2019 HONDA ODYSSEY Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Problems

Front camera went out which controls most of the safety features of the car.

Adaptive Cruise Control Lane Keeping Assist Road Departure Mitigation System Collision Mitigation System Brake System These systems are all failing to operate. Upon startup of vehicle, the error lights for the above issues alert and systems cannot be utilized. Dealership states this is a known issue & likely requires a complete replacement of Honda Sensing/multipurpose camera/sensors at a cost of approximately $2000.00

2019 Honday Odyssey. Front camera failure is causing subsequent failure of several features to include: front brake assist and crash avoidance, lane keep assist, auto high beam, auto cruise control. Honda denies responsibility or acknowledgment that this is a faulty part and the out of pocket cost of replacement is ~$1500. This is unacceptable for a 5 year car and creates a serious driving hazard.

The warning for these ADAS keeps coming on without any reason

Multipurpose camera facing front on top of windshield works intermittently. 20% of the time it works fine, usually the first drive of the morning when the car is cool. 80% of the time, within 60 seconds upon startup there are 5 bright orange warning lights that come on all related to a malfunction in the multipurpose camera. These are: Adaptive Cruise Control Failure, Collision Mitigation System Failure, Lane Keeping Assistance Problem, Road Departure Assistance Problem, Auto-High Beam failure. Most concerning is that the “BRAKE SYSTEM” light stays illuminated orange after these warnings come on. All the controls in my Van (cruise control, lane assist, auto break etc...) stopped working. I took the van multiple times and the reason they gave is its possible that the Camera stopped working. I replaced the front windshield with OEM through Insurance. I have a feeling this happened only after the repair. The issue goes away for some reason while driving and comes back again. So its not due to any Camera failures. This seems to be a problem for many Honda Odyssey

Multipurpose camera malfunction.

The adaptive cruise control stopped working while it was on and we were driving. Also the lane keep assist went out at the same time. It appears to be an extremely common issue in this cars with the front sensing camera which is the issue we have.

The vehicles monocular camera assembly is failing and causing all the adas systems to not operate. This is a severe safety issue and is a common problem for Honda vehicles. Honda should be required to recall and replace the faulty camera.

All safety lights are on on the dash. No cruise control. Brake system lane mitigation ,etc. been told it’s possibly camera issues quote from Honda dealer of 2200.00 to hopefully repair. 5 yr old vehicle and they want me to spend that. I can’t afford that.

Out of nowhere... a bunch of warnings lights have appeared and disabled a lot of the safety features on the vehicle. The camera that controls all the advanced driver assistance system fails intermittently. This causes 5 different warnings to come on and all of the safety features bases on this camera to stop working. This is an ongoing issue. An internet search shows that there are multiple Honda vehicles with this problem.

The following message suddenly appeared one day and since then, they kept coming back on every time starting the car: ACC problem, Collision Mitigation Problem, Lake Keep Assist Problem, Auto High Beam Problem, Brake Problem, and sometimes Transmission Problem as well. After research online, many other owners of the same vehicle had the same issue and which may be caused by faulty connector or faulty front camera component for the hardware issue; or software issue which was on the previous recall for the multi-media issue on the Odysseys. My 2019 Honda Odyssey was involved in a total loss car accident recently on Aug 20 2024. The cause was delayed acceleration due to a fuel pump recall by Honda Motor Corp from Dec 2023; and to date they have failed and neglected to provide the part to repair. For over a year I have experienced delayed acceleration issues with this auto. I purchased this auto new from the local dealer in 2019 and have constantly experienced, reported and paid thousands to repair and address transmission and delayed acceleration issues. Now this resulted in my inability to accelerate from a stop position resulting in another vehicle directly crashing into mine. Researching similar issues reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration it appears I'm not alone. In our case - we were in fact "T-boned"

2019 Honda Odyssey - Camera Assembly Monocular Honda (36160-THR-A81) Safety LKA, Collison avoidance Camera failed. Multiple owners report issue with this failing. Our van was parked with system having functioned normally since purchase new. Upon starting vehicle, brake system warning lights turn on, and multiple safetey warning appear on notification screen indicating safety feautres not available. We are not only owner that has this saftey component fail on this model of the Honda Odyssey. Repair parts are in excess of $1400 and only available from dealership that indicates they have replace many of the same parts on other owners vans. Request looking at other submissions of owners experiencing this problem with the saftey feautes of the Van.

5 emergency lights came on at the same time, we went to the Honda dealer and the problem is the front camera, they told us there, for the diagnosis it was $250 dollars and if we want to fix it it would be $1900, I think that Honda should cover that because it is a car with only 30,000 miles, it is a very expensive repair for a car that is not that old.

While driving the car brakes hard when it thinks that it is going to hit another car even though there is not another car around. We have almost been in multiple accidents because of it. When driving down a winding lane it often shakes the wheel although we are not departing lanes. We do not feel safe while driving the car with this safety feature

My car experience a sudden and catastrophic failure of the multipurpose camera, part number HP36160-THR-A81. Many of the safety features of my car are dependent on this part, which given the age and low mileage of my vehicle has obviously failed prematurely. The safety features impacted on my vehicle by this part failure include ACC, LKAS, Collision Mitigation and Road Departure Mitigation Systems. I receive continuous warning lights and alarms while driving the vehicle related to these systems. These warning lights and alarms cannot be stopped. Without these systems working properly the vehicle is not safe. I was told that 8tbwpupd cost roughly $1600 to replace the part necessary for these systems to work.

The multipurpose camera in the front windshield has failed, causing the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and correction, forward collision to fail. Even the non-ACC cruise control is locked out due to the failed camera. Honda will charge ~ $1800 to replace, and I can’t afford that. Problem confirmed by Ian’s of Broken Arrow. They confirmed it was the camera and not the radar unit. The failure of the camera causes a host of persistent dashboard warnings, but none preceded the failure.

The LKAS, ACC, Collision Avoidance, and Auto High Beam has failed on my 2019 Honda Odyssey ex-l. These are all safety features taht no longer work on this vehicle for no apparent reason other than the system failed. It has not been confirmed by a service center, or been inspected by the agencies listed. There were no other warning lights present when the problem first began.

Received several error messages with collision avoidance, braking, lane keeping, front collision avoidance. I took it into the dealership and they quoted me 3k to fix it. Multiple safety system error codes began popping up while driving, transmitted, drive gear "D" on dash was flashing and when I pushed the park shift button it went to neutral for a few seconds before going into park, honda is not sure why error codes won't go away after clearing,

The van suddenly started randomly throwing up a series of 5 different codes, all relating to the forward camera system. It will appear and disappear at random, showing lane keeping assist, forward collision system, adaptive cruise control, automatic dimming headlights and lane departure system failed. There are tons of issues with the car having bad cables/terminals for the rear camera, A/V systems, and SXM antenna, but Honda refuses to admit that the front camera issue is related.

In early December 2023, while driving, I experienced a sudden malfunction in my LKAS system, receiving a notification that it had stopped working without any prior indications. Over the years of owning this vehicle, we've encountered sporadic electrical problems that have led to the car either stalling or needing a jump start. Despite these issues, inspections of the battery have revealed no obvious problems. Additionally, we've had intermittent system warning messages for features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure. These warnings have surfaced and vanished on multiple occasions. The vehicle has never been in an accident or experienced anything beyond normal operating conditions.

There has been no incident. And I hope there is not. But the forward camera that assists in the road departure mitigation, forward collision mitigation and lane keeping assist has failed. Also inoperative is the cruise control, auto dimming headlamps and the brake system light is on. I find it hard to believe that after some of the less critical recalls that have been sent out for this vehicle that they don’t address this very important safety system. The camera alone costs $800 and that doesn’t include the cost of installation and calibration. I have a family of six and we use this van extensively. Car Randomly started giving a failed warning sign that the LKAS system has an error. Took it to dealer and they say that the radar and the camera need to be replaced for 4000$. This is so completely random. It just broke on its own. Trunk is not properly sealed resulting in water getting into the trunk and corroding the tailgate control unit, this issue has been reported online hundreds of times. A week after my trunk flooded during heavy rain my car warning lights for the brake system, lane keep assist and several others lit up and wont work, the lights turn on and off intermittently - again this issue is being reported online by multiple owners. This is a known issue Honda refuses to acknowledge or resolve.

No other mechanical issues were detected by the Honda dealership or an independent Honda certified mechanic.

Over 20 times our van has breaked when it was not needed. This usually happens when going up a hill and turning, or when a car slows but not enough to need to break. In several instances we have almost been rear-ended due to the sudden breaking. We try to turn off the service, but it has to be turned off each time. With the amount of traffic we have in the area, this is very dangerous.

There was no warning display on car today during the incidents. I pressed the breaks and with my foot on the breaks the car accelerates 3 times. I had a car in front of me which is why I stopped but no no one behind me to trigger the car to propel me forward 3 times despite my foot on the brakes. This is second time it does this. I took it in right away to the shop. The first time was a a couple of months before (May 2023) but I had a car behind me so I figured the car took over to avoid a bump in back…but again my foot was on the brakes. I have a CMBS issue. Nothing around that would trigger it just driving through an intersection and the CMBS came on and basically just stopped the car for no reason. I get these "BRAKE" messages mostly when the car in front of me is turning right and the Odyssey doesn't think I slow down enough. I know the car is turning, the Odyssey doesn't. I've also had it come up a couple times while going around a curve, I think it detected the oncoming traffic as being in my lane and it told me to "BRAKE". I have video files to prove from my dash cams but I could not upload these files here. Honda dealer misdiagnosed to replace power distribution module but it did not fixed and I found other Honda vehicles has the same CMBS issue. Hoping you got some resolution. Thanks.

Collision mitigation system problem error keeps appearing randomly on the screen!

GOING 25MPH. STEERING WHEEL SHOOK THEN DASH READ IN BLACK "BRAKE" WITH ORANGE BACKGROUND. VAN BRAKED ON ITS OWN. NEAREST CAR WAS 75 FEET AWAY.

THERE ARE 2 ISSUES, POSSIBLY RELATED. FIRST OF ALL, WARNING FOR COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM APPEARED AND THEN THE DIGITAL DISPLAY WENT BLANK.THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY. IN THE SECOND PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED, A WARNING LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF (TOO QUICKLY TO DETERMINE WHAT IT SAID) AND THEN THE CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL ON IT'S OWN. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION IN BOTH OCCURRENCES.
