automatic shifter cable bushing failed causing me to be stuck in a parking lot in park (P) and not shift gears. gear shift moved but did not actually shift leaving me stuck. bushing under hood connected to trans when first investigated by myself, was in fact connected just fine with no issues to be seen. issued was identified to be the bushing failing under the actual gear shifter itself after the dealership tore my car apart. the tech manually put my car in drive so I could drive it to the dealership to have them fully diagnose the problem and just that is &100. dodge dealership tells me that the recall was completed in may of 2020 on only the bushing connecting to the transmission under the hood. dealership wants $620 to replace the full cable and bushings because the bushing under gear shifter was not replaceable nor does it...
I bought my 2013 Dodge Dart (I bought it used and out of warranty-it is now a little over 100,000 miles). My girlfriend was driving it down a four lane highway when all of a sudden the car came to a complete stop, it wouldn’t go into drive, reverse or parks, my girlfriend had to push the car off of a four lane highway and out of the way of oncoming traffic. The accelerator would not work, and it said "service transmission". I looked it up and it's a recall issue (recall R42) for Dodge Darts made between 2013 and 2015 Darts with a 1.4l engine and a dry dial clutch transmission (I have this model). I got it to a local dealership (who said the recall was fixed in august 2016) and they've had it for almost a week and called today and said there are no issues with...
I have a 2013 Dodge Dart that's been having issues since i got the car. First my transmission goes out, get a new one 02/21 then 7/21 service transmission. Take my car to the shop the TCM needs to be replace. My car would start and move than all of sudden i can't move Auto Stick unavailable shift to N then D then my car is stuck. I can't move only can drift. This is crazy I see that the Dodge Dart has 6 recall and i only received recall postcard for bushel cords? My car is having the same problems the recall was inplace for but my car doesn't qualify? My life don't matter huh? The car doesn't have many miles on the car, i service my car (oil changes, tires rotated and replace) I just don't understand. Someone is going to get hurt driving these Dodge Darts.
The failure was when i was shifting gear .so i shifted 5 to 4,3,2 and thats when it stayed in 2 gear .i exit the freeway and drove the street to my home .the vechicle at that point only travel 21 mph .2 years prior i had a similar issue on the freeway and my kids where with me at the time of the failure. So i had to pull to the shoulder and try to encounter the issue at a peaceful way .like i said i had my kids with me and 9:45 p.m. .so i tooked me 2 hours to move the vehicle to a safer place and had my friend give me a ride home .next day i have the tow truck picked up the vehicle and take it to dodge dealer .they fixed it with no charge towards me .but now this second time they are...
On June 16, 2021 I exited a parking lot and joined a line of traffic that was stopped for a stoplight. Traffic began to move and as I stepped on the accelerator the engine started ROARING and the car accelerated uncontrollably across the opposite lane and into a utility pole. It was totaled and I was left badly bruised by the airbag explosion; I have also found I have strange noises in my ears and am seeing an otolaryngologist for that. The car has ben disposed of and I don't know where it is. I am fortunate that there was no oncoming traffic, no one was on the sidewalk and I was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The only one who may have inspected the car was the insurance adjuster. There was no warning of any kind and I had never experienced this before.
Failure in The transmission control module (tcm) causing the car to shift to neutral when driving and also not letting the car shift to any other gear past 2nd my safety and others are at risk because I can be rear ended due to it randomly going into neutral it has been confirmed by many mechanics and there are warning lights such as the check engine light confirming it
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE AND JERKED REALLY HARD. MY CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE RPM'S JUST KEPT RIVING UP BUT CAR WAS NOT GOING ANY FASTER. IT HAS DONE THIS TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK. THE DEALERSHIP PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER AND RAN SOME TESTS AND CLEARED OUT ALL CODES AND UPDATED SOME STUFF AND TOLD ME TO LET HI KNOW IF THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. WELL ON THE WAY HOME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND DID THE SAME THING AND JERKED REALLY HARD MAKING MY CAR SLOW DOWN AND NOT ACCELERATE. THE CODE SAYS THE PCM/TCM BUT IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT. IT ACTS LIKE IT DOESNT WANT TO SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR.

I WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN I TURNED THE CORNER TO PROCEED ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR WOULD NOT SPEED UP. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AND IT WAS ONLY REVING UP THE ENGINE LIKE IT WAS STUCK. CLUTCH SLAVE/THROWOUT BEARING FAILURE 3 TIMES IN LESS THAN 100K MILES. EACH TIME CAUSES CONTIMINATION OF CLUTCH/FLYWHEEL AND 10 HOURS TO REPLACE. THE PART IS FAULTY AND HAS NOT BEEN REVISED WITH A PART THAT CAN SURVIVE REGULAR USE. ALSO TRANSMISSION FAILURE BEFORE 100K AS WELL.

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR.
THE SHIFTER LINKAGE BUSHING BROKE AND FELL FROM THE HOUSING RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE TO BE STUCK IN REVERSE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE.
AFTER RECEIVING MY CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I CONTACTED THEM ABOUT IT AND HE HOOKED IT UP TP MACHINE TOLD ME TO WATCH FOR THE LIGHT AGAIN AND LET HIM KNOW. I DONT DRIVE MY CAR MUCH SO IT WAS ABOUT A WEEK LATER WHEN I NOTICED THE ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN SO I TOOK IT TO OREILLEY'S AND THE CODE P2096 WHICH IS FUEL TO RATIO WHICH HAS BEEN A PROBLEM MORE THEN I CAN COUNT. MY CAR ALWAYS SMELLS LIKE GAS FUMES THAT'S WHY I TRY NOT TO DRIVE IT UNLESS I CAN KEEPS WINDOWS DOWN BECAUSE THE SMELL IS VERY STRONG. THE CLUTCH SUNK IN - GOT STUCK - AND IT DID NOT RETRACT. I HAD TO PHYSICALLY RETRACT THE CLUTCH WITH MY FOOT IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY SWITCH GEARS WHILST I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY WHERE THE COMMON SPEED IS 70+ MPHS. THIS CONTINUED AS I WAS TRYING TO REDUCE THE SPEED IN ORDER TO EXIT THE FREEWAY FOR SAFETY. THIS HAS NOT BEEN THE FIRST TIME AND IT HAPPENED TO ME - BUT THIS IS THE MOST RECENT ACCOUNT OF EVENTS. USUALLY WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION.
I WAS DRIVING OVER A MOUNTAIN PASS WHEN I GOT A MESSAGE "GEAR NOT AVAILABLE" AFTER PUTTING ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO THROUGH THE GEARS. I TURNED AROUND AND WENT HOME WITH VEHICLE BARELY GOING THROUGH GEARS WHEN SLOWED AND THEN SPEEDING UP. I HAD NO REVERSE WHEN STOPPED TO HAVE CHECKED AND LEAVING THE PARKING LOT. I HAD PROBLEMS GETTING BACK UP TO DRIVING SPEED AFTER SLOWING DOWN.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED THE RECALLS ALL HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF MULTIPLE TIMES AND YET THE SAME PROBLEM I NEED A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE I'VE SPENT WAY MORE THAN THE VEHICLES WORTH
THE CAR ONLY HAS 65,374 MILES ON IT AND IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION.
BACK IN THE BEGINNING OF 2019 I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS CAUSING A JERKING MOTION WHEN I ACCELERATED AND I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. I INITIALLY HAD A CODE COME UP STATING THAT I NEEDED TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION. IT WOULD COME ON AND CLEAR ITSELF BEFORE I COULD GET IT LOOKED AT. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT IN AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN OVER THE NEXT SIX MONTHS OR MORE AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THEM AND DISCUSSED THE RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION THEY DISMISSED ME AS THAT WASN'T THE ISSUE BUT, AT THAT POINT I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED INTO THE SHOP BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE SINCE I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE IT. THE ENGINE IS STALLING WHEN EVER THE CAR IS DRIVEN AND ALSO THE PCM IS UNABLE TO KEEP UP THE CHARGING.
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A DEAD STOP IT HESITATES AND JERKS IF YOU GIVE IT TOO MUCH GAS EVERY TIME YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL OR SLOW TO A STOP SOMETHING POPPING IN THE FRONT END IF YOU TAKE OFF TOO FAST IT'LL BACKFIRE LITTLE POPS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ALWAYS COMING ON SAYING THAT WE HAVE MULTIPLE MISFIRES WHEN WE DON'T WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON THE AUTOMATIC START DOESN'T WORK AND WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS BLINKING
CAR RANDOMLY REVS AND GOES INTO A STEALTH MODE WHERE YOU MUST DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE ENGINE. ALSO THE CAR RANDOMLY STATES THAT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK WHEN IT IS AND YOU MUST CONTINUOUSLY PULL THE CAR OUT OF PARK AND BACK INTO PARK FOR THE CAR TO RECOGNIZE ITS ACTUALLY IN PARK.
MY CLUTCH HAS WENT OUT FOR THE 3RD TIME SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR. IT APPEARS THAT EVERY 2 YEARS AFTER THE FIRST YEAR I HAVE TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH. IT ISN'T COVERED BECAUSE THEY SAY IT IS WEAR AND TEAR. WHEN I WENT ONLINE I FOUND THAT MANY MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS. THIS CAR WAS POORLY DESIGNED AND THE COMPANY REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. THE CLUTCH WAS APPARENTLY DESIGNED TO STAY ENGAGED WHICH WEARS IT OUT WITHOUT THE USER DOING ANYTHING. 2 TIMES IT HAS WENT OUT ON ME WHILE DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET ONCE WHILE TRYING TO TURN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHICH IS DANGEROUS. BUSHING ON THE SHIFT CABLE OF THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION COMES LOOSE. CAR CANNOT BE SHIFTED. THIS OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT BUT COULD HAVE OCCURRED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. BASICALLY, THE CAR REMAINS STUCK IN ONE GEAR. NOTE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BUT NOT THE MANUAL. IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING AT BELOW HIGHWAY SPEEDS, EG CROSSING AN INTERSECTION IN SUBURBAN NEW JERSEY. THE ENGINE CUTS OUT, RANDOM MESSAGES ON THE INFORMATION CENTER APPEAR, AND THE DRIVE MUST COAST TO A STOP AND RESTART THE CAR. IT'S UNPREDICTABLE AND INTERMITTENT, WITH NO OBD CODE TO HELP DEALER DIAGNOSE OR REPLICATE. THE CAUSE IS PRESENTLY UNKNOWN DESPITE DEALER EFFORT.

THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS INTO NEUTRAL ON IT'S OWN, FOR US IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN WE STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THEN IT'S DISPLAYED TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND THEN TO DRIVE OR REVERSE, THIS MAY HAVE TO BE PERFORMED TWO OR THREE TIMES BEFORE THE CAR MOVE, THEN WE ONLY HAVE THE EVEN OR THE ODD GEARS DEPENDING ON WITCH CLUTCH ACTIVATES. THIS HAPPENED ON A FOUR LANE SUBURBAN ROAD WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 50 MPH AND WILL HAPPEN WHEN THE TRANSMISSION GETS TO FULL TEMPERATURE. THIS VEHICLE HAD THE RECALL 15V-542 PERFORMED 08/25/15. AFTER SEVERAL TCM FAILURES ABUSING THE TRANSMISSION PRIOR TO THE RECALL, THE TRANSMISSION NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL ISSUE FIRST HAPPENED JULY OF 2014.

SHIFT CONNECTOR CABLE GAVE OUT IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WHILE IN MOTION. HAD TO REV A BIT HIGHER IN ORDER TO GET IT TO GAIN ANY MOMENTUM ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF OTHER VEHICLES. THE AUTOMATIC VERSION OF 2013 DODGE DARTS WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BUT FOR WHATEVER UNEXPLAINED REASON THEY DID NOT INCLUDE STANDARDS(STICK SHIFTS) IN THE RECALL AS FAR AS I CAN FIND ANYWHERE. MY CAR IS IN SHOP NOW WHILE I'M WORKING FAR FROM HOME ETC. DEFINITELY SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

I HAD THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY REPLACED ON MY OWN BECAUSE DODGE WANTED A OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT AND GO FIGURE IT WASN'T THE ISSUE BECAUSE MY CAR IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR WAS ALSO DEFECTIVE AND THE RADIATOR WAS PUNCTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER PATTERSON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM STORE (1611 US-259 BUS, KILGORE, TX 75662, (903) 871-7578), WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING MASTER SEAL FOR THE CLUTCH TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
MY VEHICLE HAS HAD TWO RECALLS DONE ON IT. TCM REPAIR AND TRANSMISSION CABLE BUSHING. I TOOK IT TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC. MY TCM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN & MY TRANSMISSION WON'T SHIFT SOMETIMES AFTER MY TRANSMISSION BUSHING REPAIR.
THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY MOVES TO NEUTRAL AND THE GEARS DO NOT WORK. I TOOK THE CAR FOR A RECALL ON CABLE BUSHING ON THE TRANSMISSION AND I CAN DRIVE THE CAR FOR A BIT BUT WILL FALL IN NEUTRAL BY ITSELF HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE FOR THE DEALER TO REPAIR THE CAR.
RECALL R42 WAS COMPLETED ON MAY 7 2018, AS OF TODAY THE VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE ORIGINAL SAFETY RECALL BOTH THE DEALER AND FCA SAID THAT THE 2 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE TCM HAS EXPIRED BY 2 MONTHS. APPARENTLY THE SAFETY RECALL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED AND THE ISSUE CONTINUES. THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR A NEW TCM. I FEEL THAT THE FIX THEY DID ORIGINALLY WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AND DODGE SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BY TAKING CARE OF THE SAME PROBLEM.
I OWN A 2013 DODGE DART AND THE SHIFTER CABLE THAT WAS RECALLED IN MAY OF 2013 HAS FAILED AGAIN AND I CAN NOT TURN MY KEY ALL THE WAY TO THE OFF POSITION THEREFORE EITHER HAVE TO LEAVE MY CAR RUNNING OR TURN IT WHERE IT SHUTS OFF THE ENGINE BUT DOESNT SHUT EVERYTHING ELSE OFF AND DOORS CAN NOT BE LOCKED. TRANSMISSION FAILED AFTER 56,000 MILES. PRIOR TRANSMISSION RELATED RECALL WAS PERFORMED. THIS TIME IT APPEARS THAT SOMETHING BROKE INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION RENDERING IT UNABLE TO SHIFT. BASED ON THE VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS IN VARIOUS DODGE DART FORUMS, THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, NOT UNIQUE TO MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE.
