NHTSA Complaint #11558774 — 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle jerked and failed to respond. The contact stated that she continued to depress the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle accelerated significantly. The contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle decelerated. The contact stated that she was able to continue driving; however, the failure recurred several times on the way to her residence. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred while attempting to drive (D) or reverse (R) from a complete stop. The contact stated that the vehicle had been towed several times to the residence. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and was towed to the contact's residence. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was notified of the failure, but had not returned the contact's calls. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.
