On my way home from work I turned into my driveway and my power steering just went out and when I went to start it up again ti see if it worked the steering wheel wouldn't even move. Sometimes it'll move but will be very very hard to turn when parked and other times it won't move at all. This is a known problem that needs to be fixed, luckily I wasn't on the road when it happened but plenty of other people have been and it's a couple thousand dollar fix. Whenever I start the car I get an alert saying power steering assist, uphill assist and advancetrak all require service which fits in line with everyone else's issues. I'm not sure why this hasn't been addressed yet but it should've been dealt with fat sooner. This is an error that could very easily cost lives if it were...
My 2014 Ford Fusion lost all power steering and this seems to be a very common problem and when I called Ford customer service they said the VIN did not have a recall for this issue even though it seems to happen to a lot of people. This is a very dangerous situation and I can't afford to fix it so please make them do a full recall for the effected years not just specific VINs because obviously the issue is still continuing in 2024.

The power steering went out, it caused me to swerve into other lanes on the highway with me and my children in the car. I took the car to the Ford dealer and they confirmed the power steering rack and pinion needed replaced, which would cost over $3000 to repair. The power steering was reset during diagnostic so I took it to another shop for pricing, they stated the reach and pinion was bad and they quoted me $4000 to repair. I parked the car and when I drove it again the power steering completed went out. I could not afford the repair, it caused me to lose my job, fall behind on car and rental payments for my house causing is to be in eviction now. I had it towed to a shop and the mechanic asked if there was a recall for this issue because he had had...
My transmission has failed multiple times. Luckily my car is under warranty, because I have been able to have it replaced twice, but both times, these malfunctions have put my life and countless others in danger, because the failure is sudden and not preceded by any warnings. This problem has reproduced twice and been confirmed and fixed both times by Sun’s Auto in Spring Texas. The vehicle has been inspected recently by the manufacturer as my shifter bushings also disconnected as part of a separate recall, resulting in a similar situation as the transmission failure. There have been no warnings prior to any of these issues occurring, and at this point recalling individual parts is not sufficient. The transmission and shifter bushing issues alone cost more to repair than the car is worth at this point, and they are extremely dangerous, especially when combined with the other active safety recalls...

I drive a 2014 Ford Fusion and there have been 2 recalls on the Power Steering in these models 15V250000 and 19V632000. A few weeks ago I was driving and had to pull over for a few minutes in front of an elementary school. When I started my car back up to leave I had NO POWER STEERING, actually probably no steering at all as I could not even budge the steering wheel. I had to have my car towed to be repaired. I do not understand why my car is not included in the recalls. I did some research and my car was manufactured at the Hermosillo Mexico factory in the time frame of the recall. So why is my specific car not included? I have also seen many other complaints online when it comes to this issue, so should'nt all the fusions built at that plant at that...

While navigating normal road conditions, the vehicle continues pull in the direction of a turn and requires more effort than normally needed to correct direction. This happens while turning in both directions but is more noticeable to the left. There are no warning messages. Was advised by Ford Dealership where vehicle was purchased and routinely maintained that the entire steering rack requires replacement and that there are no serviceable parts within that steering rack. The price for repair stated to be $3,475.00. There are multiple steering recalls listed for this vehicle, however my VIN number is not included in these recalls.
started to drive and it said pull over Loss Steering - Now ford is saying it will be no safety recalls. The same year fusion has steering recall for the same reason rust and corrosion.
I was driving my car when our of no where, the power steering stopped functioning and two messages started to flash on my dashboard: "Steering Assist Fault Service Required" and "Service Advancetrac" This was very dangerous as I could not steer the car. Once I was able to get the car home, I scanned it and received these two codes: "C0051 Steering Wheel Position Sensor" "U0420 Invalid Dates Received from Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)"
While driving on the highway, I noticed a "hitch" in the steering. The car would wander one way or the other and when I attempted a normal, minor steering correction, the wheel would hit a "hitch" which would require a little more of a tug to get past the "hitch". It became a real issue to drive the car in a straight line without zig zagging down the road, because minor corrections could not be made without a tug. When I got off the highway onto two way traffic, the issue was more concerning as tugs were needed to be made to keep the car from pulling towards the road centerline into oncoming traffic, then back towards the ditch. The "service advance track " and "uphill assist" warning messages appeared as well as the traction control off icon. The Ford garage indicated the Power Steering Control Module: Replace PSCM (steering...

Since receiving the Fusion from the previous owner, there had been a "dead spot" in the middle of the steering. I didn't think anything of it as it didn't have an effect on performance. While driving down the highway, I received a "steering assist failure, service required". The car was operating just fine so we continued home. Upon starting a few days later, the message re-appeared and the steering was tight with the engine running. I put the car in drive and got more warnings, "not in park", "hill assist not", and the steering message. Trying to turn the steering wheel with the engine running was more difficult than an old truck with no power steering. Did not drive the car. After a lot of research, this appears to be a known failure but one not applicable to this VIN #. The Fusion has electronic powering steering (EPS). The main issue...
2014 Ford Fusion hybrid bought brand new, ordered it out of the catalog and have been the only owners. Passed it on down to my husband when I purchased a different Ford in 2019. He started the vehicle, backed out of a parking space and began to drive home from a family event. Suddenly he reported he had to turn the steering wheel extremely hard to make the curves on a very winding road! He immediately slowed down and noticed AdvanceTrac system and Steering Safety alerts come up on the dashboard as well as something about Incline Assist. Both of our children were with him! I could have lost my entire family yesterday, on my youngest's birthday!!! Unfortunately it occurred after 5pm on a Saturday so I haven't gotten in touch with anyone at the Ford manufacturer or local service shop to have it inspected or an estimate for repair....
The Ford Electronic Power Assisted Steering failed. It failed while the vehicle was parked, so no one was put at risk. The problem has been confirmed by a Ford dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the steering gear needed to be replaced; however, the dealer refused to repair the vehicle free of charge as stated in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer agreed with the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 88,750.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while his wife was driving approximately 35 MPH, the wife heard a crunching noise from the vehicle's front end and then the power steering stopped functioning. The contact stated his wife observed numerous unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact's wife pulled over safely and had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer stated that the vehicle had a power steering failure and determined that the steering rack needed to be replaced and reprogram the vehicle computer. The vehicle had not been repaired. I was driving down the highway when My car suddenly popped up a “hill start assist not available” “service AdvanceTrac” and “Steering loss stop safely” as my car completely lost all steering while merging almost causing me to wreck.
The power steering failed on my 2014 Ford Fusion. As I was driving I received a system alert and pulled over within a mile - the power steering was still functioning at this time. I pulled into a parking lot and turned the car off. When I restarted the car there were multiple similar alerts and the power steering was not functioning and the steering was locked up - almost impossible to move. Even the tow truck driver commented on how he was unable to budge it. I am lucky that I was able to pull over and park my car before the power steering failed. I had to get it towed to a local repair shop and they confirmed that the problem was corrosion in the fasteners or bolts of the electric power steering motor that caused the power steering motor to become dislodged. They informed me that there...
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the power steering assist warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver while attempting to change lanes. The contact pulled over safely to the side of the road. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number 19V632000 (Steering). The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.
I first bought my 2014 Ford Fusion in 2020, a few months later the electronic power steering failed and locked up while the vehicle was in motion going 45MPH on the highway. Luckily, I was able to pull over far enough to wait for a tow truck to take me to a repair shop a couple miles away. The repair shop told me I needed my electric power steering rack and pinion replaced, they quoted me $2000 for parts, labor and realignment. I got my vehicle towed to my father's house as I do not have that kind of money and proceeded to order my own electronic power steering rack and pinion online which cost me $682.76 which my dad and I installed together. Fast forward 2 years later my power steering is starting to stiffen up again while driving and likes to 'stick' to the side I am turning...

Arriving at a stop light and the steering failed. Display read " Steering Loss Stop Safely". Towed to local garage who diagnosed problem as the Steering Gear Motor. Ford has a recall related to the steering motor however they claim this VIN is not included. This VIN should be included in the recall (15V250000) (Ford's recall number 15S14). Located in northern New England. High salt area during winter. Very unlikely steering motor just stopped working without the elements having effect on an improperly sealed unit. Vehicle has 160844 miles.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a left turn, several unknown warning lights illuminated. In addition, the vehicle lost power steering functionality while the warning lights were illuminated. After the warning lights disappeared, the vehicle regained power steering functionality. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The ABS activated when turning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
2014 Ford Focus SE, with only 55xxx miles, while driving on the highway, power steering failed completely. This same issue is a known issue and has been reported many times. This issue with my vehicle almost caused an accident, because the power steering stopped working. This issue also causes stability control to stop working.
Steering wheel has locked in place after starting the car. 64,000 miles and now that I jammed the steering wheel loose, it sounds like there is sand in the column and it is incredibly hard to turn the wheel. The wheels won't go straight after the turn. It needs to be manually man handled.
My power steering all of a sudden went bye bye when I was driving it one day
Steering stopped working suddenly without warning and vehicle stalled and would not restart. I was stranded on a highway in a left turn lane. It was a very dangerous situation. Police had to provide safety and security until tow truck arrived. This Ford Fusion sudden steering failure has been documented in numerous complaints. It is an EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE!!! Ford refuses to acknowledge it and take responsibility for correction and repair. This should be classified as criminal negligence. Why hasn't the NHSTA taken action to force a recall?
The service steering assist light came on as the power steering was no longer functioning. I was driving when this occurred and had to wrestle my vehicle into the gas station I was coasting towards. Luckily, I wasn't going very fast and was able to find a safe area to pull over quickly. There was no other warning or indication that there may be an issue with he electric power steering system. I had the vehicle towed to Grand Island Auto Tech who diagnosed it as an internal steering rack failure. The steering rack is/was left at the garage as I believe it had a core charge. No one other than the repair garage inspected the steering rack.
