10 Speed Transmission has very harsh shifting when accelerating as well as when downshifting. Dealer has looked at it and have been told over and over that it is normal. When downshifting there are time where the shifting creates a lunge affect making you feel that you are going to hit the car in front of you.
Terrible hard shifting
Transmission, hard shifting, shifting out of gear wrong when towing sometimes when not Transmission was already overhauled under factory powertrain warranty at around 42000 miles
While traveling on a local highway in the far left lane, the engine completely died (no engine light came on). I was trying to negotiate traffic while getting to the shoulder of the road, and the transmission began shifting itself into park. I grabbed the shift lever trying to prevent it from going into park; however, it did just as I reached the shoulder of the road. At this point, I had slowed to ~25 MPH, but it still locked the tires up and slid a few feet. After turning the key off, removing it from the truck, and opening the door, I was finally able to restart it and I went straight to my local mechanic. He attached a code reader; however, there were no codes displayed. He stated they probably cleared out when I restarted the truck. This happened a couple of months ago, but my wife has...
Manufacturer Recall Number23S65 NHTSA Recall Number23V896 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Mine has already failed once last year all the dealer did was put new parts in but said they still are not updated I tow a camper and it is soon time to tow and I am going on a long trip just want to see when the fix will be in
Whining or whistling noise at idle. Bangs when shifts to lowest gear.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, the rear end of the vehicle started vibrating abnormally. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the alignment had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear axle hub bolts were worn and had shifted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a leak in the rear axle seals. The repair was pending. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V896000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 28,000.
I received this recall December of 2023. I was originally advised that a fix would be ready during the 1st quarter of 2024. I inquired on two occasions about the safety of driving my truck with the axle bolt breaking issue recall. Two separate techs advised me that I could continue driving my truck until a fix to the issue is found but both techs advised not to tow a trailer until it's repaired. I mainly use my truck to tow and usually a couple hundred miles at a time, so this doesn't help me and its now mid-March of 2025.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission experienced hard shifting, gear grinding, and slipping gear while accelerating from a red light. The contact stated that the gear shift indicator showed that the transmission was in 10th gear and the vehicle started drifting backward. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 32,000.
Transmission suddenly downshifted from 7th to 1st gear when driving along a highway. This significantly slowed the vehicle down and almost caused a following vehicle to collide with me. The vehicle will also shift from 4th to 3rd violently, revving the engine then slammining into gear. This throws the heads of all occupants a d causes significant early wear and tear on power train components.
Rear axle failed while driving. Had vehicle towed to Malloy Ford in Winchester, VA. They replaced the failed components, at no cost. When I asked about reimbursement for towing, they were not able to assist me in filing my claim for towing reimbursement. I contacted FORD Customer Service, who said they only way they may help me is if I return the vehicle to Ford Service (must be in their possession) and have Ford Service contact them directly and ask for "reimbursement assistance" by 16 Jan. However, stated there is absolutely no guarantee they will reimburse towing. Are you able to assist me? The towing cost was $185.40
I was pulling out into traffic, I eased out to make the turn, when I pressed the accelerator in order to merge to traffic speed, the truck did nothing. It did not stall, the engine was running, but it would not go. The transmission did not act like it was in gear, it is an automatic. I could have been hit by other cars by having my truck sitting in the road. The problem has occurred twice, but I cannot force the issue. it occurs randomly. I am calling service center today 12/17/24 to have it looked at. Vehicle has had the transmission replaced by manufacturer at a factory authorized dealership. There were no warning lights or any indications that the truck was malfunctioning.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V896000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH when a loud grinding noise was emitting from underneath the vehicle. The contact had lost power causing the vehicle to drift to the right. The vehicle ended up hitting a trash can nearby before it came to a stop. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries or medical attention needed. A police report was not filed. The contact had to place the vehicle in 4-wheel drive mode to be able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was not able to diagnose the vehicle at the time. The manufacturer was made...
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact immediately drove to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V896000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer provided a temporary fix allowing the contact to continue driving the vehicle safely; however, the vehicle had to receive the temporary repair three times. The contact stated that the failure consisted of crunching while shifting gear which occurred after shifting to drive, with a ticking sound progressively becoming worse as the vehicle shifted into the higher gears or in reverse. The manufacturer had provided a loaner vehicle each time the vehicle was taken for temporary repair. The manufacturer was...
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact heard a loud noise. The contact stated that the gear shifter failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the gear shifter failed to shift into drive or reverse. The contact exited the vehicle and performed an inspection of the vehicle. The contact stated upon inspecting underneath the vehicle, the contact noticed that the driveshaft was fractured. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a fractured driveshaft. The contact was informed that the driveshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under recall or warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,560.
At 30k I noticed the transmission start shifting hard especially when down shifting. I called the dealer and expressed by concerns when doing my normal oil changes. The dealer said it was normal. Now at 42k the truck skips 2nd gear and when shifting between 3rd and 4th it hits hard. Also an independent mechanic shop said the engine is making a weird winding sound. Sounds like the barring in the turbos are going. Again I tell the dealer and they said it's normal for the 3.5 ecoboost to sound like that. Currently it's at the dealer getting the transmission worked on. I know I will be having engine issues, that sound is not normal. I want it on record that it started happening around 30k.
Wheel end hub bolts. Rear axles
Cam Phasers went bad, had to get replaced.
I've experienced the loss of power during hard acceleration. Right hand turns from a stop feel like the engine has stalled and rolling right hand turns are becoming increasingly more dangerous. Most recently as I was merging onto a highway. Pedal to the floor, the truck initi9ally accelerated for a couple seconds until it stalled to make the truck not only not accelerate but almost made it feel as if I was breaking. This is very dangerous.
Cruising highway speeds, when accelerator is pressed to gain speed, make a pass, ect the transmission downshifts into 3rd gear, engine losses all power for 4-8 seconds while accelerator is held down. I’ve almost been in several accidents due to expecting a vehicle to accelerate and nothing happening and traffic
Rear axle seal busted because the rear axle hub bolt broke. Dealer indicated this cause the axle boot to bust allowing water into the differential. Dealer stated parts for recall aren't available and/or are on national back order. Ford estimates a fix will be in place 1st quarter 2025. So I am out of a vehicle until this time. Ford refuses to cover a rental.
I started to pass a vehicle, when I tried to accelerate the vehicle lost all forward momentum like it was in neutral, I pressed the gas to the floor and then engine did not raise the rpm’s and no forward increase in momentum, I then let off the gas, and then reapplied full gas and it very slowly started to move forward again. This almost caused an accident as I was passing on a 2 lane road over a broken yellow line, it just fell flat on its face.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V896000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I contacted a local Ford dealership: Hempstead Ford, 301 N Franklin St, Hempstead, NY 11550, (516) 363-1579 to perform multiple safety recalls issued by NHTSA. The service department refused to schedule me for service because I did not buy the vehicle from their dealership. I reported this to Ford Customer Relations and was told that they cannot force the dealership to service my vehicle. I believe this is illegal.
The automatic 10 speed transmission 10R80 covered by TSB24-2176 will violently downshift or upshift causing passengers and contents of the vehicle to be thrown around the vehicle. This happens at random events, sometimes while accelerating, sometimes while decelerating, and without warning, which leads to violent decelerating and lurching on the road, which is a safety concern in heavy traffic. The transmission has been serviced 3 times by Ford of Homewood, twice under warranty and once out of warranty (60K powertrain) but there is no fix or remedy to repair this issue. I own several other identical 10 speed equipped trucks that operate fine, perhaps a bit jerky with shifting, but this truck is a safety hazard that cannot be repaired.
Good day, I am experiencing a leak from the front differential pinion seal on my vehicle. This leak appears to be a common issue based on reports from other owners in various online forums and owner groups. The front differential transfers power from the transmission to the front wheels. A leak from the pinion seal can cause a loss of differential fluid, which could lead to premature wear and eventual failure of the front differential components. If the front differential fails while driving, it could cause a loss of control of the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash or collision. This poses a significant safety hazard to myself, my passengers, and other vehicles on the road. I am requesting that Ford Motor Company acknowledge this issue and take corrective action by issuing a recall or service bulletin to inspect and repair/replace the faulty front differential pinion seals on...
Unknown which component is failing. It started with a rumble while accelerating or coasting but goes away when I shift into neutral so I believe that is the transmission. Other issues that are occurring randomly, speedometer will change indication to slower speed than I am actually going or it will drop to 0 while I am driving. Alerts and faults that have shown at the same time the speedometer goes out are: Powertrain fault, ABS, Forward Collision Warning, Parking Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance, Cross Traffic Warning. Also a random metallic spinning noise coming from under the truck. It has been in the dealer garage 5 times now.
Transmission encountered rough, jerky gear changes, along with delayed acceleration responses referred to as “hesitation" Rapid unexpected deceleration or inability to accelerate complete loss of motive power
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle turned off and the vehicle decelerated. The vehicle independently automatically restarted; however, the failure recurred. The contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V267000 (Electrical System, Power Train) however, neither the year, make, model nor the VIN was included. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started and the gear shifter was shifted into drive(D), the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact also stated that no failure codes displayed. The contact stated that the failure had been persistent since the vehicle was purchased in October 2021. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V896000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the hub nut was fractured. The dealer replaced the hub nut and the rear axle and informed the contact that the repair was temporary. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
High-speed highway travel this morning. Switched lanes and pressed accelerator; engine cut out. Seemed to be in no gear for 6-9 seconds before lurching into power again. Incident was very dangerous and forced a rapid slowing in fast lane affecting traffic behind me. This has happened 4 times in the past 8 months.
The recalls have been fixed!! Please update your records!!

10R80 transmission suddenly started showing symptoms of failure at 81,000 miles. Issues were slipping, jerking, and random gear selections. Safety was compromised when trying to merge (gas pedal pushed but truck didn't downshift initially, then drops to very low gear or from a dead stop would start in 10th gear and barely move), also when from a stop truck felt like it went into neutral when shifting into second almost causing rear end accidents and finally it would random leave shift into extremely low gear (1-2) when doing 20 causing a sudden breaking affect. Due to the safety concerns I did get the transmission replaced and symptoms have not returned. No warning lights appeared, AAMCO did the inspection as well as warranty company saying the transmission should be replaced.
Issues with the 10 speed automatic transmission and the adaptive learning. Rough, harsh, clunky shifting at times. Which could cause excessive ware or even failure I feel. Also, at around 70 mph the truck has this rattle or shaking . Not sure what it is .
The contact's business partner owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his business partner was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a fractured driveshaft. The dealer replaced the driveshaft. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V986000 (Power Train, Structure). The failure mileage was 80,230.
While driving my truck, I attempted a merge onto interstate 80, and completely lost power. I was accelerating to merge, and when the transmission shifted the truck lost all power. This is a dangerous situation and should be addressed. I cannot believe that nothing is being done about the issue, and Ford knows about this, as my local dealership is months out on transmission repairs.. It would sure be great if the agency responsible for forcing a recall would work for us..
Passenger side rear axle retainer bolt sheared off. My vehicle was manufactured 20 days after the existing recall. Repair was done under warranty but obviously should be included as part of the recall.
When moving the shift lever from Drive to Reverse, and physically feeling the two detents from Drive, through Neutral, and into Reverse, intermittently the shift lever will still indicate Neural and the vehicle will stay in Neutral even after two physical detents have been felt (i.e. the truck should indicate and be in Reverse after two physical detents). The truck and shift lever will stay in Neutral even after I remove my hand from the shift lever. The truck will only engage reverse after physically pressing the shift lever further forward within the physical Reverse detent area. There were no warnings on the dash and no trouble codes present within the system. The vehicle is available for inspection, and a video is available, however it is intermittently operating in this manner. When performing a 3-point turn on a roadway, this has led me to believe that my vehicle was engaged...
On 11-28-2023 I took my truck in for an oil change and new tires. When the wheels were removed the passenger side rear axle bolt fell out. It had been sheared off and I don't know how long I had driven it like that. The last time the wheels were off was when I had an oil change and tire rotation at the same dealership in July 2023, they did not alert me to a problem at that time. The dealer said it was unsafe to drive and I should leave it there to await parts and service. My truck is a 2021 F-150 Ecoboost with the Max Tow Package. It has 54,520 miles on it. The dealer service department has not looked at it to determine if it is an eligible warranty repair or not at this time but it is scheduled to be inspected today. There were no...
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated while stopped the vehicle was at a stop light, the vehicle displayed a message reading "Service Advanced Auto Track," requiring the vehicle to be shifted into park and restarted. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The engine kill switch warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to three individual dealers, who were all unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000.
It was discovered during rotating my Tires that the center bolt for my Rear axle had snapped off. In talking with the dealership this has been an issue with other ford products.
VEH: 2021 F150 FX4 SUPERCREW, 3.5L, MAX TRAILER TOW PKG COMPONENT FAILURE: Rear Passenger Axle Retainer Bolt (on Rear Axle Half-Shaft and Hub Assembly) On 11/03/2023, while having oil change at Simmons Rockwell Ford I was advised that they had located a snapped Axle Retaining bolt on rear passenger axle. I was advised that the axle to hub splines were also found to be damaged & loose. I was informed by service manager that he DID NOT RECOMMEND DRIVING VEHICLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, he heard an abnormal sound coming from the rear axle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the rear axle assembly bolt had detached. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to Customer Satisfaction Program: 22B34. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 87,700.
Truck shakes violently at 65mph and higher. Replaced tires, rims, suspension, had the ford dealer check it many times. Took it to a mechanic shop and come to find out the driveshaft is making my truck shake. I have video of the rear end/ driveshaft, and transmission/ transfer case and the dealer said my vin number wasn’t part of the Recall
Was driving less than 30 mph slowing down to turn on Hwy 185 in Port O Connor, Labor day 9-2-2023 busy day on road truck just locked up and stopped, could not push, engine was running truck would not move. County sheriff said it had to be moved now completely off the hiway or county would send a tow truck and put in impound lot since tires over the white line. THis is a 2 lane Hwy with no shoulders, part on private property part on hwy 185. We put in neutral towed it 1 1/2 blocks to friends property.
