE PULL YOU UP OUT OF YOUR SET AS IF YOU HAD A LIGHT PUSH FROM BEHIND YOU, IT DOESN'T HAPPEN A LOT IT ALSO VARIES AT WHAT SPEEDS IT HAPPENS AT. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT AT THE TIME BUT IT SEEMS TO DO IT EVERY SO OFTEN WHERE IT WILL JUMP AFTER I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL OR WHILE I AM STILL ACCELERATING. *TR

DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING TO WORK AND THE ENGINE KEPT LOOSING POWER TOOK IT TO FORD ONCE AND THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD FUSE GOT IT BACK AND DROVE IT TO WORK AGAIN AND THE ENGINE STALLED OUT 7 TIMES WITHIN 2 MILES I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO FORD AND THEY SAID MY THROTTLE BODY BROKE AND NEEDED REPLACED. *TR

HAD MY OIL CHANGED JAN 2013 AND WAS TOLD MY TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY AFTER HAVING IT CHANGED PRIOR 3 MONTHS BEFORE AND TOLD IT WAS FINE. THEN NOTICED FEB 09 ISH 2013 THAT THERE WAS A GOOD AMOUNT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID ON MY GARAGE FLOOR. WAS TOLD THIS HAPPENS ALOT ON THE 2010 FUSION AND IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL WITH THE PROBLEMS IT CONTINUES TO HAVE. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH AND MY ACCELERATOR BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. THE RPM'S DROPPED TO IDLE, ENGINE DID NOT STOP RUNNING BUT WOULD ONLY COAST. THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ICON CAME ON AND LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I COASTED TO A STOP AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK WHICH IS WHEN THE CAR BEGAN JERKING. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, BUT IT WAS A ROUGH RESTART. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE OFF AND IT APPEARED TO RUN FINE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT MANY OWNERS OF THE FORD FUSION HAVE HAD THIS RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THEIR THROTTLE BODY. THIS ALSO IS AFFECTED BY OTHER MODELS OF 4 CYLINDER ENGINES. WHILE TURNING LEFT ON A GREEN ARROW MY ACCELERATOR BECAME UNRESPONSIVE, ENGINE DID NOT STOP RUNNING BUT WOULD ONLY COAST @ ABOUT 2 MPH, WRENCH LIGHT ICON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WAS JERKING DURING THIS SLOW COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSECTION. ONCE AGAIN I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED IT. THE PROBLEM DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN THAT DAY. I HAD THE PROBLEM LOOKED AT LATER THAT AFTERNOON AT A LOCAL FORD DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. THE CAR WAS 3,000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. FORD CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE DID NOT FEEL THEY SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN THE PAST IN DECEMBER AND EACH TIME I WAS TRAVELING 60 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS...
MY 2010 FORD FUSION FAILED ME AND MY FAMILY YESTERDAY IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. THE CAR WENT INTO AN IDLE MODE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD TO COAST ACROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC AND RUN UP THE CURB TO GET MY FAMILY TO A SAFE AREA. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND THEN BACK ON AND THE CAR STARTED. THE PROBLEM WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE FAILED UNIT AT MY COST. I SEE ON THE WEB, THAT A FAILED THROTTLE BODY IS A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR THE FORD FUSION. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY 15 DAYS OR 5000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. MY COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $328.50. *TR

I GOT OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND BEFORE SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE NOTICED THE "WRENCH" SYMBOL ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR, NOTING THE "WRENCH" WAS NO LONGER ON, PUT IT IN GEAR AND DROVE OFF. THE CAR RAN FINE UNTIL 12/28/12, WHEN WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROX 70MPH ON I-90 THE ENGINE BEGAN TO AGAIN DOWN SHIFT AND LOSE POWER. THE THIRD OCCURRENCE WAS THE MORNING OF 12/29/12; IN EACH ABOVE INCIDENT I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE TRAFFIC WAY, PARK, SHUT OFF THE CAR, RESTART IT AND DRIVE AWAY. VEHICLE WOULD LOSE ALL RESPONSE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. IT WOULD HAPPEN AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING, BUT FIRST HAPPENED AFTER SPEEDING UP AFTER GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP. THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES. ON THAT LAST DAY, THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP, IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REACT TO THE INPUT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. YOU WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER, ASSUMING THERE WAS A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER, AND SHUT THE CAR OFF IN PARK THEN RESTART IT. EVERYTHING WOULD BE NORMAL UNTIL IT ACTED UP AGAIN, ANYWHERE FROM 1 MILE TO 5 MILES LATER. OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, YOU CAN'T POWER THE VEHICLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC IT WERE TO HAPPEN ON A TURN OR MERGING ON A FREEWAY. FORD FUSION 2012 3.0L V6 SEL GOES INTO "LIMP-MODE" WITHOUT WARNING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. A SLIGHT SHUDDER IMMEDIATELY BEFORE TRIPPING THE "LIMP-MODE" WHERE THE ACCELERATOR BECOMES DISABLED. NO OR MINIMAL POWER IS AVAILABLE TO PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC SAFELY. WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON, HOWEVER, THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING. ONCE THE CAR TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE CAR RUNS NORMALLY UNTIL THE SYMPTOM HAPPENS AGAIN. NO OTHER SYMPTOMS ARE PRESENT PRIOR TO GOING INTO "LIMP-MODE". BROUGHT THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY SAVED ENGINE CODES AND COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. NO WORK WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM DUE TO NO EVIDENCE OF IT IN THE COMPUTER. HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, AND CREATES A HAZARDOUS DRIVING EXPERIENCE. *TR

2010 FORD FUSION ON NOV 8 2012 DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 67 MILES PER HOUR WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AND SET, VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL ENGINE POWER.
