2015 FORD EXPLORER Unknown Or Other Problems

The vehicle stopped while I was driving and wouldn’t accelerate when trying to push the gas pedal. The warning wrench light then appeared and said power train. Once I pulled over and cut the car off and back on it drove normal for a few miles and broke down again. My safety was impacted because the vehicle literally stopped while I was driving on a busy road.

Windshield - NHTSA Recall 24V031 I received this recall notice in February. It indicated that "when parts are available" Ford will send a follow-up communication. There has been no follow-up communication received. On [XXX] I called the local dealership (Parks Ford of Gainesville FL) and was informed that parts are not yet available. Today is 31MAY24. Rear camera intermittently fails to function.

Computer intermittently fails to acknowledge that the transmission is in Park. The vehicle is physically in Park (will not move as if it were in gear), but the computer warns that the "Transmission is Not in Park" even though it is. This is leading to battery drain due to computer incorrect error notifications. I have to wait, sometimes several minutes, for the computer to acknowledge that the transmission is indeed in Park before I shut my vehicle off to avoid this error notification. This issue has been going on for several years with no recall to fix. Since the transmission, itself, has not been the root issue, I have not sought repairs as of yet. This is a computer/software error.

My vehicle is Ford Explorer 2015. 106,000 on it. All the sealer for the door and windows are coming apart. I've never had a vehicle ever to do that less 10 years old. I've had cars, trucks and SUVs older than that and the seals stay intacted. Water comes in the front passenger side door. Drivers door disclose solidly it rattling as you drive. The sealer around the windsheild and under the A-Pilars both side have blown out. Have use black duck to insure the windshield does blow out. It's a safety and just plan bad seals.

Vehicle was being driven on the highway and due to the weather conditions (it was very windy today) out of nowhere the exterior a pillar applique trim attachment unattached and broke off. I want to speak with someone regarding this due to the fact that I received a recall NOTICE in the mail but since there has been no official recall made I cannot schedule an appointment for service with my nearest dealership and I want my vehicle fixed.

IT IS REGARDING THE RECALL- THIS PART ACTUALLY CAME OFF A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO AND I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE IT FIXED. SINCE THE REPAIR SHOP STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLACE THE TRIM ALONE AS IT WOULD COMPROMISE HOW THE WINSHIELDS WAS HELD IN THE WHOLE THING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE THE BILL FROM THAT AS WELL AS PICTURES FROM THE TRIM BEING GONE SO IS THERE ANYAY TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THAT SINCE THAT HAS BEEN LABLED A RECALL/DEFECT OF THE VEHICLE?

The driver and passenger front interior door panels are separating from the door and blocking the vision from the driver on the driver’s window and passenger window. They are also effecting the operation of the power windows from going up and down. This can definitely cause an accident which is not safe to drive. This was recalled in November 7, 2017 under 17N04 from Ford Motor Company. I am looking for these unsafe door panels to be replaced by Ford with your help.

Well my problem began AFTER I got my cat back from the dealer for taking it in to get the rear toe link recall taken care of. I have had to have this trim piece replaced twice by McMahon Ford in Norwalk ct. first time [XXX] and the second time [XXX]. Both times I have had to pay out of pocket. For over a year our 2015 Ford Explorer REAR BACKUP CAMERA malfunctions frequently. Either the image is reversed, streaky, or completely blank and makes backing up difficult and dangerous. A year ago the local Ford dealership was trying to tell us the camera is faulty, but many times the image is clear. They tried to sell us a $1,000 camera replacement, but no cameras were in stock for many months. Later, we discovered there are SIMILAR ISSUES with many other Ford vehicles. Currently there is a NHTSA campaign #23V598 targeting Fords and Lincolns. We feel this needs to be BROADENED to cover the many other Ford models, such as the Explorer. We do not think this is a camera issue, but rather a SOFTWARE issue. Please look into this and include other years and models of Fords in this recall. Thank you very much for your consideration.

The window trim came off while I was going 60mph. It was very loud and scary. I had no warning. I didn’t realise what it was until I stopped. I’m very lucky that it didn’t hit the car behind me at that speed. I see this part missing from a lot of Ford Explorers so it must be common. There needs to be a recall before someone gets hurt.

Left side windshield trim molding flew off hitting car behind me. Causing car to then chase me down and run me off the road. Two months later the right side flew off while driving luckily not hitting another car on the road. Something needs done about this. Every Ford Explorer I see on the road is missing one or both of these trim pieces! Do better FORD!

While driving the trim by my windshield flew off after hitting my windsheild, which made me swerve and almost crash into car next to me. Then the weatherstripping started to detach from windsheild and come loose. Pulled over to see what had happened. Saw the missing part. Now the other side came off while driving! I've used duct tape in its place because Ford wants way too much money to replace. Thank God my family and other families were not injured by my vehicle.

Rear camera stopped working

The components that hold the windshield in started coming out going down the highway at 55 miles per hour terrifying me that the windshield was coming out. I understand that this is happening a lot in the ford explorers. I am having components replaced next week.

Sudden back up camera failure without a warning light or message. There has not been an accident/incident but it is difficult to see behind the vehicle at certain angles when turning my head to the rear to back up. I have not yet had it checked by a mechanic because upon further research found that it may be too costly for me to have repaired. I had no obvious issues before it stopped working.

Backup camera - the backup camera stopped working at approximately 86k miles.

Throttle body not working properly. The vehicle has left me stranded, mid driving- just loses power & I have to coast to the nearest location and re start vehicle. It is an incredibly dangerous situation. Signals to me "terrain management system failure".

While driving the temp started to fluctuate, causing the car the shut down in traffic. I had no clue what was happening. The only warning I got from the vehicle was a check engine light. This should not be possible. I understand the design is meant to protect the engine, but what about the driver. This was horrible and I've seen hundreds of others with this same issue. This needs to be recalled. In addition, it will cost me 4000 to fix this...while the pump itself only costs 200. The labor is the other 3800. This is a horrible thing to do to drivers.

Driver's side windshield molding flew off while traveling on the PA turnpike at approximately 70mph. This not only startled myself (the driver) but caused the vehicle behind me to swerve. No accident was caused as there were no vehicles in the left lane of traffic at that time.

Front Window Trim fell off while traveling on highway, the noise startled me and I was going 70 mph, did not see the part fall off and this is the second incident. The shop I took vehicle to the first time said it was a poor design and this happens often. Trim replacement part is 67.00. I bought a used vehicle, had 126,000 miles on it at purchase. I feel the poor design needs to be remedied at the manufacturers expense. please make a decisive recommendation for consumers. this is unacceptable.

The front door trim panels on both driver and passenger side doors are bowing. The problem is noted by Ford under recalls or a service bulletin for my Vin number. The problem was reported to Ford by me in 2022. Ford will not pay to correct the problem, even though the company lists the door problem for my car. I am the original owner of the car and the door panels are original to the car.

The driver side windshield trim separated from the vehicle while driving on the freeway. Upon inspection at our destination, it was evident that 4 of the plastic clips had broken causing the failure. The driver behind us was able to avoid the flying debris from this incident. We have not taken it in for repairs yet. There was no warning or early indication of this problem prior to it occurring. Concerned the passenger side will do the same.

I am unable to take this matter to the dealer, as they have shut down thier business.

Plastic cover of windshield detached while driving. May pose a hazard to other drivers as it becomes a projectile when detaching. It also startled the driver when it detached, causing swerving.There was no damage done to provoke the problem, it was spontaneous. Have not taken the vehicle to be inspected by dealer.

My 2015 Ford Explorer is having fumes in the car. The dealership has charged me for an oil leak, cracked exhaust and now wants me to pay for a muffler. There is still exhaust fumes coming into the car making it hard to drive in the cold.

Water pump leakage I noted that my Ford was leaking fluid and took it in to be serviced. Upon review it was determined that the water pump needed to be replaced as well as the timing belt. Ford Explorer models from 2011 to 2016 had the most water pump issues. Consumers have continuously reported complaints with a few of all the models having leakage issues. Coolant leaked because of failed water pumps which is a known problem by many Ford Explorer owners.

The transmission went out in the car, because the Transfer Case was bad. I could have been stuck somewhere because of this problem. Ford needs to be more proactive on this. My daughter also had her transmission go out also. NOT OK!!!

When accelerating, an odor becomes prominent throughout the cabin of the vehicle. I can only describe the smell as exhaust. This smell usually goes away, or is too faint to notice after a few minutes. If this is exhaust, isn't there a possibility of Carbon Monoxide poisoning? At first, I thought the smell came from some kind of cleaner that the dealer had used when cleaning, but now over a year later, the smell still happens. Only after investigating this smell on the internet, I found that this appears to be a prominent issue with this vehicle.

Backup Camera failed and only works intermittenly. Mostly doesn't work. Because of the design of the car, it is very hard to see when backing up.

hand free smart trunk on my car doesn’t go up all the way, when I go to put stuff in a trunk I got strucked to my head several times, when I also push the trunk up not to get hit the hydraulic bars gets lose and the trunk falles down and struck my head few times left me with bruises, it’s very dangerous

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle there was an odor of mildew inside the cabin of the vehicle. Upon inspection, it was discovered that water had leaked under the floorboards and the carpet was extremely wet causing black mold to develop under the carpet. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 124,000

Water pump and leaking

This is the 4th time this has happened. When driving on the highway all of a sudden warning bells go off dashboard lights up indicating Terrain Fault. Power steering goes out almost causing me not to make my turn. I pull over and look and I have error about Power assist, terrain fault and one other I don’t remember. At this point I am under able to steer the vehicle. So I turn it off for a few minutes and restart it and what do you know…. Everything is just fine. This is very sporadic and by the time I take it in to read codes none are there. When I speak to the dealership they act like they have never heard of this happening.

While my son was driving our 2015 Explorer on the highway @60 mph a month ago, the black mounding trim piece on the driver’s side windshield went flying off, along with a rubber strip that caused him to swerve lanes, almost creating an accident. Then, last week I was driving on the highway through a construction zone late at night when a large black plastic piece(the trim molding on the other side of the windshield) flew off the passenger side and a two foot piece of thick gooey rubber was flapping on my windshield. When I purchased this vehicle I noticed there was a fawl smell like rotten eggs or sulfer when you would push on gas. I mentioned it to the dealer they said they kneew about it and there was a recall to fix it. I brought it in a few times as each time they never seemed to be able to fix it. I NOTICED THAT I STARTED TO FEEL LIGHT HEADED AND WENT TO MY DOCTOR. AT FIRST IT WAS THOUGHT TO BE MY ALLERGIES. THE WINDSHIELD WINDOW RUBBER SIDINGS ARE BREAKING APART ON BOTH SIDES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE WINDOW CAN FALL APART WHILE I'M DRIVING. THE SECOND ISSUE IS WITH A RECALL ON THE PANELS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS COMING APART. I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT MY CAR WAS BEING RECALLED BACK IN NOVEMBER OF 2020. I CALLED EMPIRE FORD IN NEW BEDFORD MASS IMMEDIATELY TO MAKE AN APPT TO GET IT FIXED. IT HAS NOW BEEN 2 MONTHS AND I AM STILL AWAITING AN APPOINTMENT AFTER CALLING THEM SEVERAL TIMES. THEY FIRST TOLD ME IT WAS ON BACK ORDER THE PETS, THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD BRING IT IN FIRST TO SEE IF I ACTUALLY NEEDED THE PART. I TOLD THEM THERE WAS A RECALL FOR A REASON AND I WANTED THE PART CHANGED. IT WAS NOT UP TO THEM. I AM STILL AWAITING TO HEAR BACK. THEY ARE THE ONLY FORD DEALERS NEAR ME AND THEY ARE TERRIBLE. EXHAUST ODOR SMELL INSIDE THE CABINET

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
