Purchased new, dealer twice during warranty kept vehicle for 6 weeks to do recall notice repairs. Now this 2010 has 42,000 miles and the steering is going bad. SB10056459-3388 describes the exact problem. During these two periods that recall repairs were done that should have addressed the problem even though the problem had not surfaced yet. This was a wear condition i was never informed of. It is getting worse now.
The power steering has issues when turning it seems to not work. Been have this problem for about a year. I’ve talked to other Buick owners and they have the same problem. I also have electrical issues on the drivers side door panel, where none of the switches work. Just all of a sudden quit.
JAN. 10 AT 8 AM MY DAUGHTER AND I LEFT SALT LAKE CITY TO DRIVE HOME TO LAS VEGAS. AT 8 AM, EVERYTHING WAS FINE, NO NOISE FROM THE VEHICLE NO CLANKING, NO SMELL. I COULD DO U TURNS AND SHARP TURNS TO PARK THE VEHICLE BEFORE STOPPING TO GET A BAGEL. WE ENTERED THE 15 SOUTH TO HEAD HOME, WE ARE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 70-80MPH. AT APPROXIMATELY 11:00AM WE ARE REACHING THE TOWN OF BEAVER, UTAH. I NEEDED TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY TO GAS UP AND WANTED AN ESPRESSO. WE EXIT THE FREEWAY AND AS I START SLOWING I CAN TELL MY POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT, I ALMOST HIT ON COMING TRAFFIC WHILE TURNING TO THE RIGHT WHEN COMING OFF THE EXIT BECAUSE IT WAS SO EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE OTHER DRIVER HAD TO SWERVE IN TO THE DIRT AREA TO AVOID HITTING MY DAUGHTER...
WHEN SLOWING DOWN, STEERING GETS HARD TO TURN
WHILE DECELERATING THE POWER STEERING RANDOMLY GOES OUT. I'M HAVING THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT FOR A SECOND TIME. I HAVE RECENTLY DONE THE RESEARCH AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN 2010 BUICK ENCLAVES AND GMC HAS YET TO MAKE A RECALL. I AM WRITING BECAUSE WE PURCHASED A 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE IN 2018. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING I NOTICED ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE AND IT HAD TO BE SERVICED TWICE WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS OF HAVING IT. AT THE TIME THE SERVICE DEPT. COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AND BLAMED IT ON MY ACCIDENTALLY TOUCHING THE MANUAL SHIFT ON THE SHAFT. I KNEW I WAS NOT DOING THIS. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE CAR DOING THIS WEIRD ACCELERATION AND ALL DURING THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS BUT [XXX] KEPT SAYING THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. WELL, I WAS STRANDED BECAUSE IT JUST STOPPED A FEW DAYS AGO AND HAD TO TAKE A 50.00 UBER HOME. I HAVE HAD TO UBER 3 TIMES NOW AND PURCHASED A CODE READER. THE CODE COMES BACK AS A TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED. IT SEEMS WHAT I WAS FEELING FROM THE VERY BEGINNING WAS IN FACT THIS ISSUE. I...
NUMEROUS TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEED MERGING ON AND OFF RAMPS INTO TRAFFIC THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT CAUSING ME TO APPLY MORE UPPER ARM STRENGTH TO MERGE AND THEN THE POWER STEERING COMES BACK ON CAUSING ME TO JERK THE VEHICLE INTO TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HIT VEHICLES IN FARTHEST LANE.
I RECENTLY JUST PURCHASED MY VEHICLE WITH 145,000 MILES WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS DURING TURNS. IT BECOMES VERY HARD AND DANGEROUS TO TURN. I HAVE TO TURN VERY SLOW WHICH IS DANGEROUS CAN COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED HOPEFULLY WE CAN FIND A WAY TO FIX THIS.

11 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT MY BUICK THE ENGINE WENT OUT THE DEALER SAID IT WAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME THE REPLACEMENT USED ALL MY WARRANTY. AND THERE HAS BEEN ONE AFTER ANOTHER PROBLEM. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS DURING TURNS ALMOST HAD SOME REAL SERIOUS FINDER BENDERS. IT'S THROWING P420 CODE FOR BANK 2 AND NOW HAVE NO SOUND AT ALL EVERYTHING WORKS BUT NO BLINKERS, HAZARD, SEATBELT, BACKUP WARNING SOUNDS AT ALL WITH NO RADIO .
APPROXIMATELY FOUR YEARS AGO, MY STEERING STARTED SLIPPING AND BECOMING TIGHTER IN TIGHT (<95 DEGREE) TURNS. WITHIN A SHORT TIME SPAN, THE PROBLEM BECAME CONSTANT. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ENTER OR EXIT A PARKING SPOT. THE DEALER QUOTED ME $2500 TO REPAIR AND SAID THE PROBLEM IS FREQUENT ON BUICK ENCLAVES FROM 2010 ON.
OFTEN WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE POWER STEERING SEEMS TO LOOSE POWER. IT FEELS LIKE I AM DRIVING A OLD CAR WITH NO POWER STEERING. IT HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED. I SELDOM FEEL THIS FROM A STOPPED POSITION. I SELDOM FEEL IT WHEN GOING STRAIGHT. SOME TIMES I CAN FEEL IT AS I SLOW DOWN TO START A TURN. IT HAPPENS MOST IN TOWN. IT CAN HAPPEN WHEN COMING OFF THE INTERSTATE TO MAKE THE FIRST TURN AT AN INTERSECTION...BUT NOT OFTEN. I SEE NO LEAKS. THE FLUID IS AT THE PROPER LEVEL.
POWER STEERING FAILED WHEN DRIVING ON A STREET WHILE TURNING. TOOK IT TO A NON BUICK MECHANIC FOR EVALUATION. HE STATED TO TAKE IT TO A BUICK DEALERSHIP. THERE IS A 'SPECIAL CONSIDERATION ' PROVISION TO REPAIR. WE NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ON THIS. WE TOOK IT TO A BUICK DEALERSHIP WHO STATED IT NEEDED REPLACED. THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PUMP ONLY AND WE NEEDED TO PAY $2200.00 FOR A STEERING GEAR. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO CHARGE THE CONSUMER ANYTHING TO FIX THIS OBVIOUS SYSTEM DEFECT. WE BELIEVE THE DEALERSHIP NEEDS TO PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. BUT THEY WON'T SINCE IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED.
AT SLOW SPEEDS THE POWER STEERING GOES IN AND OUT INTERMITTENTLY. THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING IS ONLY FOR A SECOND OR TWO BUT THE SENSATION SEEMS TO BE DANGEROUS IF THE STEERING FUNCTION DID NOT RETURN INSTANTLY. THIS LOSS OF POWER STEERING IS IDENTICAL TO THE POWER STEERING LOSS THAT IS THE SUBJECT OF A CURRENT GMC SIERRA TRUCK RECALL.

OVERALL, HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH THE CAR BUT A FEW MONTHS AGO I RAN INTO A SCARY SITUATION THAT I DID NOT ANTICIPATE. I ALSO SEARCHED ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND FOUND IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2010 BUICK ENCLAVES. POWER STEERING RANDOMLY STOPS WORKING, USUALLY ON LOWER RPMS BUT SOMETIMES JUST RANDOMLY STOPS WORKING NO MATTER WHAT RPMS. POWER STEERING FLUID IS FULL.
THE STEERING BECOMES HARD TO TURN WHEN MOVING VERY SLOWLY OR SITTING IN PARK. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY IN URBAN SETTINGS. NO PROBLEM OBSERVED AT HIGHWAY SPEED AS YET. WILL BE TAKING TO MECHANIC SHORTLY.

I WAS ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE MOST NOTICEABLE OCCURRENCE HAPPENED, MAKING A U-TURN FROM A COMPLETE STOP WHEN I COULD BARELY TURN MY STEERING WHEEL TO COMPLETE THE TURN.
STEERING WHEEL SEEMS TO LOCK WHEN WE TURN THE WHEEL, WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO TURN TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT VERY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING TURNS WHILE DRIVING. HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES.
TAKATA RECALL IT APPEARS THIS IS A POWER STEERING ISSUE WITH MY 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE. I HAD IT LOOKED AT AND NOW IT IS STILL MAKING A LOUD NOISE WHEN DRIVING, WHEN MAKING A TURN AND IT MAKE A ROUGH SOUND NOW MY STABILITY TRACKING LIGHT IS POPPING ON SAYING TO CHECK THE STABILITY. I WAS TOLD THE RACK AND PINION AND POWER STEERING PUMP WERE REPLACED BUT IT IS STILL CAUSING ISSUES. LOUD NOISES OCCUR WHEN DRIVING AND WHEN TURNING IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE AND MY TRACKING LIGHT POPS ON AND OFF.
STEERING: SEEMS VAGUE WHEN IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEED. OTHER: REAR TAILGATE OPENS WHILE DRIVING, SITTING STILL W/O THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. CONTACTED GM AND CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME IT WAS MY PROBLEM NOT THEIRS. ENGINE: SOUNDS LIKE A MEATGRINDER ON COLD START UP, IF THE ENGINE FAILS WILL LOOSE STEERING, BRAKES AND POSSIBLY CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
ON 6/7/2017 PURCHASED A 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE CXL 116495 MILES ON IT NEEDS STEERING GEAR 1700.00 IS THE POWER STEERING PUMP WEAR THE CAUSE OF THE GEAR LEAKING

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED BEFORE OR AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND TOOK INTO DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSIS OF ISSUE. WAS TOLD THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD STRETCHED AND NEEDED REPLACED WITH A COST ESTIMATE OF $3000. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED, THE FIRST BEING AT 48K MILES, AND NOW AT 95K MILES. WHEN THE REPAIR WAS BEING MADE, WAS TOLD THAT THE CRANK SHAFT WAS WARPED AND HAD FRAYED THE ENGINE INTERNALLY - CAUSED BY THE BAD TIMING CHAIN AND I NOW NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. CONTACTED BUICK, BUT THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. BUICK HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS, AND YET REFUSES TO BACK THEIR PRODUCT OR HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS. ONCE THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED, I NOW HAVE A LOUD POWER STEERING 'WHINE' AND WAS TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDS REPLACED - ANOTHER KNOWN ISSUE BY BUICK. JUST INCREDIBLE.
LOTS OF INFORMATION THAT BUICK SHOULD SEND OUT A RECALL REGARDING THE STEERING RACK LEAKS THIS CAR GETS. MECHANIC CLAIMED I HAD STEERING LEAKS, I HARDLY DRIVE THIS CAR.

LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL LEAKING INTO AND COLLECTING IN THROTTLE BODY AND AIR INTAKE. AFTER TWO TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENTS VEHICLE HAS ROUGH IDLE, STALLS INTERMITTENTLY.
CAR HAD 79820 A BEGINNING OF TRIP FROM INDIANA TO FLORIDA. LOST POWER STEERING WITH UNDER 80K ON CAR AT BEGINNING OF TRIP. NO LOW SPEED POWER STEERING AT ALL, CAT CANNOT BE STEERED AT PARKING LOT SPEEDS.
CAR HAD REDUCED SPEED AND WHITE SMOKE 11/15 41,000 MILES TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED NUMBER 5 INJECTOR CAR. 2/4/17 CAR HAS 49,584 MILES AND HAD TO HE TOWED AGAIN TO DEALERSHIP SAME ISSUE REDUCED SPEED WHITE SMOKE, WAS TOLD ALL 6 INJECTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED, WATER PUMP, TIMING COVER, STEERING GEAR AND TIMING BELT. THIS CAR HAS TOO MANY ISSUES TO HAVE SUCH FEW MILES. I DID CALL SEVERAL OTHER GARAGES TO SEE IF THEY COULD GIVE ESTIMATE AS I DON'T TRUST DEALERSHIP, THEY WILL NOT WORK ON THE ENCLAVE MOTORS. THERE ARE ALSO TOO MANY RECALLS IN MY OPINION ON THIS VEHICLE. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING ON THIS VEHICLE.

TOWED VEHICLE TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED IT WAS STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN, COMMON OCCURRENCE IN ENCLAVE, ACADIA, AND TRANSVERSE. REPORTED ISSUE TO GM WHO REFERRED ME TO CERTIFIED GM DEALER, VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THAT LOCATION AT MY EXPENSE, SAT THERE FOR A WEEK BEFORE I RECEIVED ANY INFO WHICH WAS STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN, ALREADY KNOWN INFORMATION. I CALLED GM BACK WHO STATED THEY MY CASE HAD ALREADY BEEN CLOSED OUT FOR POWER LIFT GATES AND THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTATION FOR THE STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN, AFTER 1 HOUR AND 25 MINUTES ON THE PHONE I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO ASSISTANCE FOR THE TIMING CHAIN THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE $2000 REPAIR BILL ALONG WITH...

THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
POWER STEERING LOCKS UP AT SLOW SPEED. STEERING WHEEL IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT WILL GET WORSE. HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH BUICK DEALER TO CHECK PROBLEM. MILEAGE IS 68,000 MILES.
POWER STEERING GOES IN AND OUT. WILL WORK WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST STARTED BUT ONCE IT WARMS UP, POWER STEERING FAILS. HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW WEEKS, LOCAL MECHANIC SAYS THERE IS A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT BUT I THE ONLY WAY I KNOW ABOUT IT IS THEY FOUND THE INFORMATION.

THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. WITHOUT WARNING, THE ABILITY TO STEER THE CAR BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY IN TURNS IN INTERSECTIONS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, USUALLY CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BRAKE HEAVILY IN AN INTERSECTION FOR WHAT LOOKS LIKE NO APPARENT REASON. POWER STEERING PUMP WEAR CONDITION RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM BUICK SEPTEMBER 2014 IN REGARDS TO A POWER STEERING PUMP WEAR CONDITION, BUT THE LETTER ADVISED NOT TO TAKE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR UNTIL IT WAS AN ISSUE. THE LETTER DID NOT STATE SPECIFICS AS TO HOW AN INDIVIDUAL WOULD KNOW THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE BUT WHILE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO HOLZHAUER MOTORS IN CHEROKEE, IA (AUTHORIZED DEALER) ON JUNE 17, 2015 FOR SERVICE (LUBE & FILTER CHANGE) I MENTIONED TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT WHEN I TURNED MY STEERING WHEEL THERE WAS A WHINING SOUND. I WAS LATER CONTACTED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATING THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST OF REPLACING THE ACTUAL PUMP AND LABOR WAS COVERED UNDER SAID WARRANTY. AT LESS THAN 60,000 MILES THE RACK AND PINION STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A CLUNKING NOISE AND LEAKING SEALS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,000.
