Consumer Description
On Sunday, September 4th 2022 around 8:30PM , I was returning from a camping trip with my girlfriend. We were about 20 minutes away from home. We had the bed of the truck packed with our camping materials. Suddenly the low break fluid began to chime and warn us that it's low. I was driving my truck at the time. I was driving on the freeway going I-5 South. I was not aware of my safety being compromised by this warning my truck issued. As i was approaching a vehicle in front of me, i began to make the effort to slow my truck down so i would not get to close to the vehicle in front. As soon as i attempted to slow down, my brakes did not function as they properly should. Because my brakes did not function properly, this caused me to fully engage my breaks by pushing the break in as far as the truck allowed me to. Although i was fully engaging my breaks to reduce my speed, it was not enough to avoid a collision. I then had to engage the emergency breaks to slow down my speed. The break malfunction caused me to panic and fear for our safety. This incident almost caused me to collide & rear end the vehicle that was in front of me. I then decided to continue driving at a speed of 55MPH with my hazard lights to get my girlfriend and i home safely. I have done research on what may be the cause of my break malfunction. I found Ford issued a recall, Number 20S31. Their description of the recall explained exactly what happened to me. I'm unsure why my VIN number does not fall under their recall category. I believe their problem is larger than they anticipated. Someone who is unaware of this could definitely cause a life threatening situation to themselves and others. I personally do not feel 100% driving my truck at this time. I will be taking my truck to my local Ford Dealership to get my truck back on the road. Please look further into this safety issue further & assure Ford is taking proper measures for their customers safety.
