2015 FORD F-150 Wheels Problems

1.What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I really thought that it was me, the one that caused this problem by gently pressing the gas pedal when the transmission was downshifting and approaching a traffic light is when this condition always occurred and the transmission was kicking or having dificulties of downshifting. 2.How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? NO 3.Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? NO 4.Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? NO 5.Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO My truck have less than 40,000 miles.

gears dropped fast on the highway, rpm's went up because my foot was on gas because I was on the highway, rear end locked up and I skidded going from 60MPH to 30 in a second.

LR wheel fell off on Hwy 40. Shop that towed us in and fixed the problem said probably caused by swollen lugs nuts and subsequent torquing issue.

Replaced lug nuts that had swollen and was not removable with standard socket at repair shop to repair flat tire. Chrome lugs with dissimilar metals caused the swelling. Unable to change tires to deal with roadside emergencies.

Could not remove the lug nuts. They did not fit in the lug wrench. They had to be hammered off.

Defective lug nuts came on my truck which I bought new in 2015. The Bradenton Auto Nation Ford dealership says that they can’t rotate my tires due to the swollen, defective lug nuts even though I paid for that with my oil change. I feel it is Ford’s responsibility to replace these defective parts to keep my truck safe and drivable in the future. There should be a recall for this issue.

My wheel lug nuts are swollen and a lug nut wrench will not fit on them. This appears to be a manufacturing defect which has been reported by many F150 owners.

Swollen Lug Nuts at just under 47,000 miles requiring replacement by Ford with the same faulty Lug Nuts at my expense for $156.00. No recall per Ford. They will need to replaced again at some point. Faulty design !!!

Some factory installed lug nuts swelled and deformed. This made some difficult to remove with tire iron and needed additional tools, and some impossible to know if they were tightened correctly afterwards. A lug nut socket would not fit correctly so a torque wrench could not be used to tell if nuts were tightened to spec.

2015 F150, has a 6 bolt pattern. Ford dealer on oil changes and rotating of tires, uses and impact which rolls the chrome cover over and could not get the factory lug wrench on without using a 5 pound hammer, I just happened to have with me. Ford Dealership Service Representative advised me that when attempting to rotate my tires, they notice the lug nuts were swollen. They advised me that I would need to purchase new lug nuts if I would like to have the tires rotated. The cost would be over $100. I researched this online and many sites star that this is a common defect in Ford Lug nuts.

While taking my vehicle to the Fred Beans Ford Dealer in Langhorne, PA for an oil service I was advised all my lug nuts must be replaced. The advisor reported they were all swollen and some are stripped in the rear. I see now that many other consumers report the same failures from the lug nuts with two metal components installed at the factory on newly issued Ford and other car manufacturers. Ford offered to replace mine for $337.55. I purchased replacements for 61.43 and with a tip at my tire store the costs were totaling 71.43. Unable to remove lug nuts with lug nut wrench provided with vehicle. Lug nut wrench does not fit over lug nut head.

LUG NUTS are distorted. They won't allow the lug wrench that comes with the vehicle to remove or tighten them. I was unable to remove a wheel after tire went flat due to 2 of the nuts warping and not able to find ANY wrench that would work. I had to grind those 2 lug nut "caps" down with an angle grinder (scuffing the alloy wheel) and then chisel the caps sides down far enough to get a 20mm socket on the nut beneath the "cap". I cannot use this F-150 until I find replacement one piece lug nuts to fit. I will not put the crappy capped nuts back on this vehicle. Ford may have saved nickles, but going cheap on something so vital will cost them many future customers, including me.

Told 02/01/ 2018 at a Ford Dealership that all my lug nuts were swollen due to the alloy that Ford Motor Company used on the 2015 model. They recommended I replace all lug nuts due to not being able to remove them in case of a flat tire. I replaced all lug nuts thinking this problem was corrected and that the parts used were better or improved parts. On Feb 11, 2021, I was told again my lug nuts were swollen. I informed them I had them replaced and the tech said, "Ok." On October 12, 2021, I was told again that the lug nuts were swollen and needed to be replaced. MALLOY FORD IN WINCHESTER, VA JUST NOTIFIED ME THAT THEY RECOMMEND THAT THE NEXT TIME THE WHEELS ARE REMOVED THAT ALL 24 OF THE LUG NUTS BE REPLACED FOR $160.00. I KNOW FROM MY PREVIOUS 2009 FORD F150 THAT THE LUG NUTS ARE MADE IN TWO PIECES AND THAT THEY CORRODE AND EXPAND AND EVENTUALLY THE SOCKET WRENCH WILL NOT FIT THE NUT. THE TRUCK SEEMS TO BE RUBBING AND SHAKING. SOMEONE SAID MAKE THE HUBS AND BEARINGS

DESIGN FLAW IN VISTA SUNROOF ON SUPERCREW TRUCKS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO LEAK. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT BUT REQUIRES A $1200-$1500 REPAIR FEE. IN ADDITION, KNOWN FLAW IN LUG NUTS EXPANDING TO POINT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO REMOVE WHEELS. COAT TO REPLACE ANOTHER KNOWN DEFECT IS $14 PER LUG NUT.MAJOR ISSUES SHOULD BE COVERED WHEN RELATED TO LOCKED WHEELS AND WATER LEAKAGE INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT DURING OPERATION.

I TOOK IT BACK TO FORD FOR REPAIR, THEY REPLACED ALL LUG NUTS FROM CLOSED CAP TO OPEN FACE, I ASKED ABOUT LUG NUT CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ANT THEY HAD NO COMMENT.

ALL LUG NUTS ARE SWELLING- HARD TO GET OFF. TECH TOLD ME IT WILL GET TO POINT I WILL HAVE TO HAVE THEM ALL REPLACED AND IF I WERE TO GET A FLAT TIRE THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET ANY OF THEM OFF AT THIS POINT.

ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE A FLAT ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE LUG NUTS OFF BECAUSE THE FORD STANDARD WRENCH SUPPLIED WITH THE JACK KIT IS TOO SMALL AND WOULDN'T FIT ONTO THE NUTS EVEN WHEN TRYING TO FORCE IT ON BY BANGING ON IT WITH A ROCK. I WAS LEFT STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS WAITING FOR AAA TO BRING THE CORRECT SIZED SOCKET. THE AAA SERVICE MAN SAID THAT HE HAD TO USE A 7/8 SOCKET. THIS SITUATION PUT ME IN UNNECESSARY DANGER AND IS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO OPEN RECALL AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO HAVE A FORD DEALERSHIP LOOK AT THE ISSUE. THEY ALSO SAID I WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE TO PAY FOR A CORRECTLY SIZED LUG NUT WRENCH.

LUG NUTS ON TRUCK GET SWOLLEN AND THE DEALER COULD NOT GET THE LUG NUTS OFF OF THE TRUCK. I HAD TO BUY TWELVE NEW LUG NUTS AT MY COST. THEY REPLACED WITH THE SAME LUG NUTS. IF YOU BREAK DOWN AND THE LUG NUTS ARE SWOLLEN YOU CAN NOT GET YOUR TIRE OFF TO CHANGE IT. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED, FORD WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE PART.

2015 FORD F-150 WHEELS GET STUCK ON THE HUBS VERY QUICKLY AND EASILY. WITH BOTH THE ALUMINUM SUMMER RIMS AND STEEL WINTER RIMS. THE REMOVAL OF THE WHEELS TAKE EXCESSIVE FORCE TO COMPLETE, MUCH MORE THAN WHAT THE VEHICLE'S INCLUDED JACK CAN HANDLE ON ROADSIDE. CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY COSTLY WHEN CHANGING A FLAT TIRE.
