TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLASTIC COVERING ON THE DOOR LATCH WAS TOO THICK. AS A RESULT, THE LATCH WOULD TIGHTEN WHEN AN OBJECT TOUCHED THE LOCK, EVEN AS THE DOOR WAS LOCKED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A CHILD'S FINGER WAS CRUSHED WHEN THE CHILD TOUCHED THE PLASTIC WHILE THE DOOR WAS LOCKED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE ISLAND CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM DEALER (1239 HYLAN BLVD, STATEN ISLAND, NY 10305, 718-408-8968) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONTACT PLACED A STRAW ON THE PLASTIC COVERING WHILE THE DOOR WAS LOCKED, THE PLASTIC CRUSHED THE STRAW. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION.
