I was driving on the highway 11/30/2021 when my engine light came on and the vehicle was shaking uncontrollably and I couldn’t accelerate much. I pulled over and called a relative to trail me to a local Firestone. I assumed it was spark plugs but they tested it and it was a code p 304 cylinder 4 misfire. My car is currently at a mechanic shop named forest hill garage in Montgomery Alabama they called me 12/8/2021 and told me it’s a cylinder 4 misfire and it costs around $5,000 to fix and replace. He also stated there’s 7 other vehicles the same type of Hyundai up there with the same exact issue!!! Something is definitely wrong and needs to be recalled. I haven’t gotten the other documentation as of 12/08/2021 because I am at work
My engine has catastrophic damage due to not being notified by the manufacture about a recall that occurred years ago. Had I known about the recall, I would’ve addressed it and prevented the engine failure. It is currently sitting at a Hyundai dealership as they are working with me to try to get Hyundai to cover the costs of the engine failure. So far, they refuse. My safety was put at risk due to the car stalling out on me at any given moment. I cannot and have not been able to safely drive this vehicle therefore, it has been sitting mostly unused as I continue to make payments on it over the last 6 months. This problem is a reoccurring issue with my vehicle and others and there is a class action lawsuit against Hyundai for it, in which I missed the deadline because I just recently became aware...
The vehicle consumes an excessive amount of oil causing the engine to stall out
Car unexpectedly stopped working and became disabled while trveling 40 - 50 mph on the freeway. Complete loss of power. Danger of a collision on the freeway. All dash lights and warning lights came on. Car would not shift and would not accelerate. It was unsafe to drive and could hardly move off the road. The first year I had the car the engine light came on and loss of power. I took it to the dealership immediately. Whenever I took the car to the dealer they said there were no codes and the car was was fine. The entire time I owned the car I would lose power on inclined roads and engine light would come on and off. Last week November 18 the car stalled and could not drive uphill again risk of a collision from the rear. I took the car to the dealer they said the...
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at 30-40 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stalled. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact was able to restart the vehicle however, the vehicle was making abnormal sounds and would not accelerate properly. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic for an oil change however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V746000 (Engine). The dealer inspected the vehicle and advised the contact that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer also advised the contact that they would not complete the recall repair free of charge because the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to another...
2016 HYUNDAI SONATA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER RECALL, BUT CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE ISSUES. THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE MAKES UNUSUAL SOUNDS, THE COMPUTER SYSTEM REBOOTED ITSELF, THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE WAS INOPERABLE, THE SUN ROOF OPENS INDEPENDENTLY, AIRE LEAKS THROUGH THE FRAME OF THE DOOR AND GLOVE BOX, AND THE VEHICLE LOCKED WHILE THE KEY WAS STILL IN THE VEHICLE.
When I was at work the engine gave up with no warning and could have gotten very dangerous for me. when I called the dealership they said because my car was totaled, but when I called NHTSA they told me that they didn’t have the remedies. I just thought that was strange. I need my car to work so if I can get a response as fast as possible that would be great.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated, and no oil leakage was detected. The contact stated that her husband checked the oil level and discovered that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who confirmed the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The contact also stated that the independent mechanic changed all the spark plugs due to corrosion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a 3-step process which the first step was an oil change. The contact was informed to bring the vehicle back after 1,000 miles however, at 200 miles the oil level was below the normal level. The contact stated that her husband checked the...
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled and there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure and stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer performed an Electronic Control Module (ECM) and Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) Product Improvement Campaign software update and an engine compression test. The engine compression test was sent to the manufacturer for approval of the engine replacement. The manufacturer denied the request for an engine replacement. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the decision was final and that they would not replace the engine since the ECM software update needed to be...
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving on an incline, the vehicle lost power and slowed down. The check engine warning light was flashing. There was an abnormal knocking noise detected. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the anti-knocking device was installed in the vehicle. The contact was informed about the main bearing wear and engine replacement. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.
Driving at approximately 75 mph smoke started pouring out of engine bay dash lights came on to check HEV system and all of a sudden vehicle became difficult to control more smoke then screeching and a message to turn off engine now appeared fought with steering wheel to get to shoulder and slow to a stop upon opening the hood belt to cam shaft pulley had snapped
The engine keeps stalling and the engine light is flashing. The engine burns oil every 1,000 miles and the oil light will illuminate and go away. The dealership has said they fixed the issue but the issue keeps arising with no resolution. This issues is known for all Hyundai's and they are not doing anything about it. My car has stalled out on highways and I don't feel comfortable driving it out of the state.
Car lost power and went into limp mode, it was pretty dangerous. The car is burning a large amount of oil and is making the spark plugs dirty. I have brought the car for about 6 oil consumption tests and Hyundai does nothing to fix it. Engine oil light has come on twice, and even the dealership said that it should not be burning so much oil.
Engine developed spontaneous loud knock and check engine light illuminated while driving at approximately 60mph. Could not continue driving and had to pull over on the side of a busy highway. Had to walk down the side of the busy highway to a safe area. Had vehicle towed to an independent repair shop, vehicle diagnosed with catastrophic engine failure due to failure of internal engine components. Repair shop stated this was a known problem with this particular vehicle and engine and manufacturer should be financially responsible for repairs.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while his son-in-law was driving 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The manufacturer informed the contact that a software update had not been performed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The oil warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that he had to top off the oil level every 3 weeks with 5 quarts of oil. The contact also stated that while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle began to stall as the check engine light illuminated the instrument panel. Despite the failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The following day the contact drove the vehicle to a dealer. The contact had the spark plugs replaced by the dealer however, the failure recurred within a year of the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Oil light began to turn on when making turns or braking. Took vehicle to location of last oil change, despite only being 2600 miles after the previous oil change and was informed "there was no oil" despite no evidence of any leak. At that rate, I'd be burning a quart of oil every 500 miles. I see there are recalls for this issue on multiple Hyundais including the Sonata, but different years than my 2016 Sonata Sport, and it includes the possibility of an engine fire.
I accelerated my vehicle onto the busy highway after waiting at the stop sign for passing traffic to clear enough. Getting up to efficient speed for the highway, at ~3000rpms, the oil and engine warning lamps flashed and the car jerked while the rpms abruptly dropped below 1500, slowing the car down. Assuming that a sensor initiated “limp mode” I carefully drove ~100ft with the emergency flashers on to get to a safe place to pull over, preventing the possibility of an accident on the busy highway. I popped the hood, there was an odor similar to something being burned. Temperature gauge did not indicate engine running hot. Checked the oil- it was almost empty. This vehicle was last serviced with ~70,000 miles in May at Hyundai’s service department at the dealership.
The engine fails before 100,000 miles. Got an error code of P1326 (Wiring inspection/installation and engine replacement and error code P2600. The car suddenly dropped in MPH. Car is sluggish to accelerate and very difficult to go up hill. Little to no power on acceleration. Problem was identified at an independent service center, after inspection, taken to local dealer. Flashing check engine light came on once issue occurred. The engines in the Hyundai Sonatas are poor at best. Multiple people have needed their engines replaced in a very short time.
*The engine is the component with the issue. The car is at the dealership and has been for the past almost 6 weeks. *The car started "stuttering" or "stalling" while my son and I were in the car. My son has special needs. Luckily, it happened on our street and I was able to get back to my home. *The dealership has identified the problem: The car was 3 quarts low on oil and the oil had been leaking into the spark plugs. The car only has around 32500 miles on it. Hyundai has requested an oil consumption test. This requires me to drive it 1000 miles and have oil checked. They want me to do this 3 times! I will not feel safe doing that, knowing that oil is leaking into the spark plug assembly. I transport my special needs son and another young man who is severely autistic....
Fuel Pump Control Module replaced before 50,000 mi. - 58,539 mi. got my 2016 Hyundai Sonata Sport for ECM Update. Told dealership I heard ticking/clicking noise coming from engine; said oil was low and suggested oil change & low key battery was causing issues. Oil consumption was more and more 1qt every 2,000 mi, then 1qt every 1,000 mi. 1/29/21 at 90,340 mi, on the turnpike (70 MPH), car check engine light came on, car started vibrating VERY bad, pulled over & LIMP mode had activated. Hyundai dealership was 5 miles away, - found cylinder 2 had a misfire(s) - one of 2 exhaust valves burned a hole through; valve seat - damaged. Cylinder head and exhaust valves, spark plugs were replaced, & oil change. Engine light came on a couple days later car did not go to LIMP MODE. 2/12/21 at 93,466 mi, took the car to Hyundai for...
The intake manifold control runner motor has had to be replaced in my car multiple times. Twice from may 2021 to July 2021. The check engine light would come on and would reduce car performance drastically. Code scanner gave the p200a performance bank 1.
From April of 2020 to July of 2021. I have had 3 sets of 3 oil consumption tests for my car at 3 different Hyundai dealerships. I have spent $400-500 dollars on oil changes, oil filter cleaning, and fixing an oil peg that was broke. Which was not brought to my attention right away even though I was going to dealer ships almost every month this year. I just finished the final oil consumption test here in Conroe, Texas. Even though from the latest oil consumption tests, I have burnt .50-1 full quart of oil. They still have denied me an engine replacement. My oil changes does not last 5k miles but barely 1k. The oil is always black, it never is honey gold for long . Because Hyundai is not giving me a new engine to resolve this issue despite all these tests and there being a lawsuit on...
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact stated that the oil level warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed, but not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the Vin was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
I received Hyundai's Recall notice for Recall Campaign 198 regarding premature connecting rod bearings. I scheduled a service appointment at First Hyundai at 270 E Washington St, North Attleborough, MA 02760. (508) 699-4700 for April 29th, 2021. My car's engine started making noises on April 24th, 2021. I stopped the vehicle and had it towed to First Hyundai (listed above). The dealership took more than 7 days to inspect the vehicle and diagnosed it as connecting rod failure requiring a new engine. I contacted Hyundai customer service to arrange for "alternate transportation". Hyundai assigned me a case manager on 5/18/2021, but despite multiple phone calls and messages, I was not able to actually speak to my case manager until 5/25/2021. Hyundai refused to authorize alternate transportation prior to this, and when I spoke to my case manager she would only authorize reimbursements up to $30.00 per day for a Hyundai...
The 2016 MY Sonata has been driven all across the state due to business. During a recent trip of a couple hundred miles, upon returning home, the vehicle shuddered and failed the next day. The vehicle was towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer, and was to be diagnosed. It took longer than expected, and upon calling back to determine the issue, they said the "engine was gone." They reached out to Hyundai corporate and were told the same thing. There were no other signs or symptoms, and the vehicle operated normally during the long trip home.
YES I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM MY VENTS. I MADE IT TO THE NEAREST NEIGHBORHOOD BY MY HOME STOPPED FOR IT TO COOL DOWN FOR 10 MINUTES I START MY CAR BACK UP & IT WAS PERFECTLY FINE BY TIME I MADE IT TO A STOP SIGN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE I WAS IN THE CAR. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME IT WAS DUE TO AN ELECTRIC/ENGINE PROBLEM & NOTHING WAS MY FAULT. I DON'T HAVE INSURANCE TO COVER IT. THE NEXT MORNING I FOUND OUT ON THE INTERNET THAT ALL HYUNDAI'S AND KIAS HAVE A RE CALL ON CARS DUE TO ENGINE FIRE RISK. I WAS REALLY DEVASTATED WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT MY CAR HAS BEEN ON RE CALL NOT ONCE OR TWICE BUT THREE TIMES. BY LAW, IAM AUTHORIZE TO GET A CAR OR A CHECK OF HOW MUCH THE...
I WENT TO START MY CAR ON MAY 3, 2021 TO GO HOME AND MY CAR WAS SPUTTERING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T GET TO MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS. MY CAR BURNS OIL AND DOESN'T MAKE IT FROM OIL CHANGES. I HAVE HAD MY SPARK PLUGS REPLACED WHEN IT DID THIS THE LAST TIME.
MY ENGIN IS BURNING OIL IT SMOKES I HAD IT CHECKED FOR LEAKS BY A MECHANIC SHOP AND NO LEAKA ARE FOUND I WAA INFORMED THAT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH HYUNDAI AND IT WILL EVENTUALLY NEED TO BE REPLACED
ENGINE FAILURE AT 103,000 MILES. I WAS GETTING GAS AND AS I DRIVING AWAY, I HEARD SOMETHING POP AND I IMMEDIATELY LOSE POWER AND MY ENGINE WAS KNOCKING. I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE'S A RECALL AND I DON'T SEE ONE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MATTHEWS HYUNDAI OF SYRACUSE (2601 ERIE BLVD E, SYRACUSE, NY 13224) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE ENGINE NEEDING TO REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V746000 (ENGINE). THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, WHEN THE VEHICLE JERKED AND STALLED. THE CONTACT DETECTED A BURNING ODOR AND SAW WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE BATTERY, OIL, CHECK ENGINE AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. JASON PILGER HYUNDAI (613 DE LA POINTE DR, GAUTIER, MS 39553) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THAT HER OPTIONS WERE TO PUT A DOWN PAYMENT TOWARDS A TRADE IN VEHICLE OR DROP THE VEHICLE OFF TO GET THE RECALL SERVICED AND PAY FOR A LOANER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,644.
STARTED VEHICLE AND CAR STARTED SHAKING AND HAD A LOSS OF POWER. TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND STARTED IT BACK UP AND SAME THING HAPPENED. THEN TURNED CAR OFF FOR 5 MINUTES AND STARTED BACK UP AND RAN BUT STILL APPEARS TO SPUTTER EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH CAR. I THOUGHT IT WAS A RECALL / SAFETY ISSUE.
KNOCKING NOISE, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, OIL IN WHERE SPARK PLUG IS, LEAKS OILS AND RUNS OUT WAY BEFORE NEXT OIL CHANGE. CAR IN MOTION, STARTS TO IDLE WEIRD AND THEN CAR SHUTS OFF.
MY CAR IS PART OF HYUNDAI RECALL NUMBER 198. THEY SENT THE LETTERS OUT IN JANUARY STATING THERE IS NO REMEDY YET. MY ENGINE WAS AFFECTED BUY THIS AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I'VE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR FOR SIX WEEKS NOW. I MAKE SEVERAL CALLS TO THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS NUMBER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TWICE THAT A CASE MANAGER WILL CALL ME, I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN CALLED. NO ONE IS OFFERING AN ESTIMATED DATE ON THE REMEDY. NO ONE IS OFFERING A RENTAL CAR UNTIL THERE IS A REMEDY.
RECALL ON VEHICLE. ON MARCH 9, 2021, THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A CONCERNING NOISE SO WE IMMEDIATELY SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT LOOKED AT BY HATCHETT HYUNDAI. THE SOONEST THEY COULD GET IT IN WAS MONDAY, MARCH 15, 2021. HOWEVER, ON THURSDAY, MARCH 11, 2021, THE ENGINE MADE A TERRIFYING NOISE AND STOPPED DRIVING (ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD) WHICH WE HAVE RECORDED. WE PAID TO HAVE IT TOWED TO HATCHETT HYUNDAI. [XXX] WAS ABLE TO HEAR THE ENGINE AND WHAT IT WAS DOING AND IT WAS IN LINE WITH THE RECALL. ON TUESDAY, MARCH 16, 2021, OUR SPECIALIST [XXX] CONFIRMED THAT IT IS IN LINE WITH THE RECALL AND IS REQUESTING THAT THE ENGINE BE REPLACED. THE ENGINE BLEW WHILE IT WAS BEING LOOKED AT. THE ONLY CONCERN WAS THAT IT HAS A SALVAGE TITLE. I SAID I UNDERSTAND BUT THAT SALVAGE TITLE IS DUE TO COSMETIC DAMAGES...
THE CAR WAS MAINTENANCE ON THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED INTERVAL. A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE HAPPENED IN FEBRUARY OF 2020. NOT KNOWING THIS WASN'T A FLUKE ISSUE AND NOT HAVING A WARRANTY ON THE CAR. I PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT ENGINE ON MY OWN DIME COSTING A TOTAL OF $6500 IN REPAIR. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF SOONER BY THE MANUFACTURER.
THE ENGINE LOSES POWER. I ALMOST GOT HIT MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE OIL LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON RIGHT AFTER I GET AN OIL CHANGE. THE SENSOR FOR LANE DEPARTURE DOES NOT WORK. THIS CAN CAUSE DEATHS IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED HYUNDAI OF GREER WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I ALMOST DIED. I HAVE STOPPED PAYMENTS ON THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE PURCHASED A NEW ONE. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THIS DEATH TRAP.
WHILE DRIVING CAR LOSES POWER, FOOT IS ON THE GAS CAR WILL NOT MOVE. THEN JERKS. CAR IS IN REVERSE AND IT STILL MOVES FORWARD
I NOTICED A RECALL FOR PREMATURE ENGINE DAMAGE FOR SOME HYUNDAI MODELS. I HAVE A 2016 SONATA THAT IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME WARNING SIGNS. ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISES FROM THE ENGINE AND THE OIL LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE AFTER ADDING OIL WITHIN A FEW WEEKS. I'VE ALSO NOTICED A BURNING SMELL FROM TIME TO TIME. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON. BEFORE THE KNOCKING NOISE BEGAN I WOULD NOTICE HESITATION IN ACCELERATION EVERY NOW AND THEN BUT IT WASN'T CONSTANT. THE KNOCKING NOISE IS DURING DRIVING AND EVEN MORE SO WHEN TURNING. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR MAINTENANCE WHEN NEEDED BUT THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY AND I AM UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHY. ON THE RECALL LIST IS THE 2016 SONATA HYBRID BUT WITH MY SONATA BEING OF THE SAME YEAR I AM SURE IT SHOULD ALSO BE ON THE RECALL LIST SINCE THE ISSUES ARE...
ENGINE SUDDENLY FAILED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. SYMPTOMS PERFECTLY MATCH THOSE DETAILED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V746. HYUNDAI HAD PREVIOUSLY INFORMED ME TO "WAIT" UNTIL THEY WERE READY TO PERFORM THE RECALL. NOW THAT THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, THEY ARE INFORMED ME THAT "I'M ON MY OWN".
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V746000 (ENGINE) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. VISION HYUNDAI OF CANANDAIGUA (2440 ROCHESTER ROAD, RTE 332, CANANDAIGUA, NY 14424) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I GOT THE OIL CHANGED ON MY 2016 SONATA. THE MECHANIC THAT CHANGED MY OIL TOLD ME THE ENGINE WAS LOW ON OIL WHEN HE CHANGED THE OIL. A WEEK LATER I CHECKED THE OIL TO MAKE SURE THE OIL LEVEL WAS GOOD STILL. I HAD TO ADD THREE QUARTS OF OIL TO THE VEHICLE. THE NEXT WEEK MY WIFE COMPLAINED ABOUT A WEIRD SMELL COMING FROM THE CAR. I CHECKED THE OIL AGAIN AND THE ENGINE OIL WAS LOW AGAIN. I ADDED THREE QUARTS OF OIL ONCE AGAIN. THE SONATA IS DRIVEN IN THE CITY WITH ALOT OF STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. NOT ONE TIME DID THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON TO WARN US OF LOW OIL. ADDITIONALLY, WE NEVER OBSERVED ANY OIL SPOTS IN THE DRIVEWAY FROM LEAKING OIL. NOW WE CONTINUE TO SMELL THE WEIRD ODOR AND I HAVE TO ADD OIL TO THE CAR EVERY...
WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR I SEE YELLOW LIGHT IN DASHBOARD I CHECK THAT IN HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY SAID YOUR CAR HAS PROBLEMS IN CVVT OR P0011
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN A WARNING SHOWED UP ON MY VEHICLE. THE WARNING MESSAGE SAID: CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM, TURN OFF ENGINE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON RIGHT AWAY AND ANOTHER LIKE SHAPED IN A TRIANGLE FORM WITH HEV WRITTEN INSIDE OF IT CAME ON AS WELL. I PULLED ASIDE AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND CALL HYUNDAI. I WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE A REMEDY FOR THE ENGINE RECALL YET, AND THEY ASKED ME FOR $9444 TO FIX THE PROBLEM IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE THE RECALL ON THE ENGINE.
VCM MOTOR KNOCK SENSOR P126 ERROR
ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISE FROM ENGINE, VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ENTERING A DRIVEWAY, WE BELIEVE THIS HAS BEEN THE ISSUE FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS AND THE DEALER COULD NEVER FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM, STATED IT WAS THE BATTERY WE REPLACED IT, STILL SAME ISSUE, NOW THE VEHICLE SOUNDS LIKE A TRACTOR DUE TO THE ROD BEARINGS
ENGINE OIL IS NOT LEAKING BUT MY CAR KEEPS NEEDING OIL AND THE LIGHT THAT SHOULD BE NOTIFYING ME THAT CAR NEEDS OIL IS NOT NOTIFYING ME. I GOT OIL CHANGED JANUARY 11 CHECKED CAR IN A WEEK I HAD NO OIL AT ALL, CHECKED TODAY NO OIL AGAIN, WHAT DO I DO, THIS IS NOT COOL AT ALL I'M STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS VEHICLE.
AT ABOUT 75,000 MILES MY 2016 SONATA LIMITED 2.4L STARTED NEEDING OIL ADDED BETWEEN REGULAR OIL CHANGES (ALL MILEAGE AND MAINTENANCE BY ONE DRIVER). THE VEHICLE IS NOW 85,000 MILES AND I AM ADDING 2 QTS. THERE ARE NO LEAKS FROM THE ENGINE SO IT MUST BE BURNING THROUGH THE EXHAUST, WHICH CAN'T BE GOOD FOR THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM AND ANY FUTURE SMOG CHECK - OR THE ENVIRONMENT. THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON WHEN THE OIL IS LOW. THIS COULD RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE ALSO EXPERIENCES ENGINE KNOCKING AND HESITATING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM 30MPH. THIS HAS BEEN A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, WHICH IS ALMOST ALL OF MY DRIVING.
MILEAGE APPROX 68,000 WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES, THE ENGINE MADE LOUD CLANKING SOUNDS UPON STARTUP. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHERE DIAGNOSIS WAS CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS WEARING PREMATURELY DESPITE SUFFICIENT OIL IN RESERVOIR. CAR HAS BEEN AT VAN NUYS, CA HUNDYAI DEALER SINCE EARLY NOVEMBER 2020. IN EARLY DECEMBER, HUNDYAI POSTED A RECALL 198 WHICH SPECIFIED CONNECTING ROD BEARING WEARING PREMATURELY ON THEIR "SAFETY RECALLS AND SERVICE CAMPAIGNS" WEBSITE PAGE. HOWEVER, MY VIN NUMBER REFERENCES NO RECALLS. MEANWHILE, THE LONG BLOCK ENGINE IN MY MODEL IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE OR MANUFACTURED. A SHORT BLOCK WOULD HAVE TO BE ADAPTED. HUNDYAI OFFERED A 75% OF REPAIR "GOOD WILL" PAYMENT, BUT THAT WAS BEFORE THEIR ADMISSION OF PROBLEMS WITH THE CONNECTING RODS. I NOTICE ON YOUR SITE THAT OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I'VE HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR TWELVE WEEKS WITH NO END IN SIGHT....
