Driving vehicle on highway and warning lights began to illuminate. Hill assist error, parking brake error, advance Trac Control error, wiper pump began to spray wiper fluid until it emptied and wipers would not stop. Car powered down and had to pull over. Car would start but would not move and had to get a tow to dealer.
Truck completely lost power while driving on the highway 4 times and 4 other times during morning commute through busy streets. Dangerous circumstance to be put in while driving. Codes given at Auto Zone: P2112 U3013-16 U0401-02 U0401-00 U0131-00 U0151-00 U0100-00
There is a strong smell of electrical wires burning and occasionally a little smoke comes out from under the hood. I try and look for the problem but no luck in finding it. I know that there was a recall on Ford F150 about wiring from a heater block or something too close to the engine causing the wires to melt together.
Vehicle shudders and stalls occasionally especially after a period of driving.
It was raining and the rear window was fogging up, so I turned on the rear defrost. About 30 seconds go by and I smell a burning smell. Not sure what it was. I parked and was outside waiting on the bus to go into work and about 5-6 minute later the rear window shattered. It has a sliding window but the sliding portion didn’t shatter just the entire rest of the window.
Used the remote start and came out to the truck and got in to a cab full of smoke, shut the truck off and found a electrical fire in the rear defrost system
It’s a known problem that the wiring for the defrosters causes the rear window to shatter. I was driving down the road and I heard a loud bang. It took me a few minutes to realize my rear window just exploded.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH and exiting the highway, the transmission erroneously downshifted causing the vehicle to abruptly decelerate with the check engine warning light illuminated. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normally however, the failure reoccurred and the vehicle stalled and would not immediately restart. After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cables, the vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who performed a transmission software update but the failure persisted along with several additional electrical failures. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission leadframe was faulty and needed to be replaced; however, the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,800.
My wife and I were traveling to our home in the truck. When preparing to turn left off the main road, I noticed that the turn signals were not working, requiring me to go to the right off the side of the road, as there was heavy traffic behind us. While on the side of the road, I tried the windshield wipers, window sprayer, and turn signals. None were working. I turned the engine off and then restarted the truck, and limped home. After getting home, the truck was parked while looking for a mechanic to fix whatever was wrong with it. It was recommended to me that the "Wiper Multi-switch" be replaced. This did not eliminate the problem. I then arranged for the Ford Dealer, Woody Anderson Ford, to take the truck in and fix it. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? While parked, the rear defrost button was engaged. Shortly afterwards (1-2min) the backseat filled with smoke. I had my family immediately exit the vehicle and the rear window exploded. I checked the area and found an electrical wire draped over the rear passenger seat. It was melted and had clearly exploded up and over the seat. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Yes, had my children remained in the vehicle, they would have been sprayed with glass or burned from the electrical short. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, however, I looked online and found this has happened to others. I have a critical safety issue with the 2016 F150 truck I bought from Cavalier Ford, Chesapeake VA. The issue is the 6R80 automatic transmission unexpectedly changes gears while driving. In my case the truck down shifted from high gear to low gear on the interstate while driving about 70 miles per hour. I was fortunate no other cars were near me. My truck almost came to a stop, no brake lights displayed. This occurred the week on Jul 6 2021. It has occurred multiple times since than as well. I had the battery checked, showed bad, and bought a new one Jul 9th. I also had the "Check Engine" light scanned at Autozone. It revealed codes P0706/707, ie Range Sensor inside the transmission. IT'S INEXCUSABLE FOR A CLOCK SPRING TO GO OUT ON A PICKUP THAT HAS LESS THAN 40K ON THE ODOMETER. FORD'S ARE GREAT VEHICLES, BUT THIS LITTLE ELECTRICAL ISSUE, WHICH COMES AT NO FAULT OF MY OWN, WILL COST ME BETWEEN $300.00 TO $400.00. I HAD JUST DROPPED OFF MY SON AT DAYCARE AND TURNED ON THE DEFROSTERS. I WAS SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT AT WORK, AND THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY STATIONARY AT THE TIME. A RANK, BURNING SMELL FILLED THE TRUCK AND I IMMEDIATELY TURNED IT OFF. SECONDS LATER A LOUD "POP" OCCURRED AND THE REAR WINDOW COMPLETELY SHATTERED. THERE ARE SMALL PIECES OF GLASS THROUGHOUT THE BED AND INSIDE THE BACK SEAT. WHILE STATIONARY (WOULD ALSO HAPPEN WHILE IN MOTION) IN A PARKING LOT WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT HEATERS ACTIVATED (DRIVER ON MEDIUM, PASSENGER ON HIGH), A RANDOM CLICKING SOUND (BELIEVED TO BE THE RELAY FOR THE HEATED SEATS) WAS OBSERVED COMING FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT WAS THEN NOTICED THAT THE HEATED SEATS WERE NO LONGER FUNCTIONING/PROVIDING HEAT, EVEN THOUGH THE LIGHTS ON THE CONTROLS WERE STAYING ILLUMINATED. A SHORT WHILE LATER, A BURNING (ELECTRICAL) SMELL WAS OBSERVED IN THE CAB, COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ELECTRIC SYSTEM WENT DOWN, NO LIGHTS,TURN SIGNALS,HORN WIPERS, ETC. (RADIO KEPT WORKING) ENGINE STARTED AND DROVE HOME VERY CAREFULLY
I REMOTE STARTED THE TRUCK WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, WHILE I GOT MY SON READY FOR DAYCARE. THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WAS RAINING AND ROUGHLY 35 DEGREES. ONCE MY SON WAS LOADED INTO THE CAR SEAT I CLOSED HIS DOOR AND HEARD THE WINDOW CRACK. I LOOKED BACK TO SEE THE BACK REAR WINDSHIELD HAD SPIDER WEBBED AND SHATTERED. THE GLASS WAS BLOWN FROM THE INSIDE OUT ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I HAVE PHOTOS OF WERE THE DEFROST STRIP HAD ARCED/SEPARATED CAUSING THE WINDOW TO SHATTER. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW SEVERAL OTHER EXAMPLES OF THIS ON THE EXACT SAME MODEL OF TRUCK. I WAS RECOMMENDED TO PREVENT THIS IN THE FUTURE WAS TO PULL THE DEFROST FUSE.
TRUCK WILL STALL/SHUT OFF AT A STOP WHILE TOWING. RED BATTERY LIGHT WILL SHOW ON DASHBOARD. CAR WILL TURN OVER THEN SHUT DOWN AGAIN BY ITSELF WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AT THIS POINT- ONCE WHILE IN GAS STATION IN LINE TO GET GAS (STATIONARY) ONCE AT INTERSECTION (STATIONARY AT STOP LIGHT), ANOTHER TIME AFTER STOPPING VEHICLE TO GET GAS. AT FIRST EVENT 30 MINUTES AFTER IT NOT WORKING A JUMP STARTED THE VEHICLE SUCCESSFULLY, AT SECOND INSTANCE JUMP WOULD NOT START CAR, HAD TO GET TOWED, AT THIRD INSTANCE WE WERE ABLE TO START VEHICLE BY HOLDING THROTTLE DOWN WHILE PUTTING IN DRIVE. BROUGHT TO FORD DEALERSHIP- SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG, WOULD NOT WORK ON TRUCK, SAID NO COMPUTER CODES WERE FOUND.
WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE GOES BELOW FREEZING, MY DOOR LOCKS FREEZE AND YOU CANNOT GET INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING OUTSIDE IN MY DRIVEWAY, AND IS INOPERABLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED BY MANY OTHER FORD OWNERS ON THE INTERNET.
REAR DEFROSTER SHORTED OUT. OVERHEATED AND CAUGHT THE PLASTICS ON FIRE. THE WINDOW THEN SHATTERED FROM THE EXCESS HEAT FROM THE REAR DEFROST. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY. OUTSIDE TEMP WAS 28 DEGREES. REAR DEFROST AND HEAT WERE ON FOR THE VEHICLE. WHILE TRAVELING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE INTERNALLY. THE CAR WAS PULLED OVER, AND SHUT OFF. THE SMOKE STOPPED AND THE WINDOW SHATTERED. THE PLASTIC AND SEAT SURROUNDING THE REAR DEFROST CONNECTION TO THE WINDOW WERE MELTED.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. JUST STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER TURNED ON BY ITSELF. MOMENTS LATER THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED.
DOOR LATCHES 'FREEZE' AND WILL NOT ENGAGE IN COLD WEATHER (VEHICLE IS PARKED OUTSIDE AND IN COLD WEATHER THIS IS FREQUENT PROBLEM). THIS PROBLEM HAD PREVIOUS RECALL / REPAIR BUT FIX IS NOT WORKING. REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER DOES NOT WORK IN ONE SECTION OF 3 PART WINDOW (HAS ONE PART OF THREE SECTION - SECTION ON DRIVERS SIDE). VEHICLE HAS 30,000 MILES. WINDOW SECTIONS THAT DO WORK GET HOT
SAME ISSUE AS REPORT 11308430 - ACTIVATED REMOTE START WITH TRUCK IN DRIVEWAY; WHEN I CAME OUT TO DRIVE AWAY, THE REAR WINDSHIELD WAS SHATTERED. THE CLIMATE SETTINGS ARE SET TO THE FACTORY DEFAULT FOR REMOTE START. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF THE DEFROSTER CONNECTION ISSUE MENTIONED BECAUSE THIS WAS A WARM SUMMER DAY AND THE DEFAULT SETTING INDICATES THAT THE DEFROSTER SHOULD NOT HAVE ENGAGED AND THE DEALERSHIP SAW NO EVIDENCE THAT IT DID. THE TRUCK IS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED, BUT FORD CLAIMED THIS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE GLASS, WHICH IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS WARRANTY, THUS FORD WAS UNWILLING TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR COST.
VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND SITTING IN OUR HOME DRIVEWAY. BEFORE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, I SMELLED SMOKE AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM BEHIND THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND LOWERED THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT TO INVESTIGATE. THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE BOX IN THE LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE BACK GLASS. SECONDS LATER, A LOUD EXPLOSION FROM THE BOX AND THE BACK GLASS SHATTERED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CENTER SLIDING PORTION.
PURCHASED TRUCK JULY 2016, IN DEC 15, 2018 AT 39,637 MILE THE ALTERNATOR FAILED. HAD TO HAVE NEW ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY CABLE INSTALLED AT THE COST OF $800.00 NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY OF BY FORD. ON JUNE 11, 2020 ALTERNATOR AGAIN FAILED AND HAS TO BE REPLACED, FORD SERVICE QUOTING COST OF REPAIR TO BE $1000.00 AGAIN NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY OR FORD. DRIVING EASTBOUND ON I-10 AT 75 -80 MPH, ON A MOUNTAIN, SUDDENLY ADVANCTRAC FAULT WARNING AND ENGINE POWER LOST. VEHICLE ENTERED LIMP MODE. I WAS FORCED TO 'LIMP' ON THE SHOULDER TO REACH A SAFE AREA TO STOP WITH CELL SERVICE AND WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEMI TRAFFIC AT HIGH SPEEDS WERE BLOWING PAST VERY LITTLE SHOULDER SPACE TO NAVIGATE. AT EACH GUARD RAIL I WAS FORCED TO STOP - WAIT FOR A BREAK IN TRAFFIC- RESTART AND PRAY FOR ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET AROUND THE AREA. I FINALLY LIMPED INTO WILCOX AZ AND CONTACTED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED 74 MILES TO SMITH FORD IN LORDSBURG NM $280. FRA ADVISED THAT DUE TO COVID 19 NO PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION IS AVAILABLE. NO ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION IS AVAILABLE IN WILCOX AZ. SMITH FORD SERVICE DOES NOT OPEN UNTIL MONDAY. THE LOCKS ON MY TRUCK FROZE IN WINTER AND AS MY WIFE WAS GOIN DOWN INTERSTATE THE DOOR CAME OPEN AND I'VE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I GOT IT ND THEY REFUSE TA FIX MY RECALLS AND TOLD ME IT WOULD BE 4 DAYS WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND I'M ACTIVE MILITARY AND CAN NOT GO WITHOUT A VEHICLE THEY OFFERED NO CAR TA ME AND WE'RE RUDE AND NOT WILLING TA SHOW ME WHICH OF THE 10 RECALLS ON MY TRUCK IF ANY HAD BEEN FIXED . WHEN I GOT OFF WORK GOT INTO MY VEHICLE AFTER A RAINY DAY WATER POURED OUT FROM MY CONTROL PANEL ON THE CEILING OF MY TRUCK. THIS THE SECOND TIME IT'S DONE IT. WHEN I GOT IN MY VEHICLE THE INTERIOR WAS DRY BUT AS SOON AS I TURNED RIGHT WATER BEGAN TO POUR FROM THE CONTROL PANEL ON THE CEILING.
I HAVE A 2016 F150 LARIAT. WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION MY REAR BLINDSPOT SPOT MODUALE KEEPS SHOWING ON MY DASH COVERING MY SPERDOMETER. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I LOSE MY HEAT, AIRBAGS, GPS, FRONT POWER WINDOWS, POWER MIRRORS AND POWER SEATS. I'VE BEEN CHECKING ONLINE OF THIS PROBLEM AND SOUNDS QUITE COMMON. THIS WAS HAPPENING ABOUT 3 TIMES A DAY FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS AND NOW IT STAYS TO WHERE ITS CONSTANT. SEEING THIS IS ON GOING WITH THESE VEHICLES I THINK THE DEALERSHIPS SHOULD BE RELIABLE TO FIX THIS EXPENSIVE ONGOING PROBLEM. THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN UTICA, NY WANTS 1500.00 DOLLARS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.
FAULTY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WITH LESS THAN 60,000 MILES. STARTED THE VEHICLE UP, AND ALL GAUGES AND LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, DIAGNOSED AS BAD CLUSTER. A RECALL AFFECTED 2017 MODELS FOR THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE, YET MY 2016 WHICH WAS PRODUCED 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE MODELS AFFECTED BY THE RECALL IS NOT COVERED. (NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 17V053000) FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS REFUSED TO HELP IN THE MATTER AND SUGGESTED I FILE A COMPLAINT HERE.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 FORD F150 NORTH ON PAYMENT, THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 35. I HAD RECENTLY TURN MY REAR DEFROSTER ON SO IT WAS ON FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES PRIOR TO THE REAR GLASS SHATTERING. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 35 MPH WHEN I HEARD SOMETHING POP AND A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM THE REAR OF MY PICKUP AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A GUN SHOT BUT IT TURNS OUT THE REAR GLASS HAD SHATTERED. THE ONLY THING THAT COULD'VE CAUSED IT IS THE REAR DEFROSTER. REPLACEMENT OF THE REAR WINDOW AND INSTALLATION WILL COST $623.22.
REMOTE START WAS ACTIVATED WITH MY TRUCK BACKED INTO MY DRIVEWAY UP TO MY GARAGE. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES I CAME OUT TO MY TRUCK AND OBSERVED THE REAR WINDSHIELD TO BE SHATTERED AND GLASS ALL OVER MY CHILD'S CAR SEAT. AFTER CLOSER INSPECTION, THE AREA AROUND WHERE THE DEFROST WIRE CONNECTS TO GLASS HAD A OBVIOUS BURN PATTERN AND GLASS WAS SPIDER WEBBED OUT FROM THAT LOCATION. FORD WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR FAILED PARTS AND WOULD NOT REPAIR.

ON 1/16/2020. I USED MY REMOTE STARTER TO START THE 2016 FORD F-150 3 MINUTES LATER I WENT OUT AND SMELLED ELECTRICAL WIRING. I SHUT OFF THE TRUCK TO LOOK AROUND. THIS FIRST STARTED HAPPENING IN THE FALL OF 2018 AND I STILL ON GOING AND HAPPEN TO ME AGAIN THIS WEEKEND 1/14/2020 FORD HAD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE ON 2017 AND NEWER TRUCKS BUT MINE IS NOT LISTED IN THE RECALL. HOW DO I GET IT ADDED TO THE RECALL TO FIX THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. THE RECALL COVERS F-250, F-350 AND F-450 TRUCKS FROM THE 2017 THROUGH 2019 MODEL YEARS. ALL THE TRUCKS HAVE ELECTRIC TAILGATE LATCH RELEASE SWITCHES IN THE TAILGATE HANDLE. FORD SAYS WATER CAN GET INTO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING AND CAUSE A SHORT CIRCUIT, ACTIVATING THE SWITCHES AND RELEASING THE LATCHES. THAT COULD ALLOW LOOSE CARGO TO FALL ONTO THE ROAD.
I EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE THAT WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST BUT BECAME WORST OVER TIME. WITH THIS FAILURE I WOULD LOSE STEERING AND VEHICLE ADVANCE TRACK AS WELL AS ABS BRAKE FUNCTION. WHEN ELECTRICAL POWER WAS LOST THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING WOULD STOP FUNCTIONING CAUSING COMPLETE LOSE OF STEERING. THIS CAUSED ME TO CROSS INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE ONCOMING LANE. THE DEALER FOUND A WIRE GOING TO THE ALTERNATOR THAT HAD WORN THROUGH CAUSING AN OVER VOLTAGE CONDITION. THIS CAUSED MANY OF THE SYSTEMS, INCLUDING STEERING, TO SHUT DOWN. IN MY RESEARCH THIS IS NOT THE ONLY OCCURRENCE OF THIS ISSUE. MY VEHICLE HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT. I WOULD GUESS THIS WILL BECOME A MUCH MORE COMMON ISSUE WITH TIME.
WHILE EXITING THE INTERSTATE, MAKING A HARD SWOOPING LEFT HAND TURN, MAKE TRUCK SHUTDOWN COMPLETELY. AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH AND TURNING, I SUDDENLY HAD TO FIGHT THE LACK OF POWER STEERING. AS SOON AS I FELT IT STOP IT POWERED BACK UP. THIS ISSUE CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY COME TO A STOP.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WE SMELLED SMOKE AND MY BACK SLIDING WINDOW SHATTERED AND BLEW OUT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULDN'T GIVE A COMPLETE ESTIMATE. CALLED FORD CORP AND OF COURSE THEY ARE DRAGGING THEIR FEET. THE REAR DEFROST WASN'T EVEN ACTIVATED AT THE TIME THAT IT SHORTED OUT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND IT HAS BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE WITH FORDS FOR YEARS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ROLL DOWN THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS, THE WINDOWS WOULD SUDDENLY GO UP. THE CONTACT CALLED KOONS FORD OF BALTIMORE (LOCATED AT 6970 SECURITY BLVD, WINDSOR MILL, MD 21244, 410-298-3800), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
LOADED UP MY 6 YEAR OLD SON AND 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN CARSEATS IN THE REAR OF A 4 DOOR F150. STARTED VEHICLE TURNED ON REAR DEFROST. WITHIN 30 SECONDS, THE REAR CORNER BEHIND MY CHILD'S SEAT STARTED TO SMOKE. 30 SECONDS MORE AND THE ENTIRE BACK WINDOW SHATTERED. NOT ONLY WAS THIS VERY DANGEROUS WITH TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT, IT WAS VERY TRAUMATIC FOR THEM
PURCHASED-NEW 2016 F-150 CENTER REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER QUIT WORKING AT APPROXIMATELY 13,380 MILES AND 37 MONTHS SINCE PURCHASE. PURCHASED THE FORD PREMIUM CARE WARRANTY WHICH SPECIFIC LISTS "HEATED BACKGLASS (ELECTRICAL ONLY - NOT BROKEN OR DAMAGED GLASS) AS A COVERED ITEM. REAR WINDOW GLASS IS NOT BROKEN OR DAMAGED, BUT FORD STILL REFUSED TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY. INCIDENT SUBMITTED TO PROVIDE FOR FURTHER DOCUMENTATION OF EXISTING F-150 ISSUE.
SYNC 3 DISCONNECTS FROM PHONE, FREEZES UP WHILE DRIVING CAUSING HAZARDOUS CONDITION, KNOWN PROBLEMS AND FORD HAS KNOW REAL FIX
WHILE DIVING ONTO AN INTERSTATE ON RAMP, THE BACK GLASS SHATTERED. NOTHING STRUCK THE GLASS, IT JUST BROKE. WHEN THE WINDOW WAS REPLACED, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE REAR DEFROSTER WIRING HAD BURNED BOTH ON THE WINDOW AND IN THE TRUCK. THE REAR DEFROSTER OVERHEATED THE WINDOW AND CAUSED IT TO SHATTER. IT NEARLY STARTED A FIRE.
AFTER STARTING VEHICLE, COULD SMELL ELECTRICAL WIRING BURNING. COUPLE DAYS LATER REAR WINDOW WITH DEFROSTER WIRES MELTED. CAUSING WINDOW TO OVER HEAT AND BREAK. WINDOW REPAIR PERSON AT SAFELITE INDICATED WE ARE LUCK TRUCK DIDNT BURN UP. HE SHOWED US THE MELTED WIRES.
DRIVING NORMALLY ON FOUR LANE DIVIDED STATE ROAD WHEN WARNINGS ABOUT VARIOUS SYSTEM FAILURES CAME UP ON DASH (TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKING, CHARGING SYSTEM). POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING FIRST THEN TRUCK SHUT DOWN. GOT JUMP STARTED THINKING BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR AND TRUCK DROVE NORMALLY FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN SAME SCENARIO REPEATED.
SYNC 3 FREEZES TO THE POINT OF LACK OF USE. BACK UP CAMERA DELAYED. DELAYED ADJUSTMENT IN SOUND. BLUETOOTH DISCONNECTS/RECONNECTED CAUSING DISTRACTION WHEN DRIVING. GPS NAVIGATION SIGNAL WILL NOT RECONNECT OR NOT ACCURATE.
HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE TO DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WITH COMPLAINT OF HEARING RATTLING UNDER VEHICLE AND IN STEERING COLUMN ALONG WITH NOISE FROM RIGHT FRONT BRAKE AREA. ALSO WITH COMPLAINTS OF VEHICLES WANDERING LEFT AND RIGHT ON HIGHWAY REGARDLESS OF ROAD CROWN. HAVE ASKED SPECIFICALLY TO CHECK THE ELECTRIC STEERING TO ENSURE NOT FAULTY. ALL THESE COMPLAINTS WHILE STILL UNDER ORIGINAL WARRANTY. TODAY, TWO WEEKS AFTER LAST VISIT, STEERING LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING AND I CANNOT TURN THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ON MY PROPERTY GOING SLOW AND WAS ABLE TO STOP SAFELY. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND DROVE 30 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 70MPH. GLAD THE STEERING DID NOT FREEZE THEN. SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT AND GOT THE 'STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED' ON THE CLUSTER ALONG WITH A BUNCH OF OTHER SYMBOLS. THE SYNC SCREEN CAME UP AND FROZE AND COULD NOT BE...
TRUCK EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE SENSOR FAILURES OVER SEVERAL MONTHS THAT RESET. FAILURES INCLUDE CAR STALLING IN INTERSECTION, BLIND SPOT MONITORING, BACK UP SENSORS, CAR SHUTTING OFF AND TURNING BACK ON ON ITS OWN. CAR HAD TO BE POWERED DOWN AND SHUT OFF FOR 30 SECONDS BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO RESTART. MOST RECENT FAILURE RESULTED IN TRUCK HORN GOING OFF AS WELL AS CAR TURNING OFF WHILE GOING 35-40 MPH THEN RESTARTING ON ITS OWN - CAR SURGED FORWARD AFTER IT RESTARTED ITSELF. AT THE SAME TIME HAZARDS COMING ON, DOORS UNLOCKING AND LOCKING AND REAR TAILGATE OPENING. AFTER BRINGING CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP, SHUT OFF CAR AND IT TURNED ITSELF BACK ON (HORN WENT OFF, HAZARDS WENT ON, DOORS UNLOCKED AND LOCKED, AND REAR TAIL GATE RELEASED). TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM.
