The contact stated that while her daughter was driving 15 MPH, she heard a knocking sound coming from the vehicle. The check oil warning light was illuminated. The daughter restarted the vehicle and drove to school. The contact drove the vehicle to the local mechanic. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost of the repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.
Vehicle was purchased from a private seller in August 2023. We took the car to get an oil change in late August, although previous owner stated it was 1500 miles away from needing one. We learned there was no oil in vehicle while being serviced. Oil was replaced. Car was driven for 3 months, then on December 2nd, without any previous warning, the check engine light came on. Car began to lose power and could not drive more than 35 miles per hour. It was taken to the shop, and found there to be no oil in vehicle. Again, it was not time to get another oil change. Car was not leaking oil. Upon this discovery, learned of the engine recall; and actually have the recall notice & knock sensor update invoice from previous owner. The knock sensor was updated March 2021. Car was taken to Kia dealership. They advised...
Oil consumption and catalytic converter clogging. My car burns through 5 liters of oil about every 1,000 miles. I've already had the catalytic converter replaced and my mechanic said it's from excessive oil leaking, and the only alternative to fix it is to replace the engine.

(re: Hyundai and Kia Engine Litigation II, No. (XXX) NHTSA Recalls: 20V750; 19V120 Kia Soul began leaking oil as a result of rod bearing issues prior to 145,000 miles. Took to repair shop several times to refill oil because oil levels were rapidly depleting. This led to Engine failure, leaving my vehicle inoperable. Kia refuses to replace the engine. Class action settlement provides warranty extension to 15yrs/150,000 miles for effected vehicles. Settlement states, "You are not required to complete the KSDS update to obtain the Extended Warranty if your vehicle was previously recalled under NHTSA Recall Numbers 20V750." My vehicle was recalled under 20V750 and should qualify under settlement for warranty extension. Representative with Kia Customer Care stated on 12/20/23 that my vehicle does not qualify for warranty extension because the KSDS update was not completed. This violates the settlement agreement as my vehicle was recalled under NHTSA 20V750. Further,...
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the check engine and check oil warning lights were illuminated. The contact self-diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the coil and the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure returned, and the vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter had failed and needed to be replaced. My car only has 77398 miles and the entire car lost power while I was driving I had to safely coast into a parking space. The engine is making a knocking sound and the battery light and oil light came on. The car has had every oil change on time and documented since it left the dealership in 2014 with 150 miles. Every service has been performed on time as my mother who is a retired veteran of the airforce is the only owner. She gave me the car less than 3 weeks ago. I called my mechanic immediately after I brought the vehicle to a stop and he said this model is known for that and it means the engine is about to blow up. He advised me not to attempt to drive the car and now I am stranded 8 miles from where I live. I have read...
on 11/11/2023: Engine failed/malfunctioned. Engine stalled while driving on the interstate. Traveling 75mph. I felt some sort of slight jolt, looked down at the dash and seen my check engine light blinking. There was not an exit nearby so I proceeded to pull over. As I pull over all lights had become illuminated but check engine light was not blinking anymore and I had first seen my headlights dim twice, next the radio went out, then headlights then my hazard lights and eventually everything turned off. This happened approximately around 10:00 pm and I had made it approximately 20 miles out of town. I felt it was too dangerous to step out of the vehicle. I called for a tow truck to bring my vehicle to the nearest kia and found a ride home myself. My safety was put at risk by being stalled on the side of the interstate...
2014 Kia Soul started having engine trouble in July this year (7/8/2023). It was consuming too much oil and we had to get frequent oil changes and refill oil between service visits because the oil was getting low after short periods of time. Engine ended up completely failing making the car inoperable in late August. Later found out this vehicle is part of a recall/settlement due to a faulty engine. Kia did not send us any recall notices or notify us of any potential problems regarding engine failure. Called Kia Customer Care on 11/22/23 about engine failure and to schedule engine replacement. A representative from Customer Care stated that our vehicle did not qualify for an engine replacement in accordance with settlement (re: Hyundai and Kia Engine Litigation II, No. 8:18-cv-02223-JLS-JDE) because a KSDS sensor recall (20V750000) was not completed on our vehicle. For the 2014 Kia Soul, there have...

The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
My check engine light was going on and off and I was told that I need to replace my catalytic converter. I went on line to see if my car had a recall it did show other 2014 souls but mine was not part of the recall #19v101. I'm wondering why mine wasn't part of it. I also had my engine replaced by Kia and after researching this I read that a faulty engine could have caused the converter to go. I'm trying to find out why my car wasn't part of the recall and if possible can it be added to the recall Please check into this for me and let me know

The contact then stated that his neighbors were awakened by another neighbor alerting them of the fire. The contact’s neighbor was able to exit the home and notified the fire department that extinguished the fire. No injuries were sustained. No medical attention was required. A police and fire report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The vehicle was inspected by an investigator who determined that the fire was started in the engine compartment. Additionally, the contact stated that prior to the failure, on three separate occasions, while his neighbors were driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. No warning lights were illuminated. The...
As I was driving on the highway, driving uphill, the car began to rattle under the hood as I attempted to increase speed. When I came to a full stop, the car completely shut down. I popped the hood, and the coolant cap was blown off and coolant was leaking everywhere. I was stranded on the highway until fire and rescue helped pull the car off the main road onto a side road. Called the Tow truck who took my car to a place in Ardmore, OK. Called Bobby’s Radiator and auto repair. Upon inspection, the mechanic stated that “the motor is locked up.”
The contact called on behalf of his daughter-in-law who owns a 2014 Kia Soul. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing abnormal oil consumption. The contact stated that the vehicle owner had been adding a quart of oil to the vehicle every week. The contact's mechanic informed the contact that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where a diagnostic test produced DTC Code: P0420; and the dealer determined that the catalytic converter and the engine had failed. The dealer informed the contact that the engine could not replace under the recall because additional diagnostic test which related the engine failure to low engine compression. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that the catalytic converter could be replaced under recall; however, the replacement would be pointless because the engine had failed. The vehicle was not...
The car was having an oil consumption issue so I took it to the dealer where they said it wasn’t considered excessive to them and said to get the PCV valve replaced which I had them do. Then the car went into “limp home” mode while on the highway and began displaying a check engine light intermittently with a PO420 code. Took it to the dealer and they said it needs a new catalytic converter. It had just had the catalytic converters recall performed and when I talked to the service manager about that he agreed and said it was a latent defect in the car and that Kia would goodwill repair the catalytic converter. Kia denied doing that and continued to deny it even after I appealed several times. The car still has an oil consumption problem, still intermittently displays the PO420 error and has a check engine light...
In 2021, my Kia Soul engine locked up entirely to the point of needing a total engine replacement. I received mail indicating that engine failure is part of a class action settlement from Kia. Due to the pandemic, I hadn't been able to find an engine or afford the replacement costs.
Car knocks bad. Air has never worked well. Car had been stolen before. Insurance did not do anything. My insurance has gone up because of the security system scandal.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the catalytic converter on two separate occasions. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that an unknown sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. Additionally, the mechanic informed the contact that the catalytic converter was clogged, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.
I drove my car a short distance, parked, and turned off the engine. about 5 minutes after I left my car in the parking lot, we heard a loud explosion and everyone in the office stepped outside. My car became a ball of orange fire and burned for some time. It took 3 fire trucks to contain the fire and several other vehicles were damaged from the explosion. Pictures taken after the incident show the engine was gone (melted maybe). The inside of the car was also burned beyond recognition. My potential death was approximately 5 minutes after I parked my car. The gas tank did not explode; rather, the car burned from the front to the rear. This vehicle should not be on the road and the problem should be made public immediately.

Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine,...
I have had issues with car stalling and not working. As a result, I've had to purchase another car. I found out via research that my car may have qualified for a recall or new catalytic converter which the dealership failed to replace years ago. Now I have a cat that needs a new catalytic converter and the catalytic converter was previously faulty. I'm literally paying for two vehicles while my Kia 2014 sits because I financially can't finance repairs and carpayment

Excessive oil consumption, oil turning dark and burned right after oil change, engine knocking, engine stalling, check engine light did not turned on, no alerts of engine failure. Car started to stall on the freeway hazard to me and other drivers if car shuts down. This car is at risk of engine to blow and might cause a fire. Car was taken to a mechanic and said engine should be replaced completely, car was serviced at dealership and no problems were reported before engine started to knock. Dealership or police haven’t checked the vehicle. No warning lamps appeared even after engine knocking.
I was driving the speed limit of 60 mph and all of a sudden it sputtered and hesitated; stalling out while attempting to accelerate going lower speed. My vehicle luckily got a parking spot at an automotive repair shop. No warning signal illuminated during my driving incident. The next morning the engine wouldn't start, but eventually they get it to start. They got the "Check Engine Message Center Warning" showing during Road Test. The automotive repair shop did a diagnostic test on it saying that the technician diagnosed the problems to a bad fuel injector fouling out the spark plug #4 cylinder recommending to replace all 4 fuel injectors and spark plugs, my transmission has no dipstick, OE Factory Maintenance due and is required, tires were getting weather cracked and recommending tires soon, technician noted that the car had some oil leaks and needed to be diagnosed further, cabin air...

While my wife was returning home from dinner one evening approximately 6PM in the evening, she was traveling about 35MPH when all of a sudden she heard a soft "POP" sound and the engine died. She had to coast to the side of the road to get out of traffic. There was no warning, no lights on the dash, nothing. Just a soft pop sound & that was it. The engine would not start so we had it towed to our mechanic. Before we did anything else, we called KIA. Apparently as the car was just over 100,000 miles they were not interested in all in what we had to say, but we could tow the vehicle to them to pay diagnostics to see what the problem was. We were told this by 3 dealerships. We had an independent mechanic look into this for us & found out that the...
The recall on the catalytic converter literally happened to my car that caused piston and oil tank damage resulting in a new engine, but Kia will not replace the catalytic converter, even though they just told me that it is damaged and caused the damage of the engine. Instead they want 3 grand for a recall that falls under my car year, and won't acknowledge the recall because it was issued in 2019 and not open to me at the time because I was not the owner. This exact reason for recall is literally what happened to my car.
This vehicle has a serious oil consumption issue. It was first noticed about three years ago and has been getting progressively worse. As of June 2023 it consumes a full oil tank in about 2500 miles. Oil warning indicators flash very briefly on occasion but the light does not come on until the oil is below the dipstick. I have had it looked at by my local mechanic and by the Kia dealer who sold the car. The Kia dealer did a test and said it did not meet their standards for a recall. There have been a number of times that the oil has gotten so low without indicator warning that the engine will start running rough. on 11/04/22 the engine began bucking and stopped running at high speed. It was brought to the dealer who stated "Active DTC P0300 and P0303. Swapped Cylinder 3 coil pack and cylinder...

The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was determined that the vehicle needed to be taken back to Valvoline where the oil change was performed. The vehicle was taken back to Valvoline where the...

I brought my vehicle into an authorized dealer when my check engine light came on, having just been made aware of the recall notice when I took it in for an oil change earlier that day. He said the recall came about when cars of my make/model/year started catching fire out of nowhere due to engine issues. Given that my car is still under the mileage warranty, at 95k miles, the person at the dealership service center said it would likely be covered & the recall would qualify me for a new engine altogether. I got a call back a few days later that my catalytic converter was plugged, and that I would owe just under $3000 for the repair, as my vehicle did not show the correct diagnostic code to be covered. Once I spoke with KIA's corporate consumer satisfaction line, they agreed to bring the car out &...

Catalytic Converter malfunction and it was check by my mechanic at Hillebrand Automotive. It causes my 2014 Kia Soul to stop running in the middle of the highway. There were no warning lights, massages or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. This happened 3 months ago. On January 21, 2023. It's still down because i can't afford to have it fix.

Since I bought this car, I have experienced hesitation, stalling, high RPM idle, fluctuating idle, burning smell, lurching, running though gas very fast (not due to increased driving), engine noises, dash panel half lighting up, hard to accelerate when the headlights are on, or heat, or air con, odd noises..and through this entire time, check engine light comes on and off and on and off...along with my gas gauge saying empty when its full. I have reported ALL of this throughout the entire time since all bought it. Every single time they say "software update" and send me home with nothing ever fixed. EVER. Now again check engine and false fuel reading, hesitations, etc....again! This engine and fuel pump is bad and explains all of my complaints since 10kmiles. My car has under 80k mi on it, its been a lemon from the start. Hesitation with no pick-up at an...
I own a 2014 Kia soul with 78000 miles. Engine light came on just changed my oil it was almost dry. I’m going through 2 quarts every two weeks due to KIAS power train warranty of 100000 miles I was sold on as a second owner. The dealer will not cover to replace the engine since the second owner warranty is inky warranted at 60k. Millions of people owning Kia’s are now trashing their cars because of this horrible situation! It’s in the courts I’m sure you know. This is criminal my safety and those behind me are at dramatic risk if my car fails on the highway which they are! I want this investigated for my safety. Several calls to Kia corporate no answer!
check engine light came on the evening of 3/08/2023. Auto zone said it was a knock sensor code and was listed as a recall. Next morning while driving on highway to ft Wayne Kia dealership my car engine lost rpm while driving at 65 mph on i-69 chapel exit in ft Wayne indiana. The car engine compartment almost immediately ignited into flames with an explosion. Driver barely got out before fire was in the dash. The front interior dash and front seat areas were caught on fire. Shrapnel blown from car started a grass fire as well. The fire department arrived to get both fires under control. My car was still under warranty at 108 months and 89,000 miles. Never had any problem with my Soul until that next day after light came on. I was not notified of the recalls except only recently received an airbag recall on 3/30/2023....

The contact was able to continue driving at a slower speed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to the engine knocks sensor. I own a Kia Soul. The catylitic converters went out. The car won't accelerate and the car got extremely hot. When I looked up Kia Soul recalls it showed that there was a recall on the converters also that some Kia Souls had gotten hot an caught on fire. I called Parkway Family Kia. They told me that it wasn't an active recall and that they couldn't do anything. I then called Demontrond Kia and got the same answer. I talked with the service manager Brian. What can I do to resolve this?
When approaching 60-65 mph vehicle begins to shake and make loud muffler sounds. No warning signal illuminated at all. I took the vehicle to Woodbridge Kia service center and they advised that I need to replace the catalytic converter. I paid for a replacement catalytic converter, gas pump and gasket cover in 2021 and now two years later the same issue. Kia will not honor the fact that this vehicle needs to be apart of the NHTSA recall number 20V750. I'm getting the run around from Kia Corporate and the Eastern District manager, they need to be held responsible for failed products. These issues are significant because these failed parts are leading to engine fires. The service person advised me to call Kia Corporate and request a Goodwill Repair to date they have not responded.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Soul. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
