PCV VALVE HEATER REPLACEMENT. THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY FOR THE RECALL, WHICH WAS MEANT TO START DECEMBER 18TH. AS INSTRUCTED, I HAVE BEEN PARKING MY CAR OUTSIDE (IN CASE IT CATCHES FIRE) SINCE NOVEMBER. I LIVE IN ROCHESTER, NY AND THE SNOWY WEATHER IS PROBABLY FURTHER DAMAGING MY VEHICLE. THE TIMELINE TO FIX THE PCV VALVE HEATER IS UNACCEPTABLE.

THE CAR WOULD RUN ROUGH AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE UNTIL IT WASN'T DRIVABLE. I TOOK IT TO THE BMW DEALER AND THEY SAID THE BOLTS ON THE EXHAUST VANOS UNIT FELL OUT AND IT WOULD BE $4,000 TO REPAIR IT. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS A BRANDED TITLE THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE. 156,000 WERE RECALLED AND AN ADDITIONAL 170,000 WERE SUPPOSED TO BE COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. EVIDENTLY MY VEHICLE WAS PART OF THE 170,000 BUT BMW REFUSES TO HONOR THE WARRANTY. PLEASE HELP

TIME TO TIME DRIVER WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL DOWN WHEN IN CAR. ALSO, THE SEAT BELT LIGHT CHIMES TO PUT SEAT BELT ON AND NO ONE IS IN PASSENGER SEAT. STEREO LIGHTS PIXELS BURNING OUT & SOUND FROM TIME TO TIME THE SPEAKERS HAS MUFFLED SOUND OR POOR QUALITY SOUND. BROUGHT CAR WITH 20,000 MILES AND NOW HAS 57,000 MILES AND ISSUES WITH ENGINE IS WAY TOO MUCH FOR LOW MILEAGE.

THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR TEN YEARS AND THEY WOULD NEED TO CONTACT THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LOCAL DEALER TO VERIFY COVERAGE. "VANOS SYSTEM RECALL" I ATTEMPTED TO START MY VEHICLE AND IT STALLED WHILE DRIVING. I CONTACTED A MECHANIC WHO STATED AFTER A DIAGNOSTIC TEST IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT MY VANOS BOLTS WERE DAMAGED. I ALSO DID MY RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT BMW HAS AN NATIONWIDE RECALL ON A DEFECT IN THE VANOS UNIT HOUSING GROUP FOR THE YEARS 2010-2012. MY VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THIS BUT WHEN I ATTEMPT TO LOOK FOR MY VEHICLE RECALLS THERE IS NONE. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE.
KNOWN PROBLEM VANOS BOLTS SHEERED OFF IN TO OIL PAD. BMW STATES MY CAR IN NOT IN THE RECALL WHEN IT APPEARS IT SHOULD BE. THE FAULTY ITEM FAILED RENDERING MY CAR USELESS. BUT BMW WILL NOT REPAIR FREE OF COST UNDER THE PART EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE IT'S NOT A RECALL.
2011 328I WITH 53,500 MILES. ENGINE COLD START HESITATION WITH VIBRATIONS WHILE IDLING STATIONARY. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE ISSUE, OIL CHANGE. WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE ECCENTRIC SHAFT SENSOR/GASKETS, BATTERY TESTED LOW TO INCLUDE VVT SENSORS AND LEFT PAD BRAKE SENSOR DUE TO WIRE CUT. TOTAL COST $2300 DOLLARS. NEXT DAY, CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WENT BACK TO DEALER AND STATED THEY DIDN'T FIND ANY FURTHER ISSUES. DID RESEARCH INTO THE ISSUE WITH OTHER BMW OWNERS WHICH HAD THE VEHICLES SERVICED FOR REPLACEMENTS OF VANOS, MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS, ETC. THESE CODES WEREN'T SHOWING UP ON MY VEHICLE. DECIDED TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY ENGINE MYSELF AND NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM THE VALVE COVER GASKET AREA AND COULD SEE OIL THAT HAD LEAK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE BAY, NOW AT 60K MILES, TOOK IT IN EARLY FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND...

THIS VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BMW DEALER'S SERVICE NUMEROUS TIME FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WHEN IT WAS UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY BUT THE SERVICE AND BMW USA ALWAYS SAID THAT NONE OF THE OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE EVER REPORTED THIS ISSUE AND THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT FROM ANOTHER CUSTOMER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK ON THE ENGINE GASKET. THE ENGINE GASKET WAS CLEANED. THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE OIL LEAKED ON A PANEL INSIDE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND RULED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE THAT NEEDED TO BE REMEDIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE...
ENGINE SPUN #3 ROD TO CRANK BEARING @ 6400 RPM SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND. (RED LINE IS 6700) AND COMPUTER CONTROLS SHOULD PREVENT ENGINE FROM BEING DAMAGED. CAR HAD 135K ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPEND, BUT I HAVE OWNED IT SINCE NEW AND HAVE PERFORMED ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE SINCE NEW SINCE NEW. I UNDERSTATED THE CAR HAS HIGH MILES, BUT I STILL FEEL THE ENGINE SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED FOR RUNNING IT HARD ONE TIME. ENGINE WAS REPLACED FROM CAR WITH 21K IN IT. THE REPAIR COST OVER 5K WITH ME DOING THE WORK.

THREE WEEKS LATER, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, "COOLANT LIQUID LOW, ENGINE IS HOT PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY" AND "DO NOT OPEN HOOD, FIRE HAZARD" WERE DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER.
