My Car won't start and when taken to the chrysler dealership they stated that Car Engine is dead and will need to be replaced.
Car began idling rough, we were told it needed spark plugs & batteries and that several different engine codes were coming off of it, 3 shops and final say was that the head gasket was blown. Total engine replacement needed less than 70k miles, vehicle never over heated
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that two weeks after purchasing the vehicle new, the vehicle would jerk while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal. The RPM’s was stuck on 2,000 RPM. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic test was completed. The contact did not recall whether the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was then taking to an independent mechanic several times where unknown repairs were completed; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys where it was diagnosed with evaporative emission system failure. Additionally, the contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH and coming to a complete stop, the engine was making a loud banging sound before the vehicle shut off. The electronic throttle control...
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in park, the contact attempted to start the vehicle, but engine failed to turn over. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that coolant had leaked into the engine and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,494.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 MPH and making a turn, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle restarted after several minutes. While driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled again. The vehicle hesitated while restarting. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
Voltmeter is fluctuating between 10-15 volts. The windows will go down by themselves while driving, slow to start, and the dash lights/radio control screen takes several minutes to come on, and the auto sliding doors fail to operate occasionally. Several times the vehicle will lose Excelleration when starting from a stop or turning, the last time nearly causing an accident. The vehicle is becoming unsafe to drive and I have seen several like complaints on this year model vehicle.
Transmission slips while driving
ENGINE FAILURE around 120,000 miles...No detail information why..engine replaced at Jeep Chrysler 8200 Fairforest Rd. Spartanburg SC dealership 0n 02-26-2021. cost $8,461.85. no warranty coverage
The car stalls out In midst of driving and will not accelerate, than it will with a hard jerk try to accelerate again, at first I thought it was bad gas, then I noticed it more and more which prompted me to look it up and see that it’s a recall for that specific problem that I’m having but my vent number has No recall although I’m experiencing that same issue with my vehicle
Engine cylinder 3 misfire. ERROR CODE P303. dealer states cylinder 3 is warped , and will need new engine block. engine only has 49000 miles on it. all maintenance has been performed routinely. Many other 2017 chrysler pacificas have had this issue, and they are reported in the chrysler forums, ultimately needing a new engine at such a young age. NHTSA needs to compel chrysler to do a recall for this issue. A new engine at 50000 miles is ridiculous.
While driving 10 mph the engine shut off/stalled locking the steering wheel. The dash read shift to park and the shift knob was flashing. The vehicle would not restart at first and took 3 tries before turning over.
Coolant leaking into cylinder 5
I drive my daughter's van to transport my 3 years old autistic grandson to preschool and I have experienced several problems. 6 times the van died when I accelerated from a stopped position. Once I was turning onto a highway. The passenger-side sliding door opened while I was driving. The passenger front window has opened 2 different times. The lights on the dash go out while driving. The transmission will slam into another gear jerking you. The hatchback door on the back has closed on my daughter and her baby. She has 4 kids 5 and younger that she drives in this van. It scares me to drive it. She has taken it to 2 different places to get it looked at and they couldn't identify the problem. From what I have read this happens a lot with the van.
'Engine failure and needs replacement of head gasket. Never overheated. Also excessive "bucking" feels and sounds like you are being rear ended. Causes car to bang and lunge forward. Was repaired once before , dealer stated it was a software issue. Problem continues and gives you back pain and wiplash type sensation as it is a very abrupt and strong occurance. Now engine has failed and needs head gasket repaired for over $3000.
The problem began with an engine light and gave a P0303 code. We made an appointment with the dealer but the starter went out before it could be solved. After repair the service manager noticed a hint of white smoke from the tail pipe. After we received it, we took a short trip on the freeway and had the temperature shoot up and a horrible burning smell came in the cabin. We pulled over and got to a gas station. The coolant reservoir was empty so we filled it. On the way home the engine light came on and the next day we took it to a local shop. They confirmed it was the head gasket leaking coolant into cylinder 5. A code reader pointed to cylinder 3 with only a misfire but in reality you are losing coolant at a high rate. The mechanic will notify our warranty company...
I was driving for about 10 minutes going 40mph when the car dinged, the accelerator stopped working and the steering wheel became stiff and almost impossible to move. The screen said “shift to P to start”. I was able to pull to steering wheel just enough to pull over, and barely missed being in an accident. I put the car in park turned it off and turned it back on and it started again. 1 week prior I took the car to the dealer because the transmission seemed to be jerky and then it wouldn’t start. I got it towed to the dealer and they couldn’t replicate the jerky-ness and said it was because they battery was low and it was a connection issue. I got a new battery and a week later the car shut off while I was driving!
Im also contacting the department of transportation in this matter. I had a tune up at. 80,000 mile . Lots of misfires . Head gasket right head leaking. Cracks dripping inside cylinder. Leaking right head gasket.I have to keep refilling the coolant. Im seeing many recalls but when I put in my vin it shows none .
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle lost power steering and braking functionality. The contact stated that his wife observed that the shift out of park message was displayed; however, the vehicle was not in park(P) but in drive(D) when the vehicle stalled. The contact's wife had made several attempts to restart the vehicle before the vehicle finally restarted. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
The new auxiliary battery is not working properly which is causing the start/stop component to not work and the light is illuminated on the dash. Also the car has issues with the Torque Converter Clutch and the crank shaft sensor which disrupts the vehicles performance. The vehicle slows down when trying to accelerate and then speeds back up when the transmission realizes it needs to shift gears. The car then jolts roughly after the gear shift while driving. Sometimes car will not start because the auxiliary battery does not have enough power. Also after shutting car off there will be soft banging noises coming from the middle of the dashboard which lasts for a few minutes.
My vehicle has 87,000 miles on it and has had multiple electronic and start/stop system issues, recently check engine light appeared and dealership stated there was coolant in the cylinders therefore needs a new engine.
The engine shuttered/shook upon startup and did so continuously. When shifted into gear, the engine ran rough and never normalized. I am afraid to drive it in case something more serious happens to the engine or causes other damage. I havent dared take it over speeds of 40 mph and only lighktly drove it for a week after the CEL turned on. The check engine light turned on, constant, and took the van to the dealer. Error code is p0305 for the 5th cylinder misfire. My vehicle is available for inspection. My vehicle is at the dealer getting looked at. No one else has looked at it. The day before the CEL turned on, the van engine shuttered for 15 seconds with no error code and operated normally. Then the next morning the CEL turned on and stayed on.
I took my vehicle in to have the computer reset as the recall fix required after my start/stop unavailable warning came up for the second time. First time I had to replace both batteries. About 6 months ago if that. Took it in with the check engine light having popped on saying it's a misfire. Then when we left the stop start failure was still lit up on the dash and there were more codes popping up including one for the shift module which is electronic.. so I believe the electronic system is causing the misfire. I don't even have 100,000 miles and my car is about 5 years old. (2017) We were traveling on a busy highway when the check engine light came on to start with and exited to turn around and head home when the van felt like it was getting sluggish and we luckily were not...
UNKNOWN. Vehicle stalls out when attempting to start. If started vehicle can drive fine but when stopped at a light it stallls out from time to time requiring you to shut it completely off after putting it in park and restarting. At times it will fail to restart. There is no check engine light or anything for a shop to find the issue.
The vehicle is experiencing rough, late shifts when pressing the gas. The vehicle frequently lunges forward while your foot is steady on the gas pedal, feeling as if you have been hit from behind. It has 36,000 miles on it.
My Pacifica has random moments where the steering wheel feels really stiff while in motion. So stiff, It’s on the verge of me not being able to steer! It also has random moments where the engine will stall while I am in motion. Sometimes when I press the gas to accelerate it will have a moment of lagging then it will abruptly shift into a higher gear. I’m wondering if there is something seriously wrong and if I should stop driving it. I have four small children and I need reassurance that this vehicle is in fact safe. I’ve been hearing and reading stories of other Pacifica owners dealing with the same problems with severe consequences.
Engine code p0303. Spark plug, intake plenum gasket, and coil replaced but still have the same code. Many other pacificas with the same engine have the same misfire problem that gets fixed by replacing head casket or engine.
The engine overheated due to a coolant leak and faulty head gaskets that need replaced at 62k miles. A related cyclinder 4 misfire has been occurring since 58k miles. Chrysler refuses to cover the repair under the 60k Powertrain warranty and does not acknowledge the many reports of head gaskets failing between 50-80k miles.
While driving, the motor began to vibrate and lose power as if not firing on all cylinders, and acted as if it was going to stall in the lane of travel, causing me to have to pull off to the shoulder abruptly, striking a mailbox. The vehicle does not display any trouble lights or show any error codes on diagnostic equipment at an independent garage. Vehicle idles roughly.
Symptoms: Rough Idle Check Engine Light Code: P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire. Noticed the Coolant was low, and topped it off with distilled water. I've only owned it for a year and have had NO issues with overheating. The next day it wouldn't start. Towed to the dealer. Dealer replaced the starter and pulled out plug #5 and "coolant shot out of the spark plug hole". Dealers recommended service is Head Gasket replacement, with the possibility of head being re-surfaced or complete engine replacement. I was lucky the vehicle was in my driveway when it failed to start. It appears this exact scenario has happened to at least 50 other folks active in a single online community at 60,000-80,000 odometer miles (mine is at 74,000). So I believe this situation is much larger.
The 2017 Pacifica will sometimes have a lack of power when trying to accelerate, and/or will jerk or shutter. Other times, mainly when the engine is warm, it will shutter and die when starting the engine. Sometimes it will take two or three restart attempts for the engine to remain running. In one instance in slow moving stop and go traffic the vehicle stuttered and then accelerated toward the car in front and I had to slam on the brakes to prevent a collision. The vehicle has been back at the dealer multiple times and they claim there are not any codes they can use to diagnose the problem. Even when the engine dies it does not cause the check engine light to come on. When they scan the codes they usually find P0171 and P0174, but they say the codes are not active, only stored. I am told the...
Vehicle was misfiring, took it to the mechanic said it was the 3rd cylinder. Had that replaced, but the vehicle continued to have problems. It lost power while driving but I was able to maneuver it off the road. Took it back to the mechanic where he stated the head gasket had busted. There was no sign or indication of the vehicle overheating or anything prior to all of this.
Lots of misfire took it to dealer reported it was from spark plug replaced but contined same issue. Then driving everything fine car stalled and wouldn't start. Now being told it's the head gasket. No warning of overheating or anything
I was driving on the highway when my vehicle began to shake and became undriveable. Before this incident I had brought the vehicle to the mechanic for a check engine light showing that there was a misfire and coils needed to be replaced. The coils and spark plugs were replaced but on this day the misfire caused the van to shake on the highway before becoming undriveable. I could not pull over and was left in the middle of the highway unable to drive my vehicle. This created a huge safety hazard as cars were driving by at 55mph and I could not pull over to the shoulder then had to wait for a tow truck. I then had this problem fixed for the 3rd time when on my way home from work today 8/11/22 the van once again began shaking, check engine light came on and misfiring, luckily this...
WE PURCHASED A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ONBOARD COMPUTER DISPLAYED A TRANSMISSION CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS NO TRANSMISSION CODE AND THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE CONTACT FUELING THE VEHICLE WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TURNING LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. AFTER 5-6 SECONDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD AND ACCELERATED AS THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE issues. Passenger side rear door opening and closing repeatly. Steering stiff and steering cloud locking and jerking the car to the right...
Vehicle stalls out in motion at intersection. Loss of all electrical power. Vehicle comes back on after restarting in a intersection.
While trying to accelerate after stopping at a red light, engine turned off and a warning message appeared on dashboard saying go to park. Car only re-started after several attempts.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle started shuddering. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic twice where it was diagnosed that cylinder #4 was misfiring. The independent mechanic replaced the spark plugs, ignition coils, and fuel injectors. However, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the engine needed to be disassembled to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
Stalling and loss of power, the car computer reader code is P0305. 5th cylinder misfire, and a P0300 cylinder misfire. 2017 pacifica with 62,000 miles and there are tons of people with the same issue around the same mileage. Funny how the drivetrain warranty ends at 55,000 miles and all of these Pacificas are failing at 60,000 - 80,000 with blown headgaskets or bad cylinders. $2000-$12000 depending on what blew.
Took vehicle in for safety recall for stop/start function. Engine light came on stop/start function is no longer working. Dealer says code P0303
I have a blown head gasket and my car has been in the shop for over 3 months because the part is not available. The car has never overheated. I'm so frustrated as I know this is a known problem with these cars. The car is at the shop, sitting in pieces because of the lack of parts available.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine START/STOP feature failed, causing the vehicle to lose motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer performed Customer Satisfaction Notification: Y65 (Engine Start/Stop) however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,600.
At 57,000 miles my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was having a rough cold start. Engine light comes on and take it to mechanic, Cylinder 4 misfire. Spark plugs, manifold gaskets, and ignition coil replaced. Receive car back, still starting rough and check engine light appears again. Call Chrysler dealership for an appointment. They are backed up in a week. At that point the van was not driven, and dies. vehicle gets towed to the dealership- bad starter and possibly another cylinder misfire. Starter replaced, car rough starts and coolant starts leaking into cylinder black smoke coming from exhaust. Cylinder 3 misfired and now being told that either the head gasket needs to be replace or the cylinder head because it may be cracked or warped.
Car started having a ticking noise above the dashboard, the ticking noise started a few months ago but did not affect the driving ability of the vehicle. A few weeks ago I got an engine misfire error. After the misfire the car then quickly deteriorated and stopped turning over but the electrical still worked. I had the car towed to the dealership and it looks like it will require a new engine or long block. The dealership is having the same errors we had at home but they were able to put in a new starter to get it to turn over. The dealership is currently taking a part the engine to determine what all needs to be replaced. We were lucky that this issue started when we were leaving our home. Had this engine failure happened during a drive on the freeway it may have been determinantal to me...
The vehicle stalled on the road in the middle of an intersection and then again in a turn lane a few hours later in the same day. The car was in drive, rumbled near the front of the vehicle, lurched forward, and then the engine cut out and would not restart. Trying to start the car again made a REVVVVVV-putta-putta-putta noise and there was not any control of the ignition on my end. It revved up and then hovered around 1/2 of 1 RPM on the dash then it would cut out and ask me to put it in park and start again. Hitting the engine start button did nothing and the dash electronics seemed to cut in and out. Each time I went to restart the car, it went from being in drive to stalling to needing 5+ minutes before it could be driven again, this happened without warning....
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated with smoke coming from the exhaust. The contact stated that she continued driving however, later in the day the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that coolant was leaking into the gasket and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer to be repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer informed her that they would assist with repairs at a dealer as part of a Goodwill Program. The contact stated that the failure was an ongoing failure and that the vehicle was previously repaired for an engine failure. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.
Driving down the road and suddenly engine shut off without warning, lost power immediately, RPMs went to zero, dash said "Shift to Park." Tried to pull over, didn't get completely out of the way because no power from engine so car had to swerve around us. Shifted to park, tried to restart, didn't work until third time to restart car so that I could drive home. Ridiculously unsafe for the car engine to just shut off without warning in middle of road. Looks like this is the same recall Chrysler tried to fix years ago. Someone is going to die from this defect. Thank God I was on a local road and not the highway when this happened. This car model should be taken off the road immediately.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving 18 MPH and approaching a stop sign and depressing the brake pedal, she began to hear an abnormal noise and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after 8 minutes and drove to her destination. The contact called an independent mechanic and made them aware of the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact called Flemington Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM (204B US-202, Flemington, NJ 08822: (908) 760-6225) and Reedman Toll Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Fiat of Langhorne (1700 Lincoln Hwy #103, Langhorne, PA 19047: (215) 757-4961) and made them aware of the failure. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and the vehicle was being serviced for the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was...
6-8-22 Driving roughly 15 MPH through town square and screen said "shift to P" could not steer and vehicle shut off. No other warning lights or messages were displayed. Has not had any precious similar issues. I put it in park, turn the vehicle off and restarted it. Started fine.
The vehicle shut off while driving at a slow speed, 10 - 15 mph. Lost complete power to vehicle as we where making our way through an intersection, it was very difficult to steer and maneuver. We made it across but only to put those behind me at risk. Panicked, I had not realized that on screen a message appeared on the instrument cluster, Put in Park and Start. The vehicle started right up and we were moving again. For more than 2 years we have been dealing with intermittent hard shifting and the dealer, because they are not able to replicate they say they can't diagnose to be able to fix. I don't know if it is related or not but I thought I mention it since its a common customer complaint in the Pacifica Forums. We've learned to live with hard shifting can't really afford to buy a...
Since I purchased this vehicle used less than a year ago, I have had an issue with rough shifting or the vehicle feeling like it loses power then lurches when it finally shifts. Now over the past couple months I have had it in the shop 4 times, the 4th time it's at a Chrysler dealership. Check engine light comes on and is blinking, car is shaking and knocking terribly. the shaking does subside after you drive a minute and the engine warms up but the problem has progressively gotten worse each time the light comes back on as I do have to continue driving it. Now the dealership states there is condensation in the cylinder, indicated either a blown head gasket or a warped cylinder head but there is no way to know without tearing the whole engine out of the car and tearing it apart. I'm also told...
