The diagnostic summary provided by [XXX] on December 17, 2025, significantly mischaracterizes my complaints and omits the relevant factory campaigns. It has been over 30 days and it is apparent that they have no intention of complying with the mandated repairs or providing me any paperwork for my repair. Vehicle only has 93,000 miles and has been well maintained. I was was working and the transmission pump failed. It kicked out of gear going 55mph down a road. Could have caused me to have a major accident. Why are these not part of the 2015-2016 transmission recall?
#11705163 |
The transmission failed- according to the NTSB there was a recall for 2016 Dodge Caravans for auto transmission pump failures. I was told my vin # didn't match the recalled Vin numbers yet that's what failed on my vehicle costing about 4 thousand for repair work.

Transmission slipping in first gear. Codes from dealership. P0944 LOSS PRIME P0868 LOW PRESSURE
#11678455 |
While driving, transmission went out without warning. Prior, it was driving fine. While on the highway the vehicle lost power from the accelerator and the check engine light illuminated. When pressing the accelerator, RPMs would go all the way up and the car would not accelerate at all. It was checked out shortly after by a mechanic. They ran a scan for the check engine light, which reported several codes being thrown for failed transmission components.

I purchased a used 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SE in April of 2025 with only 52,973 miles on it, and a one owner. On June 26, 2025, the van lost pull power, wouldn't accelerate, check engine light came on and I was stranded. Towed to dealer, had metal in the transmission fluid and a new transmission was ordered and installed under the extended warranty I had purchased when I bought the van. Within an hour or so after picking up my repaired van, after business hours and on the weekend, I broke down again. It was determined this time that two sensors on the new transmission were bad. Picked up my van and drove it for four days, and again after business hours and on the weekend, my van did the same thing, slipping transmission, wouldn't accelerate, only this time I was almost in a car wreck. I pulled onto...

Driving along and suddenly van didn’t go into gear….towed and was confirmed there is a transmission issue….when checked for recalls about this issue, I was told my vehicle ID number doesn’t match the recall however no one can tell me why if there was a recall on this particular make and model and Year BUT my VIN is not included. I have been unsuccessful in ANY resolve or answers since March of this year ! Very disappointed and unsatisfied with the way I have not been able to get ANY help. The vehicle lost power in all gears while driving on highway, I was in the middle of large semi trucks speeding around me and nearly hit me. The vehicle transmission acted up at 115,000 miles. It has clean transmission fluid and it is full. I believe it should be covered under the transmission recall for this year range but it does not have any recalls.

Was driving home from work (on city streets) and noticed that the engine seemed to be idling higher than normal RPMs. Van would not shift from first gear and would not accelerate beyond about 30 MPH, very sluggish, while RPMs rose above 3K and engine made a grinding/whining sound. No warning lights of any kind came on while driving or while stopped. While stopped at a traffic light, heard several loud clunks from under the hood and van had difficulty accelerating from stop. Was able to get it to the shop where they diagnosed transmission failure - the mechanics couldn't get it out of first gear by the time they were done looking at it and had to push it off the lift. Total cost of a remanufactured transmission plus new hubs and axles because they couldn't get the old ones removed without damaging them to remove/replace the transmission was...

I was driving my van down the highway and all of a sudden my van jerked me, acting like it was switching gears, the rpm reviving up, steering wheel pulling me into the opposite lane. I lost all power of the vehicle and could not go over 20mph. I was thankful no one was in the oncoming lane or behind me. There was no dash lights on or warning sign. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and it has been confirmed the transmission went out of the vehicle.

My family was in the vehicle driving on the hwy in town and suddenly the car revved all the way up to 5000 rpms and would not shift out of first gear. When my husband shifted the car from drive to reverse to park the transmission made a loud clunking noise and hard jerking motion, the check engine light came on. There were no warning signs or lamps. this happened all within 30 seconds of driving down the highway. Since the vehicle would not shift out of first gear our safety was put at risk being we were on a major hwy and unable to gain speed or move out of way of traffic.

Vehicle transmission went out in 2022. Checked and it shows known recall for this transmission pump failure for Dodge Grand Caravan vehicles manufactured July 31, 2015, to April 18, 2016. According to the sticker inside the door, ours was manufactured in March 2016 which was during the recall period. However, our vehicle has not been included in the recall and has been sitting in our driveway for almost 2 years. It needs a new transmission due to the known pump failure issue.

Transmission failed with minimal warning. Getting transmission codes for pressure. There is a recall for transmission pressure but shows my VIN isn't a part of recall. This van has less than 88000 miles. I believe the recall should be expanded. This van was manufactured in the same date range affected.
#11589265 |
Transmission had to be rebuilt at 153,000. The sliding doors actuators are locked all the time and unlocked all the time, which is a safety hazard for anyone riding in rear seats.

I was driving my van which I have had nothing but trouble with this dodge caravan, go to turn at the intersection and it just shuts off started right back up but starting to turn and it just shut off. Happened twice now, had the battery checked and every thing else seemed good just didn’t know why this happened but it almost got us hot the first time. There are a lot of dodge vans that aren’t included in the S44 recall and our VIN numbers don’t pop up. I mean the air bags are killing people in these dodges now, I’ve had nothing but a hard time with this vehicle. They are unsafe, if I wasn’t poor and could afford a good van and not bottom of the barrel I wouldn’t be dealing with this it seems. But the poor are expendable. I’d rather take my kids in my...

This is the second report I have put in. I have found some information since the first report I have a problem with my transmission on my Grand Caravan. There is a recall for vehicles built between 7/31/15 and 4/18/2016 and is the R/T trim package. I found out that all the Grand Caravans have the same engine and transmission in them. I would like to know why the they only say the R/T model when my vehicle falls within the specified dates. Did they pick the R/T model because they sold the least amount of those vehicle in the dates listed? I am not the first person that has had the same issue as me. Can someone explain this to me?
#11551665 |
evap purge valve replaced still having issues. Also, today out of no where my vehicle started to slip when it was shifting gears, the engine is making a weird sound and slow when trying to give gas.

Van started fine and as I was driving the engine started revering hard and felt like it was having a hard time sifting lucky I was near my mechanic and they did that plug in and test it because the engine light came on right when I pulled in and said the transmission is gone they where able to find a rebuilt engine for my van and replaced old with a compatible engine now when this happened I had 60,000 miles. He did tell me that unfortunately they have seen this issue alot with the dodge caravan transmission just cuts out like this with no warning at all and I Googled this issue and it seems to happened to alot of other van owners. There is another issue going on that every time I get in my van before putting the key in the ignition there's a humming sound and...

Transmission failed at 85000 miles for a 2016 model dodge grand caravan. Vehicle taken to dealer for inspection and repaired. Vehicle will stalled then suddenly stopped when driving putting myself and family at risk of injury or death. There were no warning light or indicator prior to this issue. There are numerous reports on these type of vehicles failure.
#11545836 |
I have the transmission pump fail and cause the torque converter to fail. With transmission failed may have caused an accident. I had a mechanic look at issue and found out the problem with the transmission and cost of repair. Has not been inspected at this time. I did not have any prior notice with lights or check engine light on in the car before issue with the transmission. Dodge has a recall S44 which lists the R/T Grand Caravan as this problem will occur. It has to fall in the date of manufacture between Jul 3, 2015 and April 18, 2016. I do not have the R/T model but car was manufactured within the dates listed above. Maybe this recall needs to be expanded to other models built in the same range of dates.

Transmission fluid pressure pump/sensor failure Just like all the other Dodge grand caravan vehicles of this year !
#11544017 |
The transmission disengaged at highway speed causing no power to be transmitted to the wheels. It rolled to a stop in a traveling lane causing an unsafe condition. There was no warning that this was about to happen. I have found that other vehicles of the same year, make, model, and build date range have been recalled for this same problem but mine failed without warning and was not covered by this recall. My vehicle only has 79,600 miles. Executive Dodge of Wallingford, CT has confirmed the problem. The transmission pump and torque converter failed.

Leaking oil from the motor oil housing filter. No warning signs. I noticed oil leaks under my van and took it to a mechanic and due to so much oil the initial thought was my transmission gasket was bad. I had my transmission serviced and that's when they found out it was the motor oil housing. Since this incident I have had to replace my window regulators and the radiator. So far my van has been in the shop 4 times this year. Parts are breaking down prematurely.
