2015 FORD F-150 Service Brakes Problems

gears dropped fast on the highway, rpm's went up because my foot was on gas because I was on the highway, rear end locked up and I skidded going from 60MPH to 30 in a second.

This vehicle was purchased by a friend with the factory tow package. No modifications were made before my purchase three years ago. I installed a factory brake controller for a travel trailer I purchased. The software was enabled with Forscan, and the dealer updated the software to the latest available. Even with a new seven way plug, the truck displays "trailer disconnected" when using the slide brake and also never shows any output when braking. The brakes do engage but very mildly. The travel trailer brakes normally on my other vehicle. There are no fault codes and no obvious connection issues. The dealership today said they do no know the cause and would likely be unable to resolve it.

Brakes became completely unoperational and brake lights on dashboard lit up at same time. Luckily it happened coming out of my garage and not while on road or highway.

I connected the 7-pin trailer wire of my 16' tandem axle enclosed trailer with electric brakes to my pickup. I checked the lights on the trailer. All functioned correctly. I got into my pickup to drive. The integrated trailer brake controller was smoking and getting hot. No error messages popped up on the dashboard. I pulled the fuse for the trailer brake module to prevent the integrated trailer brake module from melting or catching fire. Upon searching the internet, this appears to be a problem with my model year (2015 F-150). Ford dealership re-programs the trailer brake module. This needs to be addressed before the brake controller fails and could potentially catch fire. It also could cause an accident, because the electric trailer brakes will lock up or cease to engage.

While driving on a highway, the low brake fluid light came on. When I went to stop, the brake paddle went to the floor and I was finally able to get stopped. I opened up the brake fluid reservoir and it was empty. I looked to see if I could find the leak and could not see any signs of a leak. After filling the brake reservoir, I started to make my way home checking the brake fluid level every time I stop. While going up a hill, the engine stopped and a big cloud of white smoke came out of the exhaust pipe and under the hood. The truck was towed the a repair shop where it was said that the engine through a rod. The brake reservoir was empty again also. The truck was traded in at Coccia Ford dealer ship in Wilkes-Barre , PA.

the truck has been acting up for several months now. it has been throwing out strange codes when attempting to start {parking brake malfunction, oil light, power train system default, ect} and often times it WILL NOT CRANK unless we hook it up to a battery charger for just a bit of time. Front left brake line ruptured suddenly. Defective part in possession and available for inspection if needed. Brake line ruptured at the rubber just below the metal fitting closest to the engine. This instant and unforeseen failure resulted in an immediate loss of vehicle brakes endangering the occupants of the vehicle as well as other nearby motorist. This part has yet to be inspected by any agency. After a complete loss of brakes, a warning message illuminated on the dash displaying “brake fluid level low”.

I was towing my RV trailer behind my F150. When I backed into my campsite, I was about to pull the trailer onto wood blocks for leveling, when it felt like I had hit a curb or something solid when I tried to move ahead or back. My wife watched the wheels on the trailer and noticed they were all locked up (she took video). The suspension on the trailer flexed when I tried to gently go ahead or back. On 8/11/2022, I experience brake failure. Upon exiting a parking deck, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor of the vehicle. There was no pressure in the brake system. Each time I depressed the brake, the pedal went all the way to the floor. Fortunately, I was able to pump the brake enough to stop the vehicle. I proceeded very slowly and was able to drive to the nearest service facility. Upon inspection by Kedron Tire and Automotive (Peachtree City, GA) I was told that the brake hose on the passenger side had ruptured. They said that they had not seen this before in a late model vehicle such as mine. I had them replace both hoses, the one on the passenger and driver side. There were no warning lights or messages.

I had recall work completed for master cylinder replacement at 57,242 miles (2-2-22) and at 57,671 miles (7-1-22) the front left break line blows out with no warning. 2/11/22.While at a complete stop, foot on brake, my truck started creeping forward and I kept pushing on the brake and I couldn't stop until my truck ran into the back of a semi trailer. After shutting truck off, and starting again, it appeared to work again. My 7 year old grand daughter was with me and she heard me yelling, "I can't stop, I can't stop". This issue is about high pressure (D.O.T. safety regulated) brake line going to the right caliper, this line ruptured for no reason. This ruptured high pressure line was noticed & replaced during the Master Safety Recall (20S31/NHTSA 20V-332) repair completed on 04-06-2021. The vehicle had 58,616 miles at the time of the high pressure brake line was replaced, the high pressure brake line is not a wear item such as Front Hub, Drums, Shoes, Linings, Disc Rotors, & Pads. These wear items are listed in my Premium Care Ford Motor Company extended warranty as not being covered, the high pressure brake line is not listed as an exclusion as a covered warranty part. Significant leak in vacuum pump for brakes causing difficulty breaking.

WHEN I APPLIED BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT TO THE FLOOR . I DROVE TO FORD DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED AGAIN BEFORE I GOT HOME. FORD SERVICE TECHNITION SAID THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR THIS PROBLEM.

MOVING MY TRUCK INTO LANE OF TRAFFIC OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY; WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND THE ON BOARD NOTIFICATION SYSTEM ON THE DASH STATED "LOW BRAKE FLUID" AND I HAD ALMOST NO BRAKING CAPABILITY. I HAD NO INDICATION OF THIS PRIOR TO THAT AND IF I HAD NOT APPLIED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE ON I WOULD HAVE ENTERED THE LANE OF TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES WERE COMING FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS AND IT VERY EASILY COULD HAVE TURNED INTO AN MVA WITH INJURIES SUSTAINED BOTH IN MY TRUCK AND PERSONS DRIVING ON MY STREET. I STILL HAVE NO BRAKES AND I HAVE FILLED MY RESERVOIR WITH DOT 4 BRAND NEW BOTTLE OF BRAKE FLUID.

THE BRAKING SYSTEM COMPLETELY FAILED WITH VIRTUALLY NO WARNING. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE "LOW BRAKE FLUID" LIGHT APPEARED. THERE HAD BEEN NO MECHANICAL SIGNS OF ANY ISSUES. WHEN I EXITED THE INTERSTATE THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A STOP WITHOUT HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME ON THE OFF RAMP. FORD HAS NOW RELEASED A RECALL ON THIS BUT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX IT YET. I'M NOT SURE IF OR WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO FOR MY VEHICLE BUT I WANTED TO FILE THE REPORT GIVEN THE EXTREME RISK THIS FAILURE POSES. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO NOT END UP IN A COLLISION.

MY TRUCK WAS SERVICED WITH COMPLETE FLUIDS AND SYSTEMS CHECK ON JULY 2ND, 2020 REPORTING EVERYTHING IN THE GREEN CHECK ZONE.
