VEHICLE HAS HAD FREQUENT "ENGINE STALLS," WHERE THERE IS HESITATION AND STUMBLING WITH THE RPMS MOVING FROM 1-6 SPORADICALLY. FREQUENT POWER LOSS WITH ENGINE, AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE NYS THRUWAY, ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH WITH MAJOR POWER LOSS. AFTER THIS OCCURRED, IT WAS WAS FOUND BY THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO REQUIRE AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THIS VEHICLE IS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE AND HAD 56,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS OCCURRED. *LN
SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE AROUND ENGINE. RESOVOIR WAS LOW BUT NO SIGN OF LEAKS OR WET SPOTS ON GARAGE FLOOR. VERY APPARENT SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE. VECHILE OIL WAS CHANGED ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND ANTIFREEZE WAS ADDED TO OVERFLOW TANK, BUT NO LEAKS WERE FOUN.
THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. IT HAPPENS AT LEAST TWICE WHEN IT HAPPENS AND WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF HAVING STARTED THE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. BEGINNING IN MARCH 2019 ON MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE PURCHASED NOV. 13 2018, I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT BEGAN TO DRIVE AND IT DID ONCE I CAME HOME TO ANOTHER STOP AND BEGAN ACCELERATING THIS CAR BEGAN TO JERK AND TURN OFF SHOWING THE BATTERY LIGHT AND CHECK OIL LIGHT COMES ON, FAST FORWARD 4 MONTHS JULY I HAD THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS REPAIRED OCCURRED AGAIN, THE CAR BEGAN TO JERK EXCESSIVELY WHILE DRIVING GOT IT REPAIRED APPARENTLY NOW BEGINNING IN NOVEMBER ON THE 4TH MY CAR BEGAN TO TURN OFF WHILE IN IDLE AT A LIGHT NOW WHICH CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO BE IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIR FOR ABOUT 20 DAYS WHEN GOING TO PICK THE CAR UP DROVE FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS UNTIL THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED AGAIN, DROPPED IT BACK OFF NOW THE VEHICLE IS STILL NOT OPERATING ONCE THE CAR GOES INTO IDLE...
HAVE HAD CAR FIXED MULTIPLE TIMES INCLUDING REPLACING ENTIRE TURBO SYSTEM HOWEVER CAR CONTINUES TO STALL WHEN DRIVING. THE ENTIRE CAR WILL SHUT OFF AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE.

MY CAR STARTED SHOWING ENGINE OVERHEATING AND WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO DEALER THEY CONFIRMED A CRACK LEAKING FLUID INTO ENGINE. RECALL WORK DONE IN 2014 WAS TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING AND NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO BUY A NEW $6000 ENGINE TO HAVE IT RUN AGAIN. THEY WON'T COVER IT UNDER THEIR RECALL. I WROTE THE BBB BUT THEY REFUSE TO HONOR IT BECAUSE I DIDN'T BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CAR JUST TURNED 6 YRS OLD. I'M THE ONLY OWNER AND PURCHASED IT NEW.
PREVIOUSLY HAD DEALER REPAIR COOLANT LEAK HOSES IN FIREWALL BUT NOT LISTED IN RECALL AS WAS FOCUS/FUSION. TOOK A WEEK TO COMPLETE. ENGINE JUST HAD A HIGH TEMP FRIDAY THE 13TH WHILE DRIVING TWO MILES ON A STRETCH AND STALLED OUT. TURNED OFF CLIMATE SYSTEM AND DROVE TO DEALER THE NEXT MORNING.
THE ENGINE STALLS AT INTERSECTIONS. I'VE NOTICED IT'S WHEN THE FUEL IS LOW (40 MILES OR FEWER TO EMPTY)
THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING FOR MANY TIMES. THE KINGS FORD DEALER COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

A SMALL COOLANT RETURN LINE ON BACKSIDE OF MOTOR WAS MIS-CRIMPED CAUSING IT TO SEPARATE AND COOLANT TO LEAK ONTO MOTOR WHILE DRIVING. THERE WAS NO INDICATOR LIGHT TELLING ME COOLANT WAS LOW. CAR SHUT DOWN DUE TO EXTREME TEMPERATURE, AND MOTOR STARTED SMOKING FROM COOLANT LEAKING ON HOT MOTOR. LUCKILY I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND WAS ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD SAFELY. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WASN'T AFFECTED BY PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR SAME PROBLEM AND WERE VERY RUDE ABOUT IT. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURED DEFECT AND LUCKILY THE CAR DIDN'T CATCH FIRE DUE TO THIS DEFECT. AGAIN THERE WAS NEVER AN INDICATION OF LOW COOLANT, JUST A SHUTTING DOWN DUE TO EXTREME TEMPERATURE RIGHT BEFORE CAR SHUT DOWN. *TR

GURLEY LEEP FORD (320 E IRELAND RD, SOUTH BEND, IN 46614) WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURES VIA PHONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,402.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WOULD LOSE POWER, STALL OUT AND DIE! AFTER COASTING OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND WANTING A FEW MINUTES, I WOULD THEN TURNING THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON. IT WOULD START BUT I NEVER KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. THE CAR HAD SUFFICIENT FUEL AND OIL, BATTERY CONNECTION ARE TIGHT AND CLEAN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NORTHSIDE FORD (12300 SAN PEDRO AVE, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78216) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS AN ENGINE COOLANT LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

JUST GOT ENGINE HOSES, SENSORS, A NEW FUEL PUMP IN HOPES OF FIXING THE COOLANT LEAK AND THE STALLING. TOO SOON TO TELL IF THE COOLANT PROBLEM IS GONE, BUT STALLING IS STILL OCCURRING! FEELS EXTREMELY UNSAFE IN A VEHICLE THAT RANDOMLY STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING.

THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING FOR US WITH THE 1.6 IT SEEMS TO BE THE SAME EXACT THING GOING ON WITH THE 2.0. TODAY...
THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY STALLS, WITH ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. THE STALLING OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BRAKING, OR SLOWING DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS, AND I HAVE TO COMPLETELY STOP THE VEHICLE, PUT IT IN PARK, AND THEN RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES WITH OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME, CAUSING THEM TO HAVE TO HIT THEIR BRAKES AND STOP AS WELL. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT TOOK THEM A DAY AND A HALF TO DIAGNOSE THAT IT WAS AN EVAPORATIVE PURGE VALVE THAT WAS STICKING OPEN. THE REPAIR COST CAME TO $629.97, PLUS $68.86 FOR A RENTAL CAR. THE VEHICLE RAN FOR ABOUT 1.5 MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEMS, BUT IS NOW STALLING AGAIN WITH THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS BEFORE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ( US 82 IN TEXAS), THERE WERE FLAMES SEEN COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. A SEPARATE VEHICLE PULLED UP BESIDE OUR 2013 FORD ESCAPE, AND YELLED THAT THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. MY SON QUICKLY PULLED OVER, AND HE AND HIS MOTHER QUICKLY GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND BACKED AWAY FROM IT. A FIRE TRUCK CAME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE, BUT THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS. MY WIFE WAS ALSO TREATED FOR SMOKE INHALATION ON SITE, AND LATER HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE SHE WAS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS BREATHING. I HAVE CHECKED THE VIN ON OUR VEHICLE, BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON OUR VIN. AFTER RESEARCH, I SEE THAT THERE HAS BEEN OTHER FIRE ISSUES WITH OTHER VINS. I BELIEVE OUR SITUATION NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT, BECAUSE THE RECALL MAY NEED TO BE EXPANDED. WE ARE CURRENTLY UPSIDE...

IN NOVEMBER 2018 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP IN SOUTHERN PINES, NC DUE TO THE ENGINE OVERHEATING WHILE THE VEHICLE HAD DRIVEN ABOUT 10 FEET OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS TOLD IT WAS ONLY LOW ON COOLANT AND WHEN I EXPLAINED THE PREVIOUS ISSUES THEY CLAIMED THEY WERE FIXED. AGAIN IN NOVEMBER 2019 THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP ON FORT BRAGG. WHILE LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE THE REPAIR SHOP NOTED TWO SAFETY RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE, ONE PERTAINING TO THE ENGINE OVERHEATING. WHEN I CALLED THE PREVIOUS DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THIS THEY CLAIMED THERE WERE...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WATER PUMP BEGAN TO FAIL AND WAS REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE WATER PUMP CONTINUED TO FAIL AND THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT ANTI-FREEZE SLOWLY LEAKED FROM THE ENGINE, WHICH THEN LEAKED INTO THE CYLINDER CRACK. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GARY SMITH FORD (1 BEAL PKWY NW, FORT WALTON BEACH, FL 32548, (888) 814-7437) WHERE THEY REPLACED THE LONG BLOCK (ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THERE IS A RECALL ON ENGINES OVER HEATING, HOWEVER I HAVE CHECKED MINE WITH 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS AND THEY BOTH SAY THAT THEY CANT FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AND THAT MY ESCAPE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. ENGINE FIRE ON 9/21/19 WHILE CAR WAS PARKED ON SIDE STREET IT APPEARS AFTER BEING PARKED FOR NEAR 2 HOURS 2013 FORD ESCAPE PURCHASED ON 4/30/13 ENGINE: 2.0L I4 GTDI ECOBOOST ENG MILES: 49400 ALL WORK DONE AT DEALER INCLUDING ALL RECALLS LISTED ON NHTSA FOUR OF WHICH WERE RELATED TO FIRE. ENGINE FIRE VEHICLE TOTALED (PICTURES AVAILABLE) WHILE PARKED ON SIDE STREET IT APPEARS NEAR 2 HOURS AFTER THE CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES START STOP BACK STREETS AVERAGE SPEED ESTIMATED 25 MILES/HOUR. NO KNOWN ISSUES BEFORE FIRE. NO OTHER DAMAGE NO INJURIES.
MY ENGINE COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON. AS I WAS ENTERING AN ON RAMP TO THE HIGHWAY MY CAR SLOWED DOWN AND WOULD NOT LET ME ACCELERATE. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE GET TO A SAFE PLACE BEFORE THE CAR STOPPED. ME AND MY DAD HAD BROUGHT THIS 2013 FORD ESCAPE WITH WARRANTY ON AUGUST 20, 2018 AT DON DAVIS NISSAN IT HAD 70,093 MILES ON THE TRUCK THE SALES MAN NAME MR. WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY 82, A FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, THERE WAS NO NOTICE OF A FIRE WITHIN THE CAB. NO SMELL AND NO VISIBLE SMOKE. AFTER BEING FLAGGED DOWN ABOUT IT, WE MANAGED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND SAVE JUST A FEW THINGS OUT OF THE CAR, BEFORE THE FRONT HALF OF THE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,037.
I HAVE A 2012 FORD ESCAPE BOUGHT BRAND NEW ONLY HAVE 68000.MILES ON IT AND NOW IT HAS STARTED STALLING. I HAVE DRIVING DOING ERRANDS AROUND MY HOME TOWN. LUCKILY IT RESTARTED BUT NOT EASILY.

VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY STALLS OUT AT LOW IDLE, EITHER WHEN STATIONARY OR ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE UP HILL IN FORWARD AFTER BACKING OUT INTO STREET.
