The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle was shaking erratically. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with transfer case and transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transfer case and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The contact researched NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V278000 (Suspension). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to submit the repair documents regarding the failure. In addition, the contact was informed that the replacement of the transfer case and the transmission replacement were not covered under the recall. FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ON RIGHT SIDE HAS FELL OUT TWICE, 8 MONTHS APART. BOTH TIMES THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, GOING LESS THE 20 MPH. ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY, AND ON ON REGULAR PAVED ROAD. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE ROAD BOTH TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT BROKE, IT CAUSE MY WHEEL TO BREAK AND FLATTER MY TIRE, SECOND TIME IT DAMAGED MY WHEEL BUT DIDN'T NOT BUST THROUGH IT. THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF 1ST GEAR. IT'S DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, RED LIGHTS UPHILL. FAILURE OF STEERING COLUMN ROD TO ACTUATE IGNITION SENSE SWITCH CAUSED VEHICLE NO START AND DRIVER STRANDED. ROD GOES BETWEEN KEY CYLINDER AND IGNITION SWITCH. KEY CAN STILL BE TURNED, BUT IF IGNITION SWITCH DOES NOT ACTUATE ENGINE DOES NOT START. THERE ARE NO DEALER SERVICEABLE COMPONENTS IN STEERING COLUMN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED, AND I HAD THE CODE RUN WHICH STATED THE PROBLEM BEING THE TORQUE CLUTCH CONVERTER (TCC) SOLENOID CIRCUIT. UPON RESEARCHING POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS AND COST FOR REPAIR, I NOTICED MANY OTHERS WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM APPEAR. SINCE NO RECALLS WERE AVAILABLE, I HAD THE TCC REPLACED AT THE RECOMMENDATION OF MY RESEARCH AND THE OPINION OF THE LOCAL SHOP WHO SAID THE PROBLEM WAS NOT ELECTRICAL. AT THIS POINT, THE NEW TCC HAS BEEN REPLACED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOT REAPPEARED. HOWEVER, EVER SINCE THE LIGHT ORIGINALLY CAME ON, I HAVE NOTICED THE ACCELERATION AND IDLE HAVE BEEN VERY STRANGE. I TOOK IT IN TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND THE INSPECTION SHOWED THAT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE.THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR SIMILAR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IN SPEAKING WITH THE MECHANIC PERFORMING THE REPAIR HE INDICATED THAT CHRYSLER HAD SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH THE 42RLE TRANSMISSIONS.
