VERY WEAK ACCELERATION AFTER AEM UPDATE
I RECENTLY HAD THE APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION PERFORMED ON MY 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL. SINCE THE MODIFICATION, THE TRUCK HAS A TERRIBLE LAG WHEN I TAKE OFF, SOMETIMES UP TO 5 SECONDS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON ACCELERATOR AND TRY TO GO. THIS LAG IS GOING TO GET ME HIT AND POSSIBLY KILLED. ONLINE FORUMS OF FELLOW RAM ECODIESEL OWNERS STATE THE SAME PROBLEM. RAM NEEDS TO GET THIS FIXED AND PUSH OUT AN UPDATE THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM OR I'M GOING TO GET INJURED OR KILLED IN THIS TRUCK. IT IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THIS RECALL MODIFICATION.
AFTER HAVING RECALL, V08 DONE ON MY 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL TRUCK. I HAVE AN EXTREME LAG WHEN TAKING OFF. IT IS SO BAD IT COULD BE DANGEROUS WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A COMPLETE STOP. IT IS A DEAD PEDAL WITH NO ACCELERATION WHEN YOU PUSH DOWN ON PEDAL. THIS OCCURS WHEN EVER I ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. I DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE BEFORE THE V08 UPDATE. I HAVE HEARD THIS IS A VERY WIDE PROBLEM AMONG RAM 1500'S THAT HAVE HAD V08 COMPLETED. IS THERE A FIX OR UPDATE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE?
AFTER THE V08 RECALL THE DRIVABILITY OF VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS. THE FUEL CONSUMPTION AND THE LAG OF THE ENGINE IS ALSO A HUGE CONCERN BUT IT HANDLES TOTALLY DIFFERENT. WHILE IT STILL SEEMS DECENTLY RELIABLE, FOR NOW, EVERYDAY UNSURENESS OF TRYING TO ANTICIPATE HOW THE VEHICLE WILL HANDLE DURING DRIVING IS THE PRIMARY FACTOR.
AFTER RECEIVING MY TRUCK BACK FROM A RAM DEALERSHIP WHO PREFORMED THE REQUIRED AEM EMISSIONS RECALL, IT HAS NOT RUN THE SAME. THE IS A NOTICEABLE MPG DROP BOTH IN THE CITY AND ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE IS ALSO A SIGNIFICANT DELAY IN THE RESPONSE OF THE TRUCK WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THIS IS NOTICEABLE WHEN LIGHTLY ACCELERATING WHILE IN TRAFFIC OR WHEN YOU HAVE TO AGGRESSIVELY ACCELERATE TO EITHER AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE OR WHEN GETTING UP TO SPEED OF MOVING TRAFFIC.
V08 RECALL. ACCELERATION FROM ANY SPEED, INCLUDING STANDING START IS DANGEROUSLY DELAYED, PULLING INTO AND ACROSS TRAFFIC IS UNPREDICTABLE. THERE IS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE UNTIL AROUND 70% THROTTLE, THEN ACCELERATION IS UNPREDICTABLE AND LATE. FUEL CONSUMPTION IS BEYOND PASSABLE FOR SUCH A POTENTIALLY EFFICIENT AND POWERFUL ENGINE. THE PURPOSE OF THE VEHICLE IS LIGHT TOWING. THE POWER TRAIN HAS BEEN TUNED TO THE POINT THAT IT'S USELESS, THE VGT FIGHTS AT ABOVE 70% CAPACITY TO MAINTAIN TORQUE AND POWER TO THE WHEELS. FUEL INJECTION TIMING RANGES FROM -17 TO +5 DEGREES, ONLY TO MAINTAIN EMISSIONS EFFICIENCY, THE NEW ECU PROGRAMMING COMPLETELY IGNORES EFFICIENT ENGINE MANAGEMENT- FOCUSING ON EMISSIONS CONTROL. SYSTEM AND ENGINE COMPONENTS ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR THE CRAZY EGT TEMPS THAT COME WITH THE LATE FUEL INJECTION. ENGINE FIRES- INTAKE MANIFOLD IN PARTICULAR- ARE BECOMING VERY COMMON. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING AN EMISSIONS UPDATE THAT WAS REQUIRED VIA A LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM. THE CONTACT HAD THE EMISSIONS UPDATED AT CORTESE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (2400 W HENRIETTA RD, #2324, ROCHESTER, NY 14623, (800) 952-7892) IN JUNE OF 2019. SINCE THEN, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S OVERALL PERFORMANCE DECREASED BY 25%. THE VEHICLE ALSO LOST POWER, LOST ACCELERATION, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL OPERATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE DEALER AND INFORM THEM OF THE FAILURES. THE SAME DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT INFORMED THEM THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THEN ACCELERATE SUDDENLY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS INTENDED AND CLOSED THE CASE. THE...
THE ENGINE BLEW UP UNDER WARRANTY BUT WAS VOIDED BY AFTERMARKET PARTS. THE PARTS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FAILURE.FCA KNOWS THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND FOUND THE EASY WAYOUT COSTING ME THOUSANDS...
I HAVE A 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL TRUCK. IT RECENTLY HAD THE UPGRADE TO THE EPA APPROVED ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION PROGRAM AS A RESULT OF THE LAWSUIT BETWEEN THE EPA AND FCA, LLC. THIS NEW PROGRAM HAS INDUCED A "DEAD ZONE" IN MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL THAT IS, IN MY OPINION, DANGEROUS. I HAVE HAD THIS NEW PROGRAM FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND TWICE HAVE EXPERIENCED NO ACCELERATION WHILE PROGRESSIVELY PRESSING THE PEDAL WHILE TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION. THIS IS SCARY AND UNACCEPTABLE. MY CLAIM REP AT FCA, LLC INDICATED THAT FCA, LLC IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT BASICALLY I AM STUCK WITH THE PROGRAM. THE TRUCK DID NOT DO THIS BEFORE THE RE-PROGRAMMING UPGRADE. AFTER THE AEM UPDATE RELATED TO THE ECO DIESEL EMISSIONS SETTLEMENT, THE TRUCK HAS A DANGEROUS THROTTLE LAG, ESPECIALLY AT COLD START. I HAVE PULLED OUT NUMEROUS TIMES ONLY TO HAVE ESSENTIALLY NO RESPONSE BEFORE A VEHICLE COMES ALONG AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I CAN PUT THE PEDAL ON THE FLOOR AND IT CAN TAKE SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE THE TRUCK FINALLY STARTS TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS WITH AN EMPTY TRUCK BUT IS EVEN MORE DANGEROUS WHEN TOWING. I AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH OF THIS IS THROTTLE RESPONSE, TRANSMISSION OR TURBO LAG BUT IT IS A SCARY FEELING TO NOT BE ABLE TO MERGE NORMALLY INTO TRAFFIC. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY TRIED A REFLASH OF THE COMPUTER TO ADJUST THE ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR. I THOUGHT IT WAS A LITTLE BETTER FOR A SHORT PERIOD BUT IT IS AS BAD AS EVER.
VEHICLE HAS LESS THEN 36000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS BACK AT THE DEALER TO REPAIR EXHAUST MANIFOLD BROKEN BOLT/WARPED EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM BUT WARRANTY REPAIRS WILL STOP UPON EXPIRATION OF WARRANTY. WHERE RAM ACCEPTS THE FACT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, SHOULD THEY NOT BE LIABLE? AS A RESULT OF THE EPA LAWSUIT AGAINST FCA, MY 2015 RAM ECODIESEL HAD THE APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION PERFORMED BY A DEALER ON MAY 10, 2019. ON MAY 11, 2019, WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (!) THE INTAKE MANIFOLD VALVING FAILED DUE TO A MAJOR PORTION OF MY EMISSIONS SYSTEM FAILING (EGR VALVE AND EGR COOLER) RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED TO THE DEALER ON MAY 12. REPLACEMENT OF THE EGR SYSTEM AND INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS REQUIRED. NUMEROUS PARTS DELAYS FOLLOWED. THEN, WHILE TRYING TO REPLACE A GLOW PLUG, THE GLOW PLUG THREADS WERE FOUND TO BE SEIZED IN THE CYLINDER HEAD, NECESSITATING REPLACEMENT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD (THIS IS ANOTHER COMMON PROBLEM WITH FCA ECODIESEL MOTORS AND COSTS THE CUSTOMER $3000 DOLLARS TO REPAIR.) MORE PART DELAYS. WHEN ALL PARTS FINALLY ARRIVED THE VEHICLE WOULD START BUT...
FCA RECALL, RESULTED IN A VERY DANGEROUS TURBO LAG WHICH WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE GIVES A 3-4 SECONDS DELAY WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS APPLIED. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED FROM THIS. THEY KNOWINGLY CAUSED THIS TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. THE VEHICLE MPG IS DROPPED BY 3-4MPG AS WELL. RECENTLY, RAM AND JEEP WERE INVOLVED IN "IN RE: CHRYSLER-DODGE-JEEP "ECODIESEL" MDL," WHICH RESOLVED LEGAL CLAIMS ASSERTING THAT THE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH FEDERAL AND STATE EMISSIONS REGULATIONS AND THAT FIAT CHRYSLER MADE MISREPRESENTATIONS TO CONSUMERS REGARDING THE VEHICLES. I PULLED THIS INFO FROM THE ECO DIESEL SETTLEMENT WEBSITE. IN RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE, CUSTOMERS WERE TO GET (3) THINGS; (1) V08 SOFTWARE UPDATE; (2) MONEY, DEPENDENT ON YOUR OWNERSHIP STATUS; AND (3) A 10 WARRANTY EXTENSION. I HAD THE V08 SOFTWARE UPDATE COMPLETED AT THE END OF MAY, 2019. SINCE THAT UPDATE, MY VEHICLE HAS HAD POOR PERFORMANCE WITH LACK OF POWER AND ACCELERATION. WITHIN A WEEK OF HAVING THE UPDATE DONE, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT ON AS WELL. WHEN TURNING ONTO A ROADWAY FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE IS SOMETIMES VERY SLOW TO ACCELERATE, RISK OF COLLISION DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO INCREASE TO SAFE SPEED. I WOULD SUMMARIZE THESE ISSUES AS TURBO LAG AND IMPROPER SHIFT MAPPING. EPA HAS REQUIRED AN AEM FLASH UPDATE FOR MY RAM ECODIESEL. THIS UPDATE HAS BECOME A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. DUE TO THE UPDATE, WHEN THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 160 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, THERE IS A 3-5 SECOND DELAY IN ACCELERATION. 0N 7/8/19, LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP FROM RECEIVING THE EPA REGULATED UPDATE, I HAD TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC. NOT KNOWING WHAT THE AEM UPDATE HAD DONE TO MY VEHICLE, I PULLED OUT OF THE LOT AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE. MY VEHICLE ROLLED INTO 3 OF THE 6 LANES OF TRAFFIC. I HAD THE PEDDLE AS FAR AS IT WOULD GO AND DURING THAT 3-5 SECONDS, MY VEHICLE WAS SLUGGISHLY GOING 4 MPH. ONCE THAT 3-5 SECONDS PASSED, THE VEHICLE THEN ACCELERATED RAPIDLY AS IT SHOULD WITH THE PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR. ONCE THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GET OVER 160 DEGREES, THE DELAY DROPS FROM 3-5 SECONDS DOWN TO 1-3...
FOLLOWING THE EPA MANDATED REPROGRAMMING, THE VEHICLE SUFFERS THROTTLE LAG TO A DEGREE THAT IT IS UNSAFE. FROM A STOP, ESPECIALLY WHILE WARMING UP, A LAG OF 3 TO 5 SECONDS IS EXPERIENCED. SOMETIMES WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC, THE TRUCK WILL BEGIN TO MOVE, ONLY TO HESITATE AFTER IT'S ALREADY TOO FAR INTO THE INTERSECTION TO ABORT THE ACTION. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED SINCE THE MANDATED REPROGRAMMING.
AFTER HAVING THE FCA APPROVED AEM RECALL ACCOMPLISHED, MY TRUCK COULD NO LONGER MAINTAIN SPEED UP HILL, WOULDN'T DOWNSHIFT PROPERLY, INCREASED DEF USAGE, DECREASED FUEL ECONOMY, EXTREMELY BAD TURBO LAG (3-5 SECONDS ON AVERAGE AND UP TO 10). TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS AN INTAKE MANIFOLD. THEY REPLACED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND 2 INJECTORS. APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, WHILE DRIVING ON I-15 NORTHBOUND, MY TRUCK ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND MY TRUCK BURNED TO THE GROUND.
RAM ECODIESEL AEM V08 FLASH: AFTER HAVING THIS FLASH PERFORMED ON MY 2015 RAM ECODIESEL AT A RAM DEALERSHIP AS PART OF THE SETTLEMENT WITH THE EPA, THERE IS A 3+ SECOND DELAY IN ACCELERATION FROM A STOP WHICH HAS CREATED A HAZARDOUS SITUATION WHEN AT INTERSECTIONS. ALSO, THERE IS A HESITATION WHEN TRYING TO MERGE IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC. THIS TURBO CHARGER LAG WAS NEVER AN ISSUE BEFORE THIS FLASH WAS PERFORMED ON MY TRUCK.

MM 31, THE TRUCK LOST POWER (LIMP IN MODE), THE CHECK ENGINE & SERVICE AUTOMATIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHTS CAME ON. NOTICED A SMALL AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK. COASTED OFF OF THE INTERSTATE AND CAME TO REST IN A USED CAR DEALERSHIP'S PARKING LOT. TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND OPENED THE HOOD WHERE I FOUND AN APPROXIMATELY 8' FLAME PROJECTING FROM UNDER THE PLASTIC MANIFOLD COVER. DOUSED THE FLAME WITH A BOTTLE OF DRINKING WATER AND TOOK THE PLASTIC COVER OFF WHERE I FOUND THE WIRING HARNESS SHEATHING ENGULFED IN FLAMES. EXTINGUISHED THAT WITH AN ABC DRY CHEMICAL EXTINGUISHER. CURRENTLY THE TRUCK IS AT WAYNESVILLE RAM WITH NO UPDATES AS OF YET. HAD THE EGR RECALL COMPLETED ON 6/19/19 AT WAYNESVILLE RAM AND...
AFTER RECEIVING THE UPDATED ENGINE PROGRAMMING RECALL ON MY ECODIESEL RAM, THE THROTTLE RESPONSE IS DANGEROUSLY SLOW WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP. THERE IS A SEVERAL SECOND DELAY FROM ME APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE THROTTLE PEDAL AND THE ENGINE REACTING AND ACCELERATING. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO JUDGE WHEN TURNING INTO TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF THIS DELAY. COULD EASILY CAUSE SOMEONE TO BE REAR-ENDED BECAUSE THE TRUCK DOES NOT ACCELERATE AS EXPECTED. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE PRIOR TO THE RECALL.
RAM FLASHED THE COMPUTER ON MY TRUCK TO COMPLY WITH THE DIESEL EMISSIONS LAWSUIT. WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE FLASH AND TRIED TO ENTER THE TRAFFIC LANE THE TRUCK BARELY RESPONDED TO THE THROTTLE. THERE WAS A HUGE DELAY AND IF NOT FOR A PULL OFF AREA I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. HOW THEY GOT THIS FLASH APPROVED MAKES ME WONDER WHAT IS GOING ON WITH PROVIDING SAFETY IN A VEHICLE. I CONSIDER WHAT THEY DID TO MY TRUCK CRIMINAL.
THE EMISSIONS RECALL V08 HAS MADE MY VEHICLE DANGEROUS TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC
TRUCK WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY WITH 43K MILES WHEN I BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN FOR EMISSIONS RECALL V08. THE NEW SOFTWARE HAS MADE MY TRUCK DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WHEN COLD, AND EVEN AFTER THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING FOR AN HOUR. UNTIL FULLY AT OPERATING TEMP THERE IS A DANGEROUS THROTTLE LAG AND LOSS OF POWER WHICH AFFECTS ME WHEN I PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND ALSO WHILE TOWING MY TRAVEL TRAILER. THE TRUCK DOES NOT ACCELERATE, TRAVELING AT 2-5MPH WITH THE THROTTLE FLOORED CAUSING REAR ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKES. WHILE TOWING I CANT ACCELERATE MAKING MERGING INTO TRAFFIC UNSAFE. RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY VERIFIED ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS AND DID NOTHING BECAUSE FCA SAID THAT'S HOW IT RUNS NOW...BLAME THE EPA.
AFTER UPDATE TO RESOLVE THE EMISSIONS RECALL ISSUE (ECODIESEL SETTLEMENT), MY TRUCK HAS DANGEROUSLY POOR RESPONSE TO ACCELERATION. IT IS A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE. AFTER THE INITIAL UPDATE, I HAD TO BRING THE TRUCK IN A SECOND TIME BECAUSE THE EMISSIONS UPDATES RUINED THE EMISSIONS SENSORS. LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC ON A STATE HIGHWAY WITH PLENTY OF ROOM (AT LEAST 200 FEET) AND AFTER HITTING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE STALLED FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS BEFORE FINALLY RESPONDING, NEARLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME TO RUN INTO THE REAR. IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED, PEOPLE ARE GOING GET KILLED ON THE HIGHWAY.
MY 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL RECENTLY RECEIVED THE V08 RECALL. TWO WEEKS AFTER THE RECALL THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON JULY 01. THE TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP UNTIL 07-19. I DROVE THE TRUCK HOME FROM THE SHOP AND DID NOT NOTICE EXTREME LAG AT THAT TIME. THE. AFTER RECIEVING FCA'S RECENTLY RELEASED RECALL FOR THE AEM EMISSIONS RECALL THE TRUCKS PERFORMANCE IS DANGEROUSLY ERRATIC. THERE ARE TIMES THE TRUCK WILL HARDLY MOVE FROM A STOP PULLING INTO CROSS TRAFFIC AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL ACCELERATE EXTREMELY HARD. THIS UNKNOWN MAKES IT DANGEROUS TO OPERATE IN A LOT OF CIRCUMSTANCES.

FCA REQUIRED V08 RECALL WAS COMPLETED AND THEIR AEM INSTALLED TO THE PCM/TCM. I PICKED MY TRUCK UP AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED IT WAS DOWN ON POWER. SINCE APPLYING THE ECODIESEL SETTLEMENT ECU FLASH, MY VEHICLE IS DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. ESPECIALLY WHEN NOT FULLY WARMED UP, SHIFTING AND TURBO LAG MAKES THE VEHICLE NEARLY UNDRIVEABLE IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. THE GAS PEDAL HAS A HUGE LAG AND NON-LINEAR BEHAVIOR (PRESS TO FLOOR, NOTHING, THEN EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE). SHIFTING, PASSING, FUEL ECONONY, AND DRIVEABILITY WERE HUGELY IMPACTED BY THEIR EMISSIONS UPDATE AND IT HAS MADE THIS EXPENSIVE TRUCK UNSAFE, BECAUSE IT IS UNPREDICTABLE BASED ON VEHICLE AND TRANSMISSION "WARMUP". WHEN COLD THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE.
I HAD RECALL V08 AND SOME OTHER RECALLS PERFORMED AT LOCAL RAM DEALER, THE EMISSIONS MODIFICATION HAS LEFT MY TRUCK VERY SLUGGISH (THROTTLE UNRESPONSIVE) WHEN ENGINE IS COLD. TWICE SINCE COMPUTER WAS FLASHED I HAVE PULLED OUT TO CROSS TRAFFIC AND TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AS IT DID PRIOR TO FLASH. I WAS TOLD THE FLASH WOULD NOT CHANGE PERFORMANCE AND MILEAGE BUT BOTH HAVE BEEN AFFECTED. I AM ALSO USING CONSIDERABLE MORE DEF FLUID. BIGGEST CONCERN IS THE LACK OF THROTTLE RESPONSE WHEN ENGINE IS COLD, I TEND TO FORGET AND PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND THEN IT GETS QUITE SCARY, I BELIEVE THIS COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENT. WHY MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT IN THE NHTSA DATA BASE REGARDING THE RAM 1500 PICK UP RECALL FOR 2014-2016 VEHICLES? INVOLVING MAJORITY OF THE DRIVE TRAIN, EXHAUST, EVC, AND AIR INTAKE.
I OWN A 2015 RAM 1500, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW IN AUGUST OF 2015. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE ECODIESEL ENGINE AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THIS SAME ENGINE WAS THE TOPIC OF A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FILED AGAINST FIAT/CHRYSLER. THE AGREEMENTS IN THE SETTLEMENT OF THAT SUIT REQUIRES RAM DEALERS TO UPDATE THE ENGINE SOFTWARE SO THAT IT WILL MEET THE ORIGINAL EMISSIONS SPECS. THE UPDATE IS ALSO NOT SUPPOSED TO EFFECT DRIVABILITY. MY TRUCK WAS UPDATED WITH THE V08 RECALL FOR THIS PURPOSE. SINCE THIS UPDATE, WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, THE TRUCK HAS A VERY LONG DELAY (4~7 SECONDS) BEFORE IT STARTS TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE ENGINE THEN ACCELERATES VERY SLOWLY. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. ONCE THE ENGINE COMES TO FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURE, IT COMES CLOSE TO ORIGINAL PERFORMANCE, BUT IT NEVER PERFORMS AS IT DID BEFORE THE RECALL...
FCA ISSUED A RECALL FOR ECODIESEL RAMS AFTER AN EMISSIONS LAWSUIT. THE AEM UPDATE WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO AFFECT VEHICLE PERFORMANCE OR MPG. IT DOES. NOW, AFTER GETTING THE UPDATE, THE TRUCK IS UNPREDICTABLE IN HOW IT DRIVES IN REGARDS TO ACCELERATION.
