The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while reversing and making a left turn, the front driver’s side ball joint fractured and the lower control arm detached. The steering wheel also shook and jerked while driving approximately 50 mph. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was a recall repaired in 2006, for the ball joints. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.

AT APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES, WE WENT TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE SHOP FOR AN ALIGNMENT DUE TO POOR TIRE WEAR AND "WANDERING" CHARACTERISTICS WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE TIRE SHOP INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE UPPER BALL JOINT AND COULD REPLACE THE FAILED UNIT WITH PERMISSION FROM THE DEALER. THE DEALER, MEDVED JEEP, DENIED THE CLAIM. WE HAD OUR JEEP SERVICED ( 11/07 ) AND THE MECHANIC SHOWED US THAT THE 2 FRONT TIRES WERE WORN OUT BADLY ON THE INSIDE OF EACH TIRE. MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY HAS BEEN PULLING TO THE RIGHT SINCE I HAD THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE LOWER BALL JOINTS DUE TO THE RECALL. I'VE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP SINCE IT WAS DONE AND THEY'VE TAKEN IT IN AND LOOKED AT IT SEVERAL TIMES. IT HAS BEEN ALIGNED AND THE TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED MORE THAN IS SPECIFIED JUST TRYING TO GET IT TO DRIVE STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD AGAIN.
