TAKATA RECALL, DUE TO RUST THE SWAY BAR BRACKET HAS BROKE FROM SUBFRAME. DIDN'T KNOW IT UNTIL I GOT IT LOOKED AT FOR AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE.
I CAME UP TO A STOP SIGN, THE ENTIRE FRONT AXLE BROKE OFF THE FRAME, I LOST STEERING, BRAKES, HAD TO SLAM IT INTO PARK TO STOP. I ENDED UP ACROSS THE ROAD. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2011 FOR THE AXLE MOUNT AND FORD DECIDED IT ONLY NEEDED A COATING ON IT, 5 SECONDS LATER WE WOULD OF BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND KILLED. I EMAILED FORD AND THEY SAID THE RECALL WAS STILL OPEN, THE FORD DEALER NEVER CLOSED IT, SO THEY WON'T HELP ME. THAT IS BULL, THE COATED IT AND FORGOT TO CLOSE IT OUT, THATS THEIR FAULT, I CAN TAKE PICS IF YOU WANT THEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AXLE WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT OR WELDING. THE AXLE WAS WELDED. A YEAR EARLIER, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE AXLE FRACTURED AND WAS WELDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 192,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V385000 (SUSPENSION). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,000. WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE THE REAR AXLE BROKE; THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE DUE TO CORROSION OF THE REAR AXLE AND POSSIBLY BREAK. IN 2011 THIS VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR RECALL REPAIRS ON THE REAR AXLE. THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99000 MILES ON IT. THE REPAIRS PERFORMED WERE AS FOLLOWS: THEY SPRAYED ANTI CORROSION ON THE AXLE AND PUT TWO SUPPORT BRACKETS ON THE AXLE. THE REAR AXLE CRACKED UNDER THE BRACKET. I BELIEVE THE BRACKET MAY HAVE TRAPPED MORE WATER AND SALT AND MADE IT WORSE. THE BRACKET DID NOT SUPPORT THE AXLE AT ALL. THE AXLE FELL TO THE GROUND AS IF THERE WAS NO BRACKET AT ALL. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 139000 MILES ON IT. I FEEL FORD SHOULD TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR OF THE REAR AXLE. THIS IS MY DAUGHTERS FAMILY VAN. (1) ODI REQUEST FOR INFORMATION REGARDING ENGINEERING ANALYSIS EA10-007 SUB FRAME AND (2) ISSUES OF COMPLIANCE WITH SAFETY RECALL PROCEDURES AND WHAT WE BELIEVE TO BE FRAUDULENT AND ILLEGAL ACTIONS. SPACE IS INADEQUATE BUT WILL TRY TO SUMMARIZE. I WAS RIGJT IN FRONT OF A AUTO REPAIR SHOP WHO ONFORMED ME THE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLE HAD BROKEN. I HAD JUST LEFT MY HOME SO I WAS NO MRE THAN FOUR BLPCKS FROM HOME WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURED.
THE REAR AXLE BROKE WHEN OUR DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT NIGHT. WHEN SHE GOT HOME SHE TOLD US THAT THE VAN WAS NOT HANDLING WELL AT ALL. IT TURNS OUT THE REAR AXLE HAD CRACKED WHICH CAUSED THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL TO PUSH UP INTO THE WHEEL HOUSING AND START RUBBING AGAINST THE WHEEL WELL. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED NEAR OUR HOME AND SHE DIDN'T HAVE MUCH FURTHER TO GO AS IT BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO HANDLE. ALSO LUCKY THE SPEED WAS ONLY ABOUT 30 MPH, BECAUSE I'M NOT SURE IT WOULD HAVE MADE IT SAFELY HOME IF IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGHER SPEED. OUR VAN WAS PART OF A RECALL THAT WAS DONE IN 2011 WHERE THEY INSTALLED BRACKETS/CLAMPS INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE REAR AXLE. THE BREAK HAS OCCURRED RIGHT UNDER THE CLAMPING BRACKET. IT ALSO APPEARS TO BE CRACKED ON THE REAR PASSENGER...
THE REAR AXLE COLLAPSES WHILE DRIVING ON THE FDR DRIVE, NY CITY, THE VAN WAS TOWED TO A SHOP IN BROOKLYN. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE SUBFRAME OF THE REAR AXLE HAS TO REPLACED.THERE WAS A RECALL DONE ON THE VEHICLE IN 2011 FOR THE REAR AXLE BUT AT THE TIME I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM. WHAT EVER FIXED THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE DID NOT WORK CAUSED THE AXLE SUBFRAME BROKE.
