VEHICLE HESITATES AFTER BEING STARTED, WHEN I ATTEMPT TO DRIVE VEHICLE STALLS AND IS UNABLE TO MOVE. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY TWICE, WAS ABLE TO GET TO BREAK DOWN LANE BEFORE ANY ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. THIS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING ON SECONDARY ROADS. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE THIS ISSUE HAPPEN IN MY DRIVEWAY, I STARTED VEHICLE AND PUT INTO DRIVE AND IT PUTTERED THEN STALLED THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 30 DIFFERENT TIMES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. I ALSO HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE LOSS OF COOLANT BUT NOT FINDING A LEAK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 6 MONTHS, I AM HAVING TO ADD COOLANT EVERY OTHER WEEK. WARNING LIGHTS FOR LOW COOLANT DO NOT DISPLAY NOR DOES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
ANTIFREEZE DISAPPEARING. HAD RESERVOIR TANK, HOSES, CLAMPS, COOLANT PARTS LEADING TO AIR CONDITIONING, NO VISSABLE LEAKS OF COOLANT. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF AT RANDOM AND HAS FOR PAST 4 + YEARS WITH NO RESOLUTION. RECENTLY HAD FORD DEALERSHIP RUN A 5 HOUR PRESSURE TEST WAS TOLD, 1) ENGINE LOSING PRESSURE, 2) #3 CYLINDER DEFECTIVE, 3) EITHER NEEDS HEAD GASKET OR POSSIBLE CRACKED BLOCK, UNSURE WITHOUT DISASSEMBLING ENGINE AT COST TO MYSELF OF AT MINIMUM $600. SAID SOME EROSION WAS SEEN, UNSURE CAUSE OF IT. WAS RECENTLY TOLD IN 2014 THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE OF CAR IN 03/2014, AT FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED VEHICLE. I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS WATER PUMP REPAIR UNTIL 07/2020. HAD I KNOWN, I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED BEING CAR "1" YEAR OLD NEEDING SUCH A VITAL REPAIR. MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE GUAGE SAID HIGH TEMP GET TO SAFE PLAACE TO STOP. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO BACK OR FORWARD. THE SHOP PUT IN TRANSMISSION BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND THEY PUT IN A GUAGE. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. EACH TIME I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED AND REPAIRED. I THINK THIS IS A MATTER THAT NEEDS BE BE IINVESTIGATED. WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE INDICATOR CAME ON AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE VEHICLE REDUCED IN SPEED AND STARTED TO HESITATE. ONCE I GOT TO A PLACE TO STOP IT WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAVE SPENT OVER $3500 SO FAR AND IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED IN AGAIN AND THEY IT MIGHT BE THE MOTOR. I ONLY HAVE A LITTLE OVER 41000 MILE ON THIS VEHICLE AND I CAN'T AFFORD...
THE COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 3. THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS WERE DISPLAYED: LOW COOLANT AND ENGINE FAULT: SERVICE NOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JANNELL FORD IN HANOVER, MA TO BE DIAGNOSED. I WAS INFORMED THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 120,000 MILES. CURRENTLY WEIGHING REPAIR OPTIONS AND IN THE PROCESS OF CONTACTING FORD MOTOR COMPANY.
VEHICLE STALLED ON HIGHWAY DUE TO OVERHEATING WHICH WAS A COOLANT LEAK. I SEE THEY ARE ALREADY INVESTIGATING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. DRIVER'S SEAT HAS TEARS IN IT. ENGINE WAS REPLACED AT 107,000 MILES. VEHICLE JERKS WHILE TRYING TO PARK ON A HILL. TOUCH SCREEN GOES IN AND OUT. TRUNK LATCH ONLY WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AT 121,000 MILES, BUT HAS BEEN MAKING NOISE SINCE 107,000 MILES. THIS VEHICLE IS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS!

FREEWAY DRIVING AND CAR STALLED. ABLE TO DRIVE TO CLOSE DEALERSHIP WITH PEDAL TO FLOOR AND GETTING ABOUT 8 MPH. REPLACED THROTTLE BODY. LEFT DEALERSHIP. DRIVING SIDE STREETS 2 MILES FROM DEALERSHIP AND SAME THING. 8 MPH. TOWED BACK TO DEALER. SAID IT MIGHT BE WIRE HARNESS $2000. THEY TEST DRIVE THOUGH AND NO PROBLEM AFTER MOVING WIRES AROUND. SO I TOOK CAR AND DROVE A FEW DAYS BUT THEN AFTER EXITING HIGHWAY ABOUT ONE MILE IT DOES IT AGAIN. TOWED BACK TO DEALER WHERE I START IT AND GET ZERO WARNINGS. DRIVES OK. BUT LEAVE IT THERE. THEY THINK IT'S PURGE VALVE NOW. GLAD I DIDN'T REPLACE WIRE HARNESS. THEY SAY IT ISN'T GIVING ANY CODES NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. SCARY TO LOSE ALL ACCELERATION ON FREEWAY!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HENNESSY FORD ATLANTA (5675 PEACHTREE INDUSTRIAL BLVD, ATLANTA, GA 30341, (470) 602-2073) HOWEVER, WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE FAILURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000.
THE ENGINE WILL QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING... SEEMS TO HAPPEN ONLY AFTER THE ENGINE IS WARM. I WILL BE DRIVING FINE, STOP AT A STORE FOR 10-30 MINUTES. RESTART THE CAR AND START DRIVING, AND THEN COMPLETE POWER LOSS. I HAVE TO DRIFT TO A STOP ALONG THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THEN IT WILL RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND THEN WILL DRIVE NORMAL AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE I AM USUALLY LEAVING SOME PARKING LOT, AND THEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE COMPLETE POWER LOSS HAPPENS. NOT SPEED RELATED. I USED MY AAA MEMBERSHIP TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO COLONIAL FORD IN PLYMOUTH, MA AFTER STANDING WITHIN FEET OF SPEEDING TRAFFIC WHILE WAITING. THE CAR POTENTIALLY LETHALLY JUST STOPPED. IT IS NOW BEING "DIAGNOSED" BY COLONIAL FORD. MUCH PREVIOUSLY, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO JANNELL FORD IN HANOVER, MA TO INQUIRE ABOUT THESE ISSUES WHEN THE MILEAGE WAS STILL REASONABLY LOW. LOSS OF COOLANT APPROXIMATELY EVERY 45 DAYS GIVE OR TAKE. NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKING AND A PRESSURE TEST CHECK DID NOT SHOW ANY NON-VISIBLE LEAKS. YET I HAVE TO REFILL A LOW COOLANT ERROR AS STATED. A GOOGLE SEARCH FOUND QUITE A FEW OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON 2013 MODEL. *TR

I PRESENTED THE NHTSA BULLETIN 12V431000 AND THE SERVICE WRITER JUST DISMISSED IT. MADE MY APPOINTMENT A WEEK AGO, CONFIRMED IT AND GAVE A THOROUGH EXPLANATION TO BE TURN AWAY. WASTE OF TIME AND INCREDIBLY AGGRAVATING. *TR

THE STALLING TYPICALLY OCCURS SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE AND DRIVING A VERY SHORT DISTANCE (I.E., <50 FEET) AND REQUIRES US TO SIT AND TRY MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE IT CONTINUES TO DRIVE WITHOUT STALLING. NO ENGLNE LIGHT TURNS ON AND NO NOTICE FOR WHEN THIS HAPPENS. *TR
AT 132,000 MILES, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, THE ENGINE BEGAN GIVING A CODE FOR ENGINE COOLANT LOW AND ENGINE OVERHEATING. AFTER ADDING AN AMOUNT OF COOLANT, THE WARNING WOULD GO AWAY. NO LEAKS WERE FOUND, AND NO INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED WHEN ASKED OF THE DEALER. NOW AT 154,000 MILES THE ENGINE HAS A SEVERE OIL LEAK COMING FROM SOMEWHERE NEAR THE MIDDLE OF THE ENGINE. THE OIL SPRAYS ALL OVER THE ENGINE BLOCK AND INSIDE THE ENGINE WELL. FORD DOES NOT ASSOCIATE ANY ISSUE WITH THE VIN. *TR

TEHACHAPI BLVD. STEP A. PHONE NUMBER 661-822-4950. THE SHOP I HAD IT TAKEN TO IS THE SECOND SHOP TO TELL ME IT HAS RECALL NUMBERS 13S12 AND 12S41. THE FORD COMPANY HOWEVER IS SAYING THIS IS NOT VALID. MY CAR IS UNDRINKABLE AT THIS TIME UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. *TR

I PURCHASED MY CAR USED IN DEC. 2016 WITH 79,000 MILES, AND HAVE HAD CONSISTENT PROBLEMS EVER SINCE. IN AUG. 2017 (94,888 MILEAGE), I HAD TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER BECAUSE THE ENGINE WOULD STALL AND STOP DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE - I WAS CONSISTENTLY ADDING COOLANT, PROBABLY EVERY FEW DAYS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND THE COOLANT LEAK CAME FROM THE WATER PUMP, SO THEY REPLACED THE LEAKING WATER PUMP, AS WELL AS THE CABIN AIR FILTER AND SPARK PLUGS. THEN IN JUNE 2018, I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND COULDN'T PUT THE SPARE ON BECAUSE THE LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN/WARPED - TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE ALL SETS. IN SEPT. 2018 (113,516 MILEAGE), I WAS DRIVING HOME, THE ENGINE STOPPED ACCELERATING, AND I KNEW IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD TO...
HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE (10-12) INSTANCES WHERE ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. MOST COMMON SITUATION IS WHEN SLOWING FOR A TURN IN CITY TRAFFIC. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. THIS CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL MUST BE DEPRESSED TO RESTART THE ENGINE, SO I HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN TRAFFIC.

I PURCHASED A USED 2013 FORD ESCAPE SE, 1.6L ECOBOOST FROM A LOCAL FORD DEALER IN NOVEMBER, IT STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH LOW COOLANT AND OVERHEATING CAUSING THE CAR TO GO INTO LIMP MODE UNEXPECTEDLY. THERE IS NO SIGN OF OVERHEATING UNTILL THE ERROR COMES UP ON THE SCREEN AND THE CAR GOES INTO LIMP MODE, THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION OCCASIONALLY ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. I HAVE TO PUT COOLANT INTO THE RESERVOIR SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK NOW (IT HAS PRGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE). THERE ARE NO VISIBLE SIGNE OF LEAKING ANYWHERE AND WE HAVE HAD A MECHANIC DO A PRESSURE TEST ON THE COOLANT SYSTEM WHICH PASSED INDICATING THAT THERE IS NO LEAK. WE HAVE REPLACED THE COOLANT RESEVIOR AND CAP AS WELL AS THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR. NOTHING WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. IN REVIEWING OTHER FORD ESCAPE FORUMS AND CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE...

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAVID MCDAVID FORD FORT WORTH LOCATED AT (300 W. LOOP 820 S, FORT WORTH, TX 76108), WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE SHIFTED TO LIMP MODE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 TO 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED WITHOUT STALLING. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, AFTER REFUELING, SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WOULD BE NEEDED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAUS NISSAN LOCATED AT (937 S SUNCOAST BLVD, HOMOSASSA, FL 34448, (352) 628-4300) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH A DRIVE BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
VEHICLE STALLS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY. AFTER STALLING IT NEEDS TO SIT IN ORDER TO BE RESTARTED OR ELSE IT WILL START UP AND STALL WITHIN A MINUTE. THERE IS NO PATTERN TO WHEN IT DOES THIS, SOMETIMES IT GOES MONTHS AND SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS MORE THAN ONCE IN A WEEK. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS ON MARCH 24TH, 2020 BUT IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES (OVER 25 TIMES) OVER THE 2-3 YEARS OWNING THE CAR.
COOLANT CONTINOUSLY DISAPPERS FROM THE ENGINE CAUSING TO OVERHEAT AND STALL. THERE ARE NO LEAKS. BUT CAR STOPS WHEN HEAT NEEDLE GOES TO MAX ON HIGHWAYS AND IN A CITY. VERY DANGEROUS AND FEARFUL FOR ME, WHEN MY DAUGHTER IS IN MAY CAR.
THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS ON THE COOLANT SYSTEM WITH THE 2013 FORD ESCAPE, HOWEVER EVEN THOUGH I HAD TO REPAIR THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE ON MY ESCAPE AS THE RECALLS FORD SAID MY VIN WASN'T IMPACTED ON THIS ISSUE. REALLY MY 2 CURRENT FORD VEHICLES I OWN WILL BE MY LAST!
VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE DUE TO OVERHEATING FROM THE FAILURE OF THE COOLANT SYSTEM. IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70MPH DOWN TO 15MPH IN A MATTER OF A FEW SECONDS WITH NO WARNING. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WORKED ON 5 SEPARATE TIMES, TWICE AT THE DEALERS EXPENSE AND THREE TIMES AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THE CODE GIVEN FROM THE OBM IS P26B7, THAT POINTS TO A COOLANT SOLENOID C PROBLEM. I HAVE REPLACED THE PCM, RESET THE NEW PCM, COOLANT RESERVOIR, AND HEATER HOSE TWICE. I SMELL BURNING COOLANT WHEN EITHER THE AIR CONDITIONING OR HEATER IS ON ONCE THE ENGINE WARMS UP. THIS COOLANT ISSUE HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE EVERY 3-4 MONTHS. I HAVE ATTACHED ONE SERVICE RECORD FROM NOV 2019. THE NEWEST SERVICE RECORD IS FOR FEB 2020.
ON 2 OCCASIONS, 11/4/2019 AND 3/10/2020, I TURNED THE IGNITION OF MY VEHICLE ON MY WAY TO WORK (AFTER CAR HAD COOLED DOWN ALL NIGHT). I DROVE ABOUT 5 HOUSES DOWN THE STREET ON A SUBURBAN ROAD AT 20 MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND THE WARNING INDICATED THAT I SHOULD PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE THE ENGINE HAS OVERHEATED. AT THE SAME TIME, THE CAR ENGINE STALLED AND I LOST MOTIVE POWER. BOTH TIMES MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE MECHANIC ADDED COOLANT FLUID EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO SIGN OF A LEAK OR OTHER EXPLANATION FOR THE LOSS OF COOLANT. I AM FEARFUL ABOUT WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I'VE HAD ALL 15 OF THE RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE FIXED IN 2018. I BELIEVE MY SITUATION IS JUST LIKE THE PENDING INVESTIGATION NHTSA ACTION...
AFTER DRIVING FOR A LENGTH OF TIME LONGER THAN 20 MINUTES WHEN VEHICLE IS PLACED IN PARK AND SHUT OFF WHEN RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WILL TURN ON AND START BUT AFTER DRIVING A FEW HUNDRED FEET THE VEHICLE WILL SPUTTER, JERK, REV UP THE RPMS THEN THE ENGINE WILL SHUT DOWN AND WON'T RESTART TILL IT HAS COOLED DOWN
ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN MY LOCAL HOMETOWN, THE COOLANT HAS BEEN LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND HAS CAUSED THE BLOCK TO WARP. ALSO IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MANY FORD ESCAPE MODELS, I'D LIKE TO HAVE OUR VEHICLE CONSIDERED FOR A RECALL BECAUSE THE COST IS OVER $7,000. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND COOLANT LIGHT ARE CONSTANTLY COMING ON WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT INDICATES THAT IT'S OVERHEATING

CONCERNED ABOUT OVERHEATING, SAFETY MODE AND OTHER ISSUES REPORTED FOR THIS 2013 1.6 LITER VEHICLE FOUND ON VARIOUS WEBSITES THAT COULD FOLLOW. VEHICLE PRODUCED 2/13 THAT FALLS OUT OF 2013 EARLIER RECALL FOR COOLANT/ENGINE PROBLEMS. OBVIOUSLY, THIS ISSUE IS OUTSTANDING FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR MODEL GIVEN MY SIMILIAR ISSUE ALONG WITH A MULTITUDE OF OTHER 2013 1.6 L ESCAPE OWNERS. THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING WHILE DRIVING.

THE CONTACT CALLED JOHN SANG FORD 195 UPPER RIVER RD, GALLIPOLIS, OH 45631(800) 272-5179, HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 135,000.
