Within 40 miles of purchasing and departing the dealership, this brand-new 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4 Door Sport S experienced two severe and uncontrollable steering oscillation events (commonly known as "Death Wobble"). The first incident occurred on I-265 East (from I-65) in Indiana after going over a standard bridge expansion joint/hump at approximately 60 MPH. The steering wheel and front axle shook with such violence that vehicle control was nearly lost, necessitating emergency braking and pulling onto the shoulder. The event repeated under identical conditions within two miles. The vehicle was brought back to the dealership where tire balance, pressure, and alignment all appeared normal. Dealership took the vehicle for a test ride and was able to replicate the issue. Odometer leaving dealership: 133 miles.
Driving down the road with vehicles on opposite side and vehicle shut off with no warnings and had no steering. Had to turn vehicle on and off 3-4 times to get back to home. Had to get vehicle towed to dealership and now has 3 recalls on it and two have no remedy. It has been since October of 2025 since this has been going on with no fix, no solution, no reimbursement for payments still being made on a vehicle that is not drivable.
Loss of motor power recall has been present since October 17, 2025 - #25V710. This is an issue that started with our specific Jeep prior to this recall. It is January now and no remedy has been found. The manufacturer will not provide a loaner or rental for us even though the car has shut off on us personally on multiple occasions. They asked us to take it into the dealer to perform a diagnostic, they are unable to reproduce the shut-off issue we've experienced and have told us there is nothing they can do at this time. I looked up at your website and see there is an "interim corrective action" that has been implemented to avoid loss of motive power using an update to the backend policy while a final remedy is still under development. When I asked the dealer to either confirm if they at least performed...
This compliant is based on the manufactures unwillingness to provide a rental car despite the fact the car is in the shop now for over a week. They have stated in writing that they will not provide a rental car or alternative transportation until the repair for NHTSA recall number 25V-766 or 78C is determined. This leads me without a usable vehicle for an unknown period of time and their refusal to provide a rental in the main time while the vehicle is under factory warranty is a dereliction of their responsibility to provide a working product to the customer. I have a call with the manufacturer FCA which is #95240670.
On Monday, December 15th at approximately 4:30pm, after having turned East onto highway 556, aka Roy Avenue, accelerating to the speed limit of 45 mph, I crossed over a "seam" connecting the roadway to the bridge, which immediately set off the infamous "death wobble" on my 2024 Jeep Wrangler JLU. I was unable to control the vehicle, and I had to slow down while wrestling with the steering so that I could pull off to the right hand side of the road. Had I not been able to react in such a quick manner, I could have easily collided with oncoming traffic, killed or injured others, or been killed myself. I took the vehicle to the dealer two days later, who said that the issue was a "steering stabilizer", which appears to be the default response from Stellantis as all steering stabilizers are on back-order. There were no warning lights,...
Jeep shakes violently when going above 50 mph
This is a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. It currently has 22,700 miles on it. These issues began prior to 20,000 miles. The car stops driving with out warning. This has occurred on three occasions, while driving in traffic. It locks up, but power is still working. A message pops up that says put the vehicle in Drive...which it already is. It comes to an abrupt stop. It will not regain power. You have to power on and off multiple times to get it to start. Recently it failed to start (engine). Again, had full power, but the engine would not start. It also will not charge fully to 100%. The display screen will bling or go black, with no power. The steering wheel will shake uncontrollably while driving over 65-70 MPH. These issues began in summer 2025. One incident was in Sept. Oct, Nov, and Dec 13 was the last.
While driving on the highway my Jeep lost speed and power steering. All the warning lights flashed on and off while dinging. Dealership can't get a code to see what the problem is to fix correctly. Jeep has 2 dangerous recalls that could catch fire while driving or sitting. Both issues put my life at risk. Stellantis denied buy back.
While driving at highway speeds, the wheel started to wobble uncontrollably for 20-30 seconds. I lost fine control of steering had maneuver to the shoulder as I reduced speed the wobble immediately stopped. This is extremely disconcerting and dangerous. I noticed this happening months ago but wasn't sure if it was rough patches in the road or speed bumps. But almost losing control confirmed it was the vehicle.
I am experiencing a severe and dangerous front-end vibration at freeway speeds between 60–65 mph, commonly known as “Death Wobble.” The wobble is violent enough that I feel I could lose control of the vehicle. It makes the Jeep extremely unsafe to drive on the freeway. This is happening on a vehicle that is practically new with only 38,000 miles, which is unacceptable for a safety-related issue. I brought the vehicle to the dealership three times before my warranty expired, and the problem was never fixed. Now that the warranty period has passed, the dealership is telling me I must pay out of pocket for the repairs, even though this issue started and was reported while the vehicle was still under warranty.
Was driving about 35 miles per hour on a two lane canyon road when the vehicle suddenly just shut down and completely lost all electrical and power steering. I was trying desperately to steer the vehicle to the side of the road as I quickly approached a father and his two daughters riding bikes and just missed them as I was screaming out the window for them to hurry forward. Was incredibly distressing and have never been so scared. The vehicle did get to the side of the road to a stop.
The steering wheel shakes a high speeds over 70 on highways . I’ve had it in and have had the steering wheel replaced . Another time the dealer thought it was the “death wobble” then said they didn’t find anything wrong but said it was a problem with the battery making the car heavy . This problem was not occurring previously and I drive this car every day. It does not feel right or normal . I’ve had it in over 3 times and they have not been able to find or duplicate an issue . There is a death wobble issue with Jeep but I cannot get the dealership to help with the problem .
Over-the-air firmware update that caused an in-motion shutdown while driving. various dash lights came on, shift to park indicator flashed, loss power, steering wheel stiffened up to the point it wouldn't move. There were no warnings before it went haywire. My family's safety was at risk as we were driving and it put us in danger and had to carefully get to the side of the road. We had it towed to Jeep where they say they fixed it but we have no trust to drive it now. The service advisor at the Jeep dealerships said "it looks like someone at Jeep pushed the big red button and sent out an update that wasn't ready yet" which is a huge concern for all Jeep owners.
Car was shaking over anytime went over 70miles an hour. Would not stay in lane . Steering dampener was replaced . Car continues to do this when I hit a bump. I’ve taken it back two more times, the dealer says they cannot duplicate the problem and therefore cannot fix it . It pulls completely to the other side and snaps back . They said it’s because the back is heavier than the front . They claim my tires are ok and everything looks good . It does not feel good and it does not feel like it did when I purchase the car . I drive it every day and my passengers have also noticed the problem . I am getting close to the end of my warranty and I have a feeling the dealer is going to let it run out and then tell me they found the...
I received a Uconnect update message on 10 -11–25 after doing that update my check engine light came on and my vehicle stalled out losing power multiple times on a highway with heavy traffic. I was asked to drive the vehicle to the Jeep dealership Heritage Jeep in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania they told me they would have to keep my jeep. They did not know how long they would have it and they were working with Chrysler. As a nurse and a single 60-year-old woman I had no other transportation. I asked if I could bring my Jeep in the following week to see if an update would be available when I left the dealership, the engine light was off and the vehicle was running fine. On Friday 10 –17–25. I received another message that an update was sent from UConnect on 10-14-25 my engine light came back on and I...
While driving my 2024 Jeep Rubicon 4xe, both the Check Engine and “Service Battery” lights came on, and the vehicle suddenly shut down completely in the middle of a busy intersection. I lost all ability to accelerate, steer, or brake — the steering wheel locked, and the vehicle was inoperable in heavy traffic. I was trapped in the lane with vehicles approaching from all directions, unable to move or control the car in any way. It was a frightening and dangerous experience that could have resulted in a serious accident. This was the second time this same issue occurred. The first happened around May 17, 2024, when the vehicle had approximately 500 miles. The dealership repaired it under warranty and returned it to me. The most recent incident occurred around October 10, 2025, at approximately 10,000 miles. The San Leandro Jeep Dodge Ram Chrysler dealership inspected the vehicle and confirmed...
THE CAR FRONT END SHAKES AT VARIOUS TIMES. IT IS INTERMITTENT, BUT IT SHAKES FROM SLIGHT TO SEVERE ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO TWO DEALERSHIPS AND THEY DRIVE CAR AND CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM.. I READ ONLINE IT IS COMMON AND IS KNOWN AS "THE DEADT WOBBLE" JEEP ACKNOWLEDGES THIS BUT WILL NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX WITHOUT DUPLICATING THE PROBLEM.. THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY WITH 18000 MILES. MY CONCERN IS IT SHOULD BE FIXED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND IF WARRANTY RUNS OUT IT MAY FAIL AND I WILL BE STUCK PAYING FOR THE PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE FIXED NOW.. THIS IS MY WIFES CAR AND WE LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS OF NC.. THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION DRIVING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN IN THE RAIN AND FOR THIS SEVERE FRONT END SHAKING. IN MY OPINION IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED WITH THE POSSIBLE RECALL TO...
I was driving as normal in a 40mph zone when my car stalled, steering locked up, and it flashed to put it in park in the middle of traffic. I was able to move over to a safe space after putting it in park but it kept shutting off as I inched my way off the road with hazards on. There was an update that went out that was causing this to vehicles and i was declining the update as suggested by manufactuerer by pressing the red X but it somehow forced installed itself while I was driving. Then while i was pulled over it would run for a few seconds then it would all of a sudden shut off again saying E-Drive Mode Temporairly Unavailable. Ive attached some photos but have a video of it running and shutting off if you would like me to send that.
When I first got it, I would get on the highway and once I hit 80mph it would do a wobble. I was told by the dealership it was "normal" and they couldn't replicate it. Then it got worse, anytime I hit 60mph on the hwy it wobbles.
On 10/10/25, I lost drive power after the OTA Uconnect update. On my drive, I abruptly had absolutely no acceleration, the gear indicator on the dash started flashing, the power mode indicator disappeared, an alert said shift into park and press the brake + start button, and the check engine light and red wrench lights came on. I was still able to steer and brake with power steering and brakes for maybe 30 seconds before those went out too. This happened in the middle on an intersection which was terrifying. After putting it into park and pressing the brake and start button it started back up and I could drive it normally for a little bit, but it happened two more times on my 1.5 mi drive home. I called AAA to tow it to the dealership (Herb Chambers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT of Millbury, 2 Latti Farm Road)....
Installed a mandatory update to car electronics on Friday night (Oct. 10, 2025). The car -- an 8-month-old Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe 2024 -- literally died while driving on a local highway at highway speeds. All warning lights lit up. Then the car just died... Had it towed to the local dealership where 4 other people already were being processed with the same problem. Two others walked in while I was there. Dealership provided "Jeep Care" phone number but the office was closed over the weekend. Spent a weekend without a vehicle and contacted them on Monday at ~5:30 a.m. Pacific time. Spent almost an hour on the phone. (Phone call recorded.) was told that someone will contact us within 24 hrs to assist with vehicle rental/replacement while the issue is being resolved. It is Tuesday, Oct.14, 2025, afternoon. Spent multiple hours (!) on hold with "Jeep Care." No one...
I was driving my vehicle on the highway at 60mph. The car turned itself off, I lost power steering and brakes and drove into a drainage culvert after almost hitting several cars. The vehicle would not restart initially and I had to wait 5 minutes before it started back up. It died 3 more times with in 1 mile before I made it to a safe area to park the vehicle. There was no warning before this happened.
Check engine light went on while D on shifter simultaneously began flashing. Car lost power and steering locked.
While driving the car just shit off.. put it in park put my hazzards on and started the car back up. Put it to the test again while backing out of the driveway and it shut off while I’m reverse. The stereo has been glitching for about a couple of month where it constantly has to reboot while driving. It has now caused the issues for the whole car to just die while in motion.. this is I huge safety issue especially with younger kids. If I was on the highway when this would have happened who knows how much more fatal this could have been. I do a ton of highway driving and that’s all we have used the car for and for drive around our small town. I fear that even taking it to the dealership to get it fixed I am not sure i am comfortable in...
As I was driving I lost all power to the vehicle as well as the steering wheel locked. I was able to pull to the side of the road but the back end of my car was hanging out into traffic. The car flashed a message reading to shift into Park which once I did I was able to turn the car off and back on again but the check engine light as well as a symbol of a tool remained up. Upon further investigation I now understood this was all due to an update on the UConnect screen system that was pushed out a day prior and many others had the same effect of their Jeeps completely turning off mid driving. This was extremely dangerous and terrifying as I had zero control over the car. Keeping lucky I am still alive! I do not feel comfortable continuing to drive...
while driving vehicle, the engine light came on, the steering locked up and the car stalled.
Complete loss of power and power steering. Repeated every 1.5 minutes after restart.
On 10/11/25 approximately 9pm my vehicle completed an OTA update initiated by the manufacturer. Upon completion of the update, I went for a drive. At approximately 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off, shifted into neutral, and ceased to operate leaving me stranded in the middle of the road. The vehicle would not start, shift into neutral, or operate in any manner. Several warning instrument lights came on. After about 30 minutes, the vehicle started and continued to loose power several times before I could get it back home. We were lucky that we were not rear ended. There are hundreds of complaints on social media referring to the same situation for other Jeep 4xe vehicles after completing the OTA update. Stellantis has not issued any official statement regarding this. This is a situation that could result in serious injury or death to many as the vehicle suddenly loses all...
Driving car stopped said to put in Park, engine light comes on. Restart start driving put into park again .. whilst on freeway! Just stopped
I did the telematics update from 10/10/25 on 10/11/2025 and I lost power and complete control while driving car just shut off told me to put it in park but I couldn’t shift to park check engine came on. I was able to restart the car and it happened two more times before I was able to get to safety and call for a tow. It seems to be a wide spread issue. That could have caused serious accidents.
After applying an OTA (over the air) update from Jeep on 10/11/25 at approximately 1pm EST, the vehicle would drive for about 100 yards and then lose all power. Check engine light came on and a message saying to put in park. This happened when I pulled out of a parking lot and was lucky enough to have enough momentum to get to the side of the road. Restarted the Jeep, drove another 100 yards in the shoulder and it happened again. Was able to get into a parking lot and had to get the Jeep towed to the dealership. I am waiting to hear from the dealership as to the resolution. As of this writing (10/12/25 @ 5:30 pm EST, I have seen 100's of posts regarding the same issue from other Jeep owners and I have yet to see a formal notice from the manufacturer acknowledging the issue...
Vehicle completely lost power while driving nearly resulting in an accident. Engine cut off and loss of power occured including power steering. Vehicle stated to put car in park while Vehicle was still in motion. Vehicle restarted but then the same thing happened. This occured 4 more times. I was able to make it to the dealership near by. I had young children in the car at the time.
We’ve experienced multiple ongoing issues with this vehicle, and the dealership’s only suggestion so far has been to file a lemon law claim. Last month, the car began jerking excessively while driving typically at speeds between 35–45 mph. The best way to describe it is that it feels as though all the wheels lock up at once, causing a loud tire-screeching noise. It was a frightening experience. The dealership claimed to have resolved the issue with a “software update.” However, just last night, my wife was stranded on the highway when the car suddenly started shutting down mid-drive, similar to what happens when a vehicle runs out of gas. The maximum speed she could reach was about 20 mph, and the check engine light came on. She switched from hybrid mode to eSave (gas-only mode), which allowed her to get home safely. This morning, she tested it again. The check...
Jeep pushed out an OTA update for their Uconnect system. Upon completion of this update, that occurred while I was driving, I lost control of my vehicle. My steering wheel locked up, all of the lights on my dashboard started flashing, and I was instructed to pull the jeep over. I was unable to operate the vehicle and had to be towed.
The car performed an automatic update last night. Driving it today, the car automatically shut down multiple times on a busy street. My life was in danger multiple times. There is no solution and this is negligence.
On October 11, 2025, in the morning, shortly after installing a software update recommended by Jeep via the vehicle's infotainment screen panel, I experienced a sudden and complete loss of vehicle power while driving on the road at approximately 45 mph. This failure prevented me from controlling the vehicle, as the steering wheel locked up, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and into a ditch. I was able to restart the vehicle, and it initially appeared to operate normally. However, the same issue recurred within 60 seconds of restarting the engine, with another sudden loss of power and steering control. This defect nearly resulted in a serious collision, posing a significant risk of bodily injury to myself and other motorists on the road. No injuries occurred, but the incident could have been catastrophic at highway speeds. I believe this may be related to a software or electrical defect...
When driving on a main road, my engine suddenly lost power with no advance warning. I was forced to coast to side of the road in order to put it back in Park and restart the engine. This happened 7 times during a 10 mile drive. It continues to happen no matter the distance driven
Car stopped “bricked” in the middle of freeway. Had gas half full
After a software update, the car would drive a few miles and then shut down in the middle of driving. You would be required to stop the car, put it in park, and restart the car. The car check engine light comes on and is in a crawl mode, with little acceleration. This is a wide spread issue across all 2024 Jeep Wranglers 4xe
After an Update, the Jeep died completely in the middle of the road with a bunch of errors on the dash and would not restart. After about 10 minutes, it restarted but died again shortly after. A third try a while later and it ran in manual transmission mode to where we could get it home. Check engine light is on and vehicle is still acting odd.
Jeep released an update for uconnect box. After it was automatically installed my Jeep wrangler lost engine power and steering while in the middle of a round about. Barely had enough momentum to make out of the closest round about exit and no power to pull off the road. Dashboard flashed shift into park. Shifted into park and restarted the engine. Turned off the main road and it died again. This did it 3 more times trying to drive home. This is extremely dangerous since you lose steering and engine power. This could kill someone on a turn, highway, or intersection.
While driving my vehicel, seems that an update were installed that caused a sudden hard stop, the check engine signal turned on and the system asked to change from D to P. We had the fortune that it was in traffic, so the vehicle was almost stopped. After a restart, I was able to drive but 3 minutes later... It happened again. I was not being able to accelerate and the system asking to change to Parking while driving at 30 MPH. I was driving with my family and it was hard for us because my daughter feels unsecured. How is it possible that an update broke some vehicles?
Since I leased the car, I have taken it to the dealers 4 different times for the steering wheel shaking out of control the first time the "fixed" it but turned me away the 2nd and 3rd time. Each time I requested the left mid speaker to be checked and replaced but they refused to do anything about it until my last oil change 2 months ago. Last year around November they fixed and oil leak, but the cat never leaked oil form the bottom. The Jeep was burning oil not leaking oil and they never did a consumption test. I took it in because the oil levels were low. However, the speaker is still broken, and I did not return the Jeep because they would not give me a loaner car for the service even though it's under warranty. In addition, right front and back tires blew out and...
Firsts, "service shifter" came up on the dash, with no other lights. Followed by the check engine light. After that, there was a red tortoise that appeared on the dash that said "vehicle speed may be limited". After which the throttle response was limited and I couldn't accelerate over 10 mph. Within 30 seconds of that the steering wheel locked up, not allowing me to turn and the throttle response died. The vehicle stopped. I turned the vehicle off and back on and began to drive again, almost immediately the same error messages came up, followed by a locked steering wheel (unable to turn) and no acceleration. At this point, the dash board began to illuminate all lights, "Auto Emergency Braking Unavailable", "service shifter" "Service transmission" etc. With the fuel cluster jumping and dropping. Following this, the windshield wipers began to go without control and then the vehicle died and...
I have not had any incident with this vehicle as of yet, but I bought it brand new a few months ago from Westgate motors in Raleigh, North Carolina. It’s a brand new jeep. It only had 12 miles when we got it from the start it has bad steering and it steers all over the road while you’re driving it you can be driving it all of a sudden it’ll just start to switch lanes or something or getting into another lane and then it feels as if the back end starts to sway like it was hit with a very bad wind. The cruise control varies up and down at times without even touching it. Coming down a hill once it moved over into her on coming lane. I had it back at the dealer several times and was told this is normal for jeeps due to their...
Issue: Front End violent DEATH WOBBLE at interstate [XXX] speed of 75mph on [XXX] outside Benson AZ (unexpected and harsh). Hit rough patch in road and steering wheel and front end violently shook side to side for about 5 minutes until I slowed to below 50mph. Almost crashed into other cars but I regained control at a slower speed and had no accident. Vehicle purchased on [XXX] new. Slow 45mph initial test drive had no wobble. Dealer attempted to repair on 2 occasions in June 2024 but could not guarantee it fixed. They bled and primed its newer dampener which was empty/never primed. Supposedly it was the newer upgraded steering dampener that was to have fixed this issue but did not fix it. Had 3 more minor wobbles after Dealer fixes on the next 3 weekends driving on [XXX] at 70MPH but these were less intense and manageable (did not...
The shop is alleging that the Steering box failed causing the driver to loose control resulting in the death of the driver.
Steering wheel has excessive play while driving, forcing driver to constantly correct when driving down the highway. Jeep will drift out of lane on its own putting all drivers at risk. From time to time the steering gets better for one trip but then back to being sloppy the next drive. One dealership said it needs steering box replaced, the place which I bought it from new, said it is “just a Jeep thing.” Both dealerships said that they checked other steering components: tire pressure, ball joints, etc. No warning lights have come about at any time. There are forums online littered with comments of people with similar issues. No accidents have taken place at this time fortunately.
