RANDOMLY THE STEERING LOCKS UP AND LOSES POWER STEERING - USUALLY ON A TURN LEFT AND RIGHT - ISSUE LASTS 2 TO 5 SECONDS AND THEN RETURNS TO POWER STEERING. A HILL DECENT FAILURE WARNING LIGHT APPEARS AND THEN A SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNING LIGHT. ALSO FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE BEING APPLIED AUTOMATICALLY. VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC.
WHEN I WAS BACKING MY F150 OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY I HEARD A LOUD SQUEALING SOUND WHEN I TURNED MY STEERING WHEEL. THIS CAUSED A STABLE TRAC LIGHT, A HILL DECENT LIGHT, AND A POWER STEERING LIGHT. I CLICKED ON THE OK BUTTON TO CLEAR ALL THREE FAULTS ON THE DASH BECAUSE THE TRUCK SEAMED TO WORKING PROPERLY. AS I DROVE TO WORK A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BREAKS AND WHEN I WENT TO REACT THE POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND OR DEATH TO ME AND MY KIDS. THE POWER STEERING DID COME BACK AND WORKED FOR A FEW DAYS THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN A CAR TURNED IN FRONT OF ME AND WHEN I SWERVED TO MISS A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK THE POWER STEERING FAILED YET AGAIN....

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,044.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, HAD TO PULL OVER AND GET THE TRUCK TOWED. CONTACTED LOCAL FORD DEALER, THEY ADVISED REPLACING THE ELECTRIC RACK AND PINION FOR ABOUT $1900. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN, HOWEVER FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS MODEL YET.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT AND SEVERAL OTHER UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE AND WAS LATER TAKEN TO COGGIN DELAND FORD LOCATED AT (2655 N VOLUSIA AVE, ORANGE CITY, FL 32763) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN RESET THE COMPUTER AND PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE STEERING GEAR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

KEEP GETTING SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK WARNING WHICH DISABLES TURN SIGNAL, TRUCK MUST BE TURNED OFF AND BACK ON BUR WARNING KEEPS COMING BACK DISABLING TURN SIGNAL. THROUGH RESEARCH THIS IS VERY COMMON AND DANGEROUS.

THE STEERING FAILURE MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AND OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH THE RACK AND PINION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MATTHEWS FORD (175 EAST MAIN, NORWICH, NY 13815) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
FIRST INCIDENT, EXITING THE HIGHWAY, SLOWED DOWN, SUDDENLY HAD NO STEERING CONTROL OND THE DASH LIT UP WITH "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". I BARELY AVOIDED AN UPCOMING VEHICLE AS I ATTEMPTED TO MERGE AND AVOID HITTING A CONCRETE WALL. I MANAGED TO MANHANDLE THE TRUCK TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. STOPPED. TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. RESTARTED. PROBLEM GONE. SECOND INCIDENT: 4 DAYS LATER. TURNED INTO MY WORK PARKING LOT, WAS MANEUVERING AROUND SOME PARKED VEHICLES AND SUDDENLY SAME EXACT THING HAPPENS AND I ALMOST WRECKED AGAIN. I SHIFT THE ENGINE OFF AND THIS TIME WHEN I STARTED IT, IT SAYS SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NOW. I MANAGED TO PARK IT SOMEWHAT IN A SPOT AND IT IS STILL SITTING THERE AT WALMART (MY WORK) BEHIND THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM. I DID CONTACT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD IF I WANTED TO DRIVE IT IN AND PAY 108...
THE POWER STEERING ON MY TRUCK INTERMITTENTLY FAILS AND COMES BACK CAUSING DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING AND NAVIGATING THE VEHICLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
WHILE DRIVING POWER STEERING SHUT OFF AND GOT A WARNING ON INSTRUMENT PANEL STATING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. STOPPED VEHICLE TURNED OFF ENGINE, RESTARTED AND PROBLEM WENT AWAY. LATER IN DAY WHILE ON HIGHWAY SAME ISSUE OCCURRED CAUSING VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND CONTROL VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST AND NOT HYDRAULIC.
I DROVE THE TRUCK FROM HOME TO WORK AND AROUND SCHOOL ZONE WHICH IS A CITY STREET. I PULLED OVER BECAUSE CHILDREN WERE GETTING OUT OF SCHOOL WHEN I TRY TO FIX THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE WALK I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO ALIGN THE TRUCK ,ALL OF A SUDDEN IT GOT LOCKED .NO ONE GOT HIT!! BUT, IT WAS SCARY. DID NOT EXPECT THIS TO HAPPENED. THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT TURN LEFT OR RIGHT. SO, AAA TOWED THE TRUCK TO 15505 ROSCOE GALPIN SERVICE AT NORTH HILLS SO,THEY CAN CHECK THE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM IT HAD TWO RECENTLY RECALLS AND THEY SAID IS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM . AND SAID IT'S GOING TO COST ME 1670 DLS. ALSO, THE DISPLAY SHOWED SERVICE ADVANCED TRAC . WHEN IT HAPPENED.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RACK AND PINION AND SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE GAUGES AND RPMS UNEXPECTEDLY WENT INTO A LOWER GEAR. THE STEERING WHEEL THEN CEASED AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE CONTROLLED, ALONG WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO OPERATE WHILE SHUTTERING AND THE LASTLY THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE SIDE AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY BUT THE FRONTAL AIRBAGS DID NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A IMPOUND LOT AFTER BEING TOTALED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE CONTACTS SPOUSE WAS THE ONLY PERSON INJURED IN THE CRASH. THE HUSBAND SUSTAINED A BACK INJURY, NUMBNESS, TINGLING IN HIS LEGS, AND A CONCUSSION. THE SPOUSE WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM FOR HIS INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IN THE EPAS UNIT HAS RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING IN MY 2013 FORD F-150. VEHICLE HAS 63,000 MILES AND HAS NO ACCIDENTS AND HAS NOT BEEN SUBJECT TO ABNORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE PROBLEM PRESENTED ITSELF WHEN THE WEATHER BECAME COLD DURING THE FALL OF 2019. WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES DROPPED BELOW 65 DEGREES AND I STARTED MY VEHICLE I RECEIVED A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" WARNING AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE POWER STEERING. TESTING OVER A 4 WEEK PERIOD AS THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATED BETWEEN 40-80 DEGREES ALLOWED ME TO SEE THE CONNECTION TO THE POWER STEERING FAILURE AND THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS CLOSE TO, BUT DID NOT EXCEED 65 DEGREES. I COULD START MY VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT AROUND, THE HEAT FROM THE ENGINE WOULD WARM THE UNIT ENOUGH TO ALLOW IT TO WORK. ALL I NEEDED TO...
EPAS (ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIT STERRING) SENSOR FAILED, ELECTRONIC STEERING FAILS AND ACTS IF THERE IS NO POWER STEERING CAUSING VERY DIIFFICULT MANUVERING. THS COULD EASILY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT OR FATALITY. SEVERAL ON-LINE COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT.
POWER STEERING IS STARTING TO FAIL. THE SYMPTOMS ARE DIFFICULTY IN TURNING, WHEELS NOT RETURNING TO CENTER AFTER A TURN, COMPLETE POWER STEERING FAILURE. I UNDERSTAND PARTS BREAK BUT BUT HAVING TO REPLACE A MAJOR PART OF THE STEERING PACKAGE IS VERY POOR DESIGN.

THIS TRUCK IS IN IMMACULATE SHAPE AND HAS 67,000 MILES ON IT. STEERING SHOULD NOT BE FAILING. PLEASE GET A RECALL GOING ON THIS BEFORE SOMEONE DIES I ALSO HAD A WHEEL STUD/BOLT SHEER OFF TWO WEEKS BACK.

THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.

POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT TEMPORARILY, LEAVING NO OPTION BUT TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK, AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. DEALERSHIP STATED THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THIS BEING AN ELECTRONIC SYSTEM. WHEN RESEARCHING, IT APPEARS MANY OTHER FORD VEHICLES HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE, AND NOT JUST WITH F150S. OTHER YEARS WERE RECALLED DUE TO THIS SAME ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING DESIGN, JUST NOT MY YEAR. APPEARS THIS IS THE SAME FAULTY DESIGN.
THE ELECTRIC STEERING ACTUATOR IS MAKING A SQUEALING SOUND AND THE STEERING WHEEL JERKS A LITTLE WHEN UNWINDING OUT OF A TURN LIKE IT WAS BINDING.

INFAMOUS FORD DEATH WOBBLE FOR THE SECOND TIME ON THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN THE EARLY PERIOD OF OWNERSHIP. IT WAS FIXED. IN FEBRUARY, THE DEATH WOBBLE STARTED AGAIN. THE TRUCK HAS 182,000 MILES ON IIT. I HAVE SPENT $3,000 AT GOODYEAR GETTING MOST OF THE FRONT END COMPONENTS REPLACED BEFORE THEY THREW THERE HANDS UP AND COULD NOT FIX IT. I AM PRESENTLY $1,100 INTO REPAIR AT TOMBALL FORD. THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE TRUCKS AND I DO NOT KNOW WHY THE NHTSA IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

I WAS ABLE TO RECOVER AND CONTINUE STEERING USING MY BODY WEIGHT TO ASSIST IN STEERING WHICH WAS VERY DIFFICULT. THE POWER STEERING WOULD THEN BEGIN TO WORK AGAIN, HOWEVER IT WOULD CONTINUE TO FAIL INTERMITTENTLY, SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY POWER STEERING UNIT ITSELF WAS FINE, HOWEVER IT HAD A FAULTY SENSOR THAT WAS CAUSING THE UNIT TO INTERMITTENTLY FAIL. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSOR WAS UNREACHABLE AND THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLACE IT, SO I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE AND HAVE THEM INSTALL A BRAND NEW POWER STEERING UNIT. THIS COST ME AROUND $2000 TO REPLACE A POWER STEERING UNIT THAT WAS DESIGNED...
WAS DRIVING AND THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP RECEIVED A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CODE , SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC CODE, & DOWNHILL CODE. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT TURN LEFT OR RIGHT VERY DANGEROUS. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER PICKED UP MY TRUCK HE STATED I WAS THE 4TH FORD HE'S TOWED WITH THESE SAME ISSUE. LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW MULTIPLE PAGES IN REGARDS TO THE SAME ISSUES. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE MECHANICS AND FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR OTHER VEHICLES FOR THE SAME ISSUE.
SERIOUS VIBRATION AT OR AROUND 45 TO 70MPH . STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION , FRONT END VIBRATION . USUALLY AROUND THE TIME THE TRANSMISSION TEMP HITS THE NORMAL TEMP TRUCK STARTS VIBRATING . USUALLY STARTS AT 40MPH AND GETS WORST WITH HIGHER MPH . BOUGHT THE TRUCK BACK IN NOV OF 2018 ALL WAS FINE TILL ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO WHEN THE VIBRATION STARTED . NOT VERY HAPPY.
I WAS DRIVING AND MADE A RIGHT TURN AND THE POWER STEERING GAVE OUT FOR A FEW SECONDS. THEN ONCE I STRAIGHTENED BACK OUT I COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BUT CAN HAPPEN WHEN TURNING EITHER WAY.

IN MOTION, ANY ROAD CONDITION, TURNING AND NOT TURNING ANY SPEED. AFTER READING HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS BELIEVE THE PROBLEM TO BE THE STEERING GEARBOX.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING TURNS OR PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SPORADIC, BUT WAS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. I MANAGED TO CONTROL THE TRUCK AND GET IT TURNED AROUND AND BACK TO MY HOUSE WITHOUT PROBLEM, BUT COULD ONLY IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD I BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. AFTER RESEARCH, I SAW THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SOME RECALLS BUT MY TRUCK WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPAIRED IT FOR $2300. SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN. CALLED COMPLAINT LINE AT THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY PAID $700 OF THE $2300 WHICH WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR, BUT STILL FEEL THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED AS A RECALL ISSUE AND THEREFORE NO CHARGE TO US. THE MESSAGE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAIL" MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND WAS VERY HARD TO DRIVE VEHICLE AND TO NEGOTIATE TURNS TO GET HOME FROM WORK ON FRIDAY EVENING, 6/7/2019. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER ON SATURDAY AND HAVE NOT HEARD BACK.

ALL OF THE SUDDEN STEERING GOT HARD TO TURN. IT DOESN'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. AND WHEN WE CALLED THE DEALER THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS DOING. SAME THING THE 2014S WERE RECALLED FOR.

I'VE FOUND LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE, BUT NOTHING IS BEING DONE. SOMEONE COULD'VE EASILY BEEN KILLED. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE REPAIR, AND I STILL WON'T FEEL TOTALLY SAFE IN MY VEHICLE ANYMORE KNOWING THAT THIS CAN RANDOMLY HAPPEN AT ANYTIME.

ON 4/2/19 WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 50 MPH, ALL AT ONCE, THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO 0, AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE TRUCK STARTED RUNNING AN IDLING ROUGH. WHEN WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION WE WERE PLANNING ON CALLING ON SOMEONE TO PICK US UP. WE STARTED THE TRUCK TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE WAY, AND IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL. WE DROVE HOME NO PROBLEMS. SERVICE ADVANCETRAC, POWER STEERING FAILURE, HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT LIGHTS ALL COME ON AND POWER STEERING HAS STOPPED WORKING. PREVIOUSLY THESE WOULD COME ON AS SOON AS THE TRUCKS STARTED, LIGHTS COME ONE, SHUT TRUCK OFF, RESTARTED TRUCK AND LIGHTS WENT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. THIRD TIME LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT WHILE TRAVELING DOWN INTERSTATE.
