LOSS OF COOLANT APPROXIMATELY EVERY 45 DAYS. NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKING AND A PRESSURE TEST DID NOT SHOW ANY NON VISIBLE LEAKS. YET I HAVE TO REFILL AFTER A LOW COOLANT ERROR AS STATED. A GOOGLE SEARCH FOUND QUITE A FEW OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE 2013 MODEL.
I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE 2 DAYS AND IT STALLS ON ME. SLOWING DOWN COMING TO RED LIGHT CAR STALLS. HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN 2 DAYS. NO LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD OR ANYTHING. I AM DEATHLY AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW TOTALLY UNSAFE!
THERE IS A SLOW ANTIFREEZE LEAK. EVERY TWO DAYS, ANTIFREEZE HAS TO BE ADDED BUT THE LEAK IS NOT VISIBLE. ALSO, UPON STARTING THE CAR, SHIFTING INTO DRIVE AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE; THE CAR WILL GET BOGGED DOWN RIGHT BEFORE 20 MILES PER HOUR AND THEN STOP UNEXPECTEDLY. IT DOES NOT COMPLETELY USE POWER BUT IT DOES STALL. THERE HAS BEEN NO EXPLANATION FOUND FOR THIS AND IT IS A DAILY OCCURRENCE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,460.
I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE IN JUNE OF 19 WITH 91 THOUSAND MILES. IN 3MOS. MY ENGINGINE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. MY HOOD WAS VIBRATING AND TRANS WAS SHIFTING HARD AND JUMPING IN AND OUT. TOOK IT TO FORD IN MESQUITE TX. I PAID 800 + DOLLARS FOR MOTOR MOUNT. TWO DAYS LATER VIBRATIONS RETURN. TOOK IT BACK. THEY SAID THAT'S NORMAL. DIDNT DO DIAGNOSTICS. 2MOS AGO IT STARTED RATTLING FROM THE REAR. VIBRATIONS WORST. FORD SAID ITS TRANSMISSION MOUNT NOW. THIS CAR HAS OVER 10 RECALLS PERFORMED. I CANT AFFORD TO FIX. I TOOK FOR ANOTHER LICENSE SHOP. MECHANIC SAID HE WOULDN'T TOUCH IT HE SAID THE EXHAUST AND MOUNTS GO OUT FREQUENTLY ON THESE CARS. IT WOULD KILL IN ON HIS ONE WARRANTY. SAID MOUNTS CAN GO OUT AGAIN WITHIN 3MONTHS. I'M STUCK WITH THIS MONEY TAKING LEMON. 2013 WITH 101 THOUSAND MILES.

SINCE THE DAY WE BROUGHT IT HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP IT WILL RANDOMLY DIE OR STALL OUT WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR. TODAY IT ACTUALLY DIED WHILE STILL IN PARK. ONCE IT GETS GOING DOWN THE ROAD IT'S FINE BUT SOMETIMES IT DIES WITHIN THE FIRST MINUTE. YESTERDAY IT DIED 7 DIFFERENT TIMES. IT IS NOT SHOWING ANY WARNING LIGHTS OR ERROR CODES.
I OWN A 2013 FORD ESCAPE SE WITH THE 1.6 ENGINE. DRIVING THE VEHICLE OVER THE LAST 2 OR 3 MONTHS THE ENGINE COOLANT SEEMS TO BE DISAPPEARING RATHER FAST. WE CAN TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE CAN TOP OFF ALL THE FLUIDS, ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE ADD COOLANT LIGHT COMES BACK ON AND SAYS TO STOP CAR IMMEDIATELY DUE TO ENGINE OVERHEAT. WE GET IT PULLED OVER AND THE COOLANT IS JUST UNDER THE MIN. LINE. THE CAR BARELY HAS 120,000 MILES ON IT AND WE ARE THE FIRST AND ONLY OWNERS. FORD TOLD US THEY WILL NOT FIX IT UNTIL THE RECALL IS ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. THIS IS A $3,000 + JOB THAT IS NOT JUST AN EASY FIX. THERE IS AN ONGOING LEAK IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM. BEING REPORTED ON THE LAST DATE OF COOLANT ADDITION. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IS PART OF A RECALL ON THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF THE VEHICLE, BUT THE NHTSA SYSTEM INDICATES THAT MY VEHICLE EITHER IS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL OR HAS BEEN FIXED. AS STATED IN THE RECALL, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

WHILE IN MOTION ON THE FREEWAY IN A BUSY METRO AREA, TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITH AN INSTANT LOSS OF POWER AND FLASHED A CODE THAT SAID THERE WAS AN 'ENGINE MALFUNCTION' AND 'SERVICE NOW'. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY WITHOUT INCIDENT, HOWEVER, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTEROUS AT THOSE SPEEDS ON A METRO FREEWAY. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START AND ALTHOUGH IT STARTED SLUGGISH, IT RESUMED DRIVING WITH NO CODES AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. UNTIL AN HOUR LATER, WHEN THE SAME REPEAT INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS FUNCTIONING COMPLETELY NORMAL WITHOUT ANY WARNING INDICATOR THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE....UNTIL THE VEHICLE INSTANTLY SHUT DOWN AT A HIGH SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHULTS FORD SOUTH (900 REGIS AVE, WEST MIFFLIN, PA 15236) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE STATED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000.
SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF ENGINE COOLANT. LEAKING ENGINE COOLANT. CONSTANTLY REPLACING FLUID. ENGINE LIGHT NOW COMES ON CONSTANTLY. MECHANICS ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE. I HAVE PURCHASED OVER 6 BOTTLES OF ENGINE COOLANT. I REFILL THE TANK AT LEAST 4X MONTH.

CAR STARTS EASILY, IS DRIVEN OUT OF A PARKING LOT, BRAKES ARE APPLIED BEFORE PROCEEDING TURNING ON MAIN ROAD, CAR ENGINE CUTS OFF. THIS IS THE SCENARIO EACH TIME. DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME CAR IS DRIVEN BUT IT IS A CONSTANT SAFETY ISSUE. ALWAYS HAVE TO MAKE SURE NO TRAFFIC IS COMING WITHER WAY BECAUSE CAR HAS TO BE PLACED IN PARK TO RESTART. CAR SHOWS NO CODES WHEN PLACED ON COMPUTER. DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS RECALL OR PROBLEM. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT SO IMPOSSIBLE TO DEMONSTRATE TO DEALER. ONLINE RESEARCH INDICATES MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE BUT NO SOLUTION AVAILABLE, JUST MANY SUGGESTIONS. SO RESOLUTION IS UNKNOWN.
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, 70% OF THE TIME THE VEHICLE STALLS AFTER 1 MINUTE, SOMETIMES ON THE ROAD WHICH IS DANGEROUS. NOW IT IS STALLING AFTER IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR AWHILE AND I PLACE IT IN PARK. IT NOW STALLS WHILE IDLING. IN ALL INSTANCES I CAN RESTART THE CAR WITH NO PROBLEMS...EXCEPT IF IT STALLS AGAIN, WHICH IS NOW APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE TIME.

IT ALSO INTERMITTENTLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I ALSO HAVE A HEATING ISSUE. I PURCHASED THE CAR DEC.26. 2020 AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE FORD SERVICE DEPT SINCE JAN 4, 2021. ONLY THE HEAT HAS BEEN GBEING LOOKED AT. THE STALLING HASNT BEEN LOOKED INTO . HEAT ONLY WORKS WHEN ACCELERATING.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V583000 (ENGINE) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED BACK IN 2016. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 141,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN THE ENGINE TO MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE STARTED SMOKING ENOUGH TO ENGULF THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WITH BLACK SMOKE. THE ENGINE THEN CAUGHT FIRE WHILE I WAS STILL IN DRIVE. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND JUMPED OUT WHEN IN A MATTER OF SECONDS THE ENTIRE ENGINE WAS IN FLAMES, SECONDS AFTER THAT THE WHOLE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPT. CAME TO PUT IT OUT. CAME AGAIN AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. I ASKED THEM IF THEY HAD ANY IDEA WHAT CAUSED IT. ONE FIRE FIGHTER'S REPLY WAS "NO IDEA, I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY THING LIKE THIS BEFORE IN MY LIFE" THE CAR HAD 89000 MILES ON AND HAD...

WE HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE AND IT DIES/STALLS OUT PERIODICALLY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THERE IS NO WARNING AND TYPICALLY IT IS AFTER IDLING (EX: AT A STOP LIGHT). MY DAUGHTER WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AFTER GETTING GAS AND ONCE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, AND SHE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE DIED AND SHE HAD TO COAST ACROSS A 7 LANE BUSY STREET TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM, IT HAS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE MECHANIC AND IT DOESN'T TYPICALLY BRING UP A "CODE" ON THE MACHINE THEY USE. ON ONE OCCASION, IT DID AND WE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP ($600) WHICH DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN!!! AND AFTER READING SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM! PLEASE DO SOMETHING!

I'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. I JUST CAME OUT OF A STATE INSPECTION A FEW MONTHS LATER THE ENGINE OVERHEATS AND THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF. NOW, IF I HAD ONE FORD I WOULD NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THIS, BUT I HAVE MORE THAN ONE AND THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED. TED RUSSELL FORD LINCOLN (8551 KINGSTON PIKE, KNOXVILLE, TN 37919) WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V431000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WHICH SHE LINKED TO THE FAILURE....
FEBRUARY 2019 I HAD MY WATER PUMP, WATER GASKET, AND HEATER HOSE REPLACED BY FORD BECAUSE THEY FOUND COOLANT PUMP AND HEATER HOSES WERE LEAKING. BEFORE THEY FIXED THIS ISSUES I WOULD SMELL A HORRIBLE SMELL WHEN I USED MY HEATER. LATELY, I HAVE BEEN SMELLING THE SAME SMELL FROM THE COOLANT LEAKING WHEN I USE MY HEATER, THIS SMELL GIVES ME HEADACHES EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DECEMBER 29TH 2020. I HAD TAKEN IT TO AUTO ZONE TO CHECK THE CODES. THEY DETECTED THE CODE P26B7 -REPLACE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE AND THE SMELL IS INCREASING WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR AND USE MY HEATER. NOW I AM GOING TO BE OUT MORE MONEY FOR THE SAME ISSUE THAT LOOKS LIKE TO BE HAPPENING FOR YEARS NOW. THIS IS NOT RIGHT!
I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE 1.6L ' THE COOLANT LIGHT SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT INDICATOR HAS BEEN COMING ON. I FIRST WOULD FILL THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WITH ANTIFREEZE AND A MONTH OR SO LATER THE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AGAIN. I WOULD REPEAT THE PROCESS. I BROUGHT IT IN TO BAY STATE FORD IN EASTON, MASSACHUSETTS AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY WATER PUMP WAS THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK. ($1,500). I HAD THEM REPAIR IT. I GOT THE CAR BACK AND A MONTH OR 2 LATER THE COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY DID DIAGNOSTICS ON (COMPRESSION TESTS) AND INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO LEAKS AND THAT THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN AIR POCKETS THAT CAUSED IT. I TOOK MY CAR BACK AGAIN AND WITHIN 1 MONTH THE COOLANT LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. AGAIN, THEY DO DIAGNOSTICS AND SAID THERE WAS...
ON MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE WHENEVER I POUR COOLANT IN IT AUTOMATICALLY LEAKS. IT HAS BEEN SMOKING, OVERHEATING AND DANGEROUS. I NEED THE CAR FIXED. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH AUTONATION FORD MARGATE AT 5401 W COPANS RD, MARGATE, FL 33063 AND WHEN I GOT THERE THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE A CHARGE TO DIAGNOSE. FORD SHOULD BE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND READY TO FIX IT FOR THE CUSTOMER. THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS AND NEED IT FIXED FOR FREE.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE 1.6L STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING AT A SLOW SPEED. FOR EXAMPLE WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN ON A CITY STREET. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, TOO NUMEROUS TO COUNT.
WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE DIED AFTER GIVING A HIGH TEMPERATURE WARNING & THE ENGINE CAME ON. ONCE COOLED IT WOULD NOT DRIVE FORWARD ON IN REVERSE. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND HAS HAD MULTIPLE PREVIOUS ISSUES.
A MONTH AGO WE FILLED THE COOLANT UP AFTER NOTICING IT WAS LOW. LAST WEEK WHEN I STARTED IT UP IT IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF. I STARTED IT UP AGAIN AND IT ONLY STAYED RUNNING IF I GAVE IT SOME GAS. DROVE IT ABOUT 2 MILES AND WHEN I ARRIVED BACK HOME I GOT THE WARNING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IT THEN KILLED ALL THE POWER TO THE VEHICLE. STATED IT WAS OVERHEATING. THE RESERVOIR WAS ALMOST EMPTY OF COOLANT. FILLED IT BACK UP AND THE MESSAGES WERE GONE. DROVE IT TO GET THE CODES PULLED. SEE PICTURE. WAITING TO HEAR BACK ABOUT WHAT IT MAY BE BUT THE MECHANIC SEEMED TO THINK IT'S THE HEAD GASKET. ONLY 90K MILES ARE YOU KIDDING?
ON AT LEAST FOUR OCCASIONS, VEHICLE HAS ISSUED WARNING OF OVERHEATING. FIRST TWO TIMES WERE IN FL AS MY DAUGHTER WAS LEAVING HOME, HEADED TO WORK. SHE WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. THE CAR STALLED ON HER. THE WARNING STATES TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY AND STOP THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON 12/18/20 AS MY DAUGHTER WAS LEAVING WORK. SHE STARTED THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY THE WARNING SOUNDED, THE CAR SPUTTERED AND DIED COMPLETELY. THE COOLANT WAS BELOW THE NORMAL RANGE, SO WE WENT BACK TWO DAYS LATER WITH ANTIFREEZE (SHE IS NOW LIVING IN NE). WE TOPPED OFF THE COOLANT TANK AND WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME AT NORMAL INTERSTATE TRAVEL APPROX 5 MILES. ON 12/24/20, I WENT OUT TO START THE CAR AND THE WARNING HAPPENED, AGAIN. MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE IS LOSING COOLANT. IT IS NOT LEAKING ON GROUND. I HAVE HAD IT IN 3 TIMES TO FORD AND LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY CANNOT FIND A LEAK. THEY SAY IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I NEED TO FILL IT EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2.5 YEARS AGO AND IT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM.
COOLANT SYSTEM LEAKING CONSTANTLY
I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE 1.6 LITER. MANUFACTURE DATE IS 02/2013. APPARENTLY SLIGHTLY EARLIER MANUFACTURED ESCAPES HAD A RECALL FOR A COOLANT LEAK. FORD IS TELLING ME THIS CAR IS OUT OF THAT MANUFACTURE DATE YET THIS CAR IS NEARLY IN MINT CONDITION EXCEPT THIS ONE THING WHICH SEEMS A LITTLE IRONIC TO ME. IT IS LEAKING COOLANT SIGNIFICANTLY AND I CAN'T TELL WHERE FROM.
WARNING CAME ON STATING ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND TO PULL OVER SAFELY. AFTER SITTING FOR 3 DAYS, TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN, WITH THE SAME WARNING. THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN OVERHEATED AT THIS TIME. COULD NOT DRIVE VEHICLE WITH THIS WARNING. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME.
OUR 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAS DEVELOPED A COOLANT LEAK AND OIL LEAK. THE COOLANT LEAK IS FROM THE WATER PUMP AND THE OIL LEAK IS UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME. I HAVE SEEN THAT THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL AND FORD HAS RECALLED SOME BUT OURS DOES NOT COME UP UNDER THAT RECALL.
VEHICLE STARTED LOSING ANTIFREEZE NO LEAK WAS FOUND. DEALERSHIP COULDN'T DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. NOW THE ENGINE IS GONE. LEAKED COOLANT TO THE ENGINE FORD SHOULD TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUES BUT FORD DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY
HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR TWICE IN A YEAR. BOUGHT CAR A YEAR AGO AND HAVE SMELLED BURNING SINCE. TURBO WAS REPLACED DUE TO INTERNAL OIL LEAK. NOW CAR OVER HEATS AND HAVE TO ADD COOLANT WEEKLY. SMOKE COMES UP THROUGH HOOD ON OCCASION. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY LEAKS OR TELL ME WHY I CAN SMELL BURNING AND SEE SMOKE. SAID COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER RECALL BUT VIN WASN'T FLAGGED) BUT HOW IS THAT GOING TO FIX ADDING COOLANT WEEKLY? FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF COOLING SYSTEMS SINCE 2010 AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT.
CAR STARTS TO SPUTTER THEN JUST DIE WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION. THIS IS NOW THE 9TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A MAIN ROADWAY.
IN JANUARYAND FEBRUARY OF 2019 I TOOK MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE TO SONORA FORD IN SONORA,CA BECAUSE IT STARTED STALLING ON ME. IT HAPPENED USUALLY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING 50 TO 100 FEET AND THEN IT WOULD START TO SPUTTER AND DIE. I GOT NO LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IT SEEMS TO DO IT EVERY TWO OR THREE STOPS. SONORA FORD CHECKED IT AND SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHECK IT LATER THEY TOLD ME SOMETHING WAS WRONG IN THE MANIFOLD BUT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TERRET DOWN TO FIND OUT. THEY SAID I WHAT IS MISSING A BOLT IN MY MANIFOLD GASKET. THE MANIFOLD GASKET WAS REPLACED BUT AFTER ONE WEEK IT WAS STILL WAS STALLING. I TOOK IT BACK A WEEK LATER AND THE MANAGER OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DROVE IT HOME TO HIS HOUSE WHILE IT WAS HOOKED UP TO SOME...
