Our engine has seized up according to our mechanic. They replaced the gasket on the oil pan and found metal shavings. Then just a week later the engine seized up. We had the dealer look at at back in 2017 and they only did a software update. Does this qualify for the engine recall?
On Sat 8/28/21, while driving, Without any warning or engine lights, the engine stopped running while I was driving on the road at 45 mph. I was able to pull over safely and the car would not restart. I had it towed to a nearby auto shop, the diagnostic shows fuel pump not turning on. I've had this car for 14 months with no issues until now. I could've been injured or crashed had I been on an interstate. It will need to be towed again to a dealership for fuel pump replacement. I've lost wages due to this incident and no idea how to pay for this costly repair.
I was driving and my vehicle started cutting out. When I hit the accelerator, the vehicle hesitated and did not want to go, I had the gas pedal push down to the floor, it eventually kicked in. I traveled a short distance and then it did the same thing, almost coming to a stop. The engine started making a rattling-banging noise and then the Malfunction indicator light came on.I was at a busy intersection and proceeded to try to make a left turn to get out of traffic and to the Dobbs repair shop across the street. As I attempted to Cross the two lanes of oncoming traffic my vehicle stalled and shut completely down. The oncoming traffic had to stop in order to avoid striking my vehicle. My vehicle was stalled blocking both oncoming lanes of traffic. I put the vehicle into “Park” and restarted it by hitting the automatic...

When accelerating to 65 mph, the check engine light came on, and the vehicle stopped accelerating. Took the vehicle in to a mechanic, who stated there was poor acceleration at high RPM's and the car had jerking symptoms during hard throttle. For the engine diagnosis there was a fault code for the knock sensor found. Very low oil levels were in crankcase, no additional fault codes found, abnormal noises. Signs of internal engine problem low oil pressure suspected, no apparent lubricant to upper part of the engine. Recommended replacing the engine. The mechanic estimated the car was also losing oil faster than it should've. Prior to this incident occuring, the car has been regularly maintenanced at the dealership. Car was taken in to an independent mechanic to be looked at because dealership service repair did not have an opening for 2 weeks to look at the car. The lower acceleration...

After making a knocking noise for a few miles, the engine seized and the car completely stalled. I had to coast through traffic to stop on the side of the road. Would not start again. While driving on the Mass pike my engine quit and decelerated without warning resulting in my wife and I barely making it off the road without causing an accident. There is a known flaw with this model 2013 Hyundai Sonata which caused a recall on Jan. 22,2021 that I had not received a notice on. That lack of notice could have easily caused our death that day. The dealer that has the car said the motor needs to be replaced. All owners of Hyundai Theta engines driven vehicles should be made aware before someone dies.

Check engine light began flashing and my 2013 Hyundai Sonata went into "limp" mode whiIe my wife was driving on the interstate. In "limp" mode it made it difficult and dangerous for her to exit the highway nearly being involved in a crash. She then "Limped" her way home. I checked the code with a diagnostic tool and a P1326 Knock Sensor Detection System code was returned. We took the vehicle to our local Hyundai dealer who reports the engine needs replaced which is part of Hyundai's recall/ campaign 17V226000. After the dealer trying on our behalf for several weeks to have the manufacturer replace the engine, the manufacturer now refuses to replace it. This is the second Hyundai I've had the engine fail on. The first one in a 2014 Sante Fe, the motor completely locked up. So what am I to do drive this one till the motor...

My 2013 Hyundai Sonata has been declared totaled by my auto insurance company and "unsafe to drive" by Hyundai Corporation. There is a case number associated with my car at Hyundai. While driving down the street my engine begins smoking and everything shuts off. I was scared and uncertain of what was happening. I had to dodge cars to get off the road. I have supplied more than 15 pages of maintenance records, Which has proven I have taken care of my car. The engine has locked. The first representative stated Hyundai Corporate will pay for repairs - a new engine. The second representative stated only if I had a warranty will they assist me. I believe I'm getting the run around.
Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 2013 - computer giving message " Check Charging System " while on the highway speed drops to 40 mpg. I had to stop the car on the roadside .. Hyundai dealer are not helpful. You go to them they just want to charge us $400 for diagnostic test. last week, Hyundai dealer told my car problem is with engine belt and tensioner assembly and I charged $900. but it did not fix the issue. I am not sure if above part was really needed to replaced, now the message on charging system and engine safety ( picture attached ) is too frequent. AFTER COASTING DOWN FLYOVER I PULLED TO THE RIGHT, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND IT STARTED UP FINE, I DROVE OFF THE BELTWAY TO THE FEEDER/SERVICE ROAD AND THIS HAPPENED ONCE MORE. I PULLED INTO PARKING LOT AND WAS ABLE TO PUT IN PARK AND START WITH NO ISSUE. NEITHER TIME DID I EVER SEE A CONSTANT WARNING LIGHT OF ANY KIND ON MY DASH. THE CAR HAS 99K MILES AND I AM THE ONLY OWNER, TAKEN TO DEALER 95 PERCENT OF TIME FOR MAINTENANCE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET, I RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION THAT MY CAR ESSENTIALLY WAS NO LONGER CHARGER AND WOULD CUT OFF. I WAS PROMPTED TO PULL OVER AND STOP THE CAR. I CUT THE CAR OFF.
