2017 JEEP COMPASS Unknown Or Other Problems

While attempting to do a U-turn on two different occiasions once the U-turn has been completed the car would stop and turn off. There was not power. Would attempt to restart the car and it would not. Needed to get a jump-start for the car to start. One other time when attempting to do a U-turn the car would act as if would stop, in this case did not but took about 2 miles before it would accelerate properly

Auto Start Stop feature stop working and caused my car to stall. I had to set my car to stop, take my foot of the break. Re started my car, all while traffic was going, in danger of getting rear ended.

Uconnect radio screen has severe delamination. This caused ghost presses on the screen. The ghost presses continuously make random phone calls including calls to emergency services. This poses a severe safety hazard as the operator has to pick their phone up to communicate with emergency personnel so law enforcement does not send a responding officer thinking there’s an emergency. It also poses a safety hazard for responding emergency personnel trying to respond to the false emergency notification.

Car shakes when on hill hadly

While driving Jeep losses power and stops. At garage now and they can’t find reasonable explanation. Has less than 50k miles. Danger while driving since it just shuts off while no lights come on to indicate problems

Auto stop/start will malfunction and show a message saying to cut the car off and start it again. This poses a huge safety issue as it can cause an accident from not starting up and shutting off when it stops. Car also says “please park safely car will shut off soon”. My alternator has been checked and the aux battery and regular battery have been replaced as well so they are unable to figure out why I’m getting this message.

The engine malfunctioned on the freeway causing my brother to have to pull to the side as safely as possible. The engine was smoking and all of the electrical systems started to fail. It said it was overheating.

2017 Jeep Compass has been having an issue with either the start-stop mechanism or the brakes. I was at a single lane red light. The engine went through the start-stop sequence, but when the light turned green and I released the brake, the car struggled to come to life at all and began to stall out. I had to wiggle the steering wheel and shift the gears to multiple places before returning it to drive and thankfully being able to keep moving. I turned the feature off in my car to prevent it from having any further issues while I just made it to work and back home. Known jeep problem- my screen is delaminating which is causing the radio stations to change, climate to turn on and off, phone calls to be made, etc. all whilst the vehicle is in motion, creating distractions.

Uconnect touch screen delaminating on my 2017 Jeep Compass Limited 4X4. Started right after my car was just out of warranty, so when I called no one would help me or fix the issue. This was about 2 years ago, I have been dealing with this issue since 2020, it is now 2023.. Since then the screen has gotten WAY worse, delaminating half the screen. It is very distracting while driving and a safety hazard as it will randomly change settings, change which screen I'm on (if on audio, it will change to climate control etc.), sometimes does not work while I am touching the screen, like if I am trying change my climate control settings. I have done some research and found others that say they got the radio relaced for free because it is a safety Hazzard. The radio chooses options on its own such as the climate options and you can't change it when it happens. I can't keep the SOS app on the radio because it randomly chooses it. I have to keep it turned off and there are some things you cannot use without the radio. It controls all of the driver assist options.

Issues staring the car, dealership makes me buy a new battery and that’s not the problem. Still after spending money on a new battery, it’s a problem. 13.4 v and it still has issues starting. Sometimes it starts and will NOT let me leave park. I am exhausted of these issues and constantly missing work because of this car the whole point in buying a 2017 car was for it to be reliable, and instead I’m having a problem even starting it!!!!

Touch screen on radio/dash is delaminating causing ghost touches. The delamination has caused issues with AC/heating since it glitches and presses what it wants.

The uconnect system screen malfunctions and the screen turns black at times. The system can also make random loud noises while driving. The screen will also keep the backup camera on while you are in drive and cause a major distraction if you look at it. The uconnect screen also has delamination and has bubblin on the screen which is a common problem across many Jeep-Dodge-Ram-Chrysler models between the years of 2017-2019 with the research I have found. In my car it causes ghost movements and screen locking ehich can be incredibly dangerous and distracting.

My vehicle continually stalls when driving or at stop lights. Sometimes it will start back up other times I have to have it towed.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM JEEP COMPLETELY STOPS WITH NO WARNING DUE TO INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL FAILURE

WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT WITH THE ENGINE IN GEAR (DRIVE) THERE WILL BE A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. IF YOU SHIFT INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL IT WILL STOP. IT ONLY VIBRATES AT AN IDLE WHILE IN GEAR ONCE YOU START MOVING IT STOPS.

MY VEHICLE WENT FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL ACCELERATION OR ACCELERATE AND MAKING A STRANGE SOUND WHILE IN MOTION WHILE THE RPM WAS STEADY GOING UP, TO NOT ACCELERATING AT ALL WHILE IN MOTION, TO NOT SHIFTING GEARS, TO NOT DOING ANYTHING IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I FIRST NOTICED ALL OF THE PROBLEMS. I HAD TO PULL ON SIDE OF THE ROAD MULTIPLE TIMES. IT WAS SCARY AND DANGEROUS BEING ON SIDE OF THE ROAD AS A WOMAN AT NIGHT WITH VERY LITTLE LIGHTING IN THE AREA. WHEN THE VEHICLE DIDN'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL IT WAS PARKED.

MY JEEP COMPASS IS HAVING ISSUES STARTING. I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC TWICE IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS BECAUSE IT KEEPS NOT STARTING! I'VE TRIED JUMPING THE BATTERY AND NOTHING. WHILE PULLING OFF FROM A STOP, THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE TURNS ON BY ITSELF. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES, TYPICALLY ON FLAT CITY STREET AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE CAR TO DRIVE IS TO RESTART THE ENGINE, BUT THIS SOMETIMES TAKES A FEW TIMES TO START.

I PURCHASED A 2017 JEEP COMPASS IN DECEMBER 2019, FROM A MAJOR NATIONWIDE RENTAL AGENCY, WITH A 36 MONTH WARRANTY. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 530AM, IN DARKNESS, AT 65 MPH IN A STRAIGHT DIRECTION, IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY, WHEN THE ENGINE ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE TO TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, BUT WITH DIFFICULTY BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING HAD STOPPED WORKING AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP, WHERE THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE FULL REPAIR.

THE START/STOP FEATURE CAUSES MY CAR TO STALL. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD AUTOMATICALLY GET ENABLED AND I BASICALLY CAN'T GET MY CAR TO MOVE UNTIL I PUT MY CAR IN PARK, DISABLE TO THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND TURN MY CAR ON AND OFF. THIS FEATURE IS SUCH AN INCONVENIENCE DUE TO THE CHANCE OF STALLING AT EVERY STOP LIGHT/INTERSECTION. THIS INCREASES THE CHANCES OF GETTING REAR ENDED. IN ADDITION, TODAY MY FRONT COLLISION WARNING + BRAKES GOT ACTIVATED WHILE I WAS IN MOTION WITHOUT ANYTHING IN FRONT OF ME. AGAIN, ANOTHER POSSIBILITY OF GETTING REAR ENDED.

WHILE AT A RED LIGHT, THE COMPASS WENT INTO AUTO STOP. WHEN MY FOOT RELEASED THE BRAKE, THE CAR SHUTTERED, A LIGHT APPEARED AND IT APPEARED TO STALL. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AND HAD TO BRAKE, PARK THE VEHICLE, TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON (IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION). THE NEXT MORNING, WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAYN THE VEHICLE DID NOT APPEAR AFFECTED, BUT A DIFFERENT LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING COLLISION WARNING WAS TURNED OFF. IT DID NOT GO OFF UNTIL THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND DID NOT APPEAR TO POP BACK UP. LATER THAT SAME DAY, WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL GOING ABOUT 76 MPH IN THE LEFT HAND LANE, THE VEHICLE SHUTTERED, AND APPEARED TO STALL. THE SAME LIGHT TURNED ON. I WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT HAND SHOULDER, THEN IT OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON....

AUTO STOP FAILED TO RESTART VEHICLE WHILE STOPPED AT STOP LIGHT. PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED AND CAR WAS UNABLE TO MOVE. HAD TO PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURN OFF VEHICLE. THEN HAD TO RESTART TO CONTINUE DRIVING.

AFTER COMING TO COMPLETE STOP, CAR ENGINE SHUTS OFF DUE TO START/STOP SYSTEM. WHEN RELEASING BREAK CAR CANNOT START BACK UP, ALL LIGHTS TURN ON, EMERGENCY BREAK IS AUTOMATICALLY ENABLED AND STALLS. I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN OFF (EVEN THOUGH ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING) AND TURN BACK ON AND REMOVE THE EMERGENCY BREAK BEFORE I CAN ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON BUSY INTERSECTIONS AND IS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THE BATTERY WAS BAD. BATTERY WAS REPLACED BUT THE ISSUE IS NOW MORE FREQUENT.

2017 JEEP COMPASS LIMITED HAS EXPERIENCED 5 EPISODES OF STALLING AFTER COMING TO A STOP. VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE AUTO STOP/START FEATURE AND EACH TIME THE AUTO STOP/START TURNS BACK ON, JUST AS THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT AND SHUTS OFF. THE VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO BE IMMEDIATELY TURNED BACK ON AND MOVED TO SAFETY. THIS HAS OCCURRED 5 TIMES ON BUSY ROADS CAUSING A LIFE SAFETY HAZARD. ON THE 4TH TIME THIS OCCURRED A MECHANIC STATED IT WAS DUE TO LOW OIL. AN OIL CHANGE WAS CONDUCTED AND A WEEK LATER THE 5TH STALLING EPISODE OCCURRED, THIS TIME IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STATE ROAD INTERSECTION DURING RUSH HOUR. FORTUNATELY ANY INJURY/ACCIDENT HAS BEEN AVOIDED, HOWEVER THESE INCIDENTS COULD EASILY LEAD TO SEVERE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS EXTENSIVE SIMILAR REPORTS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE.

WHEN MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS, IT GOES INTO 4WD. DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU'RE ON THE ROADWAY OR TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT OR EVEN BACKING UP. FEELS LIKE SOMETHING GRABBING IN EITHER THE FRONT OR BACK CAN'T REALLY TELL. MAKES GRINDING NOISE. TOOK BACK TO THE DEALER TWICE NOW AND THEY ALSO SAY IT WAS THE 4WD THAT THEY CAN'T FIX ANYTHING BECAUSE JEEP KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR JEEP TO DO A RECALL. IT GETS WORSE EVERY DAY. THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT GIVE US A PAPER BECAUSE OF WAITING ON THE RECALL. ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 3 MONTHS AND NOBODY WANTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

CAR SHAKES AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED

MAY 23, 2019, MY HUSBAND WAS IN AN ACCIDENT THAT TOTALED OUR COMPASS ACCORDING TO THE POLICE IN THE TOWN. THE SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 30MPG. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY HUSBAND WAS TAKEN TO FINLEY HOSPITAL. THERE WERE INJURIES CONSISTING OF ROTATOR CUFF DAMAGE. I WILL BE LOOKING INTO A LAWSUIT. THIS CAR IS VERY UNSAFE! THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, HE SAID HE EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE AND STRUCK A TRAILER HOLDING A RIDING LAWNMOWER. IT WAS 12:16 PM.

ONCE STARTING THE VEHICLE THE CAR REMAINS IN THE PARK POSITION AND CAN NOT BE MOVED INTO ANY OTHER GEAR. I HAVE BEEN STUCK WITH MY DAUGHTERS IN THE MID DAY IN THE HEAT BECAUSE I CAN NOT CHANGE THE GEAR. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION EVERY OCCURRENCE AND HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY. THE JEEP HAS SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAD THE AUTOMATIC OFF TURNED OFF AND WHEN I STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THE JEEP POWERED DOWN, DASH AND LIGHTS WENT CRAZY, AND MY JEEP WOULD NOT START BACK UP. IT TOOK OVER 5 MINUTES TO GET THE JEEP TO COME BACK ON. THERE IS ALSO A POPPING NOISE AND A VERY HARD SHIFT AT TIMES. WHEN THIS HARD SHIFT OCCURS IT PULLS MY JEEP TO THE RIGHT, I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES THIS YEAR AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THEY THOUGHT CHANGING MY SHOCKS WOULD HELP BUT IT HAS NOT. THERE IS STILL A POPPING SOUND WHEN I HIT A CERTAIN SPEED AND THEN IT IS STILL SHIFTING EXTREMELY HARD RANDOMLY AND JERKS THE WHOLE JEEP WHEN IT HAPPENS....

TWICE THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED AT A STOP SIGN. THE D ON THE GEAR SHIFT AND THE DASHBOARD FLASH AND IT SAYS PUT THE CAR IN PARK. THEN IT SAYS PRESS THE BRAKE AND PUSH START. AFTER THE CAR RESTARTS AND YOU BEGIN TO DRIVE IT FLASHES LOW OIL PRESSURE. THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED WE WERE DRIVING. THE LOW OIL PRESSURE FLASHED AND IT FELT KIND OF LIKE THE CAR WAS DRAGGING. WE HAD SLOWED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND THE CAR STALLED OUT. THE D ON THE GEAR SHIFTER AND THE DASHBOARD FLASHED AND IT SAID PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN HOLD BRAKE AND PRESS START. THIS TIME WHEN I PRESSED THE START BUTTON IT SEEMED LIKE IT KEPT TRYING TO START THE CAR. I HAD TO PRESS THE BUTTON AGAIN TO MAKE IT STOP MAKING THAT SOUND.

I AM STILL IN SHOCK AND STILL QUITE SHAKEN UP ON THE MORNING OF TUES., 9/25/2018, WHEN AS USUAL GOT OUT OF MY HOME INTO MY JEEP TO GO TO WORK A FEW MINUTES BEFORE 6 AM. I CAREFULLY AT THE ENTRANCE AND EXIT OF MY COMMUNITY, I WAIT FOR ONGOING TRAFFIC TO BE FAR ENOUGH FOR ME TO DRIVE TOWARDS THE BLVD. AS MY JEEP STARTED TOWARDS PART OF THE BOULEVARD ALL OF SUDDEN, THE ENGINE STOPPED AS I DID NOT PRESS THE BYPASS BUTTON SO THE JEEP WENT INTO SLEEP MODE, WHEN I PRESSED THE BUTTON, IT READ," PUT VEHICLE ON PARKING MODE TO RESTART". MY HEART ALMOST CAME OUT OF MY MOUTH BECAUSE IF THERE WAS TRAFFIC ON MY LEFT I DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BY THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC THAT WAS HEADING TOWARDS ME FROM THE LEFT, I PLACED THE JEEP IN PARK, I THEN PLACED...
