Defect: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Dodge Dart vehicles. The shifter cable may detach from the transmission, preventing the vehicle from shifting into the park (P) position and causing a loss of park function.
Consequence: A loss of park function may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V293000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the shifter cable had been replaced four times. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the shifter cable failed to operate as needed, and the transmission failed to respond as needed. The vehicle could not be driven and became a rollaway hazard. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, and the shifter cable was replaced. The failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that the transmission shifter cable had previously been replaced three times. While starting the vehicle, the transmission failed to shift into gear. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who replaced the transmission shifter cable, but the failure persisted while attempting to shift the transmission into park (P). The transmission had seized in reverse(R). The headlights failed to turn off, and the doors failed to unlock as designed. The contact crawled from the driver’s seat to the rear seats to remove groceries from the vehicle. AAA arrived and disconnected the battery. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who replaced the transmission shifter cable for the second time, but the failure recurred while attempting to drive from the garage. The contact had assistance in manually shifting the transmission lever under the hood before driving to the dealer. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The dealer repaired the vehicle under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V293000 (Power Train); however, an unknown warning light illuminated while driving. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V674000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,436.

The dealership has confirmed the vehicle is unsafe to drive, but the repair has been delayed for several months. No reliable transportation assistance has been provided during this extended delay. This safety recall has left me without a usable vehicle for an unreasonable amount of time.
