2017 Chrysler Pacifica Minivan Right passenger door fell off and out at the back when my wife was opening the door manually in NJ 20 degree temp - - almost injuring my wife. The back end corner of the door fell to the ground when both the top support and middle support came completely out of their tracks. The door is still attached front bottom. The door is very heavy and could have cause severe injury if rear corner landed on a foot or a child. It also shattered the glass corner and track behind the door throwing shards of broken sharp pieces over the floor as shown in pics.
Sliding doors open when you open either front door.
Numerous issues: 1. Multiple misfire codes, check engine 2. Loss of Coolant, no indication of leaks 3. Faulty thermostat. Loss of A/C and heat 4. Bottom of both sliding door panels corroded, with paint loss 5. Uconnect system malfunctioned, not working at all **Repairs have costs thousands already. And based on the other complaints, probably much, much more. Something is obviously wrong here, but Chrysler is NOT doing much about it unfortunately.
Passenger sliding door fell off
Driver side sliding door fell off onto my wife causing window to break and was hanging by just a cable on bottom track.
The auto opening passenger side door was only opening half way and stopping. Aware that there might be a component that prevented proper function we stopped the door by using electric eye and opened the door manually. This worked fine. We were traveling when this issue started. When we returned home I was unloading the van. It opened half way and started to close. I stood in the door to get it to stop closing. When it stopped I took the handle so I could close the Door this action triggered the motor. The door finished opening and fell off. I caught it. I was by myself and had no children with me. I had groceries near by that I used to prop the door. I was then able to assess the situation. There are two small rollers that run under the back window. They are hooked to a hing...
This week was the SECOND time our van lost both low beam headlights at the same time while driving at night. Both times the dealership wanted over $500 to replace them. Our drive train will catch while driving. We took our van in for this problem and were told by the dealership that "its just the way the transmission is made" When we bought the vehicle it was two years old and had rust spots on the hood. We had it repaired. Now, two years later the same rust bubbles are starting to appear on the hood.
Was at my house and opened my door like normal. Door fell off the rear hinge and stayed connected on the front, but with the door now open. The van won't drive because the parking brake will just keep turning on.
When driving my car will suddenly stall like it’s trying to change gears and jerks back pretty bad when it speeds back up. I e taken it to the dealership a few times and they said it’s normal. It seems to be getting more and more often. I also have bubbled paint on the hood of my car.
Today I could not get my fuel door to open. This is frequent and I’ve had it replaced once already. Today I in frustration accidentally popped off the door to the fuel tank and had to go to a dealership to even get it open and get fuel. Then I get home and I try to open the sliding door and it fell off. It was still connected on the track on the bottom. I looked it up and this seems to be a frequent complaint not just mine.
The driver’s side passenger door was opened but then failed to close. That is when the sliding door completely broke away from its track & shattered the back window. The door almost injured me & could have seriously injured my younger daughter who was in the vehicle when this failure occurred. Upon looking at the damage afterwards there is significant rust to the components. No warning indicators where on & it will be brought to Monday 7/11/22 to a Chrysler dealership.
After running my van through the car wash we found water leaking into the left rear interior through the roof. We took the vehicle to the dealer and they showed us the left rear seam under the roof trim was not completely sealed and had a hole in it. The seam sealer from the factory is painted in color and we had to pay to have our roof resealed due to factory defect. This could be safety related in nature due to exhaust gases from the tail pipe flowing back into the unsealed vehicle.
I have twin boys, I let them out of their car seats after returning from daycare. I took bags in my house and returned to find my door off the upper track and hanging from the lower attachment causing much stress to the bracket and and scratching my exterior paint. From the door opening and closing so many time off the track. This occurred after my son said he hit that button on the door a few times. This door could of easily fallen off or hurt one of my sons. Very scary! Also I found numerous other Pacifica forums that say the side windows have broken on there vehicles after this same type of event has happened. The rear passenger door opens on its own. Several times I have returned to my car and found the rear door opened. After researching it, this is a know problem by Chrysler and they never recalled the vehicle. Thanks god i did not have my car or any valuables stolen. This car was bought used in 2020. It had less than 15000 miles on it at that time and was still under original warrantee. I took it to a Chrysler dealership for some minor repairs which they resolved. I informed them that there was a rapid acceleration issue which they couldn't resolve. For the last year it has continued. It only happens at low speeds an is definitely not a pedal issue I recently happened while pulling into a handicap spot and I hit a pole. It was fortunate that it wasn't a crosswalk or some on could have been seriously injured.
MY VAN HAS 54,000 MILES IT'S NOT VERY OLD AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SKIPPING (UP SHIFTING, DOWN SHIFTING, AND HIGHWAY DRIVING) I KEEP TAKING IT TO THE DEALER SHIP THEY KEEP RUNNING UPDATES ON IT AND IT'S STILL SKIPPING. THE VAN HAS A VERY ROUGH IDLE (KEEPS FEELING LIKE IT'S GOING TO TURN OFF WHILE IT'S IN PARK) SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH IT AND THE DEAL SHIP THINKS IT'S OKAY. WELL IT'S NOT. THE FRONT HOOD HAS BUBBLES IN THE PAINT AND IT'S STILL A NEW VEHICLE HOW AM I TO THINK I WILL BE OWNING THIS VAN FOR ATLEAST 10 MORE YEARS AND IT'S BECOMING RUSTED ALREADY.
MY 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA LIMITED PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR FELL OFF TODAY. VAN WAS STATIONARY. MY KIDS OPENED THE DOOR WITH THE AUTOMATIC OPEN BUTTON ON OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. THE DOOR OPENED AND THEN THE KIDS GOT IN THE VAN AND PUSHED THE INTERIOR CLOSE BUTTON AND THE DOOR GOT JAMMED. THEN MY WIFE TRIED TO MOVE IT AND COULDN'T GET IT TO OPEN ALL THE WAY OR CLOSE. SHE THEN REALIZED A PART WAS SITTING ON THE GROUND AND HAD FALLEN OFF. THIS IS WHEN I GOT CALLED TO LOOK AT THE VAN. LUCKILY, THE DOOR DIDN'T FALL TO THE GROUND AND INSTEAD FELL OFF ITS TRACK ON THE BOTTOM HINGE THAT POWERS THE DOOR BACK AND FORTH. THE PART THAT FELL OFF IS THE BRACKET TO HOLD THE DOOR UP AND KEEP IT ATTACHED CLOSE TO THE TRACK THAT SITS RIGHT ON THE REAR BOTTOM OF THE SLIDING DOOR...
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP AND BEGIN TO ACCELERATES IT LIKE IT GOES TO NEUTRAL THE ENGINE'S BEEN REVS AND THEN SHIFTS BACK INTO GEAR CAN CAUSE A REALLY HARD JARRED IN THE CAR ALL HAPPENS IN ABOUT A SECOND IT HAS DONE IT ROUGHLY 20 OR SO TIMES IN THE 4 MONTHS WE'VE OWNED IT AND THE AND WHEN BREAKING AND ACCELERATING YOU CAN HEAR A CLICKING IN THE FRONT OF DRIVER TIRE AREA AND THE BACK SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT ALWAYS SHUT IT TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WHAT THE ELECTRIC MOTORS SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY SHUT THE DOORS
THE VAN LOST CONTROL ON ITS OWN AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO BREAK WHATSOEVER, UNTIL I GOT INTO A VERY DANGEROUS ACCIDENT. I WAS TOLD BY FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, BUT THERE CERTAINLY WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BREAKS. THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH MY DRIVING, NOR WAS THERE ANY ISSUE WITH THE WEATHER. I AM A SEASONED DRIVER OF OVER 20+ YEARS, AND THE WEATHER THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT WAS COMPLETELY SUNNY AND IT WAS BRIGHT DAYLIGHT OUTSIDE. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD ON A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE VAST NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS REGARDING BREAKS AND VEHICLE SAFETY FOR THIS TYPE OF CAR.*DT*JB
BUBBLING OF PAINT ON THE FRONT EDGE OF HOOD - ENTIRE WIDTH OF HOOD. APPEARS LIKE IT IS RUSTING UNDERNEATH THE PAINT.
PASSENGER LEFT DOOR HAS SEVERE GRINDING SOUND, ALSO FAILS TO CLOSE SOMETIMES. RIGHT HAND PASSENGER DOOR HINGE WAS REPLACED IN SEPTEMBER 2019
THE VAN WAS PARKED AND THE BACK GLASS SHATTERED BY ITSELF. I WAS JUST SITTING IN THE VAN AND BOOM, GLASS SHATTERED.
POPPING / CREAKING NOISE COMING FROM LEFT AND RIGHT B-PILLARS WHEN VEHICLE ACCELERATES FROM A STOP. POSSIBLE BODY FLEXING NOISE.
TRANSMISSIONS JERKS HARD WHEN YOU GO FROM A LOW SPEED TO A HIGHER SPEED. PLUS IT WON'T RESPND WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS. TRIED CROSSING AN INTERSECTION AND GOT STUCK IN THE MIDDLE FOR A FEW SECONDS WITH CARA COMING AT ME BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT GO. WAS PRESSING ON THE GAS BUT NO RESPONSE. NOW THE PAINT IS AL BUBBLING UP AROUND THE EDGE OF MY HOOD. THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I GOT THE CAR. CHRYSLER WILL DO NOTHING. THE PAINT STARTED A COUPLE MONTHS AGO.
FIRST, THE TWO BATTERIES IN THE VEHICLES ARE FAILING PREMATURELY. OURS JUST FAILED ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THE START/STOP SYSTEM LIGHT ACTIVATED ON DASH. OUR VAN WAS PARKED FOR 7 DAYS AT AN AIRPORT AND UPON RETURNING FROM VACATION THE BATTERIES WERE DEAD AND UNABLE TO BE RECHARGED. IRONICALLY, MY SISTER-IN LAW IN CALIFORNIA WHOM WE WERE VISITING, HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIRS WHILE WE WERE THERE. AGAIN, A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY ACCORDING TO GOOGLE RESEARCH AND CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. SOME PEOPLE ARE HAVING THEIR VAN DIE OR STALL WHILE IN MOTION. SECOND, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PAINT BUBBLING UP AROUND THE HOOD EDGES. AGAIN, MY RESEARCH ON GOOGLE AND CARCOMPLAINTS.COM REVEALS MANY ARE SUFFERING THIS BUBBLING PAINT ISSUE. I'VE ONLY HAD THIS CHRYSLER PACIFICA LIMITED FOR 3 MONTHS, BEFORE BUYING I DIDN'T SEE THAT THE HOOD WAS RUSTING UNDERNEATH THE PAINT. THE PAINT IS BUBBLING UP AT THE END OF THE HOOD. IS THIS HAPPENING WITH OTHER PACIFICAS?
VEHICLE "JERKS" WHEN AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTING. THIS HAPPENS AT SLOW SPEEDS, WHILE IN MOTION, ON CITY STREETS. HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER, AND WAS TOLD NOTHING COULD BE DONE UNLESS THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT WAS ON. PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL RETRACT AS IF SOMETHING IS BLOCKING ITS TRACK WHEN THERE IS NOTHING THERE. PAINT IS BUBBLING ON THE HOOD

THE PACIFIACA WILL STALL ON YOU IIN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WHILE YOUR DRIVING IT WHICH CAN CAUSE A SERIOUSLY BAD ACCIDENT. AND WHEN IT DO THIS THEN IT TAKE OFF WHICH CAN CAUSE YOU TO HURT SOMEONE AS WELL. LAST NIGHT, I OPENED MY CAR DOOR THAT WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT TO PUT MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN HER CAR SEAT. THE SLIDING CAR DOOR FELL OFF, DRIVER'S REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. SIDE SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH SIDES OPEN AND CLOSE RANDOMLY WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY AND IN PARK. THESE DOORS HAVE OPENED ON THEIR OWN WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROAD AND WHILE PARKED OVER NIGHT. THEY HAVE CLOSED UNEXPECTEDLY PINNING A PASSENGER ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE VEHICLE.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO MY SON'S DOCTOR APPOINTMENT, PULLED INTO THE HOSPITAL/CLINIC PARKING LOT, PARKED MY VEHICLE AND TURNED IT OFF. I HEARD A POP AFTER I TURNED IT OFF AND WHEN I STEPPED OUTSIDE, I SMELLED SMOKE. DARK SMOKE WAS COMING UP BOTH SIDES OF THE HOOD SO I GOT MY SON OUT OF HIS CAR SEAT, RAN AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE AND CALLED 911. IN A MATTER OF MINUTES THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS QUICK ON THE SCENE AND PUT OUT THE FIRE, BUT IT WAS GAS SO IT TOOK SOME TIME TO PUT OUT. VEHICLE IS TOTAL LOSS. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY HAVE NOT CALLED ME. AN INSPECTOR THEY HIRED HAS AND IS LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE THIS WEEK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLASTIC COVERING ON THE DOOR LATCH WAS TOO THICK. AS A RESULT, THE LATCH WOULD TIGHTEN WHEN AN OBJECT TOUCHED THE LOCK, EVEN AS THE DOOR WAS LOCKED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A CHILD'S FINGER WAS CRUSHED WHEN THE CHILD TOUCHED THE PLASTIC WHILE THE DOOR WAS LOCKED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE ISLAND CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM DEALER (1239 HYLAN BLVD, STATEN ISLAND, NY 10305, 718-408-8968) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONTACT PLACED A STRAW ON THE PLASTIC COVERING WHILE THE DOOR WAS LOCKED, THE PLASTIC CRUSHED THE STRAW. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY. DOAN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM FIAT (4477 RIDGE RD W, ROCHESTER, NY) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THE FAILURE ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, NO REMEDY WAS OFFERED BECAUSE THE DEALER NEEDED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,000.
THE DRIVER SIDE POWER DOOR ONES AGAIN WHEN TRYING TO CLOSE IT IT WENT BACK WITH OUT NOTHING IN THE WAY
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR ON VARIOUS OCCASIONS ALMOST COMPLETES THE CLOSING PROCESS AS IT COMES TO LOCK IT BEEPS AND BOUNCES BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND NO OBSTRUCTIONS IN THE WAY. IN OTHER INSTANCES MORE RECENTLY THE TRANSMISSION HAD A ROUGH SHIFT ON LOWER GEARS. THE REAR AUTOMATIC CARGO DOOR STARTS OPENING AND GETS STUCK AT THE MIDWAY POINT.
ON TWO OCCASIONS, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS POWERED OFF, THE PASSENGER DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BEGAN TO CLOSE WITHOUT WARNING AND PUSH AGAINST MY BODY WHILE I WAS LOADING MY CHILD INTO HER CAR SEAT. THE KEYS WERE NOT NEAR THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND NO ONE ELSE WAS AROUND, SO NO BUTTONS WERE BEING PUSHED TO PROMPT THE DOOR TO BEGIN CLOSING. I HAD TO PUSH AGAINST THE DOOR WITH MY BODY TO GET IT TO RETRACT. IN ONE CASE, IT TRIED TO CLOSE ON ME A SECOND TIME.
THE REAR SLIDING DOORS DO NOT CLOSE AND LATCH PROPERLY. THEY WILL ALMOST FULLY CLOSE AND THEN POP BACK OPEN LIKE SOMETHING IS IN THE WAY. IT STARTED WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE ONLY. NOW, BOTH SIDES DO IT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE MOTORS, LATCHES, FUEL DOOR SENSORS, UPDATED SOFTWARE, EVERY COMPONENT OF THE DOOR THEY CAN AND CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IT IS INTERMITTENT, BUT FREQUENT. IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM, THE CHRYSLER MECHANIC TURNED THE PINCH SENSOR DOWN SO LOW THAT IT NOW POSES A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE THE DOOR DOES NOT SENSE IF AN OBJECT IS IN IT, UNTIL IT HAS FULLY CLOSED AND THEN POPS BACK OPEN. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY (I.E. THE DOORS DO NOT OPEN BY THEMSELVES WHEN DRIVING). IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW I OPEN OR CLOSE THE DOORS (I.E. WITH THE OVERHEAD INTERIOR BUTTON, THE INTERIOR DOOR...
CHRYSLER PACIFICA, 2017 DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPEN'S ON IT'S OWN,...IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS IN THE CAR AND IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS OUT OF THE CAR....CAME OUT OF A STEAK HOUSE FROM EATING THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR WAS OPEN...ALSO,.IT WON'T CLOSE ALL THE WAY WHEN THE BUTTON IS PUSHED...IT GOES ALMOST SHUT THEN..OPENS BACK UP..IT ALSO WILL SHUT ON IT'S OWN WHILE YOU ARE GETTING ITEMS OUT AND IT WILL NOT OPEN AS IT SHOULD WHEN IT DETECTS SOMETHING IN THE WAY, IT CONTINUES TO CLOSE AND YOU CAN'T PUSH IT BACK OPEN...YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OR THE WAY....IF A CHILD WAS IN THE DOORWAY IT WOULD DEFINITELY GET HURT...THE RADIO STOPS WORKING WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD LISTENING TO IT RADIO/USB EITHER ONE...YOU HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, TURN THE CAR OFF AND START THE CAR BACK UP TO GET THE RADIO...
POWER SLINDING DOORS WILL RANDOMLY STOP WORKING. DASHBOARD SHOWS "POWER DOOR UNAVAILABLE. OPERATE MANUALLY". AFTER TAKING IT TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS WITH A VIDEO SHOWING THE ISSUE, THEY JUST KEEP SAYING THERE ARE NO CODES SO NOTHING CAN BE DONE.
ZF 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DISENGAGES AT SLOW SPEEDS PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR SLOW AND ROUGH WHEN OPENING.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, MY 5 YEAR OLD WAS EXITING THE DRIVER SIDE BACK SLIDING DOOR. HE PUSHED THE INTERIOR BUTTON TO OPEN THE DOOR AND BUTTON WAS ACCIDENTALLY TAPPED TWICE. WHILE HE WAS EXITING, THE DOOR BEGAN TO CLOSE AND DID NOT SENSE HIS BODY. CONTINUED TO CLOSE UNTIL HIS HEAD WAS PINNED BETWEEN DOOR AND DOOR FRAME. I HAD TO PUSH IT OPEN WITH FORCE TO RELEASE HIS HEAD. THIS WAS NOT REGISTERED AS A MALFUNCTION ON DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE THE DOOR REQUIRES TO STOP CLOSING. IT IS ALSO VERY INCONSISTENT. SOMETIMES I CAN MAKE IT STOP WITH ONE FINGER. SOMETIMES IT REQUIRES MY ENTIRE BODY WEIGHT (GROWN WOMAN) PUSHED AGAINST THE DOOR. MY CHILDREN ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO STOP THE DOORS FROM CLOSING ON THEM. CHILD WAS NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED. 12,000 MILES.

LEFT SLIDING DOOR WILL, WHEN DOOR HANDLE IS PULLED WILL CLOSE AND IMMEDIATELY OPEN AGAIN ON IT'S OWN. BUT NOT EVERY TIME. YOU CAN'T MAKE IT DO IT. JUST WHEN IT WANTS TOO.
