I HAVE A 2018 JEEP COMPASS THAT I PURCHASED EARLIER THIS YEAR IN FEBRUARY. LATER ON IN OCTOBER I STARTED GETTING A LOW OIL PRESSURE SIGNAL MORE SPECIFICALLY IT WOULD SIGNAL WHENEVER I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO A JEEP TECHNICIAN TURNS OUT IT WAS LEAKING OIL AND NEEDED A WHOLE ENGINE REPLACED (KEEP IN MIND 2018 VEHICLE). FAST FORWARD TO NOW (ONLY TWO MONTHS LATER) MY CAR STARTED SHAKING THEN PROGRESSIVELY WENT TO NOT EVEN TURNING ON AT ALL WHILE DRIVING ON CITY ROAD THE SERV 4WD LIGHT TURNED ON. NOW IT'S BACK AT THE SHOP
WHEN MY VEHICLE HITS 47 MPH IT STARTS MAKING A VERY LOUD HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE NOISE CONTINUES TO BE PERSISTENT UNTIL I SLOW DOWN TO LESS THAN 30 MPH. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALERSHIP BUT JEEP DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THEY SAY THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON A SOFTWARE UPDATE SINCE EARLY 2018. I'M NOT SURE IF IT'S DAMAGING MY VEHICLE BUT IT IS EXTREMELY LOUD.
BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL. HAD TO GET NEW MOTOR. SECOND MOTOR IS BURNING OIL. GOING THROUGH SECOND OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. 2018 JEEP COMPASS WITH 11,500 MILES. STILL UNDER WARRANTY. VEHICLE CAN STOP WITHOUT WARNING, ANYWHERE AT ANY TIME.
FIRST MY RADIO CUTS OUT AT RANDOM TIMES. SECOND, I'VE BEEN NOTICING MY OIL LIGHT COMING ON MANY TIMES. I CONSTANTLY FEEL LIKE I'M PUTTING OIL IN THIS CAR. 3 RD, I WAS PULLING OUT OF A STRIP MALL WHEN MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF. THANKFULLY I WASN'T IN TRAFFIC YET. MANY TIMES WHEN I START MY CAR AND START MOVING MY CAR STALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TOO MANY TIME THAT I DON'T FEEL SAFE. EVERY 600-1000 MILES I HAVE TO CHECK THE OIL. IT IS ALWAYS LOW AND I BELIEVE THIS IS THE CAUSE OF THE STALL PROBLEM. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN OCTOBER 2018 BRAND NEW AND HAVE HAD TROUBLE EVER SINCE I HIT 3000 MILES. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!
DURING COLD WEATHER/ AND RANDOMLY DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY, ENGINE WILL CUTOUT AND NOT RESTART. ALSO WHEN PARKED ENGINE WILL CRANK, BUT NOT START. EVEN IF YOU REPLACE BATTERY- DOES NOTHING. THIS IS A VERY HIGH PRIORITY FOR SAFETY CONCERNS. THIS COULD CAUSE LOTS OF WRECKS.
THE CAR WONT START. WHEN PRESING THE PUSHSTART BUTTON IT WONT WORK. MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN SAYS CAR NOT IN PARK AND WONT START NOR SHUT DOWN. NO WAY TO MOVE IT OR SHUTTING IT DOWN.
THE VEHICLE AT ANY KNOWN TIME GOES INTO THE PARKING BRAKE MODE AND STALLS! THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM AND TWICE WE WERE ADVISED TO CHANGE THE OIL? THE OIL CHANGES WHICH SHOULD NOT EVEN BE ENTERTAINED HAS ALWAYS BEEN KEPT UP TO DATE. MY QUESTION SHOULD WE CHANGE THE OIL BEFORE OR AFTER THE SEVERITY OF THE ACCIDENT THAT CAN OCCUR DUE TO THIS MALFUNCTION. AND WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE PEOPLE EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM.ARE YOU WAITING TILL SOMEONE DIES BEFORE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT? THAT WOULD SURELY SORE SALES? PURCHASED NEW COMPASS FROM BEST JEEP IN PLYMOUTH MA. AFTER FIRST OIL CHANGE, JUST BEFORE SECOND 13,000 MILES (STICKER SAYS TO GO EVERY 7,000 MILES) LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON, HAD TO GET OFF THE ROAD. TOOK 2 QUARTS OF OIL TO GET TO SAFE ZONE, OIL DRIPPING WAS NOTICEABLE UNDER CAR AND I BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER. GOT CAR BACK AND THEY NOTED NO OIL LEAK FOUND AND SAW SPILLED OIL AT FILLER SPOT. I PUT OIL IN THE CAR, THERE WAS NO OIL SPILLED AROUND THE FILLER. WHEN I LOOKED, DEALERSHIP HAD TAKEN, WHAT SEEMED TO BE AN OILY RAG, AND WIPED ALL AROUND THAT AREA. THEN TRIED TO BLAME ME. GOT CAR HOME, OIL WAS STILL DRIPPING. CALLED, MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. THEY THEN WROTE ON THE WORK ORDER "VERIFIED, SERVICE MANAGER DOCUMENTED OIL UNDER VEHICLE. THEY PUT DIE IN OIL, CLEANED UP PRESENT OIL ON OUTSIDE...
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE CARE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. ONCE WHEN TAKING A TURN, BUT MOSTLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT A STOP LIGHT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND SERVICE AUTO START STOP WILL COME ON AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR WILL STOP IN THE MIDDLE IN THE ROAD. WHEN WE TOOK CAR TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD US THAT IT WAS THE BOTH BATTERIES. WE HAVE HAD THIS CAR LESS THAN ONE YEAR. I COULD UNDERSTAND ONE BATTERY, BUT WHY WOULD BOTH GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME. IN RESEARCHING I SAW THAT THERE WAS VOLTAGE REGULATOR RECALL; HOWEVER, WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT THIS DOES NOT INVOLVE OUR VIN. THESE INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED AROUND TOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ENGINE MADE A ROARING SOUND. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE BEGAN SIX MONTHS AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DIFFERENT DEALERS EIGHT TIMES AND FOUR NEW DIFFERENTIALS WERE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NORTHTOWN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE FIAT (2020 NIAGARA FALLS BLVD, TONAWANDA, NY 14150, (716) 616-3299) WHERE THE PTU AND ANOTHER UNKNOWN UPDATE WERE COMPLETED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,425.
ENGINE OIL CHECKED LOW 3,000 MILES AFTER LAST OIL CHANGE. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH MULTIPLE ONLINE REPORTS OF THESE VEHICLES BURNING OIL RAPIDLY. OTHER REPORTS STATE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WHILE TRAVELING WITH NO WARNING INDICATIONS AND THE DIPSTICK REGISTERS NO ENGINE OIL.
I PURCHASED MY JEEP COMPASS NEW. SINCE I HAVE HAD IT, I HAVE TAKEN MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS IN FOR REPAIR DUE TO LOSS OF OIL SEVERAL TIMES. THE LOSS OF OIL WAS FIRST NOTICED BEFORE THE FIRST 2,000 MILES ON THE CAR BECAUSE OF A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THIS CAR HAS EVEN STOPPED ON ME ON WHILE TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH OTHER LIGHTS. IN THIS PARTICULAR INSTANCE IT DID START BACK UP EVENTUALLY. WHEN IT DID, THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON THE WHOLE TIME. RECENTLY, (11/16/19), WHILE DRIVING THE WHOLE CAR SHUTS DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKES LOCK UP. THE CAR WILL NOT BUDGE. IN THIS INSTANCE THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR THAT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING...
PURCHASED AT THE DEALERSHIP @ 5K..ENGINE STALLED @ 18K MILES AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY.. CHECKED AND THERE WAS NO OIL ON STICK.. HAD TO BUY OIL TWICE JUST TO TAKE MY JEEP TO BE SERVICED AND HAVE AN 'OIL CONSUMPTION TEST' PERFORMED MULTIPLE TIMES, WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS FINE.. 11K MILES LATER..'SERVICE ENGINE,' 'SERVICE TRANSMISSION,' FLASHES ON DASH. NO OIL ON STICK WITHIN 400 MILES OF NEEDING AN OIL CHANGE.. ENGINE WON'T TURNOVER/START. STRANDED WITH <30K MILES & HAVEN'T HAD THE VEHICLE A YEAR.
I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I DROVE AND TURNED RIGHT. AFTER ABOUT 10 YARDS, MY CAR STALLED JUST AS I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME, OR I WOULD HAVE LIKELY BEEN HIT. THIS HAD HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE, SO I KNEW THE PROCESS: PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN ON THE EMERGENCY BREAK, TURN OFF THE EMERGENCY BREAK, TURN OFF THE CAR, TURN ON THE CAR, PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE. THIS SEQUENCE SEEMED TO WORK, BUT MY CAR SHOULD NEVER STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE I AM DRIVING. IT IS SCARY AND UNSAFE.
CAR STALLS RANDOMLY IF OIL IS LOW ... ON HIGHWAYS, AT INTERSECTIONS, WHILE TURNING OR AT STOP LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. PROBLEM STARTED WHEN VEHICLE ONLY HAD 3000 MILES. BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL BEHAVIOR FOR THIS VEHICLE. THEY SAID THE VEHICLE BURNS OIL QUICKLY AND WHEN IT IS LOW IT STALLS. THIS WAS A 17 BIRTHDAY PRESENT FOR MY DAUGHTER WHO HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS BEFORE WE FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PULL BACK AND JERK AS IF IT WERE TRYING TO SLOW DOWN. CONTINUED FOR A FEW MILES TO JEEP DEALER WHICH HAPPENED TO BE ON THAT HIGHWAY. THE TECHNICIANS EXPLAINED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION THE VEHICLE RESTRICTS THE SPEED BY PULLING BACK WHEN YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND ANY CODE THAT INDICATE A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE
ON NOVEMBER 14, 2019, MY WIFE DROVE OUR 2018 JEEP COMPASS ON A LOCAL STREET, WITHIN MINUTES, THE CAR BEGAN SLOWING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND THEN SHUT OFF. BEFORE THE CAR SHUT OFF, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT, THE CAR DID NOT TURN BACK ON. ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT, THE CAR TURNED BACK ON.
I BOUGHT MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS IN FEBRUARY 2019. IN JULY 2019 WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY 2 DAUGHTERS THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR TURNED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THANK GOD I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. THE OIL LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR. A FEW DAYS LATER THIS HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE TAKING MY DAUGHTERS TO VISIT FAMILY ON THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN. THE OIL LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON AGAIN. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK MY CAR TO LARSON DODGE AND JEEP DEALER IN PUYALLUP, WA. I TOLD THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THE JEEP COMPASS HAS A PROBLEM WITH OIL EVAPORATING AND THEY WOULD CHANGE THE OIL....
I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE, VARYING ISSUES WITH MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS SINCE I BEGAN LEASING THE CAR IN JUNE OF 2018. IN THE PAST YEAR OR SO ALONE, THE CAR HAS HAD THE UCONNECT SYSTEM REPLACED OR FIXED 4 TIMES, THE BRAKES WERE RECALLED AND REPAIRED, IT BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OUT OF OIL AT 6,000 MILES, AND NOW THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
I LEFT MY HOUSE AND DROVE ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND AS I WENT TO PROCEED ONTO AN EXTREMELY BUSY ROAD MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. IT WOULDNT MOVE AND TOLD ME TO SHIFT GEARS THEN PRESS THE BRAKE AND START BOTTON. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WOULD NOT RESTART THE CAR. IT TOOK BETWEEN 5-7 MINUTES TO FINALLY START RUNNING, BUT GAVE NO INDICATION OF WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE A MILE TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT ANY ISSUE, BUT WAS MOMENTARILY IN FEAR FOR MY LIFE AS THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITH NO NOTICE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I FOUND A WEBSITE CONTAINING OF HUNDREDS OF RECENT COMPLAINTS DESCRIBING THE EXACT SAME SCENARIO. JEEPS SOLUTION HAS BEEN THAT THE CARS ARE IN NEED OF OIL CHANGES, BUT YET FOR MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS, NO OIL WARNING LIGHT IS EVEN...
CAR HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 12 TIMES THE PAST 2 YEARS. I NOTICED STARTED AFTER 6K. TOOK OWNERSHIP OF VEHICLE IN AUG 2018. AT 6000 MILES IT RANDOMLY STALLED. RETURNED CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THERE WAS NO OIL SO THEY TOPPED OFF AND ASKED ME TO RETURN FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IN 1000 MILES. UPON RETURNING IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH WAS AT 9000 MILES. AT 14000 MILES THE SAME ISSUE BEGINS TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES, ONCE BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY, THE OTHER AT AN INTERSECTION. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE. AWAITING RETURN AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR RENTAL VEHICLE AND ANY COMPENSATION FROM JEEP. *DT*DT*JB

A LOANER VEHICLE WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO GET A RENTAL VEHICLE FOR TWO DAYS AND THE DEALER WOULD REIMBURSE HIM. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND STRUCK HER HEAD ON THE DASHBOARD. THE SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN HER PROPERLY AND SHE SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BACK INJURY. THE...

SAME ISSUE 2X NOW AND FEEL MY LIFE AND OTHERS ARE JEOPARDIZED. WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY COMING TO A RED LIGHT SLOWING DOWN FOR THE LIGHT TO THEN TURN GREEN WHILE PUSHING THE GAS THE CAR STALLED, SHUT DOWN AND EMERGENCY BRAKE TURNED ON, NOTHING WOULD WORK. I COULD NOT DISENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO EVEN MOVE THE CAR OFF THE LANE OF THE HIGHWAY AND WAS NEARLY IN A CAR ACCIDENT. THE FIRST INCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. I SAID SO WHILE I'M DRIVING, GETTING ON A HIGHWAY 1.5 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING MY HOME MY CAR WILL JUST SHUT DOWN? THE ANSWER WAS YES! UNACCEPTABLE!! WHICH IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR LOW OIL PRESSURE. IT USUALLY SHUTS DOWN WHILE GOING 25 TO 35 MPH ON A CITY STREET BUT HAS SHUT DOWN ON ME WHILE MERGING ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY.
