The driver-side power sliding door latch, motor and cable system on my 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite failed. Honda performed Recall A88 (sliding door handle cable repair) in 2021. After this repair the door began intermittently failing to close fully and would close about 80% before the sensor triggered it to reopen. This continued until this week when the door suddenly stopped latching completely. The automatic door buttons no longer work and the door can only be moved manually. I believe my vehicle should also be included in recalls Z33 and O36 addressing sliding door latch failures affecting similar 2019 Odyssey vehicles. The failed components are available for inspection upon request. This defect creates a serious passenger safety hazard. Because the door will not latch, it opens while driving. The automatic function does not work and the door can be moved manually but will not latch. This creates risk of passenger...

Reporting a failure of Safety Recall 23-046 / NHTSA Campaign 23V431000 on US vehicle. Post-recall 'remedy,' the vehicle suffers with the same MOST Network error and from severe parasitic battery drain as described in Honda Service Bulletin 23-061. This led to a total electrical failure and vehicle grounding in -24°C temperatures. This systemic MOST Bus network defect was previously the subject of the Conti v. American Honda (2:19-cv-02160) settlement. The vehicle is currently grounded at a dealership in Canada, and Honda Canada refuses to acknowledge the failure of the recall remedy or the resulting consequential damages (battery/starter failure). I am filing this to report an ineffective recall remedy on a US-certified vehicle. I have tried establishing contact with Honda US however there has been no response from them

The computer system for the sliding doors and back hatch do not work properly. They will occasionally stop working or will stop mid-open or close. In addition, on three separate occasions the sensors did not work. One time the back hatch started to close while I was getting something out of the trunk. It did not sense by body and would not stop. I tried to stop it physically but the hatch continued to close. If I had not gotten out of the way, it would have crushed me. This happened to my husband on a separate occasion as well. He is athletic - [XXX} and [XXX] and was pushing up with all of his strength and the hatch continued to close on him before he had to jump out of the way. On the third occasion - the sliding side door started to close on my [XXX] as I...

**Vehicle:** 2019 Honda Odyssey **Components Affected:** Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Departure, Adaptive Cruise Control, Braking System, Exterior Lighting, Electrical System, Instrument Cluster **Complaint Summary:** Multiple safety systems on my 2019 Honda Odyssey have simultaneously failed, including LKAS, ACC, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Auto High-Beam Headlights, and other driver-assist features. The dashboard displays warnings for nearly every safety-related system, and the vehicle disables these features without warning. **Detailed Description of the Problem:** Whenever I start my vehicle, multiple error messages are displayed related to the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation, Auto Headlights, and other safety features. These warnings appear together and persist even after restarting the vehicle. Apparently, this issue is widespread among 2018–2020 Honda Odyssey owners, with many reporting the same cluster of system failures. The problem appears to be related to a malfunction in the vehicle’s electrical...

As I was driving the car computer showed overheating, brake failure, transmission failure and the car started shaking and the engine died. I had the car towed by triple AAA to a auto repair shop, but the next day when they went to fix the problem could not replicate it.

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious and recurring safety issue with my Honda Odyssey involving the camera system. Multiple warning messages and fault codes appeared on the dashboard simultaneously, including: -Collision Mitigation System Problem -Adaptive Cruise Control Problem -Lane Keep Assist Problem -Auto High Beam Problem These systems are all disabled. This failure occurred without warning and immediately compromised several critical driver-assistance and safety features. We have serviced at Honda dealerships and they said the only fix is a new $1500 camera (but the camera still works). Despite this, no recall has been issued. We have owned Honda vehicles for decades and never had these type of issues. A recall needs to be announced and owners allowed a fix at no charge. The transmission warning lights are also coming on intermittently and we paid to have Honda diagnose. The transmission is fine they said. Please help.

TAILGATE MALFUNCTION - unable to open and close tailgate. Warning message on dash states - TAILGATE POWER FAILURE

Vehicle was driving normally down the highway then proceeded to shutdown without warning. Suddenly all of the trouble Lights appeared indicatinging engine, transmission, hill assist etc cut on without warning. The van would not drive above 55 mph when turned back on.

Power Tailgate Problem is going off repeatedly while car is on. Power tailgate does not open with remote or button inside car. There seems to be water leaking in tailgate seams. The constant beeping of problem popping up is startling and distracting to driver.

The SRS airbag fault has been popping up for a while on the van. I went to my local dealership to get this fixed. $1,500 later they tell me they fixed an airbag harness and the problem should be good to go. A week later the fault appears again. I feel like they’re just throwing parts at the van to fix this legitimate safety concern. Now they want to charge us $3,000 to fix another harness. For this being a safety concern and have been told my air bags may not be deploy in a crash, the dealership and Honda isn’t taking this situation serious.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral as indicated by the gear shift indicator light. The contact was able to coast to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted, and the vehicle was unable to shift into drive. The Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Collision Mitigation System, Road Departure System, and Transmission Fault Detected messages were displayed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the Transmission Control Unit. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V299000 (Power Train, Electrical System), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 133,000.

I am the original owner of this vehicle and have performed all regular maintenance on schedule. It is our primary family vehicle and now over 120,000 miles. Since purchasing it new in 2018, the fuse for the horn has blown out several times each year. Most recently, the horn has stopped working, but the fuse remains intact. I am at a loss as to how to repair without taking apart the steering wheel which could damage the airbag. This is a serious safety issue as the horn is necessary to avoid accidents. I have spoken to the service department at my dealer and they are unaware of any recalls affecting the horn.

My engine lights started flashing. I was stranded with my children. Had to coast into a nearby gas station. I’m told it’s a failed monocular camera causing all of it. When I google that it looks like it has happened to SO MANY people! A recall needs to happen.

Read Driver side power sliding door, got stuck halfway open. I've had this happen on the passenger side as well, but after turning the car off, putting power doors to manual, and rocking it back and forth, I got it fixed no problem and ended up having to replace a bump sensor on the door and it resolved. I thought that's what was going on when it happened to my driver side door as well. However after I turned the car off, and turned the doors to manual it still wouldn't close. I turned them back to automatic, turned the car back on, and the door proceeded to start going back, it rocked violently then broke the rear window and before stopping again. I read this track roller has been a problem for MANY users of this van and in some cases the entire door has fallen off because of...

The forward facing camera has failed. A myriad of systems are dependent upon functionality of camera including collision mitigation braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, cruise control, and automatic lighting and high beams. The failure also prompts a transmission system failure, though it's unclear how/why that system would be related. All issues are prompted by warning lights on the dash and the systems are inoperable. Research of the issue suggests it's a common failure across Odyssey and CR-V models with front-facing cameras and related safety systems.

While traveling in my 2019 Honda Odyssey (40,000 mile) the vehicle completely shut off and placed itself into neutral. The warning lights for emissions system problem, brake problem, and parking assist problem lit up on the dashboard. The vehicle went into neutral and would not allow me to drive at all. Then the vehicle shut off all within 30 seconds. The vehicle would then not restart and now i have to get the vehicle towed to the Honda Service Department. After looking through other complaints there is a known recall for manufacturer defected fuel injectors for my year model odyssey but does not appear when i search for recalls. This was an insanely dangerous situation here in Oahu where the traffic is very bad. The vehicle gave no warning or check engine light and we have completed every service for the vehicle. The vehicle just randomly completely shut off and...

On our 2019 Honda Odyssey the passenger sliding door is failing to latch closed and stay closed or locked. The door is popped out in the back because the latch mechanism will not engage and electronically lock as part of the normal closing sequence like the other door. From what I can tell, this is the same issue reported in Service Bulletin 18-128, however when I called Honda about it, they said my VIN was not included in that recall. I am concerned because it seems like the same problem and it creates an unsafe situation where the door is not fully latching, even when manually closing the door and trying to lock it. I can hear excessive noise from that side of the vehicle, and the warning message flashed saying there is an issue with the Right Side Sliding door, and the dome lights come on with an audible...

While accelerating from a complete stop at a red light, immediately after refueling, the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion power and forced itself into Neutral without any driver input. The dashboard lit up with numerous system warnings at once, including: •Emissions System Problem •Brake System Problem •ABS Problem •Brake Hold System Problem •Electric Parking Brake Problem •Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem The engine won't start, leaving me stranded in the middle of an active intersection. I attempted to restart the vehicle multiple times with no success. Police responded to the scene, confirmed the vehicle could not be driven, and a tow truck transported it to a nearby Honda dealership. The tow truck driver suspected an alternator failure, but the dealer’s inspection the next day could not reproduce the issue. They reported that the alternator and battery “tested fine” and that no trouble codes were stored in the ECU. No repairs...

Sometimes the door locks will not lock, an obvious safety issue. I'm certain all the doors are closed and contacts are clean. I'm guessing a flakey relay because it doesn't happen a lot, perhaps 8 times in the past 12 months. I reported it to Honda America but they said the dealer has to verify it and the dealer has been unable to reproduce it.

While driving, infotainment screen went black and audio died. Restarting car did not solve the problem. Dealer pulled and reinstalled a fuse which "fixed" the problem but said it was a known problem and could recur. It has been several years since it has happened but I figured I'd report it since some car settings are only available through the infotainment system.

Not sure if this is the right complaint form, but we attempted to have a service center address 2 recalls on our vehicle and they would not perform them and would not provide a reason why the recalls were not addressed. The service center is AutoNation Honda in Westminster CO [XXX] ). We dropped our vehicle off on 7/24 for an oil change and to address the recalls. They said the work was complete on Monday 7/28 but would not provide an invoice of work completed. I've attempted to contact the service center by text and phone calls and they are not responsive. I contacted corporate Honda and they confirmed that the recalls have not been addressed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

After two months of sitting outside in the Arizona Sun, the transmission was replaced on my 2019 Honda Odyssey. A day after picking it up all of the sensors came on. I have been informed that it’s an internal failure with the ADAS camera that’s housed in the windshield. After a brief web search, this seems to be a common issue related to electrical issues with the car. Since the electrical was connected and disconnected during the transmission replacement begs to reason that there was something faulty about this camera that didn’t make its way through the reset.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that whenever it rained, water was leaking into the vehicle and caused the rear door circuit board and power module to short circuit. The contact stated that the rear door was inoperable. The contact stated that the failure was an ongoing issue which started a year after purchasing the vehicle new. The contact stated that whenever it rained the rear door failed to function normally. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the same dealer several times and the dealer was unable to duplicate or determine the cause of the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the same dealer for the recent failure. The dealer diagnosed that water had entered the vehicle from the roof and had accumulated in the rear door near the electrical circuits. The dealer determined that the rear door power module...

Upon coming to a complete stop on the freeway, the idle engine feature stopped the engine. Upon letting go of the gas, the engine wouldn't restart and the electrical systems in the car malfunctioned showing a restart of the car would be needed. After trying to restart the car, the engine wouldn't turn over. After pushing the off button and starting the car again, it finally restarted. This created a hazardous situation as there was the potential for the car behind us to rear end us since we were at a complete stop on the freeway. After the software update, this happened again at a right turn on a local street.

Majority of the time while driving you can hear static popping noises from the speakers. Sometimes it will degrade to not having any audio via radio, res, or phone connection. When it is in this state if placed in reverse, the backup camera will not function or display on infotainment screen.

The automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning will occasionally go off when there are no vehicles or obstructions in the way. It will often cause the vehicle to brake and make the driver act to keep the vehicle in lane or from another vehicle from rear ending you.

The lkas and several other lights are on in the vehicle and no one has been able to provide any answers as to why. Nor can the problem be fixed. There is also a problem with the transmission. Upon acceleration there is a hesitation that the car will not engage

2019 Honda Odyssey - the power tailgate stopped working. First I saw a tailgate malfunction warning in the dashboard. I pulled over to make sure the tailgate was closed all the way. It opened and closed. By the time I got home, it couldn’t open or close at all. I called two local dealers and they seemed hesitant to work on it. The only way to open the tailgate is with the manual emergency latch.

Power Tailgate failure. The power tailgate no longer opens and closes. There seems to be no cause for this. I have read, however, on several forums that this is a manufacturing defect and that rainwater is getting through the seal to damage the control motor. I cannot open the tailgate from outside the vehicle. This is a safety concern. There were no warnings leading up to this. I called my local Honda dealer to find out if there were any safety recalls, but there were none. I think there should be--this vehicle is only 6 years old.

My 2019 Honda Odyssey’s power liftgate control model failed due to water intrusion. My liftgate started to open and close while I was driving, would close on me while loading/unloading the trunk, and would also open while parked in parking lots nearly hitting passing vehicles. It is truly a huge safety concern. Once the old module was out, I found extensive corrosion and rust on the module and its housing. As well, the entire bracket inside of the vehicle is rusted. There appears to be a defect in the manufacturers body seams that is allowing water to enter.
#11662499 |
My tailgate originally would not open and now the vehicle is inoperable. This was caused by a leak through the roof, where Honda failed to properly seal a seam, causing water to get onto the trunk control module and damage it. I see online this is happening with almost all Gen 5 Honda Odysseys and is clearly a manufacturing defect, causing thousands in repairs for each.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the messages "Emissions system Failure", "Brake System Failure", "Brake Hose System Failure", "Power Steering Failure", "EPS Failure, "Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Failure", "Hill Start Assist Failure" and "Road Departure Mitigation System Failure" were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was filed. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a vehicle safety complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

On a rainy day, the power tailgate began to malfunction. First it would open part of the way, beep, and then close, then when trying again it would go move back and forth on its own, and then close. Trying it again later, however, it completely stopped working to the point where we had to manually force it to open and close, only the latch would work. The heads-up display showed power tailgate error. On my attempt to troubleshoot I found that water had leaked into the area behind the driver's-side rear inside body panel where the rear control module and fuse housing is located, which I noticed was covered with water. I was able to partially dry this. Later on the rear tailgate started working again briefly but the problem returned and now it no longer works. I contacted Honda USA about this issue and they told me there...

I am filing this complaint to report a recurring and costly defect involving the starter system in my Honda Odyssey. The vehicle has been experiencing starter failures every few months, requiring repeated repairs and part replacements. Each time the starter fails, I am left stranded without warning, creating a serious safety hazard, especially when the failure occurs in public areas, on road shoulders, or during emergencies. The defect has caused extreme inconvenience, financial strain, and raised serious concerns about the reliability and safety of this vehicle. Given the frequency and cost of the problem, I believe this constitutes a systemic defect that should be investigated for a potential recall or manufacturer responsibility. I urge the NHTSA to thoroughly investigate this matter to determine whether this ongoing issue with the starter poses a broader public safety concern and qualifies for regulatory or enforcement action.

Shortly after owning we started noticing sporadic jerks between 24-29 mph that felt like a hard up shift. We immediately brought to our local Honda dealership where they performed a software update. We were told that the vehicle struggles to shift while under load. Recently our van was making a whining noise and seemed hard/delay to accelerate in drive as well as reverse. Almost felt like I was in neutral, but was not. NO warning lights were on, but something was not right so I went home. The next day it would not start and lit up every warning light. We had it towed to the dealership and was told battery was shot so they replaced. On way home it was still hard to accelerate so we brought it right back to the dealership and have been told a new transmission is needed. We have had all maintenance done at...

My power liftgate ceased to open or close via any electronic means (button on dash, button on remote, tailgate left button on back of vehicle). The tailgate control module in the rear driver side panel was full of water when it was removed. The circuit board back side was covered with moisture damage which has shorted out the board.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the low oil pressure warning light and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that messages indicating Emissions, Lane Assist failures, and other unknown messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the vehicle had passed inspection, and the failure could be a computer software failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V439000 (Back Over Prevention, Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. Additionally, the contact stated that the passenger's side and driver's side sliding doors had failed to open and close as intended while engaging the automatic power door switch. The contact stated that the sliding doors were able to close manually for a while. The contact stated that upon closing the sliding doors manually, a chime indicating...

Water intrusion from driver side roof rack seal caused water entering the vehicle. Trunk underneath carpet wet. Power Tailgate stopped working and it was identified that the ECU (control unit) part number 74970-THR-A12 located behind the rear driver side trunk trim got water into it and corroded. Need to be replaced. Roof need to be re sealed. Further damage/corrosion from water which already was entering the vehicle unknown at this point.

I am reporting a serious safety concern regarding my 2019 Honda Odyssey, which poses a risk to me and my family. The issue is intermittent, making it difficult for the dealership to replicate. The problem began when the Collision Mitigation System warning light flashed, indicating a system malfunction. This was followed by multiple warning lights appearing on the dashboard. At times, the entire dashboard and screen go blank, and all gauges shut off while I am driving on both city streets and highways-though the engine remains on. Additionally, I have experienced the following issues: The steering wheel stiffness when making turns, the vehicle hesitates to accelerate after being at a stop. In December 2023, I took the vehicle to a Honda Dealership, where they recommended replacing the front camera/sensor (behind the rear mirror) at a cost of over $1,500.00. I proceeded with the repair in December 2023. However, the same...

Water was leaking inside of the back driver side corner of the tailgate. The water built up inside of the PTG module and ruined it. The tailgate lock suddenly failed and opened up while driving down the road. The warning lamp illuminated that said tailgate error. No wreck just a sudden fail. i have video of the module pouring water out of it as i removed it from the vehicle.

The camera sensor in my 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L failed due to excessive overheating. The sensor reached extreme temperatures, leading to a complete system failure. As a result, the vehicle became inoperable. The failed component is no longer available for inspection as I was forced to purchase a replacement due to the vehicle’s dependency on it for proper function. The failure of the camera sensor created multiple dangerous situations: Loss of vehicle control: The vehicle lost acceleration functionality and automatically shut itself down, which could have led to a crash in traffic.Dashboard warning lights: All dashboard lights illuminated simultaneously, indicating a severe system failure. Fire hazard: The sensor was emitting extreme heat, creating a potential fire risk due to overheating electronics. Exposure to the elements: The sensor’s placement in direct sunlight likely contributed to its overheating, further increasing the risk of failure. Mandatory dependency on the sensor: The vehicle was...

Several warning lights turned on. Emissions system problem, transmission system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (EPS) problem, vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem, hill start assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot info system problem. Steering becomes really difficult, reverse and forward gives out and really hard to control vehicle. Not able to accelerate. This problem happened out of nowhere no issues prior to the lights coming on. This has been happening for the past 8 months i have to unplug the battery so the codes erase and the car starts driving normal then 2 days later they come back and car wont accelerate or would have hard time picking up speed I researched and other owners of similar vehicles have the same issues as mines.
#11646978 |
The power tailgate is not working, no fuse is blown, control model needs to be replaced, likely due to leak in back of car (happened after heavy rain). Looks like many owners of the same car have experienced the same issue.
#11647045 |
When starting my van, I got warnings for ACC, Lane Departure, and Collision Mitigation stating that the issues were broken. I received error code U3000-49 at the Honda repair dealer which stated the multipurpose camera no longer works. In doing my research, it appears this is a known issue that Honda is not taking responsibility for and charging $1,500 to $2,000 to repair. They state the car works fine other than having none of those safety features working.
