TAKATA RECALL THE MOTOR KEEPS DYING WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC THAT TOLD ME THAT THE MOTOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE MOTOR HAS TO BE REPLACED. THE ENGINE ONLY HAS LESS THAN 85000 MILES. THE MECHANIC TOLD US TO BUY A JASPER MOTOR BECAUSE JASPER MADE CHANGES TO THE MOTOR BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL MOTOR WAS DEFECTIVE. MOPAR NO LONGER MAKES THE MOTOR AND REFERRED US TO AN AER MOTOR. THE PARTS DEPARTMENT AT CHRYSLER SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT SURE OR NOT IF THE ORIGINAL MOPAR MOTOR HAS MADE THE SAME CHANGES TO THE MOTOR THAT JASPER HAS MADE. JASPER STATES THAT CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE MOTOR AND SPECIFICALLY STATES THAT IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO SOLVE THE DEFECTIVE ISSUES OF AN ORIGINAL 2006 MOTOR. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE IT HAS HAPPENED TO. MOTORS WERE BEING REPLACED AT 75,000 MILES ARE A COMMON...
I WENT TO START MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER AND IT WOULD TURN OVER, BUT IT WOULD NOT START. I FINALLY WORKED WITH IT A LITTLE BIT AND GOT IT TO START, BUT THEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I CUT IT OFF AND TRIED IT AGAIN AND EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. HOWEVER, WHEN I GOT GOING, THERE WAS A HORRIBLE GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THIS STARTING ISSUE HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND EVERY TIME THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT A PUBLIC PLACE AFTER IT HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES.
ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS GO OFF AND ON I.E. A/C, LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD AND RADIO THEN CAUSES THE BREAKS TO STOP WORKING, WHILE DRIVING! THE CAR KEEPS STALLING OUT ESPECIALLY WHILE DRIVING AND IN PARK!!!
I RECEIVED RECALLS P73 AND P41 CALLED SORG DODGE IN GOSHEN AND DOWNEY CHRYSLER JEEP IN NAPPANEE IN SEPT OF 2015 NEEDLESS TO SAY NO ONE WILL DO THE RECALL WORK. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT THE RUN AROUND SINCE THESE CAME OUT. WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO??

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS DESTROYED DUE TO THE VALVE BEING VACUUMED INTO PISTON #4 AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,400. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED TO PARK AND RESTARTED NORMALLY BUT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED ALSO THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE YEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER AN IGNITION SWITCH MANUFACTURERS RECALL TWO YEARS AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED THIS TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLES ENGINE JUST STOPS. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2010 AND WITHIN A MONTH SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUES WERE INTERMITTENTLY OCCURRING. THE DEALER SAID THE IGNITION HAD TO BE REPLACED AND DID SO. THESE PROBLEMS SEEMED TO CONTINUE THOUGHT NOT OFTEN. THE SYMPTOMS ARE AS FOLLOWS-FIRST THE LIGHTS START FLICKERING AND THEN GO OUT. ALL OF THE DASH COMPONENTS GO OUT INCLUDING THE SPEEDOMETER, FUEL GAGE, RADIO ETC. THE AC FAN ALSO TURNED OFF. THIS CONDITION DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE FROM RUNNING IT JUST TURNED OFF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS THERE WAS HOWEVER A PROBLEM WITH STALLING, A SEPARATE ISSUE FROM THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE., A FEW TIMES WHILE IN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED IT WOULD STALL WHEN STOPPING OR STARTING OFF AGAIN. THIS WAS TRUE IN REVERSE AND FORWARD. I WAS NEVER REALLY WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY UNTIL LAST NIGHT WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON A DARK CURVY COUNTRY ROAD. IT WAS ONLY...
WHEN DRIVING MY JEEP COMMANDER IT STALLS. IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM STOPPED AND TRY TO GO OR WHEN I SLOW DOWN THEN TRY AND ACCELERATE. MY LIFE HAS BEEN AT RISK WHEN THIS HAPPENS. ONE OF THE TIMES I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65MPH AND IT STALLED. I AM EXTREMELY UPSET ABOUT THIS ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD SON THAT IS IN THE CAR WITH ME.
SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED DEALER CAN,T FIND ANY OTHER PROBLEM I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY 3 TIMES AND A COUPLE TIMES ON A LOCAL STREET
STALLING PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR NOW, I WAS TOLD BY JEEP TO GET P41 RECALL REPAIRED AND POSSIBLY FIX THE PROBLEM. I'VE HAD P41 DONE AND THE SAME PROBLEM KEEPS HAPPENING. EVERYTHING JUST COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND I AM UNABLE TO STEER AND HAVE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME NUMEROUS OF TIMES INCLUDING DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I'VE CONTACTED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WAS TOLD I WAS THE ONLY ONE THEY KNOW OF REGARDING THIS ISSUE WHICH IS NOT TRUE. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL LIGHT UP ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. ALL LIGHT INDICATORS WILL STAY ON FOR PERIOD OF TIME UNTIL CAR IS RESTARTED AGAIN.

THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V203000 (POWER TRAIN) FOR THE YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, AND FAILURE WERE SIMILAR BECAUSE THE INVESTIGATION INVOLVED THE 4.7L V-8 ENGINE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A 5.7L V-8 ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER OPENED A CASE ON THE CONTACT'S BEHALF REGARDING THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

TURNED VEHICLE OFF AT STORE, CAME OUT TO START IT AND WHILE I WAS IN THE STORE A VALVE SEAT FELL OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD INTO THE CYLINDER. ENGINE NOW NEEDS AN ENTIRE REBUILD COSTING HALF OF THE BOOK VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. UPON RESEARCH ONLINE, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE ENGINES SPECIFIC TO 2006-2007. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IT WAS DUE TO A KNOWN ISSUE FROM A VENDER THAT SUPPLIED THE CYLINDER HEADS.

THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO THE RECALL FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH ON MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. MY VEHICLE HAS HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT THE REPLACEMENT DOES NOT CURE THE PROBLEMS THAT IT WAS MEANT TO FIX. THE WORK WAS COMPLETED AT 9:30AM AND THE NEXT TIME I DROVE THAT DAY,IT DID THE SAME EXACT SHUTDOWN AS IT DID BEFORE (WITH ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASH FLASHING).THE STALLING AND SHUTDOWN DOES NOT OCCUR BECAUSE OF HITTING THE KEY WITH YOUR LEG AS I AM ONLY 5'4" AND MY LEG DOESN'T TOUCH THE IGNITION. I ALMOST RAN INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE HEADING HOPE AND WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED AT ANOTHER INTERSECTION DUE TO STALLING AND NO CONTROL. THIS IS AN OLD RECALL, HOWEVER CHRYSLER IS REPAIRING OR BUYING BACK NEWER MODELS OF VEHICLES DUE TO FAULTY DESIGN. 2006 JEEP COMMANDER RECALL IS JUST AS SERIOUS AS NEWER RECALLS. THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH RESULTS IN ENTIRE SHUT DOWN OF JEEP, INCLUDING AIR BAGS. I WAS TOLD TO ADJUST SEAT SO THAT KNEE DOES NOT MAKE CONTACT WITH KEYS IN IGNITION. WHAT? I SUGGEST THAT VEHICLES WITH FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH BE A PART OF THE CHRYSLER BUY BACK OR REPAIR IMMEDIATELY. VEHICLE LOSES IGNITION POWER WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. DASH CLUSTER WARNING LIGHTS FLASH MULTIPLE TIMES. SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, FUEL, TEMP GAUGES FALL TO ZERO POINT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. ONE OF THE SCARIEST THINGS I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS MINIMAL AT THE TIME, BUT IN TRAFFIC, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE DISASTER.

PRIOR TO 06-06-14 @115,616 MILES BEGAN NOTICING ISSUES WITH VEHICLE NOT STARTING. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS VEHICLE WOULD START. LUBE, OIL AND FILTER. 23 POINT INSPECTION PREFORMED FOR THE 120,000 MILES SERVICE: REPLACED THE AIR FILTER AND PCV VALVE, FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM, REPLACED REAR WIPER BLADES, REMOVED THROTTLE BODY AND CLEANED, INDUCTION SERVICE, REPLACED THE FRT CRANK SEAL, CLEANED AND REPLACED THE SERPT BELT.
