I was approaching a stoplight and every light on the dash lit up, the car wouldn’t go after stopping and it wouldn’t turn off when put in park. I also couldn’t shift into any other gear. This is seriously dangerous and not the first time I’ve had major mechanical issues with this vehicle.
My lights keep blinking on dashboard saying 4 wheeldrive isn't available and my vehicle keeps shutting off in the middle of me driving it,this is very dangerous,I took it to Carlock Dodge Jeep and for recall on vehicle that they say was causing the problem they fixed the recall but vehicle still doing the same thing
While attempting to do a U-turn on two different occiasions once the U-turn has been completed the car would stop and turn off. There was not power. Would attempt to restart the car and it would not. Needed to get a jump-start for the car to start. One other time when attempting to do a U-turn the car would act as if would stop, in this case did not but took about 2 miles before it would accelerate properly
When driving the vehicle it has shut off the engine and stalled, it also shut off and a few milliseconds later restarted on the highway has done the multiple time
Wiring compartment under the front wheel well is completely eroded away which caused my vehicle to completely stop driving and turning on. When looking at the whole wiring harness under the wheel well, wires were completely falling out of where they connect to the fuses because of how bad the erosion is. I was driving my car with my 4 year old child in it on the highway and it started to jerk, lights started flashing on the dash, including the airbag light, and then all at once shut completely off, lights went out, would not start back up at all. I had it towed back to my house and now it will not start up at all. I replaced a bunch of parts to it and then that is when I discovered that it was the whole wiring box under the wheel well that had corrode a bunch of...
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument panel became inoperable. The contact stated that several warning lights were illuminated after restarting the vehicle. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,955.
While driving Jeep losses power and stops. At garage now and they can’t find reasonable explanation. Has less than 50k miles. Danger while driving since it just shuts off while no lights come on to indicate problems
Let me start by saying I am an electrician. I have had several electrical problems with this car, most recently my Headlights come on intermittently. I start my car and turn the headlight switch on, sometimes it takes up to 20 minutes for them to kick on. I have checked the batteries, the Fuses, the grounding connections, and the switch. This is very dangerous, and I have already spent money trying to fix the problem to no avail. I travel a lot and It's frightening when it gets dark and I have to switch the headlights on while driving. I have no way of knowing if they are working while I'm on the road. I see several other people complaing of the same exact problem, why hasn't a recall been issued?
The defrost system built into the front windsheild shorted out. This issue resulted in sparking and smoking inside of the car while the front electrical defrost was turned on. This issue could have easily resulted in catastrophic events had we not realized exactly what was happening. There were no warnings of the sytem being in failure. The issue is also apparently not covered under the vehicle warranty and now will cost out of pocket to replace something that I had no control over. The dealership was able to confirm the issue.
Two times while driving the car shuts completely down, No acceleration, no warning lights, hard to steer. Both times luckily I was on a low traffic road. After it completely stopped and I tried to restart the car it would sound like it wanted to turn over but never did. It sounded like when someone floods a car. Another time it was -20 outside and I was starting it from my key starter ( I don't have one of the newer key fobs)...mine has a normal key with an electric lock and auto start buttons. Anyway I pushed the starter button and it acted like normal with the headlights blinked twice and normally it starts in about 3 seconds. When I went to get in my car it was off and stone cold. I went to start it and acted like I previously stated. The master mechanics can't find anything...
Auto stop/start will malfunction and show a message saying to cut the car off and start it again. This poses a huge safety issue as it can cause an accident from not starting up and shutting off when it stops. Car also says “please park safely car will shut off soon”. My alternator has been checked and the aux battery and regular battery have been replaced as well so they are unable to figure out why I’m getting this message.
UNKNOWN the screen on my JEEP COMPASS has gone dark i can't see anything to let me know what functions are happening I have spoken to Jeep and they said i have to replace the unit at over $2000.i believe its a dangerous situation. Can someone please help me
I was traveling northbound on ih35 near exit 329 outside of Waco, Tx travel to Dallas Tx I was in the middle of the highway during rainfall when my jeep completely shut down on me without warning all lights came on radio went black, brake was stiff, steering wheel locked. I had to have my jeep towed $300 later. My vehicle was in park and the vehicle said not in park. Vehicle wouldn’t start up. I was in the 3rd lane of a 4 lane highway when the vehicle stalled and shut off easily could have gotten hit from oncoming traffic. I was on the side of the road for 5 hours not knowing what was wrong with my vehicle. I had a full tank of gas and fluids were A1. I looked up my vin with no recalls being shown. 2017 Jeep Compass has been having an issue with either the start-stop mechanism or the brakes. I was at a single lane red light. The engine went through the start-stop sequence, but when the light turned green and I released the brake, the car struggled to come to life at all and began to stall out. I had to wiggle the steering wheel and shift the gears to multiple places before returning it to drive and thankfully being able to keep moving. I turned the feature off in my car to prevent it from having any further issues while I just made it to work and back home. When I got to the next light and stepped on the brake, I heard a sound and when I looked down and noticed that the parking brake had engaged on its own. This car is having tons of electrical issues. From wire malfunctions in the radio to the ORC module failing. All lights for air bags, abs breaks, check engine, and everything electrical are beeping and flashing. The air bags will not work if I get in an accident and I've read they can deploy at any time while I am driving! If you look online, Chrysler/Jeep has LOTS of ORC failure issues and have even recalled for this for it before. This issue should be covered for until at least 100k miles. Some people have had this ORC module fail at as little as 18k miles. I still have 2 warranties on this car and not one covers it. Chrysler/Jeep should be responsible for fixing this. While driving down the road, all doors closed, and with the lift gate closed the Jeep Compass' Emergency Parking Break is engaging at random. Shortly before it does this the vehicle loses ability to accelerate. A quick google search has yielded many hits on many Jeep Compass and Jeep Cherokee owners from years ranging from 2014 to 2020 having the same problem and Jeep refusing to acknowledge or fix the issue. This is a serious safety concern that is going to get people killed.
the auto start/stop function shuts vehicle off and unable to start gain my safety and of others was high as it happens on multiple lane highways unable to reproduce as it can happen randomly, there were no warning lights or any other sign of future stalling or complete shut down when stopping.
My Jeep was manufactured August 2016 directly after a recall for camshaft position sensory and crankshaft position sensor. For the past 3 years I have gotten a periodical check engine light for the camshaft position sensor in bank 1. Two weeks ago the engine began to stall at random times and the camshaft position sensor light came back on. I replaced it this weekend and the issue is persisting. I've checked everything else and there are no other codes that are pulling. I have had it inspected at my employment since I work for a dealership. The engine stalling on the highway is putting me and other drivers at a huge safety risk. I have almost been hit three times when it has stalled and there is nothing I can do in the middle of the road.
Delamination of touch screen to radio/electronic control panel. This causes the system to touch random portions of the screen, deeming it uncontrollable. The system will also make phone calls I’m not trying to make. More importantly, when I try to make phone calls, it will immediately disconnect the call. I had an emergency on the road recently and needed to make and receive calls but was unable to! In addition, I was driving and trying to figure out how to get my phone to work, which was a huge danger to me and others. This is stock equipment manufactured by LG. The first sign of this issue was the screen changing randomly, plus there is visible signs of delamination, which at first i believed to be water damage. No one has raised this issue after inspection, but after doing a quick search, I see that it is a widespread problem...
While driving at highway speeds, the engine shut off and power steering is disabled. The dashboard says that the car is still on and will not restart the car. This is an EXTREEMLY dangerous situation, and my family is lucky to be alive. The problem had been reproduced by Christian Brother Automotive. They have replaced the camshaft sensor as well as the batteries and updated the firmware of the car. The issue continues to persist, and Christian Brothers will not release the car to me. No the Vehicle has not bee inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representative. No Warning lamps, messages or other symptoms presented themself prior to the problem. After about 20 minutes the car is can be restarted and will operate as normal until it automagically cuts out the next time.
Uconnect touch screen delaminating on my 2017 Jeep Compass Limited 4X4. Started right after my car was just out of warranty, so when I called no one would help me or fix the issue. This was about 2 years ago, I have been dealing with this issue since 2020, it is now 2023.. Since then the screen has gotten WAY worse, delaminating half the screen. It is very distracting while driving and a safety hazard as it will randomly change settings, change which screen I'm on (if on audio, it will change to climate control etc.), sometimes does not work while I am touching the screen, like if I am trying change my climate control settings. Question 1: The Auto stop start system went out last October or November and I couldn't get it into the shop with in the warranty because they wouldn't schedule it. After that in February my battery started dying and I had to replace my battery 5 times now. That's when starting in August all of my instrument cluster/panel would light up and it would start my lights on the inside of the car to flash, radio to start cracking and the doors locks switching back and forth. It then will start flashing the ABS warning. The ABS warning wont stay on but it will ding and flash about every 2-5 minutes. Then it will show the pull over safely vehicle ill shut off soon and begin locking up my front driver side tire and rip you into on coming traffic. Then it will start going into limp mode and then...
Issues staring the car, dealership makes me buy a new battery and that’s not the problem. Still after spending money on a new battery, it’s a problem. 13.4 v and it still has issues starting. Sometimes it starts and will NOT let me leave park. I am exhausted of these issues and constantly missing work because of this car the whole point in buying a 2017 car was for it to be reliable, and instead I’m having a problem even starting it!!!!
Uconnect infotainment system random changing climate settings, radio stations, not working at all, incorrect navigation. Digitizer has de-laminated causing random actions. Very bad safety hazard, besides being distracting while driving.
Delamination of Uconnect radio causing multiple electronic malfunctions on vehicle, causing a safety issue. Problem has been reproduced and was confirmed by dealership on November 5th 2021. Issue first started in February of 2020.
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shutoff without warning. The contact also stated that the vehicle failed to start-up after multiple attempts. The vehicle had to be jump started. The vehicle was taken to Classic Honda of Midland (3705 W Wall St, Midland, TX 79703) and they offered no assistance. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they discovered that the battery was defective; however, after multiple replacements, the failure continued. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
MY JEEP COMPASS IS HAVING ISSUES STARTING. I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC TWICE IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS BECAUSE IT KEEPS NOT STARTING! I'VE TRIED JUMPING THE BATTERY AND NOTHING. MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS. MOST NOTABLY IS WHEN I START THE CAR THE TEMPERATURE RESETS ITSELF TO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IT WAS. I.E. TURNED CAR OFF WITH TEMP LO AND RESET ITSELF TO HI. TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATES THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THIS AT ALL. THIS STILL HAPPENS WITH NO RESOLVE. NOW I RECEIVE DASH MESSAGES STATING MULTIPLE LIGHTS DON'T WORK SUCH AS THE BRAKE LIGHTS HOWEVER THEY ARE PERFECTLY FINE. OTHER MESSAGES HAVE FLASHED BUT THEN DISAPPEAR. ALSO ISSUES WITH THE USB AND UCONNECT. USB HAS BEEN REPLACED DUE TO BEING LOOSE BUT NOW AS I DRIVE THE USB CUTS IN AND OUT. ALSO HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THIS ISSUE.MANY OF THESE ISSUES STARTED 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND STILL PERSIST TO THIS DAY.
2ND TIME THIS HAPPENED WITHIN A MONTH. DEALER CHANGED BATTERIES 1ST TIME. COMPUTER SYSTEM RUNS THROUGH A NUMBER OF MESSAGES STATING VARIOUS SETTINGS ARE NOT WORKING. EXAMPLE: ENGINE LIGHT, AIR BAG, OIL, WITH EVERY WARNING LIGHT THERE IS. VEHICLE JUST SHUT DOWN ON A BUSY ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS. 15 MIN LATER IT STARTED BACK UP LIKE THERE WASNT A PROBLEM. THERE IS EXCESS OIL USE ALSO. CHANGED OIL, A MONTH LATER, ITS A 1/4 LOW. NO DRIPS EITHER. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD.
THE RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN. FIRST, THE RADIO SCREEN HAS BEEN SLOWLY SEPARATING FROM THE RADIO, WHICH HASN'T AFFECTED THE USE OF THE TOUCH SCREEN USAGE. IT IS ABOUT HALF WAY SEPARATED. ALL OF A SUDDEN WE FIND THE UNIT CHANGING OUR RADIO STATIONS USING OUR PRESETS AND MANUALLY ENTERING IN DIGITS; IT SCROLLS THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING VENT OPTIONS AND STOPS ON ANY ONE OF THEM RANDOMLY; IT HAS SELECTED THE UCONNECT APP TRYING TO LOAD SOME APPLICATION THAT ISN'T LOADED; IT HAS SELECTED TO TURN ON THE HEATED STEERING WHEEL; IT HAS SELECTED TO TURN ON EITHER SEAT'S HEATER AND THEN OFF AGAIN, THEN BOTH, ETC.; IT HAS SELECTED THE NAVIGATION AND ROUTED TO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND STARTED THE NAVIGATION ALL ON IT'S OWN; ON ONE DRIVE, WHILE IN MOTION, THIS SUMMER WHEN 100 DEG OUTSIDE, IT HAS TURNED THE HEATER ALL...
CAR WON'T START CHANGED THE BATTERY WORKED FOR A DAY THEN HAD A CLICKING NOSE LIKE BATTERY WAS DEAD. CHARGED IT CRANKED UP LASTED A DAY STOPPED AGAIN.
THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES. THE VEHICLE IS OFF FOR MAX OF 3 HOUR PERIOD. UPON STARTING VEHICLE TO DRIVE, IT RUNS IDLE AND ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER. THE COMPUTER SYSTEM RUNS THROUGH A NUMBER OF MESSAGES STATING VARIOUS SETTINGS ARE NOT WORKING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. DRIVER'S SIDE CAN'T CONTROL PASSENGER SIDE FUNCTIONS. CLICKING SOUNDS HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH VEHICLE. FOG LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND BLIND SPOT LIGHTS ON SIDE MIRRORS REMAIN ON. VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF.
REMOTE START BEGAN FAILING THEN WOULDN'T EVEN START WITH KEY. HAD TO REPLACE STARTER DUE TO WHERE STARTER IS LOCATED IT GETS SO HOT IT FRIED THE WIRING. MECHANIC STATED DUE TO WHERE THE STARTER IS LOCATED, I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO REPLACE IT EVERY YEAR OR TWO. VERY POOR DESIGN.
IN VERY HOT TEMPERATURES AFTER CAR HAS BEEN OFF. THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL RESETS ITSELF TO HI HEAT/DEFROST WHEN RESTARTED, EVEN THO IT WAS SET ON LO AIR WHEN VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. SCREEN HAS ALSO GONE BLACK WITH NO RADIO OR BACK UP CAMERA. TAKES A FEW RESTARTS TO FIX.
WHEN YOU PARK THE JEEP AND TURN IT OFF THE STARTER KEEPS CLICKING LIKE IT IS TRYING TO START THE RADIO COMES ON WITH NO BODY IN JEEP WHEN IT IS OFF AND IT ALL THIS MAKES THE BATTERY GO DEAD
WHILE DRIVING I GOT A CODE ON THE CAR DASH THAT READ SOMETHING LIKE 'UNABLE TO DRIVE' THEN AS TURNING THE BEND IN ROAD AT 20/25MPH THE CAR STARTED PULLING TO LEFT STEERING THE WHEEL BECAME TOO HARD AND I HEARD A SNAP NOISE TURNS OUT MY BALL JOINT SNAPPED ON THE JEEP! OVER 5000 IN DAMAGE AND IT WAS NOT DUE TO IMPACT! IT SNAPPED CLEAN OFF THEN ENDED UP CAUSING MY TO SWOP A PARKED CAR. THANKFULLY WASN'T ON HIGHWAY YOUR 2017 COMPASSES HAVE SEVERE ELECTRICAL ISSUES THE CAR DOESN'T GO RIGHT AWAY WHEN SHIFTED TO DESIRED GEAR AND ON TOP OF IT ALL YOUR BALL JOINTS ARE FAULTY! CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY AND RECALL THIS I'VE SEEN A LOT OF OPEN SOURCE REPORTING OF THE SAME ISSUE. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL A MORTALITY OCCURS FOR YOU TO DO SOMETHING! ASSEMBLE THESE CARE CORRECTLY!!! FOR THE THIRD TIME THE SINCE NOV 13 THE AUTO-START FAILED TO RESTART AFTER THE ENGINE WAS STOPPED DURING A BRAKED IDLE (WAITING AT LIGHT OR WAITING TO TURN). THE FIRST TIME THE AUTO-START BATTERIES AND FUSE WERE REPLACED. THE SECOND TIME THE WHOLE AUTO-START CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. I;M WAITING FOR FEEDBACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP TODAY ON THEIR FINDINGS. THE FAILURE HAS LEFT ME STRANDED 3X IN HEAVY/RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN CONDITIONS VERY DANGEROUS TO MYSELF, MY PASSENGERS AND OTHER DRIVERS.

THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD AUTOMATICALLY GET ENABLED AND I BASICALLY CAN'T GET MY CAR TO MOVE UNTIL I PUT MY CAR IN PARK, DISABLE TO THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND TURN MY CAR ON AND OFF. THIS FEATURE IS SUCH AN INCONVENIENCE DUE TO THE CHANCE OF STALLING AT EVERY STOP LIGHT/INTERSECTION. THIS INCREASES THE CHANCES OF GETTING REAR ENDED. IN ADDITION, TODAY MY FRONT COLLISION WARNING + BRAKES GOT ACTIVATED WHILE I WAS IN MOTION WITHOUT ANYTHING IN FRONT OF ME. AGAIN, ANOTHER POSSIBILITY OF GETTING REAR ENDED.

START/STOP SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING AND THEN BURNED OUT REGULAR BATTERY, PREVENTING CAR FROM STARTING. SYSTEM CONTINUES TO OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY, STOPPING THE CAR WHEN ITS NOT FULLY WARMED UP AND OTHER TIMES NOT STOPPING THE CAR WHEN THE CAR IS FULLY WARMED UP.
WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE IT WOULD GO STRAIGHT UNTILL IT KICKED BACK IN GEAR. ON HIGHWAY GEAR SWITCHED ON ITS OWN SLOWED DOWN AND KICKED BACK IN. I COULD OF GOT IN S MAJOR ACCIDENT. I JUST BROUGHT THE CAR ON 01/17/2020
I PURCHASED MY 2017 JEEP COMPASS TRAIL HAWK BRAND NEW, MY PRODUCTION DATE IS APRIL 26, 2017. I HAVE HAD ENDLESS ISSUES W/ THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE OWNED OTHER JEEPS AND NEVER HAD THESE ISSUES. IT STARTED W/ MY RADIO MAKING THIS CRAZY INDESCRIBABLY LOUD SOUND ALONG W/ FREEZING THE SCREEN. TURNING OFF THE RADIO WOULD NOT STOP THE SOUND, NOT EVEN TURNING OFF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WOULD STOP THE SOUND. SERV DEPT COULD NEVER REPLICATE, I BROUGHT IT IN ONE TIME WHEN RADIO WAS ON A NON-EXISTENT PHONE CALL AND ACTING UP. THEY TOOK MY CAR AND TURNED IT OFF, NEXT DAY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE. I DEMANDED THAT THE GIRL WHO TOOK MY CAR IN AND SAW WHAT WAS GOING ON SPEAK WITH THE TECH TO EXPLAIN WHAT SHE SAW. THEY AGREED TO ORDER ME A NEW RADIO. RECOMMENDED 5000 OIL CHANGES BUT DEALERS WILL SAY 3000 AND TO CHECK OIL EVERY 2 DAYS BECAUSE IT MAY NEED 4-5 QTS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. MY 2019 JEEP COMPASS HAS HAD NUMEROUS SAFETY CONCERNS, ESPECIALLY RELATED TO THE ENGINE AND THE PUSH-TO-START FEATURE. MOST RECENTLY, I HAVE BEEN IN (D) DRIVE, BOTH STATIONARY (I.E AT A RED LIGHT) OR IN MOTION (I.E HIGHWAY, MAIN ROAD, SIDE STREET, ROTARY) AND BOTH ON A CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD ALERTS ME TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO THE (P) PARK GEAR. I HAD A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY 2017 JEEP COMPASS THAT I AM CURRENTLY LEASING. THE CAR WOULD STOP AND SHUT DOWN ON ITS OWN WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY LIGHTS TURNING ON. IT HAD TO DO WITH THE PARKING BRAKE AS WELL. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE NORTH HAVEN, CT DEALERSHIP TO GET FIXED, THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX IT AND HAD TO CONTACT CHRYSLER. SHORT VERSION: I USED THE REMOTE STARTER ON MY COMPASS. AS I WAS DRIVING, I NOTICED A SMALL RED LIGHT BETWEEN MY WINDSHIELD AND DASHBOARD. THE RED LIGHT TURNED INTO A VERY SMALL BRIGHT ORANGE FLAME. WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR IT WAS GONE. I CHECKED WITH A FLASHLIGHT AND SAW BURN MARK'S ON BOTH THE WINDSHIELD AND DASHBOARD. WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE REMOTE STARTER NOTHING HAPPENED. CAR STALLED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS WHILE AT STOP LIGHTS. I WAS STOPPED AT LIGHT AND WHEN I WENT TO MOVE AGAIN THE CAR STALLED-ALL PANEL LIGHTS FLASHED AND CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON AGAIN. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS THE CAR FINALLY STARTED. AFTER THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE I DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO THE NEAREST MIDAS BECAUSE OI WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ANY FARTHER. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND COULD NOT FIND A DEFINITIVE ANSWER. THE BATTERY WAS FINE.
