I took my vehicle into Apple Ford in Columbia, MD for a safety recall. They proceeded to tell me that my engine, the crankshaft, and the turbo also need to be replaced but will not cover it even though these issues were caused by the safety recall. Everything online says that with this recall the engine should be replaced under the recall. We had small issues with the car about a year ago that were taken care of. This safety recall is also unresolved according to Ford so how can i even get anything fixed?
The failure involves the engine/powertrain system, specifically the engine oil pressure system, resulting in loss of engine power and a subsequent loss of effective braking assistance. The vehicle displayed a low engine oil pressure warning and a “powertrain system fault” message prior to the loss of braking effectiveness. The vehicle is currently not being driven and is available for inspection upon request. The engine was previously replaced in April 2025 as part of a recall-related interim remedy following an engine failure, yet the same symptoms have since reoccurred. My safety and the safety of others were placed at immediate and severe risk. On December 26, 2025, while driving at highway speed in heavy rain, the vehicle rapidly decelerated from approximately 79 mph to 60 mph, creating a dangerous situation in active freeway traffic. After exiting the freeway, the risk escalated when the vehicle experienced a loss of effective braking. While...
At 56k miles, it failed to start, had it towed to the dealership july 2nd. Told it was the engine and was under warranty and ford would send a new short block with an eta of 7-10 days. It’s been 5, going in 6 months now and no engine. They gave me a loaner but today asked for it back and they don’t have another loaner for me, so I’m on foot now and have to work. 5 going on 6 months is a crazy long time to wait
Repair due to Recall associated with Ecoboost Engine. From 9/30/25 to 11/13/25 car was at dealership to receive a new engine to replace faulty one. Not even 30 minutes after getting car back check engine light came back on. Was informed by Ford Corporate that the dealership will not make another attempt at repair. Faulty engine was replaced with another bad engine. Safety is at risk with mechanical issues. Vehicle does not qualify for Lemon Law but in good faith Ford should buy car back. There is no solution for recall.
I took my 2020ford eco sport to fix the recall at Grapevine Texas Ford dealership. They took about 10 days to work on my car and said that the recall fix is complete. I was able to pick up the car from dealership and drive home, however when I started the car again, it had the Check engine light on. I called the dealership right away and they asked me to bring back the car right away. While I was driving the car back to the dealership, I realized the car would barely accelerate. I was already on the highway while I was figuring out what’s going on. I somehow made it to the dealership and is currently being looked into. I can’t trust if that car is safe anymore and I can’t trust if Ford technicians can fix the problem. They have created a huge safety hazard for me...
Vehicle was sent in for recall repair on oil pump for 1.0L 3cyl engine, immediately upon pickup new engine was vibrating and misfiring, ford stated that a $500 fee is required for diagnosis regardless of it being their fault.
My husband and I were driving down the interstate out of town and the oil pressure light came on as we were exiting. We were close to our destination and decided to check the oil when we stopped. Within seconds I could not accelerate beyond 40 MPH with RPMs climbing up to to 5-6. We checked the oil stick which was fine. Tried to drive to the ford dealership which was less than 3 miles away. After getting less than a third of a mile from where we were the dash lit up and went completely dark and wouldn’t start up.
There is a known recall for this vehicle (Reference NHTSA Safety Recall 23V905) related to the engine oil pump drive belt tensioner arm. According to the recall notice, it says "Parts are now available to repair your vehicle" and "please have this recall performed as soon as possible". My local Ford Dealership has denied my request to have this recall serviced, and refused to schedule me a future appointment for this service, and also could not provide me any approximate date on when this service might be available to me. They said they would not perform this recall unless the part has already failed and the vehicle would therefore have to be towed in, which I have in an email communication from the dealership. This obviously is a direct contradiction of the statement issued in the recall notice, so I wanted to report this as a complaint.
This vehicle suffered a complete engine failure that has been directly linked to the defective engine oil pump, which is the subject of multiple Ford recalls and NHTSA campaign references for EcoSport and Focus models (2016–2022). Despite this known defect, Ford has refused to cover the repair or offer relief, leaving the consumer with a non-functioning vehicle and a significant outstanding loan balance. Details: • Engine failure occurred despite regular maintenance and diligent payment of the auto loan. • Consumer received Ford correspondence acknowledging oil pump failure risks. • Capital City Bank, the lienholder, continues to demand payments for a vehicle that is mechanically inoperable due to a defect outside the consumer’s control. • This defect has created financial hardship and left the consumer without reliable transportation.
On March 13, 2025, while driving, my 2020 Ford EcoSport suddenly lost power and shut down. The vehicle is under Recall 23S64 (oil pump failure). I had to tow it to a shop, which confirmed low oil pressure, then to Ford, who confirmed complete engine failure and replaced the engine parts. I was without a vehicle for 34 days and Ford refused to provide a rental unless it was a Ford-brand, which was unavailable. After the engine replacement, further issues occurred: check engine light, battery failure, overheating, coolant leaks, and multiple installation errors including a missing coolant line bracket (causing leaks), cross-threaded turbo-to-cat converter stud, missing splash shield, and broken overflow line. Repairs cost thousands of dollars out-of-pocket. On May 13, 2025, a new recall was issued on the replacement engine, meaning my car remains unsafe despite the prior recall fix. These failures created unsafe driving conditions (loss of power...
I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL IN A ONLINE NEWS ARTICLE IN DECEMBER 2024. FORD NEVER ADVISED. WHEN I WENT TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP Winner Ford FOR AN OIL CHANGE IN NOVEMBER 2024 THEY DID NOT ADVISE OF THE RECALL EITHER. THIS NEW DEALER Willis Ford I SAW IN MAY 2025 CONFIRMED THAT THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE SINCE THEY FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN MY CHANGED OUT OIL. THEY ADVISED THEY WOULD INSPECT MY VEHICLE AND REACH OUT TO FORD FOR PERMISSION TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. AS OF 2 WEEKS AGO THIS DEALERSHIP WAS NOT AWARE THAT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE AND WERE GOING TO GIVE ME A LOANER WHILE I WAITED FOR INSPECTION. THEY OFFERED ANOTHER ECOSPORT THAT THEY CLAIM HAD BEEN INSPECTED AND WAS SAFE. MY ISSUE IS WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR NOT ADVISING ME OF THE RECALL. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN MY CAR BUT...
Got an appointment with Honolulu Ford, Hawaii to check the recall for oil pump and belt they saint we don`t have the part, keep driving till engine blow up then we might replace it I`m a dealer sold the car for customer to use it fot Turo, need to clear the recall If the car blow up or burn, soo dangerous and no repair or part available
On [XXX] I was riding down the road and the Low Engine Oil light came on. I came home and looked for the recall paper that I received in the mail. I found it and that's what the recall was for. I immediately took my car into Jim Hudson Ford in Lexington SC. They put it on the machine and found it was in fact the recall issue. They are telling me the engine is on National back order and they have no idea when they will be getting the engine. In the meantime they have no rentals. I have been without a vehicle since [XXX]. They claim I am now 2nd on the list but I will not believe it until I see it. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
There is an open recall on my 2020 Ford EcoSport (VIN: [XXX] ) involving the engine oil pump. The recall was issued back in 2023, and I have been repeatedly told that the part would be available “at the beginning of the year” — first in 2023, then 2024, and now again in 2025. Each time, no resolution has come, and the part remains unavailable. This delay has made my vehicle unsafe and unreliable. I’ve been unable to drive it confidently or use it for essential transportation. Despite contacting both Ford and the original dealership (Preston Ford West in Randallstown, MD), I have received no specific repair date or clear guidance — only repeated postponements year after year. Meanwhile, I am forced to continue making high monthly loan payments on a vehicle I cannot safely operate. This has become a financial burden as well as a safety risk. I am...
The engine oil pressure became low, resulting in the vehicle slowing down while driving on the highway in inclement weather. Currently scheduled for service on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Low oil pressure warning light came on. Light appeared 5 minutes prior to start of engine failure.
I was driving on a highway in Florida and the engine oil pressure light came on with no warning. In the past if there was low oil, I would receive an alert on the vehicle and on my phone. This warning provided no notice and abruptly lowered the speed of my vehicle. I was not able to drive faster than 40 MPH, and that speed dropped again to about 20 MPH as I was finding a safe location to stop. Adding oil did not remedy this issue. I had to get my vehicle towed to a Ford location where I was told they would only give me the value of $4K for my vehicle trade in. I was stranded in a city I was not familiar with and had no alternative means of lodging or transportation. This was a known recall and Ford took advantage of my situation. I feel...

THIS RECALL BEING UNABLE TO BE COMPLETED IS CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE AND RESTRICTING MY DRIVING. I CAN NOT EVEN MAKE IT HOME FROM WORK WITH OUT THE CAR TRYING TO STOP, TEMP IS WAY UP AND OIL PREASSURE DROPS. ARIZONA'S HOT WEATHER INCREASES THIS ISSUE. PART WERE PROMISED FIRST QUARTER OF THIS YEAR.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. In addition, the engine overheated and seized. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be completely cleaned out and detailed prior to being serviced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with several failures, and DTC: P0217, P0496, P04DB, P1825 and P1299 were retrieved. Additionally, the contact stated the engine had been replaced by the dealer in February 2023; however, the contact was informed that the warranty had since expired. The contact stated that four days after the repair, the check engine warning light had illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken...
The flex plate on the engine broke causing a loss of power and the vehicle stalled and was unable to be restarted.
There has been a recall for a while now that Ford has not fixed in a timely manner. Recall itself has been active going on 2 years. Now my car is broke down at the dealership which states it could be months before a fix is available and complete. Leaving us with no car. Dealership says there are 16 people in front of us waiting on a loaner. Manufacturer refuses to pay for a rental.
The low engine oil pressure light was flashing, and the car would not drive any faster than 40 mph. By the time I got home the brakes were extremely hard to push so I had to use emergency brake to stop. My engine was seized. Ford had my vehicle from November 13, 2024-January 29, 2025. The dealership told me they replaced my engine, and over time this will happen again. I don’t feel safe driving long distances and I just had to replace the brakes costing $578. The car only has 67,000 miles on it and when I bought it, there was 40,000 miles on it.
I was driving my vehicle on the expressway when it started to shake and slow down. A message then appeared on my screen to check the engine oil level. At this point my car could not speed up past 40 mph and my engine was making a loud knocking noise. I took it to Valvoline and they informed me all my fluids were good. When I left the problem persisted, and my car speed dropped to 33 mph in a 55 mph lane.
-The oil pump failed while I was driving on the interstate. My vehicle suddenly lost power without warning. There was moderate traffic, and I almost did not make it to the shoulder in time, having to swerve around vehicles. -My vehicle was towed to a Ford Dealership and their service department told me "The engine tore itself apart from the inside" and that repairs would be "About $7000". From there it was towed to my driveway. It has been sitting in my driveway since July 2023. I've been forced to continue making payments on it this entire time. -I attempted to have the recall repair scheduled three times at a Ford dealership, but each attempt failed: *December 2024 (in-person visit): I was turned away and told to schedule later. *January 2025 (phone call): Provided my information, but never received a follow-up. *February 2025 (online service request): Ford never responded. ---Because...
The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The contact proceeded to drive and shortly afterward the message, "Oil Pressure Low" was displayed. The contact parked the vehicle on the side of the highway and had the vehicle towed to a local independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the timing belt and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,825.
For the past 3 weeks my check engine light would appear then disappear. On 01-09-25 I scheduled with a in town loco mechanic shop. Gave him my worries about how my check engine light sometimes comes on. I was advised to take my vehicle to the Ford dealership because they could not replace the sensors I needed, only Ford can?? I picked up my car and the check engine light was not on. Today [XXX] in the morning check engine light is on. Once I put the gear in drive my vehicle was struggling for speed. It struggled so much that it made me a bit nervous that I returned home right away. So……I decided to do a little research on my vehicle. It has low mileage. Oh boy. I didn’t know Ford had some recalls. I plan on requesting an inspection from the manufacturer. I was never informed or...
The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to depress the accelerator pedal; however, there was a loss in automotive power. The failure occurred on several occasions. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the residence. A dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, and the contact was informed that the vehicles with a present failure were being prioritized for repair. The local dealer could not identify the failure, and the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,379. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I was on the highway when my car started to light up on the dashboard and the car started to slow down and wouldn’t move. Took it to ford and they had to replace the whole engine but now even after the replacement the car is slow, doesn’t heat up and shakes.
I broke down in the middle of nowhere while roadtripping. My engine fuel pressure light came on. The closet Ford was an hour away. 20 mins in my engine started making a horrible sound. I had to pay to get myself and it towed the rest of the way. After being diagnosed by the dealership, the recall of the oil fuel pump/belt completely failed and went through my engine. If I had continued driving my engine would have seized. I now need a whole new engine in which Ford said will take a minimum of a month before my car will be fixed. up until this point I always took care of routine maintenance and oil changes even having my whole car completed inspected last month. There were no warnings once so ever up until the actual moment the part was failing and the warning came up on my dash.
Like the recall states, I have lost oil pressure so the engine is not running properly. I have lost the ability to brake properly as well.
There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. I found out about the recall when I was researching how to operate my vehicle. I made an appointment to have the recall repair made on April 5, 2024. On April 8. 2024, the dealer called back the Service Manager stated, "They aren't processing the recalls unless the vehicle is on the side of the road." I called several other dealers and they stated they also would not repair the vehicle. On [XXX], the engine oil pump drive belt tensioner arm fractured and separated from the tensioner backing plate. The oil pump drive belt lost teeth and the car lost engine oil pressure. There was a loss of motive power and a loss of mechanical vacuum pump the vehicle lost all power and shut down. I was sitting at a light in the middle...
My ecosport’s coolant reservoir has a leak. Due to this, my car overheated and went into limp mode. A week later, my ecosport would crank but not start, I believe this is due to a cracked cylinder from the oil pump recall. I received a recall notice for the oil pump in June with no current remedy. Now, I am having these issues with my vehicle. A mobile mechanic looked at my vehicle.
My engine blew up due to this recall in the beginning of July. It is now October. Car still at leonardtown ford. I had a rental until I purchased another vehicle this month. When I turned in rental I was charged 1455 dollars as the part ford claims the won't cover. I tried to get a loaner for weeks only to be told no loaners available. I have a rep at Ford and a case number however no one knows if or when I may be reimbursed for that money. This is horrible. This situation is because thier engine failed. I just want my money back and to move on.
On Tuesday, [XXX] I could have been killed on the highway due to the recall from Ford. I’m thankful I am alive today. I was driving when my engine oil pressure light came on, my speed slowed down, my car was rumbling, my engine locked up and I had to weave through traffic to pull over on the side of the road. I had to spend money to have it towed to a mechanic. The mechanic told me it was most likely caused by the recall. I had it towed to Ford in Crestview, FL. Ford said they are also pretty sure it was due to the recall. Ford Crestview told me it could take WEEKS to diagnose, and then I would have to have a whole new engine/parts in which Ford won’t have until 2025. My car will be sitting at Ford for MONTHS. Ford does not care. They...
Wet belt problem needs new engine. Ford will only cover 40.00 a day for a Ford rental. No rentals in bay area at that price. Won't be fixed for over 6 months.
Engine is junk parts broken that is the recall problem. Can not be driven. The low oil pressure light came on about 2 miles from my house. Was towed to a mechanic who took oil pan off. An found broken parts. An to repeat engine is junk. Had a oil change 8/9/24.
See attached document for complaint

There has been no incident because we are afraid to drive the car due to the recalled part. The first letter regarding the recall stated the parts were anticipated 2nd quarter 2024. Now it's 1st quarter 2025. What are we supposed to do in the meantime? Drive it and wait to be stranded on the highway? And will Ford push off the fix again once 2025 comes? There has to be a better solution in the wait-time.
Receive a recall notice in Feb 2024. On March 30, 2024 vehicle oil light/engine light came on and started to engine noise. Because of the recall, it stated not to drive vehicle if this happens because it could cause an accident. Had vehicle tolled to Titusville Florida dealership on April 1, 2024. Was told that they were going to order parts, but available until 2nd quarter of 2024. Call Ford service customer Claim # CXH02216288. asked for a car to use while waiting for repairs. Dealership told me that I was approved for a rental, but after 4 weeks, I went into dealership to ask about rental and they told me they waiting for one the be available. I had to get other transportation. Received another notice from NHTSA that the parts would not be available until 1st quarter 2025. So I requested for Ford to do a buy out...
My engine blew up because of this faulty part. I have not had my vehicle since Oct. So, I was forced to go get a rental car because, I still needed transportation too and from work. I spent over $4,000. Since March on a rental car plus still payed $483. A month for my vehicle that was just sitting in my drive way. Ford just now took my vehicle in to check it and told me that it would need a whole engine. Ford finally gave me a loner vehicle so that I wouldn't have to keep paying for a rental car. I have contacted Ford corporations many time in hope to try and get reimbursement for the rental car that I paid for this whole time and they are telling me that there is nothing they can do about reimbursement for the rental car. I am very upset with...
The pressure light came on and car started shaking and lost power. Called Ford to be told parts not available to call a dealership and they said they can’t do anything at this time or provide me with a loaner. And I have to literally have my car towed because I was stuck on the side of the highway. If this is a recall Ford or the dealership are not doing anything to help me.
Car had known recall and dealership was notified prior to this happening and I was advised that I was fine. Few months later, oil pump failed and seized engine while merging onto I40 with my 2 children in the backseat. Crash had almost happened but I was able to safely stop the vehicle and remove my kids from the smoking car. Small grass fire started under the car as the oil flooded from underneath my car but self estinguished. My car has been at the dealership for almost a month and they plan to put the same recalled part back into my car until remedy is available in November 2025. Front driver airbag also has a recall that it may not deploy if vehicle crashes which vehicle is already at risk for. There was no warning signs or symptoms.
On [XXX] @ 8:45 pm my vehicle was at a stop light. I started to go forward and hill assist start notification came up as vehicle turned back on from sitting idle due to the ecosport design. As slowly accelerating the wrench icon came on, check engine light came on. Vehicle lost power and speed dropped to less than 5 miles an hour. I had to floor the gas pedal to get enough speed to switch lanes and get off the road safely. I had to pay to have the vehicle towed to a dealership. This all occurs after the following previous events. On 6/25/24 my Vehicle was serviced for sporadic check engine lights that would come and go quickly. The dealership had some reprogramming done, an oil change, and a a transmission inspection. Stated all good and the vehicle was returned on Friday, June 28th. Back in April 2024...
My daughter has informed me that the oil pressure light has come on and off and the engine starts shaking . I know the current recall they have out has to do with the oil pressure. I called Ford and explained to them what was going on and was told to call a dealership to make an appointment they said I would have to wait to get it in and they already have one and can’t get parts to repair it yet. I was told by Ford and the dealer ship that there is nothing stating she can’t drive it but if possible they don’t recommend it. So I am not sure what she should do because she relies on this vehicle every day. Being it’s a major recall should Ford have to provide a rental car until it’s looked at.
Low oil pressure light came on and engine making loud noise. Had towed to Way Brothers Ford in Hawkinsville GA 183 BROAD STREET HAWKINSVILLE GA 31036 PHONE 478-892-9141. Original diagnostic check on day vehicle failed [XXX]: "diag found code p0365 p0369 found oil pump belt broken necessary to remove and replace engine..." On repair invoice when engine was replaced [XXX]: "engine oil pump belt loose causing the engine to lose oil pressure; engine has internal damage; low on compression". I HAVE PAID A TOTAL OF $3,775 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALER STATES THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANYTHING FROM THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE REGARDING REIMBURSING THIS COST SO THEY ARE REFUSING TO REIMBURSE THE COST INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Unknown Taken to dealer, they said they could not reproduce issue. No warnings. Loss of power, car feels like shifts very hard. Has been experienced while I have passengers with me. Happens pretty much on a daily basis at various speeds. Sometimes when I start to go from a stop, sometimes when accelerating while driving.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The engine was replaced, and the failure was remedied. The failure mileage was 107,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
