I have not gotten into an accident. I have noticed for a long time my van transmission seems to have problems shifting. I will be starting to accelerate, and when i reCh speeds between 25-55 it often feels like I have no power (more often with time) I can hear the van "revving" bur not increasing speed at the rate it should be. Then all of a sudden the transmission feels like it "catches" and it lurches forward. Making it feel like the van us going to literally fall apart, or have the enginefall out. It is a very scary!! And it is getting worse even though when this happens I have started to take my foot off the gas because it I feel something terrible will happen. The battery constantly dies. If we go 1 day without driving, we have to jump it. The screen will malfunction and black out. The sliding doors will not close requiring us to close them several times before they actually close properly. We’ve had issues with the emergency brake automatically engaging after some of the battery issues as well without indicating the parking brake is on. We’ve replaced the first battery after roughly 3.5 years, and still the battery that is less than 1 year old dies constantly. We’ve had 2 garages do diagnostics and replace parts (1 being a dodge/Chrysler dealer) and even after thousands of dollars spent to fix the problem, a week later the battery is dead again. Check engine light appeared on my control panel of my 2017 Pacifica on 3/7/2022. I took my vehicle to Tires Plus to have it fixed. The code that the computer was giving was P000B. It was in the shop for 3 days, they checked and tested all sensors and finally determined that it was R/R CAM PHASER SYL and 0504778AD Timing Solenoid. New parts were installed on 3/12/2022 at $125. I returned on 3/17/2022 after the check engine light came back on, the technicians thought it was a issue with the reset of the check engine light. On 3/19/2022 I returned yet again for the check engine light. Tires Plus was unable to determine what the problem and recommended that I take it to the dealer. On 3/24/2022 I took my vehicle to the dealer for the same issue. They charged my $340 to reprogram and clean the cam shaft...
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking oil. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the oil filter housing was fractured and leaking. The oil filter needed to be replaced; however, the part was on back order and was not yet replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
Around 35,000 miles - MIL light came on showing DTC P000D (Camshaft Position Slow Response Bank 2). Followed by rough up/down shifts, lack of power on acceleration, lack of downshifting as expecting, and rough idle at low speeds. Code self cleared and MIL disappeared. Engine oil checked and changed. Code came back/self cleared until vehicle was taken to dealer at 47,317 miles. Below service was performed - included checking the camshaft - sensors and replacing the PCM under warranty. Now at 52,000 miles and six months later - DTC P000D, rough shifts, lack of acceleration and rough idle have come back. Dealer does not have any availability until 4/23 - however an appointment has been made. DTC comes and clears. MY 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA STARTED LEAKING OIL AT 69000 MILES . I NOTIFIED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY WILL CHECK IT OUT , THEY DID, AND FOUND THE ENGINE OIL COOLER LEAKING OIL.THIS IS A VERY BIG SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE ENGINE CAN RUN OUT OF OIL AND SEIZE UP AN EXPRESSWAY DRIVING 65 MPH AND CAUSE DEATH OR OTHER SERIOUS INJURY. NO VEHICLE SHOULD EVERY LEAK OIL AT ONLY 69000 MILES, THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT AND ALL 3.6 CHRYSLER ENGINE SHOULD BE RECALLED. I HAD TO PAY 969.00 TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. A head gasket malfunction causes fumes to get into the coolant system and overheat the vehicle.
Hard shift when down shifting at lower speed that causes intense jerk of vehicle.
Delayed engagement and hard shifting when driving in lore stopped. Especially noticeable when driving in there city, stop and go traffic.
When I was driving at local road around 20 miles per hour, the engine suddenly shut down. My car was stopped in the middle of road. I had to shift the gear to park and restart the engine and go. This has been happened three times in the past two months.
We were about to turn left onto a busy highway. Pulled into traffic and vehicle stalled with 2 adults and 4 children in the car. While stuck in the middle of the high way with oncoming traffic from both sides we started honking the horn and waving traffic to stop. Husband noticed a blinking “D” light on the shifter knob and an alert on the dash that read something like “shift to park”. Due to the incline of the road we rolled backwards off the highway. We luckily were not hit by oncoming traffic but completely terrified by the situation. Had that highway been as busy as it usually is we would be dead. Shifted back to park. The start/stop feature says to service the system and it effects how the vehicle drives. There’s no pick up and the RPMs are messed up. I have had it to the dealership 5 times and they’ve fixed a few things but the problem persists.
Our 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was stopped in traffic on Clinton River Road, Sterling Heights Michigan. When we engaged the gas pedal the vehicle would not start. The vehicle has the engine stop/start feature. By that we mean when the vehicle stops the engine stops and restarts when the gas pedal is depressed. Because we were blocking traffic, the police called for a tow truck which costs us $100. The dealer diagnosed the problem to be the starter with an estimate of $750, Because we had purchased the MOPAR extended warranty our cost was $200. The dealer also informed us that there is no way to permanently disable the stop/start feature. We believe this feature is a safety issue because we never now when the vehicle will not start after stopping and could cause a major traffic jam as it for us. VEHICLE WILL NOT GIVE POWER ON TAKE OFF AND WILL NOT GIVE POWER AT 45-55 MPH. THIS HAS CAUSED MANY ISSUES WHERE ACCIDENTS COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED. TOOK TO MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS AND THEY BOTH SAID IT WAS THE WAY THE 9-SPEED AUTOMATIC BEHAVED. A VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BEHAVE IN A WAY THAT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. THEY COULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS THE VEHICLE ITSELF.
THIS VEHICLE IS A HANDICAP CONVERSION VAN MODIFIED BY REVABILITY / VMI IN THE MODIFICATION - REVABILITY HAS REPLACED THE FACTORY FUEL TANK WITH ONE OF THEIR OWN DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION. IN DOING SO - THEY USE THE CHRYSLER FACTORY COMPONENTS SUCH AS THE FUEL PUMP, FUEL GAUGE SENDER UNIT, EMISSIONS CONNECTIONS, ETC. HOWEVER - THE FUEL GAUGE HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY SINCE I PURCHASED THE VAN AND IT GIVES MISLEADING INFORMATION ABOUT THE FUEL LEVEL. IT REGISTERS ONLY 3/4 FULL ON THE DASH WHEN IN FACT THE TANK IS FULL. THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO OUT, A NOTICE WOULD COME UP STATING " POWER STEERING UNAVAILABLE", THEN THE POWER STEERING WOULD WORK FOR ABOUT 60 SECONDS AND GO OUT AGAIN AND THEN REPEAT THE PROBLEM. THIS JUST STARTING HAPPENING ON 4/10/21. WE HAD JUST GOTTEN INTO THE VAN AND STARTED DRIVING, WE WENT ABOUT 1/2 MILE, IT HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES. MY VAN HAS 54,000 MILES IT'S NOT VERY OLD AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SKIPPING (UP SHIFTING, DOWN SHIFTING, AND HIGHWAY DRIVING) I KEEP TAKING IT TO THE DEALER SHIP THEY KEEP RUNNING UPDATES ON IT AND IT'S STILL SKIPPING. ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM IS NOT THERE WITH EVERY ACCELERATION, THE VAN SEEMS TO BE TUGGING, THEN JUMPING/PUSHING FORWARD, AND THEN RESUMING ACCELERATION. TWO ISSUES. FIRST, WHEN ACCELERATING, SOMETIMES THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES FOR ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS AND THEN REENGAGES AND CAUSES A SUDDEN JERK MOTION FORWARD. HAPPENS 3-4 TIMES A MONTH. THIS WILL HAPPEN ON BOTH CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. THIS HAS STARTED OVER 3 YEARS AGO. SECOND, THE ENGINE WILL STALL/SHUT OFF AT RANDOM TIMES ON CITY STREETS. IT OCCURS WHEN GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP AND ALSO OCCURS WHEN MAKING A U-TURN. IT TAKES QUICKLY SHIFTING BACK TO PARK, THEN PRESSING BRAKE AND START BUTTON TO START BACK UP. THIS HAS STARTED HAPPENING WITHIN THE LAST 3-6 MONTHS.
HAD TROUBLE STARTING CAR. BATTERY WAS CHECKED AND SAID TO BE GOOD. ISSUE STOPPED. 2 MONTHS LATER CAR IS COMPLETELY DEAD WHEN I GO TO CRANK ONE MORNING. NO INDICATOR LIGHTS EVER CAME ON. WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. STALLS FOR A SECOND DURING ACCELERATING VERY UNSAFE ON THE ROAD AND IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS WEEK AND THIRD TIME OVERALL WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT (THE AUTO START/STOP IS TURNED OFF) MY VEHICLE ENGINE COMPLETELY TURNED OFF. I GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DASH THAT SAID TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN. II LOSE ALL POWER STEERING, BRAKES ARE STIFF AND CANNOT DO ANYTHING, IT IS COMPLETELY OFF. L HAVE BEEN SO FORTUNATE EACH TIME IT HAPPENED TO HAVE BEEN STOPPED, AS I HAD MY KIDS IN THE CAR THE SECOND TIME AND THE LIGHT HAD CHANGED GREEN BUT I COULD NOT GO.
WHILE DRIVING ON A 50MPH 4 LANE ROAD WITH MY TWO CHILDREN 3 & 5, I DECELERATED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AND WITHIN 3 SECONDS THE CAR SPUTTERED TO A HALT WITH ALL POWER CUTTING OFF. IN A PANIC, I TRIED TO GET THE CAR STARTED AGAIN BUT IT DID NOT RESPOND TO THE IGNITION. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO GET MY KIDS OUT OF THE BACK SEAT AND BRING THEM TO SAFETY. I MANUALLY OPENED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND AFTER DOING SO, THE POWER CAME BACK ON TO THE CAR. I QUICKLY GOT BACK IN AND DROVE HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. WE HAVE SINCE SEARCHED THE VIN FOR RECALLS TO FIND THAT FOR WHATEVER REASON, MY VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL INVOLVED IN 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICAS WITH THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM OCCURRING. THE PACIFICA HAS A STALLING PROBLEM WHEN TAKING OFF. THEN IT JERKS INTO GEAR REALLY BAD . THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON GOING. DEALERSHIP SUPPOSEDLY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. IT NOW IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE.
WHEN ACCELERATING AT LOW SPEEDS THE VAN SHIFTS HARD INTO GEAR AND WILL NOT CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED. IF I DO NOT LET OFF THE GAS WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VAN WILL LUNGE FORWARD. THIS HAPPENS IN ALL CONDITIONS AND ON ALL ROAD TYPES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT'S FINE. I CAN NOT REPLICATE THIS ON DEMAND.

NO WARNING OR ANYTHING JUST DRIVING AROUND 50MPH AND EVERYTHING SHUTS OFF AND STEERING LOCKS UP YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE.THEN THE SCREEN POPS UP TELLING YOU TO PLACE IN PARK WHILE YOUR STILL TRAVELING 50MPH. THIS HAS NOW HAPPEND 3 TIMES. IT HAPPENS THE FIRST TIME IN MAY 2019 AROUND 48,000 MILES AND NOW 2 TIME ON JULY 8 2020 AT 74,000 MILES. I HAVE READ SEVERAL ARTICLES ONLINE THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO ALOT OF THESE VEHICLES AND THERE HAS BEEN OVER 50 COMPLAINTS BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE YET. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
CAR STARTS SHAKING WHILE DRIVING, WITH ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. ALSO SHAKING WHILE IDLING.
I PURCHASED THIS PACIFICA PRE-OWNED IN JULY 2019 WITH 18K+ MILES. FROM DAY ONE I COMPLAINED ABOUT 2 THINGS: 1. ROUGH IDLE (VIBRATION) AND 2. BRIEF LOSS OF POWER ON ACCELERATION AT ABOUT 17-18 MPH (FROM FULL STOP), THEN "LURCHING"/JOLTING INTO GEAR AND ACCELERATING PROPERLY THEREAFTER. PEMBROKE PINES, FL,AUTONATION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP DEALER FIRST SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS...THEN ACKNOWLEDGED THESE ARE ACTUALLY KNOWN COMMON ISSUES BUT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS. IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEMS, IT LOOKS LIKE NHTSA ISSUED TSBS FOR BOTH OF PROBLEMS WITH INSTRUCTIONS (TO CORRECT)..PLEASE FORWARD THE TSB NUMBERS AND/OR LINKS THAT I CAN PRINT AND BRING TO AUTONATION SERVICE. WHEN BRAKING WITH LEFT FOOT TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP... IF RIGHT FOOT IS ON ACCELERATOR THE CAR LOSES POWER (ENGINE KEEPS RUNNING THOUGH) AND CANNOT ACCELERATE AND MUST STOP ENGINE AND RESTART TO REGAIN CONTROL. RELATIVE HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS 2017 PACIFICA AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. CHRYSLER HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX MINE EITHER. CHRYSLER CLOSED MY CASE BASICALLY SAYING TAKE IT IN TO BE REPAIRED...THERE IS NO FIX. HAPPENING WHEN CAR NEW TO PRESENT.
WHEN PASSING A FARM TRACTOR CAR WENT IN TO THE PASSING GEAR AND THEN THERE WAS NO ACCELARTION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR COULD NOT SHUT CAR OFF AFTER AWHILE SIDE DOORS WOULDN'T OPEN AFTER ABOUT 2 HOURS CAR FINALLY STARTED AND WENT BACK TO NORMAL

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST SIX TIMES SINCE 2018. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NAPLETON'S NORTHLAKE CHRYSLER, JEEP/RAM (3701 NORTHLAKE BLVD, LAKE PARK, FL 33403) THEY HAD NOT RENDERED A DIAGNOSTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT I HAVE FILED IN 24 HOURS. I BELIEVE I AM HAVING A KNOWN PROBLEM/RECALL IN MY VEHICLE: ENGINE STALL DUE TO SOFTWARE ISSUE AN ENGINE STALL CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V049000 I DROVE ABOUT 3 MILES. PARKED MY VEHICLE AND PUSHED THE BUTTON TO OPEN THE SLIDING BACK DOOR. WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON THE ENTIRE VEHICLE TURNED OFF INCLUDING THE ENGINE AND ALL THE LIGHTS. NOTHING ON THE DASH REMAINED LIT. I TRIED TO RESTART IT AND NOTHING HAPPENED. NO SOUNDS, CLICK OR LIGHTS APPEARED. I OPENED MY DOOR AND WAITED ABOUT A MINUTE THEN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURNED ON. THE SLIDING BACK DOOR HAD TO BE MANUALLY PULLED SHUT AT THIS POINT. I TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I TRIED AGAIN AND IT HESITATED, THEN STARTED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT 10...
I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE IS HAVE THE ISSUE OF A KNOWN RECALL ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE: ENGINE STALL OR LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST OR A STALL CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF CRASH. I WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. I WAS INSTRUCTED ON THE SCREEN TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. ONCE I PUT IT IN PARK THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. I TRIED RESTARTING IT. THE BRAKE WAS STIFF AND WOULD NOT PUSH IN. WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON IT WENT TO "ACC" THEN WHEN I PUSHED IT AGAIN IT WENT TO "RUN" BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ON AND I COULD NOT CHANGE THE SHIFTER OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND HAPPENED WHILE VEHICLES WERE DRIVING BEHIND ME CAUSING PEOPLE TO SUDDENLY COME TO A STOP.

ADDITIONALLY, WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE ECONOMY FUEL FEATURE MALFUNCTIONED WHICH THE ENGINE TO NOT AUTOMATICALLY RESTART WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS WHICH CAUSED FAILURES TO THE WIND SHIELD WIPERS AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERS CHERRY HILL CHRYSLER (1708 WEST NJ AVE CHERRY HILL NY.) AND ROCKWALL CHRYSLER (970 EAST INTERSTATE 30, ROCKWELL TX) WHERE SOFTWARE UPDATES WERE PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND THE CONTACT RECEIVED CASE NUMBERS: [XXX], [XXX], AND [XXX]. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. *DT INFORMATION...
TRANSMISSION ISSUES ARE OUT OF CONTROL!!! VEHICLE LOOSES POWER AT LOW SPEED THEN LURCHES INTO GEAR THRUSTING FORWARD AT AN ALARMING RATE. THIS HAS PUT US IN DANGER SEVERAL TIMES. CHRYSLER FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE SAYING THEY CAN'T RECREATE THE EVENT. ON CHRISTMAS EVE THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT COMPLETELY GOING THROUGH A LIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY AND LIGHTS CAME ON AND WERE FLASHING. TOWED IT TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY TOLD US IT NEEDED 'REFLASHED' BASICALLY RECALIBRATED AND THAT EVERY PACIFICA WOULD NEED THIS UPDATE IN ORDER TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THEY ALSO CHARGED US $150 TO DO THIS MANDATORY UPDATE. SOUNDS AS IF THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL. I'M NOT HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THE VEHICLE IS BACK TO THE SAME ISSUES AND I KNOW IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. WE HAVE ALSO HAVE TO REPLACE ALL SPARK PLUGS AND ALL IGNITION COILS AS...
WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL SPARK PLUGS AND ALL IGNITION COILS AS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE JUST BREAKS DOWNS SUDDENLY CAUSE LIGHTS TO COME ON AND BE FLASHING WHILE SHAKING VERY VIOLENTLY AND NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY. THIS IS USUALLY FOLLOWING THE ISSUES WE HAVE WITH THE TRANSMISSION STALLING AND HARD SHIFTING FORWARD MORE OFTEN THAN USUAL. IT IS UNDERIVABLE IN THIS CONDITION AND REQUIRES A TOW TO THE SHOP. WE ARE TOLD THIS IS NORMAL MAINTENANCE BUT STARTING AT 6,000 MILES HARDLY SEEMS NORMAL. SPARK PLUGS SHOULDN'T EVEN NEED REPLACED UNTIL AT LEAST 100,000 MILES LET ALONE ANY SORT OF COIL.
WHILE IN MOTION AT LOWER SPEEDS THE TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY JERKS BETWEEN GEARS GIVING THE FEELING THE CAR IS OUT OF CONTROL.
