NHTSA Complaint #11535999 — 2014 FORD FUSION

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and shifting into reverse, the steering wheel became firm and difficult to maneuver. The steering assist fault warning light was illuminated, the Lane Keep Assist warning light was illuminated, and the Service Advancetrac warning light was illuminated. An undisclosed dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,596. The contact paid out of pocket to replace the steering gear.
