HAVE A "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT ON 90% OF THE TIME WHEN THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND DO NOT GO OFF UNLESS ENGINE IS STARTED. THIS IS APPARENTLY A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD EDGE VEHICLES, YET FORD DOES NOT SEEM TO WANT TO RECALL. WHY? THIS IS NOT A CHEAP OR EASY FIX FOR THE CONSUMER.
2011 FORD EDGE. PASSENGER DOOR STARTED SAYING DOOR AJAR ERROR. HAVE TRIED ALL THE QUICK FIXES NONE OF THEM HAVE WORKED. HAVE SLAMMED AND REOPENED AND RECLOSED. HAVE TRIED PUTTING THE KEY IN AND TURNING IT OFF AND ON. DOESN'T WORK . HAVE TTIED SPRAYING THE LATCH WITH BRAKE CLEANER AND WD40. IT'S MAKING MY INSIDE LIGHT STAY ON. I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO DO IF IT WON'T GO OFF. IT'S GOING TO KILL MY BATTERY. IT'S TO THE POINT WHERE I'M AFRAID TO LET ANYONE IN ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. BC ONCE IT SAYS THAT IT TAKES FOREVER TO GET THE LIGOT TO GO OUT. SUCKS SO BAD. SO AGGRAVATING WHEN I CAN'T GET THE INSIDE LIGHTS TO GO OUT OR THE CAR TO LOCK. THIS SUCKS!!! ALSO MY DIGITAL SCREEN IS CONSTANTLY LOCKING UP GOING BLACK AND WON'T HOLD MY BLUETOOTH CONNECTION. I HATE THIS CAR....
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH SENSOR INDICATES DOOR AJAR CONTINUALLY WHEN IT IS NOT AJAR. THIS RESULTS IN INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAINING ON FOR A WHILE WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNLESS MESSAGE IS ACKNOWLEDGED ON DRIVERS PANEL. DOORS REMAIN UNLOCKED. LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHEN EXITING AND LEAVING THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED UNDER WARRANTY IN 2012 AND DOOR LATCH WAS REPLACED. NOW IT HAS OCCURRED AGAIN AND WILL NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. IT IS A SIGNIFICANT NUISANCE AND POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. THE NUMBER OF IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS IN THIS DATABASE CLEARLY INDICATES TO ME THAT A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM EXISTS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED WHICH CAUSES INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND MAKING IT HARD TO SEE TO BACK UP AT NIGHT. DOOR WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THIS SENSOR STAYS ON WHICH IS ESPECIALLY UNSAFE FOR TRANSPORTING CHILDREN OR SECURING YOURSELF IN YOUR CAR IN LESS THAN FAVORABLE CONDITIONS. BATTERY CAN RUN DOWN WITH LIGHTS STAYING ON LEAVING YOU STRANDED.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED CAUSING DOORS TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHILE DRIVING. I HAD THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY REPLACE BACK IN JULY 2013 AT A COST OF $309. THE SAME ISSUE HAS REOCCURRED NEARLY 3 YRS. LATER. I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO STATED SENSOR COULD NEED CLEANING FOR A COST OF $180 OR LATCH REPLACEMENT MIGHT BE REQUIRED AGAIN AT OVER $300. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS.

FAULTY DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY. FORD KNOWS OF ISSUE IN TSB'S. DOORS WON'T LOCK AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DUE TO DOOR AJAR BEING SENSED.
DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON WHILE DOOR IS SHUT. THE DOORS ARE UNABLE TO LOCK WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND DOME LIGHTS REMAIN LIT AT NIGHT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE.
WHEN STATIONARY AND 1ST STARTED IT WILL STATE THAT THE DRIVER DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS CLEARLY CLOSED. THIS HAS CAUSED MY DOORS NOT TO LOCK AND THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH.

DRIVERS SIDE DOOR SENSOR IS SAYING THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS OPEN AND EVENTHOUGH THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS LEAVES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON AND DRAINS THE BATTERY. THIS ORIGINALLY HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY, THE DEALERSHIP "CLEANED" THE LATCH AND IT QUIT, THEN IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT AND NOW THEY WANT TO REPLACE IT AND HAVE ME PAY FOR IT.

MY FORD EDGE WILL NOT LOCK, CAUSING VERY DANGEROUS CIRCUMSTANCES WHEN DRIVING OR STOPPED AT A LIGHT IN AN AREA THAT IS UNSAFE. WILL NOT LOCK WHILE PARKED, IN DRIVE (ON HIGHWAY OR ROAD) OR WITH THE IGNITION TURNED OFF. I WAS OVER MY WARRANTY BY 1,000 MILES AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSED TO HELP ME, TOLD ME TO TAKE IT IN AND PAY FOR THE WORK AND SERVICE CALL AND SUBMIT A CLAIM.
DOOR LATCH CENSURE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY, IT INDICATES THE DOOR IS OPEN ALL OF THE TIME.

I OWN A 2011 FORD EDGE. NOT LONG AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT MY FRONT DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON. MY DOOR WAS DEFINITELY CLOSED BUT THE LIGHT REMAINS ON. THIS CAUSES THE DOOR LOCKS TO NOT LOCK THE DOORS WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I PARK THE CAR THE EXTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRRORS DOWN LIGHT STAYS ON, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND SOME DASH LIGHTS. I'VE GONE OUT TO THE GARAGE 4 HOURS AFTER I'VE GOTTEN HOME AND FOUND THEM STILL ON. YES I HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AFTER FINDING IT DEAD. NOW THE REAR DRIVERS DOOR IS SHOWING ITS AJAR ON MY DASH. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I CAN'T LOCK THE DOORS WITH MY GRANDKIDS IN THE BACK SEAT. MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT A 2011 FORD EDGE ON OCTOBER 28, 2015 WITH PREMIUM CARE EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN. WE ASKED BEFORE WE TOOKED THE PLAN WHAT WAS COVERED. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO US THAT IT WAS COVERED FROM BUMPER TO BUMPER FOR 36,000 MILES OR 36 MONTHS. WE HAVE A ISSUE WITH OUR SUNROOF NOT CLOSING WHEN STATIONARY. WHEN IT FIRST STARTED IT HAPPENED MAYBE ONCE A MONTH BUT RECENTLY IT'S BEEN EVERY TIME I GET INTO THE VEHICLE.

FORD IS UNWILLING TO COVER REPAIR COSTS AND WILL NOT WARRANTY THEIR WORK IF YOU HAVE THEM REPAIR IT.

THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM; IT IS NOT INTERMITTENT. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS CAR. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AT A COST OF $500.00, I HAVE HAD A BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE WHICH HAD TO BE FIXED, AND NOW THIS PROBLEM WHICH I READ IS A COSTLY FIX. THIS IS MY FIRST FORD VEHICLE; WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
DRIVERS DOOR LATCH SWITCH. CANNOT LOCK DOORS OR DOME LIGHT ALWAYS STAYS ON.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE I PURCHASED WITH 20K MILEAGE USED. LIGHTS STAY ON FOR 5 MINUTES, AND WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK DOORS IN BAD NEIGHBORHOODS. I HAVE REPLACED 2 BATTERYS ALREADY , AND NOW HAVE 45K ON ODOMETER.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED. WHEN IT FAILS YOU CAN'T ALWAYS LOCK DOORS AND LIGHT WILL STAY ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO STAY ACTIVE EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OFF CAUSING THE BATTERY TO BE DRAINED. THIS RECENTLY KILLED OUR BATTERY. IT APPEARS AS IF FORD HAS NO FIX FOR THIS AS MANY HAVE SEEN THIS FAILURE TO RECUR EVERY 35K OR SO, GUESS IT DEPENDS ON HOW OFTEN YOU OPEN/CLOSE THE DOOR TO WEAR OUT THE SWITCH. POOR DESIGN.
CAR DOES NOT RECOGNIZE WHEN DRIVER DOOR IS CLOSED , EVEN WHEN CLOSED IT THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON. THE DOOR IS CLOSED. IT WON'T LOCK THE DOORS WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. AT NIGHT THIS IS A PAIN SINCE THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON FOR AWHILE. TRIED WD40 AND NOTHING. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS SINCE THERE ARE MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS.
THE ENGINE DIED, AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AS I TRIED TO EXIT AND MY CAR DRIFTED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT BUT WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IT WAS SEVERELY SMOKING AND I HAD TO GET MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER OUT OF THE CAR IMMEDIATELY. ALSO, THE HEAD GASKETS AND RADIATOR BLEW AND NOW THERE IS A MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE CAR THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT DIAGNOSE AFTER 5 HOURS OF INVESTIGATING.
SWITCH ON SHIFTER THAT TELLS THE COMPUTER WHETHER THE CAR IS IN PARK OR RUNNING MALFUNCTIONED. COMPONENT REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE SHIFTER AND HAS THE ABILITY TO CAUSE THE VEHICLE NOT TO START SINCE IT NEVER REGISTERS THAT IT IS IN PART WHEN STOPPED. BACKUP CAMERA LINKAGE FAILURE RENDERING THE BACK CAMERA INOPERATIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY BUT PROBLEM WITH SHIFTER SWITCH REPORTING THE CAR NOT IN PARK COULD RESULT IN THE CAR NOT CUTTING OFF OR STOPPING WHEN RUNNING. TO FIX THESE MALFUNCTIONS AND FAILURES COST OVER $900 DOLLARS. THESE ARE ENGINEERING DEFECTS NOT OWNER RELATED.
REAR HATCH AJAR ALARM GOES OFF CONSTANTLY DURING WARMER WEATHER. THIS CAUSES DOME LIGHT TO GO OFF AND ALSO UNLOCKS DOORS. IT DOES THIS WHILE IN MOTION. COLDER WEATHER THIS PROBLEM GOES AWAY SEEMS LIKE
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL OFTEN REPORT THAT IT HAS BEEN LEFT AJAR WHEN IT REALLY HASN'T. THIS CAUSES THE DOME LIGHT TO STAY ON AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING FOR A TIME WHICH IS DISTRACTING. IT ALSO HIDES THE FACT WHEN THE DOOR ACTUALLY IS AJAR BECAUSE YOU ASSUME THE SENSOR IS JUST ACTING UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR SENSOR DISPLAYED A FALSE READING AND INDICATED THAT THE DOOR WAS UNLOCKED WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY LOCKED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND REPAIRED. THREE MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT IT WAS THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR THAT TRIGGERED THE FALSE READING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
