The contact stated that the battery was replaced by an independent mechanic. The contact stated that later the vehicle again would not start and was towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the power steering gear was draining the battery. Power steering stopped working while driving. Could barely turn the wheel. hillside assist, power steering, and ABS lights all came on at the same time. Had it Towed to Davidson Ford in clay ny they said its the Electric rack and pinion gear assembly and it's a common problem with this vehicle. When looking into this issue I noticed there has been issues and recalls on the steering with these cars and other Ford vehicles. They Quoted me 3356.96
The car is making a grinding noise when turning the steering wheel in either direction. Mechanic at Ford dealership service said there is no power steering fluid involved with this type of steering. The internet has many comments from owners that have had the same problem and no recall is shown for this VIN# Owners have reported paying for more than one repair for the same problem. Some have reported paying very expensive charges and the problem returned in a short time. We bought this car for a grandchild who really likes the car and now we are concerned that it is not safe to drive.

My steering assist no longer works. Every turn I make is difficult and and unsafe. This problem occurred with no accidents or anything. I was driving one day and I felt it go away. I noticed there was a recall with this issue on the year of my car, however not under my VIN. I’d like this to be looked into.
The steering wheel just froze when I was driving at 30 miles an hour. I got a message on the display that said "Steering Fault Assist Service required." The service center found that the issue was in the steering rack and the sensors in it.
The car was bought in North America. It has been driving in Belarus, in Minsk for a long time. 12.12.21 I was driving with the children. I heard a crack in the steering rack. This created a threat to the safety of my family. The car began to drive poorly, there was a risk of an accident. turned to an official dealer of Ford Belarus, two mounting bolts of the amplifier were cut off and the steering rack was damaged. They promised to change it for free, but on 01/05/22, they called me and said that a replacement was refused, because my car was not in the revocable Ford company. I am ready to file a lawsuit because I was not warned about this safety fault and could have died with my children in an accident. Thank you.

I purchased the car from Carvana in February of 2021. 2 months after purchase there were issues with the steering. I brought it to a mechanic to find out that the bolts had corroded and were completely sheared off causing the steering gear motor to be seperated from the steering gear. I found that this make and model (and year) of my vehicle is well known for this exact issue and was subject to a recall in august of 2019 (recall number 19V632000) however my VIN is not flagged as having this issue (which it clearly does as i cannot even drive my car now). My car was originally sold in Michigan and according to the carfax has remained in areas where road salt would be an issue for the bolts in question. I JUST BOIGHT THIS CA 10/22/21 FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP, I REALIZED THE CAR HAD ISSUES BY THE 3RD DAY AFTER WHEN THE CAR HAD A FRONT TIRE BLOWOUT AND AFTER I REPAIRED BOTH TIRES ON DRIVERS SIDE I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO TALK TO THEM ABOUT THE ALIGNMENT CAUSE THE CAR WAS PULLING. THE DEALERSHIP HAD THERE AUTOMOTIVE SPECIALIST DRIVE THE VEHIACLE.THE DIAGNOSIS TO MY COMPLAINT WAS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FINE AND WOULD MAKE TO CALIFORNIA AND BACK. ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE CAR WAS GIVING ME ERROR THAT THE CHARGING SYSTEM NEEDED ATTENTION. Driving my 2014 Ford Fusion I lost power steering when making a right hand turn almost causing me to lose control of the vehicle and almost hit a full bus stop. I have heard a number of people that have had the same issue, Ford recalled this for previous model years.
While driving, my steering wheel locked and it felt as if I was driving a vehicle without power steering and it became hard to turn my wheel and two service lights came on; the stability control. It was normal road conditions on a straight road.

While driving my 2014 Ford Fusion SE purchased in Ohio the power steering suddenly went out. This jeopardized the safety of my own children, children playing in my neighborhood, as well as, my own safety when I was left unable to steer the car. An independent mechanic diagnosed the problem. The driving gear was exposed to salt and brine due to the harsh Ohio winters. The sub-quality bolts, used by Ford, corroded and sheered allowing the driving gear to become completely detached. I WAS DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY WITH MY KIDS. WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK UP MID DRIVING AND I COULDNT CONTROL THE WHEEL VERY DANGEROUS. ESPECIALLY HAPPENING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WITH MY CHILDREN ABOARD. WORST COULD HAVE HAPPEN BUT THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO DODGE AN CAR AN SLOW DOWN TO I STOP AN TURN ON HAZZER LIGHTS AND BREAK. I COULDNT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL IT WAS VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE. I was driving and all of a sudden these alerts popped up and my power steering was lost.
I pulled out of my drive way and immediately the dash board lite up saying hill start assist not available, steering assist fault service required. So I backed up to the drive way and the power steering completely stopped working.

The vehicle loses power steering functionality. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering) however, the failure persisted. The contact then took the vehicle to Bob Thomas Ford West (5321 Illinois Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804) where they performed a diagnosis and informed him that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the steering gear should have been replaced under the initial recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
A warning message appeared referring to the steering system and hill assist. I have had the vehicle since 2017 and kept up maintenance as recommended by Ford. The steering becomes difficult at low speeds but improved with acceleration. This is a safety hazard because when slowing down to make a turn the delay from the struggle to turn the steering wheel could result in a collision. I have had the vehicle towed to the dealership for service. When checking recalls on the NHTSA app by YEAR/MAKE/MODEL, I discovered that this issue is common for drivers of my particular vehicle. I WENT TO HAVE MY CAR INSPECTED AND IT PASSED BUT THEY GAVE ME A FORM WITH 4 RECALLS I NEED TO HAVE REPAIRED AT NO CHARGE ASAP PLEASE
PURCHASED THE 2014 FORD FUSION WITH 63,845 MILES ON IT. TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING (TURNING THE VEHICLE) AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. TOOK IT BACK TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND IT NEEDS A NEW STEERING RACK. RESEARCH INTO THIS SHOWED THAT FORD FUSIONS IN EARLIER YEAR MODELS HAD A RECALL FOR THIS VERY SAFETY CONCERN AND REPORTS OF MANY OTHERS IN THE MORE RECENT YEARS CONTINUING TO HAVE THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO STEER (VERY DIFFICULT/STEERING WHEEL STIFF) OFF THE ROADWAY. VISUAL INSPECTION OF VEHICLE SHOWS NO DAMAGE TO MECHANICAL COMPONENTS. I BELIEVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING COMPONENT OR SENSOR IS CAUSING SYSTEM TO LOCK UP AND COULD HAVE VERY WELL ENDED VERY BADLY FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.

AS I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 50 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE ELECTIVE POWER STEERING ON THE VEHICLE DISABLED. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AS STEERING ASSIST AND HILL START ASSIST LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING. THIS COULD EASILY HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS CRASH AND WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I ALREADY HAD A RECALL ON THE STEERING WHEEL BOLTS COMPLETED A FEW MONTHS AGO.

AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR APPROX 5 MIN INTO MY DRIVE I TURNED AROUND IN A LOCAL DRIVEWAY TO PROCEED BACK TO MY RESIDENCE ON A STRAIGHT PAVED HIGHWAY WITH WET, DARK, DOWN-GRADE CONDITIONS THE VEHICLES STEERING INDICATOR LIGHTS SUDDENLY CAME ON AND THE VEHICLES STEERING TURNED SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT WITH HARDLY NO BRAKING ABILITY CAUSING MY VEH TO LEAVE THE ROADWAY TRAVELING ON SLICK WET GRASS DOWN-HILL 150' FT. STRIKING SEVERAL TREES CAUSING SERIOUS PERMANENT INJURIES FRACTURING MY RIGHT FEMUR AND HIP, ALONG WITH SIGNIFICANT HEAD INJURIES TO MY FOREHEAD. (1) DRIVER OCCUPANT. SIMILAR TO OTHER RECALLS, THE STEERING RACK ON MY VEHICLE IS DAMAGED AND CAUSES GRINDING WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL WHILE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION AT SPEEDS UNDER 35MPH, CAUSING STIFFNESS IN THE WHEEL AND SLIGHT LOCKING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE STEERING CEASED WITH THE HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE, SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC, AND POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT VEERED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AUTONATION FORD UNION CITY (4355 JONESBORO ROAD, UNION CITY, GA 30291, (770) 674-6075) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR PROVIDE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V250000 (STEERING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,800.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND I COULDN'T TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE WHEEL IT MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND ACTED LIKE IT WAS OUT OF POWER STEERING FLUID. MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE POWER STEERING FLUID. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE WAS OUT. THERE IS A RECALL ON THAT PART ON MY TYPE OF VEHICLE BUT NOT ON MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE. *TR
THE STEERING GEAR BOLTS AND INNER STEERING GEARBOX ON MY 2014 FORD FUSION ARE VISIBLY CORRODED. THE CORROSION ON THE STEERING YOUR BOLTS CAUSE THE BOLTS TO SNAP AND HEALTH IN CAUSED THE STEERING GEARBOX TWO SEPARATE. THERE SHOULD BE NO CORROSION ON THE INSIDE OF THE STEERING GEARBOX SINCE THE STEERING GEARBOX IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SEALED IN IT. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY ON MAY 20, 2020 TO ASK THEM TO ADD MY VEHICLE TO THE RECALL LIST FOR THE STEERING GEARBOX THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE WHO I WAS SPEAKING WITH TOLD ME MY CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED FOR THE RECALL IN OCTOBER 2018 HOWEVER MY CAR STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL BOLTS TO ASK THEM TO ADD MY VEHICLE TO THE RECALL LIST FOR THE STEERING GEAR BOLT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE WHO I WAS SPEAKING WITH TOLD ME MY CAR HAD BEEN SERVICED FOR...
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL MOVES UP AND DOWN SIDE TO SIDE. HARD TO STEER WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE ITS LOOSE. TURING A CURVE OR DRIVING STRAIGHT WILL MAKE YOU NERVOUS. WITH THE STEERING WHEEL BEING LOOSE YOU HAVE TO HOLD A CERTAIN WAY SO IT WANT GO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION
