There is a recall out for Ford vehicles for the pillars outside of the windshield, mine flew off the windshield while driving in the interstate. I called ford trying to schedule an appointment because the same thing happened to my boyfriend’s grandma and she told me there was a recall. I was informed that my vin was not apart of the safety recall for whatever reason. The car is available for inspection upon request. I feel as if my car repair should be covered because it clearly is not a safe model of the 2015 ford explorer and the same thing is happening with other vehicles that are covered under the recall.
Backup camera picture is distorted if it works at all. There is a recall on this part (25v695). Contacted dealership and said that it only pertains to a mustang for this month.
I was on the highway when the passenger side Exterior A-Pillar Applique Trim had detached from the SUV. There was a car behind me, not close at all, and the thing almost hit that car. No one got hurt but the driver and myself both were visibly upset. No police or emergency services were needed. As stated in my previous complaint, I have horrible anxiety issues. When that happened, I had an anxiety attack. I thought consumers were supposed to feel protected and safe in there vehicles. I am in the process of retaining legal counsel to address this safety defect and its impact that its had, twice now, on other drivers as well as myself. Kind regards, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
We have received 2 recalls. - the window pillar sheared off while driving - the rear camera stopped working These recalls are have been active for some time & have yet to be resolved. I replaced one of windshield pillars & am seeking reimbursement The rear camera we had replaced thru our vehicle warranty & am seeking reimbursement for our copay
I am filing an official safety complaint regarding my 2015 Ford Explorer Sport 3.5L due to a dangerous and sudden power-steering failure that occurred while I was driving with my children in the vehicle. There were no warning lights, alerts, or symptoms leading up to the failure. The power steering went out instantly and without any indication that something was wrong. The moment it failed, the steering wheel locked up and became extremely difficult to turn, nearly causing multiple accidents. I had children in the car at the time, and this situation created an immediate and severe safety hazard for everyone in my vehicle and on the road. After this happened, I contacted (by phone) Ford directly. Without any inspection, hesitation, or further explanation, I was immediately told that the vehicle “needs a new steering rack and pinion.” The quoted repair cost exceeds $3,000, on a vehicle I am still...
The odometer has been tampered with. Per the CARFAX the last reported odometer reading was at 218,737, and now it reads 160,000. We just bought the car today and are figuring this out afterwards. We have all the evidence. Please contact me as this has never happened to us and we do not know what to do.
When accelerating and braking, motor rocks forward and backwards. Rpms jump erratically when this happens and when sitting stationary at a light or stop sign. Which causes the entire vehicle to vibrate. Oddly enough, fuel injector cleaner seems to help with the vehicle shaking somewhat.
My backup camera keeps going out and now it’s gone completely out. If it does come up it’s backwards with no assist line and constantly beeping. There are recalls for this same situation with almost all other fords 2015-2019 I think and immune is doing the same exact thing and no recalls???
I have been having issues with my vehicle's backup camera for about 3-4 years. Initially, the backup camera rarely went black when I reversed so I was not very concerned Over the years, it has worsened that now every time I drive the camera goes black at least once when I drive my car. There has been no incident due to the camera issue; however, I have had some close calls due to the backup camera not working. The warning beep does work when the backup camera does not. A couple years ago I did inquire about a recall which there was none so instead I asked dealership for a quote on the cost of replacing the camera which was very expensive. I did not not replace it at the time due to the cost and do not foresee doing so in the future for that reason. I learned about...
Rear Camera not working properly, Dashboard screen starts rapidly flickering when vehicle put in reverse. Unable to see if anything is behind vehicle.
Backup camera not functioning properly (goes black in the middle of backing up and says “contact dealership”). I saw an article online that my car may have been affected by the backup camera recall. I brought my car to the dealership and they said my VIN was not affected but I have the problems listed. I contacted Ford and reported this with Customer Care Department (Case #: CXH-05669623-J5P1M4). They said that’s all I can do. I have small children all under the age of 5 and fear backing up in my driveway. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I SEE THEY ARE RECALLING BACKUP CAMERAS ON FORD EXPLORERS MINE HAS NOT WORKED PROPERLY FOR YEARS. WHEN BACKING UP THE CAMERA SHOWS OBJECTS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF CAR ON THE RIGHT AND VICE VERSA. EXAMPLE IF IM BACKING UP AND A CAR IS COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR IN PARKING LOT IT SHOWS IT COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE. IT ALSO STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES SHOWS AND BLACK SCREEN AND DISTORTED IMAGES. THE DATE BELOW IS JUST THIS REPORT DATE BECAUSE I CAN'T SUBMIT WITHOUT
My backup camera is reversing or going blank intermittently . It even turned upside down one time. Ford says I am not included in the recent recall, yet I have the same problem that is being recalled.
For about the last 3 years, whenever the car is put into reverse, the rear backup camera is intermittently going blank. The camera eventually will display the image, but it can be several seconds before the camera view resumes. The Ford dealership wants to charge about $700 to replace the entire camera, but I don't think the camera is the issue given that so many recalls have been issued over the exact same issue. There have been multiple recalls issued by Ford for the same issue, but I can't find one on the 2015 Ford Explorer-Limited line.
1. Component/System Failure: The water pump on my 2016 Ford Explorer failed, causing a significant antifreeze leak. The component is available for inspection upon request. 2. Safety Risk: The failure creates a risk of engine seizure while driving. Loss of engine coolant can cause the engine to overheat suddenly, potentially leading to a dangerous situation on the road that could harm myself or other drivers. 3. Confirmation of Problem: The problem has been confirmed by the dealer service department during inspection. The water pump leak was observed and diagnosed by a certified Ford service technician. 4. Inspections: The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer. I have also documented prior repairs to the vehicle, including a timing chain replacement two years ago. The water pump issue has not yet been inspected by Ford corporate. 5. Warning Lamps/Symptoms: Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps on the dashboard. I...
The backup camera only works intermittently. Sometimes there will be a black screen that says somethings wrong and to contact the dealer but this has been an issue for the past couple years or so. I saw there was a recall for many other for vehicles of this age for the backup camera but not for the Explorer. I was shocked when I didn’t see it was included.
REAR BACK UP CAMERA IMAGE IS REVERSED NOT ALWAYS IN COLOR CAMERA STAYS ON ONCE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE FOR SOMETIMES UP TO 20 SECONDS IMAGE IS NOT DISPLAYED AT ALL TIMES WHEN IN REVERSE AND WHEN THIS HAPPENS, WITHIN 24 HOURS THERE IS A 'SYSTEM UPDATE' THAT AFFECTS INFOTAINMENT SCREEN INCLUDING BLUETOOTH
My back up camera doesn't work all the time. It is very intermittent.
Rear backup camera does not function. Either gives a blank image or a flipped/reversed image or a very grainy image. It has been properly inoperable for years, since at least 10/1/2022. Why were Explorers not included in recall 25V57200? The cameras were the same as the Edge and Expedition which were included, and I believe the same for the Mustang.
Rear back up camera is glitching in and out and at times goes completely black or won’t come in at all once put in reverse
The current recall of ford backup cameras including this year but not this vehicle type almost exactly matches what happens with this rear view camera. Either is blacks out completely or when it is on it shows the lines curving when In fact you are going straight and the picture can be extremely blurry as well.
The exterior A-pillar trim part is loose causing water to leak through. You can hear/feel the air in the corner of the windshield as the SUV is moving. I have tried several times since receiving this recall notice in FEBRUARY 2024 to get this fixed and replaced through FORD. Each time brought my car in for service over the past 18 months, I was told that the part was not available but was on back order. In the meantime, water and moisture gets through causing a smell and mold. This is a health and safety issue. How do I get this repaired?
While driving with the ac on you can smell exhaust fumes in the cabin and it's worse towards the rear carbin of the vehicle. I've gotten nauseated and sleepy from the fumes and have had several headaches in addition to the other symptoms. Ford needs to recall this issue. Also I have an active recall for the window pillars and the dealership says they still dont have the parts to fix it, and it's been over a year, what's the hold up Ford??!!
The back up camera only works occasionally because of the height of vehicle it is difficult to back up safely . Sometimes the camera works and other times it sends a message to contact the dealer
THE EXTERIOR A-PILLAR APPLIQUE TRIM CLIP ATTACHMENTS ON BOTH SIDES OF MY VEHICHLE HAVE LIFTED OFF THE VEHICHLE AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS FAILED OR HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REMEDY THIS SAFETY RECALL IN A TIMELY MANNER.
This has happened multiple dates. I can't enter that on the next screen. Probably started 9+ months ago. My backup camera goes blank and then back on sporadically. Sometimes, when I put in reverse and sometimes when I'm in the middle of reversing. Sometimes for a couple of seconds (or more) and sometimes until I change gears and go back to reverse. I see there is a recall for some Ford explorer years and was wondering why the 2015 wasn't included. My issues sound similar to the recalled years. Putting in notice in case there are more 2015s like me experiencing likewise issues. Thank you for taking the time to review my issue. My back up camera will work then it stops working as im backing up and says unavailable contact dealer
My vehicle’s backup camera does not work about 98% of the time and a black screen will show up with a message saying it is not working. Once in a great while it will actually work.
My backup camera is malfunctioning. 1st incident I was backing out of a parking spot, and the camera screen just blacked out, and 2 pedestrians were walking behind my car, and the 2 seconds later the car started beeping, warning me of the pedestrians, I almost hit them. 2nd time i was backing out of my parking spot at work, and a coworker was walking behind my car, the camera gave me a warning that the camera was malfunctioning, and then started beeping like crazy, but the camera did not turn on. 3rd time i was backing out at a store, and a car just flew by narrowly missing me, and the camera did not turn on, My camera has been malfunctioning off and on now.
Malfunction of rear view camera, available upon request. When in reverse the camera will go black and read "Camera is Unavailable. Please contact your dealership." It will not attempt to show a live picture until placed back into park and into reverse again. Often it will not function correctly even after that. It now happens almost constantly to the point it is completely unreliable. The fear of endangering someone or something by relying on a rear view camera that I know could malfunction at any moment, is too great. The problem was witnessed by a Ford Dealership mechanic who was repairing the recall on the frame piece to the windshield. The mechanic attempted to resolve the issue by resetting/updating the display, but unfortunately the problem continues. No other representatives, police, insurance, etc have witnesses the issue. There are never any warnings the issue may occur.
The first complaint references Recall 24V031. I received a notice dated February 2024 to correct this issue. It is now June 2025 and my dealer still does not have the parts. The trim pieces have come apart and flap while driving. I just don't think 18 months with no remedy is acceptable especially when it could cause a safety hazard. The second complaint with this vehicle is the door trim. It appears to be stitched however has come apart for years now. The dealership said that Ford could be putting a recall on but hasn't happened. A quick search online shows that many explorers has had the same issue.
Backup camera either shows black screen, or a warming box appears stating to see dealership. Will work intermittently.
Drivers side A Post windshield trim piece came flying off vehicle while driving on the highway. I just learned that Ford came out with a recall on this part almost 1 & 1/2 years ago and they have still not fixed or remedied this condition. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I am now worried that the passenger side trim piece will come off next, potentially causing an accident or additional hazard on the roadway. I went to my local Ford dealer and was told by the service department that there is nothing they can do, due to not having any parts available and to check back in late summer.
The back up camera works on and off. I nearly hit a person when the camera suddenly stopped working. Thank goodness I was backing up very slowly and the guy knocked in my rear window.
The rear backup camera is either a blank black screen, or has distorted display. The directional guides do not display combined with a reverse presentation. Sometimes displays, system is malfunctioning, contact your manufacturer.
The reverse backup camera gives a mirror view so the left side of the car appears on the right side of the screen. Making it unsafe to backup because you turn the wrong way if you go by what the camera shows you.
My backup camera does not always work. Just get a black screen
On the hood, the paint is coming off (and has been for several years). It looks like maybe where it was "clamped" (for lack of better words) while they were painting the hood and maybe the paint didn't adhere like it should. I have actually seen several 2015 Ford Explorers that have the exact same paint spots missing on their hoods. One time I almost tried to get into another Explorer because it was black and the paint was missing in the same spot and i thought it was my car. My next issue is the back up camera doesn't work more often than it does. It always says unavailable. I know there have been recalls on other Fords for the exact same reason, so not sure why 2015 Ford Explorers were excluded.
Recall number 25S42 should include 2015 Ford Explorers. The rearview camera goes blank or is distorted. It causes the driver the inability to see anything behind the vehicle if the object cannot be seen using the mirrors.
The back up camera on my explorer has been experiencing intermittent failure for about the past month. It started by occasionally losing the parking lines while I was in reverse, and has progressed to a black screen while I'm in the process of backing up. Sometimes it's just a glitchy image, and sometimes it goes in and out while in reverse. The component has not yet been inspected. There were no indications of a problem before the issue began. This is concerning because the height of the vehicle does not allow me to see objects that are directly behind the vehicle, such as the neighborhood children running around. I experienced this failure on a rainy day with low visibility and backed into a mailbox.
We received the February 2024 notice but not the July 2025 recall notice stating the parts were available. We took our vehicle in for other work during August 2024 and Helena Motors took our A-pillar appliqué trim off without notifying us. They said it was loose but we hadn’t notice that. In fact, my spouse cleaned the windshield and pillars the day before are appointment and the A-pillar trim was tight. They said they didn’t have the parts for replacement but would order them and contact us. We contacted them in September and they said the part wasn’t ordered but they would order it and let us know when it was in. This behavior has continued and we still don’t have the replacement part on the spot where they removed the part. We have been getting the runaround from Helena Motors for six and half months. CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. THEN GOT IT FIXED @FORD DEALER. DROVE FOR A WHILE THEN CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER. BACK IN THE SHOP. SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THEN THE ISSUE WAS IT NOT STARTING AT ALL WHEN I GO TO GET IN THE CAR. THESE TYPES OF SITUATIONS HAPPENED 4 TIMES SINCE JULY AND THEY KEEP REPLACING PARTS BUT NOT RESOLVING THE ISSUE! I AM TIRED OF SPENDING MY MONEY FOR NO RESOLUTION. THEY ARE DOING NOTHING BUT TAKING MY MONEY AND CHANGING PARTS THAT WERE POTENTIALLY FINE! I AM A REPEAT FORD BUYER AND ONLY HAVE 107,235 MILES THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. BUT THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY ARE MAKING ME RETHINK A 3RD PURCHASE EVER GOING FORWARD! THIS IS MY 2ND TIME FILING A REPORT I HAVE HEARD NOTHING ON THE PREVIOUS ONE FILED ON 11/22/24. THE 2015 EXPLORERS' NEED TO...
Rear Backup Camera malfunctioning for the second. Backup camera goes black and the following message appears: Camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership. Rear backup camera was replaced at my expense of $513.16 on 1/3/2022 by Ford dealership. This is presenting a safety issue and I don't feel that I should be responsible for a second replacement when recalls have been issued on other model years but not the 2015.
Recall 24V031 I received a notice in February about the recall. I have since received several notices and emails about it. Every time I call, they still don't have the part(s) to fix my vehicle and they have no estimated time for when they will get the part(s). When I looked up the recall, it was filed January 19, 2024. It is now December 2024 and still no part(s) to fix the recall. This is totally unacceptable. Ford should be held accountable for fixing the recall in a timely manner (10+ months is not timely).
On [XXX] while driving to work my car just shut off and the brakes locked up. This scenario happened again several other times even after being worked on at a Ford dealership. Please see attachment for specific dates & details. Fuel pump driver module was replaced first time then the fuel pump the last time. Explorer was inspected by the Sandy Sansing Ford Dealership in Daphne, Alabama. Only time warnings/codes appeared was when it shut off. I attached a screen shot of what the dash showed. Backup camera does not work
Reverse camera intermittently fails to operate properly, if at all.
Shifter (not transmission) intermittently fails to acknowledge when transmission is in Park. This problem is becoming more frequent than before. Attached pictures show error when door is open and transmission is not in Park ONLY when the transmission is also not in Park. The "P" on the instrument panel does not light up when I shift to Park. It takes up to a minute for the shifter to acknowledge that the transmission is in Park. If I shut the engine off before the shifter acknowledges this, I get an error that the transmission is not in Park when it in fact is. I do not remember when this problem started, only that it has been doing this for at least a year. I can tell that the transmission is in Park, even if the shifter (computer) doesn't acknowledge this.
I have contact ford dealer I. Desoto about the recall on my ford explorer the piller has came off on the driver side and the passenger side is about to come off they say they waiting on ford to send them the parts but be here around mid year and still have not heard anything from ford
Rear backup camera doesn't work anymore its been 2 years it hasn't been working please look into it and hope there's a recall for it
