2019 HONDA ODYSSEY Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Problems

Front camera appears to have gone out in 2025. All safety features inoperable and constant flashing of warnings making it impossible to determine if anything is actually wrong. Collision mitigation failure, blind spot failure, transmission failure, brake system failure, blind spot. Those control etc. Honda has confirmed its issue with front camera.

Failure of camera unit leading to all safety systems requiring it becoming non operative. Well known issue and widely reported.

The front camera that is responsible for ADAS suddenly died and it is very vurnerable to heat. The unit gets very hot and it gets hot quickly. The lifespan of the unit is very short and the dealer is asking for $2000 to replace it like they have seen this pretty often.

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious and recurring safety issue with my Honda Odyssey involving the front monocular camera system. While driving with my family, my vehicle experienced a sudden and total failure of the front-facing multi-purpose camera mounted behind the windshield. This component is the primary sensor for the Honda Sensing suite. The failure caused multiple critical safety systems to become inoperative simultaneously, including the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). The camera in the front windshield went out. It has caused NONE of my safety features to work. Honda is charging $2,500 for the part and labor. It's ridiculous how many people are having the SAME issue. My van didn't even have 52,000 miles. Honda needs to fix this issue

Honda sensing stopped working and threw a bunch of errors about ACC, LKAS, Collision mitigation, auto high beam error, forward collision, lane keep. Apparently the camera had an internal fault without any prior warning. Also vehicle’s timing belt tensioner already deemed leaking at just 75,000 miles, well below the 100k replacement point, despite regular checks and maintenance at Honda dealers. Front suspension leaking, honda replaced only 1, and declined to replace both, as recommended by dealer mechanic. If i did not have honda care, i would be left with a very large repair bill for critical components of the drivability and safety of the vehicle. This is not acceptable.

Driving on the interstate with cruise control. All of a sudden the car braked (no one in front within eye shot) and cruise control stopped. I had to tap the brake manually then accelerator to get the car back under my control. Ever since then I get ACC, LKAS and other warnings when the car starts up. It seems like the front camera catastrophically failed while driving and almost caused the car to come to a complete stop on the interstate. It was very scary.

Suddenly, all the Lane Keeping Assistance, Auto Beam Headlights, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control came on. When I took it in for diagnosis, they claim that the Camera Assembly Monocular no longer works. From searching forums, it appears this is a known issue. This is a safety issue and should be recalled.

The monocular camera went out unexpectedly for my van back in March 2025. I have multiple failure warnings that all of the van's safety features were disabled. The van had around 80k miles at the time and Honda dealer quoted me well over $2000 dollars to rectify the problem. Looked through forums and online groups and realized it was a very common issues with late model Hondas. Seems like the internal electronic is cooked by heat over time and caused the camera module to go out prematurely. I ended up buying a module from Honda and had an independent shop to calibrate it for the van which still cost me well over $1000 out of pocket.

The front multifunction windshield camera module failed due to a hot day. The cruise control, lane departure, collision mitigation, and other advanced driver safety assists are completely non functional. These are key safety features for ourselves and others. It has been confirmed by technicians, and many other owners of vehicle this model and generation with the same problem. It hasn't been inspected by the manufacturer. Many warning indications came on during startup and all the systems stated above stopped working. They haven't worked sense. This same thing happened about 2 years ago on this same van. This is a very common issue with this vehicle model and year. The manufacturer needs to issue recall for it.

Multipurpose Camera failed at 110000 miles. This causes deactivation of the Lane Keep Assist, Collision Mitigation, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam and cruise control systems. The primary advanced safety features of the vehicle are disabled due to this issue. Issue has been reported to the dealer and they state that it is a common issue, but no recall or TSB for it yet. Warning lights come up on the dash every time the vehicle is turned on.

After we took the car in all of a sudden randomly these warning lights will come on and my D for drive keeps flashing. LKAS, ACC, Collision Avoidance, Auto High Beam Problem And brake system warning. These errors have shown up before sporadically and the dealer, DCH Honda of Oxnard was notified April 27, 2023. They could not replicate and did not respond in writing that something was wrong. My Honda Odyssey does phantom braking once in a while. There are no vehicle in front of it but it still brakes. One time it brake till full stop from 40 miles per hour.

Vehicle has code U3000-49 in the MCU module. Vehicle has 5 warning lights and multiple messages that keeping popping up on the cluster.

Multi-Purpose camera unit internal electronic failure. Front-facing camera mounted in the windshield. This caused several warning lights including the brake system warning light to illuminate. This failure caused the automatic brake system and other safety features in the car to turn off. The vehicle has been inspected by a mechanic. There were no other warning signs.

The Camera Assembly Monocular (part 36160-THR-A81) is shorted out causing multiple safety system failures from collision warning, lane departure, emergency braking, etc. Confirmed by local mechanic and then Honda dealer (Merrillville, IN). I still have the part, not yet replaced. Quoted $2K to replace. While driving multiple warning lamps went off and cruise control disengaged. No signs of issues prior to this occurrence. The van's LKAS camera has malfunctioned. There is also a brake system failure light active on the digital dashboard. The failure of the LKAS camera has affected numerous Honda vehicles, not only the Odyssey, and across many model years. The part is available for inspection; #36160-THR-A81. The failure of the component has disabled key federally required safety features of the vehicle. The problem has been inspected by a Honda dealership. The repair cost is over $2,000. No warning lights nor error messages appeared before the failure of the component. It's demise presented as an intermittent error for 2 months before becoming permanent.

Multipurpose camera is defective. The camera is available for inspection upon request. A number of safety features do not work when this camera is not operational, including forward collision warning and lane departure warning. Honda dealership performed a diagnostic and confirmed it needs to be replaced. No other parties have inspected the camera. There were no warning messages prior to the camera failing, only after it had failed. This appears to be a common issue affecting many owners of this vehicle.

My radar and multipurpose camera need replacement

I had 5 warnings appeared in the dashboard : -Adaptive cruise control problem -Lane keeping assist problem -Collision mitigation system problem -road departure mitigation system problem -Auto high-beam problem and the Amber Brake system light came on permanently Searched the problem on Google and Reddit found many Honda Odyssey owners having the same problem which is a safety issue some people took their vehicle to the dealership and have been told that the windshield camera is causing these warnings to appear because the camera is overheated by the sun, and the manufacturer did not make the camera well ventilated to dissipate heat caused by sun light

While driving on the interstate (60-70 mph) in very light traffic (2 cars in view), there was a beep from the consol and the following errors flashed: Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance Warning. At the same time as the beep the car felt like the breaks were being slammed on for 2 second. There was no car within 30 feet of us. and we went from ~70 mph to 40. This startled us. Ever sense then the errors would randomly come on and the vehicle will break suddenly, leading to very unsafe moments.

The automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning will occasionally go off when there are no vehicles or obstructions in the way. It will often cause the vehicle to brake and make the driver act to keep the vehicle in lane or from another vehicle from rear ending you.

Warning for Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High Beam, Collision Mitigation, and Road Departure all populated at once. The functionality does not work, even regular cruise control without the adaptive feature. There have been many reports of this issue with fixes upwards of $3,000. Appears to be a faulty camera. This is a safety issue and should be addressed and recalled.

8/10 times when turning on and driving the vehicle, an error pops up on the dash indicating the LKAS and ACC no longer work. Dealer found the code was U3000-49, they could not get it to clear. Sometimes the car will start without the problem, but then at some point through the drive it will occur and LKAS and cruise control will no longer be avaliable

Warning lights for collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and several additional safety features went on without any triggering incident. Brought to the dealership, where diagnosis is DTC U3000-49 Multipurpose Camera Unit/Millimeter Wave Radar internal electronic failure. Technician advised that this failure often happens after a few years for no apparent reason. Repair is upwards of $4000. Without repair, none of these safety functions operate.

At restaurant on 6/1/25, backed out of parking spot. Drove about 30 ft to parking lot exit. Turned onto side street to go to light and turn on main street. About 3 or 4 car lengths from exit to light. Side street sloped down about 20-30 degrees. Brakes would not stop van. Not sure if brakes slowed down van as going slow. However, brake pedal pushed hard down to floor but did not stop van. If hit gas pedal van would have accelerated and engine raced causing acceleration and more damage. The Brake System warning light is on. With this, it is showing 5 different issue messages when the car is running. I've taken to the dealer and they are saying there is an issue with the multipurpose front camera. My car is on 39,900 miles.

All they come one after eachother on my dashboard. I did some research and a lot of vans 2019 have the sa e issues. My friend van same problem she payed 1900 to replace the camera. Without any notable prior messages or symptoms prior to the failure, on [XXX] after dropping off the kids at school and then turning on my 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L (28,170 miles), the "Brake System" light was on and the following 5 dashboard warning lights/messages turned on: 1) Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, 2) Lane Keeping Assist Problem, 3) Collision Mitigation System Problem, 4) Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, 5) Auto High-Beam Problem. Front camera stopped working, which appears to be a common problem for honda, and deactivated all safety features that rely on camera.

Took the van to the dealership to fix a recall for the fuel pump. A few days later, error messages popped up saying there are problems with the adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation system, lane keep assist system, and brake system, among others. I test drove it from Arcadia to Pasadena on both the freeway and the sidestreets without any problems. We took it back to the dealership who assessed it and told us that the multipurpose camera was bad. It would cost us $2100 to get it fixed. We refused. No one was hurt, however, the dealership told me that there is a safety risk to my family if I did not repair it. Attached is the invoice for the last visit during which the dealership gave us the estimate for replacing the multipurpose camera.

LKAS, ACC, Collision Avoidance, Road Departure, Auto High Beam Problem, and Brake System - all these dash lights come on due to unknown reasons. New battery and terminal connections have good contact. Four safety features are now inoperative and no Cruise Control.

Upon starting the car, multiple alerts came on the dashboard reporting faults with multiple systems. There was no damage to the car, it had been parked safely and appropriately prior to starting. Dealership inspected the issue and reported the camera/sensor system in the windshield behind the rear view mirror is faulty. This faulty camera now causes multiple systems off line as the sensor is no longer reliable. This is a safety issue as this sensor assists with split second support to the driver to prevent collisions, leaving your lane or speed adjustment with cruise control.

Within 6 months of purchase (no accidents or related issues), the car starts firing off a wide range of alerts on the dashboard about failures. These include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), or Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High-beam problem, and Lane Keeping Assist problems. There are MANY reported issues like this online and it’s a clear failure of on Honda’s part to provide working safety features that they advertise.

Dealer states that non OEM glass caused the front camera module to overheat due to overwork, currently broken and needing replacement. The glass that was installed was not EOM but IS made for front facing cameras so this seems very weird and sensitive. The replacement glass was put in two years ago but I am just now having this issue. Again, this doesn't seem to match their reasoning.
