While driving the vehicle the low engine pressure light appeared, after getting a mile down the road the vehicle came to a complete stop while still in drive and the engine had seized. It would not turn over after the fact. The vehicle was then towed to a dealership were it was diagnosed with a failed oil pump belt. Manufacturer states there is nothing they can do.

On 3/31 @5:22pm after a few calls to ford about issues my car lost all power, brakes locked steering wheel lock and I was on the Grand central expressway.
2020 Ford Eco Sport There is a recall on this vehicle: 23V905000 I discovered the recall on my vehicle on April 5, 20204. I called the Tommie Vaughn Ford dealership to schedule the service for the recall. When I asked the service valet if they had the part on hand he said he didn't know and would call back on Monday. He called back and stated, "The service manager said we are not repairing those cars unless they don't start or on the side of the road." (my appointment was canceled) On [XXX], around 11:30 pm (the vehicle seemed to start to lose pressure and then a warning light came on: oil pressure to engine low. Around five minutes later the car went black and completely shut down in the middle of the road.) The next day I called Joe Meyers Ford who stated there wasn't a recall on the...
Okay, i got a letter in the mail back in February 2024, a recall letter, and as of April [XXX], 2024 we notice oil on the top on the motor and knocking noise. so we called the Dealership in Showlow Ford. Asking if the recall was due to the oil and knocking noise. So we towed the car to the dealership, and it was ck and they told us it was the recall part and that they did contact the Ford company to found out when the part will be available to replace, and replace the motor, per the ford company they said they are still working on the replacement part. They did offer rental but i cant pay second insurance and that was my car to work and getting to place, I'm still making payments and full cover insurance on it. And I dont think i can wait another...
Low oil pressure sensor came on., Took car to get oil changed thinking that would be a quick fix. The car continue to drive rough making a loud knocking sound. Checking engine light, oil light and tool bar light were now on. Took it back to mechanic they said I had 2 camshaft sensors that need replaced. Got the sensors replaced , car did not seem any better. Took it back to mechanic and as I was driving the car lost total power and brakes failed. Mechanic put it on machine and then said the engine and turbo was blown.
I received this safety recall letter in Feb 2024. Have called Rivertown Ford In Columbus ga and they said they don't have the parts nor the approval to do the safety recall. Saturday while in Atlanta my car got a low oil pressure light I pulled over and called Ford they said they don't have approval to fix this recall but I can pay to have it fixed. since my vehicle is broke down. i had to pay 680.00 to get it towed back to my house. The letter said that in the 2nd quarter of the year..which starts April1.supposed to be when they should have parts..so right now my car is not working and I don't have extra money to fix this problem. I will be contacting the BBB about Rivertown Ford in Columbus ga not honoring this recall in a timely manner..my name is [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION...
I was driving on [XXX] in Houston, Texas. Low Oil Pressure warning came on dashboard. The vehicle lost power. I was able to limp off of the freeway. Thankfully the car didn’t die until I was off of the road. I have had the vehicle towed to the Ford dealer. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Powertrain failure, low oil pressure light came on, occurred while driving 70 mph on freeway with moderate traffic my car suddenly decelerated to 35-40 mph with a semi truck behind me almost slamming into me and I couldn’t get the car to accelerate to get the the side of road to safety. Loud engine noise now when car is on, not able to accelerate past 30-40 mph. I feel it is not drivable. All dealerships I call tell me these parts have not been made available yet through the recalls received recall letter 3/29/24 from ford notifying that we would hear when we could schedule service to address this recall. This was first I was notified of this issue and my car had this incident on 4/16/24. Ford dealerships refuse to give me a loaner or fix my car until ford provides the parts . They state they all have...
on 3/30/2024 I received a message on my dashboard that "oil pressure failure" was detected. Soon after I lost power from 30mgh to 10mph. When I parked, my engine was sounding like it was knocking and then metal against metal sound. I had my car towed to the Ford dealership that I bought it from and have had it maintained there as well. I was told that the oil pump failed causing catastrophic injury to my engine requiring a new engine. My extended warranty says that there is an advanced recall on the part that failed on my 2020 Ford Ecosport, with 65,000 miles, so they will not pay for my engine to be replaced. Ford Motor has not agreed that it is there fault my engine suffered due to the failed oil pump. So, I have no car, no loaner and no fix other than paying out of pocket...
The vehicle had been making a noise and would occasionally lose power. I had made an appointment with Ford and had just left my home to drive the car to drop off when the oil light came on, then the check engine light and a wrench light. The car was making a terrible noise and I had to turn around. The engine was starting to smoke when I got back to my home. The car had previous issues with losing power and Ford had said this was due to a faulty temperature gauge and had replaced the temp. gauge.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 75 MPH, the "Oil Pressure Low" message displayed and continued to flash. The contact entered a parking lot, turned the vehicle off, and attempted to turn the vehicle back on, however, the vehicle would not restart. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired; however, the dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available for NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The system of my car kept saying that low oil pressure and I was confused because I just got my car oil changed two weeks ago. So I went to Jiffy Lube to get my oil checked. They said it was full and that I had a mass flow light on and they stated that there was something wrong with the oil pressure due to the airflow or something, so then my car stopped on side of the road 2 minutes after I left jiffy lube. I almost got to into a wreck. Someone almost hit my car because my car was accelerating slow, so I had to pay a tow truck to take my car home then I have to pay for a mobile mechanic to come out to my house to see the issue. he said that it was , the vacuum pump, the engine oil pressure was...
Engine seized while driving down the road in traffic, loss of power steering and power brakes. Had to tow it to ford. FORD WILL NOT REPLACE ENGINE THAT THE OIL PUMP DAMAGED. THEY WANT 8 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!
The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low oil warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the warning light illuminated five times within a five-minute drive. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
In February, while I was driving on the interstate, I started to lose the ability to control the speed of my car. I pulled over and shut off my car. When I tried to start the car again, it wouldn't start. After I towed it home, I tried jump starting and an error message popped up stating it was the engine oil pump belt tensioner. After speaking with Ford customer service and a Service manager, I was told it could be by August before my car could be fixed.
Recall stating that the oil pump assembly pulley will Crack and I am showing low oil pressure and I am full of oil and ford moco doesn't want to provide a towing company to pick up my vehicle
On December 07 2023 while driving off the interstate my vehicle abruptly stopped. It wouldn't accelerate at all and came out of no where. I had my kids in the car but thankfully I was close enough to their school that I was able to pull over and call a tow to take it to a dealership. That same day a service warning came up on the app that I did not see until after my car stalled on me saying there was a "Service Engine Soon Warning" On the app it stated: "The Engine Control system has detected that one of the engines internal components is not responding as expected. This can be caused by improper engine oil pressure or improperly operating engine timing components. The Engine Start/Stop feature (if equipped) may be disabled when this fault is present." The next step was: "Have your vehicle checked by an...
Low engine oil pressure fuel pump
After only 6 months of purchasing a 2020 Ecosport and just after the manufacturer warranty expired, the Low Oil Pressure light came on while driving. The Engine lost power and made loud sounds. We had the vehicle towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the engine oil was full of metal shavings and the engine was damaged beyond repair. We had to pay for an entire new motor (over $6000). We called Ford and went to a dealership and they admitted that this was a problem with this model but said they would not help as it had just gone out of warranty. Now, we received notice that there is a recall for this exact issue, (the newly replaced motor still has the same defect part.) Ford has refused to reimburse for the motor that we had to replace, stating that there is no fix yet for the defective...
The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to overtake another vehicle, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact was able to drive to the shoulder. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. On another occasion while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that vehicle occasionally failed to start. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 73,950.
The engine oil pump dive belt tensioner arm broke, and it caused damage to the engine, causing the engine to lose engine oil pressure and causing engine damage, almost causing an accident. There were no warning or messages prior to the failure it just happened, I was driving and it happened almost causing an accident. The dealership confirmed that this was the problem that belt broke causing motor damage but the letter of the recall had not yet been received and I cannot pay for that repair.
The recalled part, the "ENGINE OIL PUMP DRIVE BELT TENSIONER ARM" broke and ended up throwing metal throughout our 2020 ECOsport engine, making it undrivable. Ford refuses to cover the costs of the repair because they are claiming it's an " advanced notice, " since they "don't have a remedy" and expect us to wait until possibly the end of June for covered repairs or we can cover the costs ourselves($8k+ rental) even though they have sent out the recall notice. The "remedy" they don't have will not fix the engine, because the recalled part has already ruined the engine.
As I was driving the car started smoking and then caught on fire. Full flames for the front I had to rush out the car.
My car loses the power and stopped suddenly. Fortunately the car behind me took the other line quickly. ( check engin light and key tool light were on). I was trying to start it . It start but checking until stops. After a while it start and I tried to go max 20 miles/hours until I was home and parks the car till now. This was 2 days ago. And as I work uber I am not working . I do have appointment tomorrow with my dealer to see what they can do
Low engine oil pressure, oil light on, engine light on, ford claims that I can pay to have issue fixed, but they can not honor the recall because they don't have parts.
[XXX] while I was driving the low oil pressure warning came on. The car lost power, made terrible loud noise. I parked. The car was towed. It’s been sitting at James Ford Service, 100 Seymour St, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019 undriveable awaiting repair. It needs an engine which is not available. 7 months they have been telling me the parts are on backorder with no etd. My safety and others safety was at risk because the vehicle lost power along with braking power when the oil pump failed. FORD had known about this problem for quite some time. I am paying my car payment, insurance, DMV, car rental expenses and no car of my own to drive. I have cancer and had major surgery in November and now have weekly chemotherapy and other doctor appointments that I struggle to have transportation to get to! They have NOT been able...
A couple year ago I got a random pop up saying low oil pressure I pulled over immediately and started hearing a noise. I called around and got told I should tow the car to a mechanic. Then, I was told I had to get a new engine, and that was not cheap. I have also had the problem where every time I get into the car the screen turns off and says “turning off to save battery” sometimes the screen turns back on and sometimes it stays off not allowing me to see navigation. Plus when this happens it sometimes turns my whole dash and air conditioning off, and I am unable to use the reverse camera. Now there was a recent recall on my vehicle for the low oil pressure warning. But I have also had multiple problems with the auto start stop function where I have to...
I was on a ramp going from one highway to another when the engine oil pressure warning came up. Within seconds after the engine started to reduce speed and the engine light came on. The Wrench light came on and the engine continued to reduce speed. I had to put my hazard lights on and try to slowly get it to the dealership that was luckily only a couple exits away. I had my 3-year-old in the back seat. The dealership reports the whole engine needs to be replaced. We are down one vehicle and have to wait for a new engine. I no longer feel safe in this vehicle and researched the car to see if others have experienced this. I just saw that there is a known engine issue now and feel my fairly new car now is worthless. Who would buy a vehicle that has a known...
My car had a low oil pressure warning shortly after 60,000 miles. Shortly after, my check engine light also went on. I took my car to a Ford Dealership where they acknowledged this is a problem with the Ford Ecosport. The dealer told me that my entire engine needs replaced and it will be $6,800. Without compassion told me "there are 3 more ecosports in the back getting engines". When I inquired about the recent recall I was told they don't have to fix anything free of charge because the recall technically is not in effect. This happened on January 18th, 2024. My concerns: 1. Dealers are being unreasonable. 2. I was driving my child in this car since 2020. Ford has known since 2021 that there is a safety issue. But because no one actually died it's OK? I know the recall is coming. But I want to add...
We bought a car on Halloween of '22 with 13k miles. In July of '23 our engine blew to wetbelt degrading. We replaced that engine and in August of '23 it blew again due to the same issue. Replaced that engine and in Jan of '24 it happened a third time, both times lasting less than 5k miles. We have maintenaned regular maintenance on the original, and the 2 replacements never reached the maintenance schedule times. These vehicles are extremely dangerous as the motor locks up as well as the brakes. When the engine goes, it's nearly impossible to steer or even brake. These vehicles should NOT even be on the road! Even with a recall, Ford is still unwilling to even help at all. They are literally risking their customer's lives for a profit.
Low oil pressure light came on out of nowhere. Had it towed and they said the oil pump belt tensioner belt was damaged. Destroyed my entire engine. Had 72,000 miles. Ford is saying they won’t pay because they don’t know how to fix it. It is the recall issue that ford released. I need help
Car became sluggish and loud for a couple days before car indicated oil pressure issue car is now inoperable need fixed but don't have the money because car is still financed with ford and no help with issue was informed its all our responsibility I just want my car fixed or told I'll be reimbursed if I have it repaired myself
The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that while his wife was driving 70 MPH, the oil pressure warning light illuminated. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and was turned off. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then towed to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The oxygen sensors have been replaced two times but keep getting a signal about them. Engine light stays on. Keep getting different codes about exhaust levels that are triggering different functions. I was stopped at a light and smelled gas briefly. Went to a store and came back to the car with engine light on. Got a oil change and had spark plugs replaced but still nothing was fixed
The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the low oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact continued driving; however, the vehicle failed to respond upon depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and the contact was able to pull into her driveway. The contact engaged the electric parking brake and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the oil pump belt was fractured, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,714.
Low oil pressure warning on dash, engine lost power while driving. Vehicle stalled and would not restart. Oil level was good. Towed to shop and was informed of an oil pump drive belt failure causing internal engine damage and turbocharger failure. No warning lights prior to incident. I am the technician filing this for our customer.
Oil pump failure at 70000 miles leaving daughter stranded
The low oil pressure light came on and we took the vehicle to a shop and they told us that we need an engine
On December 18, 2023 I started my vehicle for the day when I noticed the low oil pressure warning come on and off very fast, didn’t think anything of it because it didn’t do it the rest of the day. The next day the same thing happened, very fast flicker of the warning so I made an appointment with the dealer to have it checked out. December 20, 2024 it stayed on longer this time and the red oil indicator came on as well. Dropped it off at the dealer on December 21, 2023 & after testing the issue was the oil pump failing and the vehicle needed an engine replacement at 59,294 miles. The dealer stated the car had no oil pressure, metal flakes in the oil, damage to cam caps and heat scoring. Luckily it was covered under the powertrain warranty or it would have been over $6000...
MY 2020 FORD ECOSPORT shows the engine symbol and the maintenance symbol and every so often my car wouldnt have power or it would just shut off while im in park while inside the vehicle. at first i thought it was a battery issue so i fully recharged my battery and than less than a month later im experiencing the same issue. i looked online and there is countless claims all stating similar issues like mine. my car has around 35k miles on it. i would greatly appreciated some more knowledge on the situation
Our company has purchased 8- 2018-2022 Ford EcoSports similar to the VIN on this complaint. 5 of the 8 purchased have required engine replacement due to oil pressure related issues. One had just 20k miles, one had mid 40K miles, one had 52K miles and another 68k miles. And we had another today with just 58K miles. This seems to be a chronic issue with these engines.
I was driving on Interstate 10 between Casa Grande and Tucson at around 81 mph, and pushed on the accelerator a bit more to get in front of a car when the warning indicator turned on. It said "Low Engine Oil Pressure". Immediately the car lost all acceleration while I was in the left lane. I had to immediately turn on my hazard lights and get to the right lane, while slowly losing speed. I did not feel safe pulling onto the shoulder and there was an exit about a mile away from where it all started so we essentially were cruising, losing speed, to the exit. We pulled into a gas station parking lot while we figured what was going on. This happened while I was driving in the left lane of a 3 lane interstate with a speed limit of 75mph. I believe that our safety was put...
Driving around town and the low oil pressure warning come on the dash and the vehicle had loss of power. The vehicle was parked the oil was full and oil changed was done 2 weeks earlier. No the vehicle sounds load.
My husband was driving when both the oil light and the engine light came on. He lost power. Thankfully he was on a road with no traffic. The oil pump is not working. The engine needs to be replaced only after 3 years. Took it to the dealership, they told him that the engine would need to be replaced. He was then told he could drive it back home, he was in a different county than what we live. We took it to a non dealership shop and they told us the same thing. Called Ford, they told me there was nothing that they could do. I have $12,549 left to pay so a trade in is out of the question. Please help
Oil Pressure loss, possible belt failure.
Lost power to my car. Took it to get look at and they told me oil pump pressure belt quit working and caused major engine problems. It tore up the engine as well as the turbo and now I need awhole new engine. I am now paying for a car that I can't drive. Ford told me they can't help me because my warranty just ran out.
Oil pump failed causing engine to seize
While on a 4 hour trip, after about two hours, the car suddenly started alerting "low engine oil pressure". I keep my car maintained, but thought perhaps there was a leak. I went got my oil changed, and still the alert was present. I reduced my speed to get to my closest relative. While getting off the interstate, the brakes malfunctioned. My car is a ford ecosport ecoboost. The ford dealership is saying the engine and the turbo have to be replaced. Once I researched online, I saw that I was not the only person this happened to. I could have died when those brakes malfunctioned. By the grace of God I made to my relative's and they towed my car from there.
