THE DRIVERS DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR REMAINS ON AFTER FULLY CLOSING THE DOOR. THIS WILL NOT ALLOW THE CAR DOORS TO LOCK WHILE DRIVING, NOR WILL IT ALLOW FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE LOCKED/ALARMED WHEN PARKED. ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS, ATTEMPTS TO LOCK THE VEHICLE HAVE RESULTED IN THE ALARM AND EMERGENCY FLASHERS GOING OFF. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, BUT IS NOW CONSTANT. A SAFETY AS WELL AS A SECURITY HAZARD.

(SAFETY ISSUE,) MY DOOR LOCKS WON'T LOCK,KEEPS SAYING DOOR AJAR ON PASSENGER DOOR, AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO SHUT THE DOOR, LIGHTS ALSO STAY ON CAUSE THINKS DOOR IS OPEN. DON'T KNOW IF IT'S A RECALL OR JUST A DEFECTED CENSOR. BUT REALLY FEEL IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE!!!!!!! THANK YOU *TR
REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH IS DEFECTIVE. DOOR IS SHUT BUT HAS DOOR AJAR ALARM AND DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AND CAR ALARM GOES OFF WHILE PARKED WHEN DOOR IS AJAR. IT CONVENIENTLY WENT OUT RIGHT AFTER 50,000MILES AND WARRANTY WAS UP. FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS AS IT SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON PROBLEM BUT UNFORTUNATELY A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE PROCEDURE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED $100 JUST TO LOOK AT THE CAR AND NOT INCLUDING PARTS AND LABOR. UPDATED 09/18/15*LJ
MY VEHICLE DISPLAYED THE DOOR AJAR ALARM AFTER THE DOOR HAD BEEN SHUT SECURELY. THIS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY FOR TWO DAYS, AND THEN BEGAN TO OCCUR EVERY TIME I GOT IN THE VEHICLE. A COUPLE DAYS LATER IT WENT BACK TO BEING INTERMITTENT. I WOULD NOT GET THE NOTIFICATION WHEN I FIRST GOT IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THEN THE ALARM WOULD GO OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. ENTERING HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND ACCELLERATING WHEN CAR DE-ACCLERATED ON ITS OWN TO A CRIPPLING 2 MPH. MOVED OVER TO THE FAR RIGHT SIDE WITH CAR MOVING AT 2 MPH UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF HIGHWAY AND PART CAR. LET SIT 15 MINUTES AND CAR STARTED AND ACCLERATED APPROPRIATELY. 2 WEEKS LATER SAME THING. ACCLERATING FROM A STOP AT A STOP LIGH AND CAR DE-ACCLERATED ON ITS ON AND LIMPED TO 2 MPH UNTILL I COULD PULL OFF ROAD AND LET SIT. STARTED BADK UP AND DROVE OK. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER HAPPENED AGAIN. ON AUGUST 30, 2015 THE CAR BEGAN DOING THIS DAILY AND TOOK 9 TIMES OF LETTING CAR SIT AFTER IT DE-ACCLERATED TO GET HOME FROM WORK. CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY CLAIM NO RECALLS FOR THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM THAT FORD EDGES ARE HAVING. RESEARCHED THE INTERNET...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE IN PARK, THE CONTACT CLOSED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR; HOWEVER, THE DOOR FAILED TO AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AND THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMBER OF OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. FAULTY SENSOR IN THE DOOR CAUSES THE CAR TO THINK THE DRIVER DOOR IS OPEN. DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AND VEHICLE WILL NOT LOCK WHEN DRIVING! LIGHTS EVENTUALLY TIME OUT BUT WHEN INSIDE THE CAR, THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK! I HAVE HAD IT FIXED THREE TIMES NOW AND IT ALWAYS COMES BACK.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR STUCK ON "OPEN" FOR DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AND REAR DOORS. AS A RESULT, DOME LIGHTS STAY ON CAUSING DIFFICULTY SEEING AT NIGHT, AND INABILITY TO LOCK DOORS WHILE IN MOTION. ALSO, DRAINS BATTERY AND HAS STRANDED MY WIFE MULTIPLE TIMES. REPAIR IS VERY COSTLY AND AS I UNDERSTAND IT, THE REPLACEMENT PART IS JUST AS SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE PROBLEM AS THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. FORD NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS INHERENT DEFECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR EVEN WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET WITH OUR INFANT BOYS IN THE BACK SEAT. WITHOUT WARNING, THE 2011 FORD EDGE LOST ALL POWER AND THE ENGINE VIBRATED INTENSELY. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS COLLISION. SHE RESTARTED THE CAR AND TRIED TO MAKE IT HOME SAFELY AND SLOWLY. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE WAY. THE NEXT DAY (7/20/15), WHEN WE DROVE THE SUV TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT HAPPENED A 3RD TIME. GALPIN FORD (N HILLS, CA) DIAGNOSED IT WITH A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY, NOT COVERED BY OUR 7-YEAR POWERTRAIN LIMITED WARRANTY. THIS IS A CERTIFIED PREOWNED FORD EDGE THAT WE PURCHASED A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. THROTTLE BODIES SHOULD NOT FAIL WITH 45K MILES ON THE CAR. AND, IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, OR BETTER YET...IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE LOSS OF POWER IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. *TR
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED
THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT STARTED COMING ON, INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST AND THEN CONTINUOUSLY. BAD SENSOR. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK USING THE LATCH AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A TIME. THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK THE DOORS ONCE INSIDE, IS TO USE THE KEY FOB. THIS CAN BE QUITE DANGEROUS IF NOT IN A GOOD AREA. THIS PROBLEM HAS DRAINED MY BATTERY ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED, HOWEVER, MOST FORD DEALERS WANT TO CHARGE CUSTOMERS $215 PLUS FOR DIAGNOSTIC FEES. ONLY THEN WILL THEY REPAIR THE PROBLEM. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, SO I STILL WIND UP PAYING ABOUT WHAT IT COSTS TO REPAIR IT. (??) CAR PART STORES WILL RUN A DIAGNOSTIC FOR FREE... THIS SEEMS TO BE A CHRONIC ISSUE. WHEN I RESEARCHED IT, TONS OF INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM SURFACED. IT SEEMS FORD WILL...
FORD EDGE SUDDENLY LOST POWER ( VEHICLE STILL RUNNING). NO RESPONSE FROM ACCELERATOR EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING. HAD TO ROLL TO SIDE OF ROAD (VERY UNSAFE). A WARNING LIGHT BRIEFLY CAME ON SHOWING ":AWD OFF" AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS WARNING CHANGED THE "WRENCH" ICON. THIS HAPPENED A SECOND TIME JUST A FEW HOURS LATER. I SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER FOR THE NEXT DAY, AND IT HAPPEND AGAIN ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER. DEALER RAN CODES, ALL PASSED AND COULDN'T FIND ISSUE. IT HAPPENED AGAIN 10 MILES AFTER PICKING UP FROM THE DEALER. RESCHEDULED FOR NEXT DAY WITH DEALER. ISSUE HAPPENED YET AGAIN ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER. ONCE AGAIN DEALER COULD NOT FIND ISSUE OR ANY ERROR CODES. IN SUMMARY, IT HAPPENED 5 TIMES IN LESS THAN 30 MILES OF DRIVING. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALARM WILL NOT GO OFF,EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS SHUT.
ON JUNE 12, 2015 MY 2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE LOCKS. THE CAR WILL NOT STAY LOCKED AND UNLOCKS ITSELF. WHETHER STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, DRIVING, AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION, OR WALKING AWAY FROM THE CAR, IT UNLOCKS ITSELF AND SOMETIMES DOES IT CYCLICALLY. IT HAPPENS WHETHER I LOCK THE CAR MANUALLY OR WITH THE KEY FOB. IF I USE THE KEY FOB, WITHIN A FEW SECONDS IT WILL UNLOCK ITSELF AGAIN. IF I LOCK IT MANUALLY, IT MAY BE A FEW SECONDS OR A FEW MINUTES. IT CAUSES THE EXTERIOR PARKING AND HAZARD LIGHTS TO FLASH AND THE DOME LIGHT TO COME ON. IT IS NOT SAFE. I LIVE IN AN MAJOR CITY. THOUGH I HAVE A PUSH IGNITION THAT WON'T START OR OPERATE THE CAR WITHOUT THE KEY FOB PRESENT, I AM AFRAID THAT IF I LEAVE THE CAR SOMEONE COULD GET IN AND RANSACK/DAMAGE...
DOOR SENSOR DOES NOT REGISTER THAT THE DOOR IS SHUT, CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO STAY ON INSIDE CONTINUOUSLY. THIS IS A DANGER TO THE DRIVER ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT BECAUSE I CANNT SEE TO DRIVE WITH THE INSIDE DOME LIGHTS ON AND ITS UNSAFE FOR THE PASSENGERS WHEN THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK.

A DOOR AJAR BUT NO DOOR OPEN. LATCH KEY ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE CHANGED ON DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AND NOW AT 80,000 MILES LATCH KEY CHANGE NEEDING CHANGED ON PASSENGER REAR DOOR. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR FORD TO RECALL THIS ISSUE. POSTED SO MANY TIMES HERE.

I SAW ON LINE REPAIRS OF HOW TO FIX GOING BACK TO 1998 FORD MODEL FROM WINDSTARS, TO RANGERS, TO EDGES - ALL MODELS YEARS, ALL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD HAS NOT BOTHERED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS!..3-DAYS AGO, I TOOK MY 2013 FORD TAURUS TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN LANCASTER, SC FOR A SAFETY RECALL TO FIX DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCHES, AND A SEPARATE RECALL CHECK ON LIGHTS ON THE LICENSE PLATE FOR POSSIBLE MOISTURE LEAKAGE. SO, I GOT A SAFETY RECALL ON POSSIBLY FAILED SEAL ON LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS, BUT NO RECALL ON AN ISSUE WITH THE LIGHTS...
DOOR AJAR SENSOR WILL NOT GO OUT AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED.
DRIVER DOOR ADJAR NOTIFICATION WON'T GO OFF EVEN THOUGH ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED. THIS PREVENTS DOORS FROM LOCKING WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SAFETY HAZARD. ALSO CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SAFETY HAZARD AT NIGHT. SOMETIMES INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T GO OFF AT ALL EVEN AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF FOR HOURS.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES I CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DOOR IS CLOSED BUT THE SENSOR STAYS ON AND THE LIGHT INSIDE THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF (DUE TO THE CAR THINKING THE DOOR IS OPEN)--NOT SURE IF THE DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. SEEMS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH THE CAR THIS WAY SINCE I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS SECURELY CLOSED.
MULTIPLE INCIDENTS AFTER REPAIR OF DOOR AJAR SWITCH/SENSOR WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY CLOSED EVEN THOUGH THE DOME LIGHTS STAY LIT AND THE CAR GIVES A WARNING.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON. THIS CAUSES ALL DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON, AT NIGHT IMPAIRS VISION WHEN BACKING UP. MAKES DRIVING VERY UNSAFE FOR FIRST FEW YARDS, DOME AND MAP LIGHTS THEN GO OFF. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND I HAVE HAD ONE LATCH REPLACED. NOW ANOTHER IS DOING IT. FORD DEALER REFUSED TO FIX IT AGAIN, WILL COST ABOUT $300.00 EACH TIME. I FEEL FORD HAS KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME AND SHOULD FIX ALL DOORS ON MODELS AFFECTED, OR FIND SOLUTION TO HAVING LIGHTS STAY ON INSTEAD OF JUST THE WARNING LIGHT. ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED BUT "DOOR AJAR" NOTIFICATION IS PRESENT PROHIBITING DOORS FROM LOCKING AND INTERIOR LIGHTS FROM DIMMING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEREBY THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE DISTRACTING DURING NIGHT-TIME DRIVING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
THE DOOR LATCH SENSOR MALFUNCTIONS INDICATING THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK NEITHER MANUALLY NOR ELECTRONICALLY. THE LF DOOR LATCH HAS BEEN REPLACED 10/12, RF LATCH REPLACED 11/13.(BOTH REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY FOR MALFUNCTION) 9/14 THE RF LATCH AGAIN MALFUNCTIONED, AND WAS LUBRICATED AT A DEALER TO RESOLVE PROBLEM. AGAIN AT 5/15 THE LATCH AGAIN MALFUNCTIONED AND WAS INSPECTED. TO THIS DAY IT CONTINUES TO MALFUNCTION. I WAS ADVISED AT THE DEALERSHIP TO WAIT UNTIL UPDATED LATCHES ARE PRODUCED. MEANWHILE, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN DRIVING. WHEN A NEW DESIGN LATCH IS AVAILABLE, I WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT LATCH BECAUSE THE MILEAGE AND CAR ARE BEYOND WARRANTY.

MY SAFETY ISSUE IS WITH MY FORD EDGE 2011 DOOR AJAR SENSOR. IT'S GOTTEN WORSE IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. THE DOORS STAY UNLOCK, DASH BOARD WARNING DISPLAY KEEPS POPPING UP, DOOR DISPLAY STAYS LIT AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON WHICH IS HAZARDOUS AT NIGHT. FORD HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH MANY OF IT'S VEHICLES FOR A LONG TIME BUT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE VERY INTERESTED IN FIXING IT OR RECALLING. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DIVISION AND SPOKE TO ANGELA KEEVIS (REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER) TO HAVE FORD HANDLE THIS ISSUE AS A RE-CALL B/C MANY OF THE EDGE MODELS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. SHE CONFIRMED THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS AT THIS TIME AND THAT FORD WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HELP OUT TO REIMBURSE THE COST OF THE FIX EITHER AND SHE WAS SORRY AT THIS TIME. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH NOT WORKING PROPERLY INDICATES THE DOOR IS OPENED WHEN IT IS CLOSED. THERE FOR THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON TILL THE CAR REACHES 20 MILES PER HOUR OR ABOUT A CITY BLOCK WITCH MAKES IT HARD TO DRIVE AND COVER THE DOME LIGHT AT NIGHT SO U CAN SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD SO NOT TO BE BLINDED BY THE LIGHT .

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOORS FAILED TO LOCK WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND THE DOOR LOCKS UNLOCKED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
PLEASE CONSIDER REVIEWING THIS ISSUE. ELECTRICAL CONTACT ON DOOR LATCH DOES NOT SENSE THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS PROPERLY SHUT. DOOR WILL NOT LOCK, DOME LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT, AS A WOMAN I REALLY DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO SEE THAT I AM ALONE AND FEMALE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT OR WAITING...ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR. THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON, NIGHT TIME DRIVING HAZARD. FALSE DOOR AJAR PREVENTS DOORS FROM LOCKING WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY. DOORS WON'T LOCK MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALERT WOULD NOT GO OFF AND NEITHER WOULD THE INTERIOR LIGHTS EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR WAS SHUT. THE LIGHTS WOULD STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK ONCE I STARTED DRIVING EITHER SINCE IT WAS SAYING THE DRIVER DOOR WAS OPEN. I'M WAITING FOR THE BATTER TO JUST DIE SINCE MY INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A LONG TIME AFTER I SHUT AND LOCK MY DOORS BECAUSE THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALERT NEVER GOES OFF. I'VE CALLED MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS AND THEY WON'T COVER IT BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL ON IT. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF MY DOOR IS EVERY REALLY SHUT, MY INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL ONLY GO OFF AFTER I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THE DOORS WON'T EVEN LOCK RIGHT!
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON. INTERIOR LIGHTING WILL NOT TURN OFF. USER CAN'T LOCK DOORS WHILE DRIVING. DOME LIGHT STAYS ON DRAINING BATTERY.
THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH SENSOR (DRIVER DOOR AJAR) WILL NOT GO OUT AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK BECAUSE OF IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE ANYONE COULD JUST WALK UP AND OPEN YOUR DOOR SINCE IT WILL NOT LOCK. I HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY 2008 EDGE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS WHY IS NOTHING GETTING DONE ABOUT THIS TO MAKE THEM PUT A RECALL OUT FOR THE PROBLEM?
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. CURRENTLY THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED. THE FIRST WAS THE DRIVER DOOR WHICH OCCURRED IN DECEMBER OF 2012. THE LATCH WAS REPLACED BY THE LOCAL DEALER UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE TOOK PLACE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014. THIS TIME THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR MALFUNCTIONED. THE LATCH WAS REPLACED AT OWNERS EXPENSE. CURRENTLY THE DRIVER DOOR AGAIN IS MALFUNCTIONING. EACH TIME THE DOOR IS CLOSED THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS OF CLOSING THE DOOR THE LIGHT MAY OR MAY NOT GO OUT. WHEN ON THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL REMAIN ON. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THE FORD EDGE ESPECIALLY THE 2011 MODELS.
THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR WILL NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO BE LOCKED WHILE IN MOTION. ADDITIONALLY, IT WILL FORCE THE INTERIOR LIGHT TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED AFTER REMOVING THE KEY WHICH THEN DRAINS THE BATTERY REQUIRING CONSTANT ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE.
OPEN OR CLOSE DOORS SENSORS DEFECTIVE. HAPPENS IN ALMOST ALL FORD EDGE VEHICLES.
A RIGHT FRONT DOOR AJAR WARNING IS REPORTED BY THE VEHICLE, BUT THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT - HAVE TO SLAM DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET WARNING TO GO OFF - OVERHEAD LIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY COME AS A RESULT WHICH AFFECTS YOUR ABILITY TO SEE TRAFFIC AT NIGHT - THIS PROBLEM IS STILL ON GOING ON A DAILY BASIS - THE REPORTED COST OF REPAIR IS $300 TO $500 FOR A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING.
THE "DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE COMES ON WHEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED. I CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS WHEN THIS MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY FEATURE, OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE COULD BE SUBJECT TO A CAR JACKING ETC.. ALSO, THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THE MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED CAUSING MY BATTERY TO DRAIN, I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW ONE $102 WHICH I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM CONSIDERING THE DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS SAFETY IS COMPROMISED.
