TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY WHILE PARKED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V175000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS IN THE LAST 2-3 MONTHS THE CAR HAS STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 60 MILES AN HOUR. EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE LIGHTS ETC... SHUTDOWN WHEN IT STALLS. AFTER PULLING OVER THE VEHICLE WILL RESTART FAIRLY QUICKLY. *TR

I BOUGHT MY JEEP COMMANDER ON THE 14TH OF AUGUST AND ON THE 23 AND 24 AND 28 OF AUGUST IT RAINED AND NOW MY FLOOR IS WET I HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT ON THE 25 AND THEY SAID MY SUN ROOF DRAIN TUBE WERE COMPLETELY BLOCK AND THE CLEANED THEM OUT AND YET I WAKE UP TODAY AFTER IT HAD RAINED OVER NIGHT AND MY DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR WAS WET AGAIN. IM TAKING IT IN AGAIN TO MAKE SURE ITS NOT MY WINDOW AND I CALLED THE DEALER THAT SOLD IT TO ME AND HE SAID TO LET HIM KNOW HOW THAT TURNED OUT OR HE WOULD GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS PROBLEM FOR US. OUR JEEP DOESN'T STAY IN GEAR, TO BACK UP OUT OF DRIVEWAY MUST GO FROM REVERSE TO NEUTRAL SEVERAL TIMES TO ENGAGE. ALSO WILL SLIP FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY, MANY, TIMES THAT OUR JEEP DOESN'T KNOW IT IS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL AND WILL NOT START UNTIL YOU MESS FOR ALONG TIME WITH SHIFTER. FOR NO REASON THE JEEP WOULD JUST DIE, ON THE INTRASTATE, IN TOWN, ANYWHERE, JUST SHUT OFF, THEN AFTER A HOUR OR SO IT WOULD START AGAIN. AFTER BEING IN THE SHOP MANY WEEKS FOR THIS, THE TWO COMPUTERS WERE FOUND TO BE THE PROBLEM. CHANGED THE COMPUTERS, AT THE FEE OF ALMOST $ 2000 AND NO MORE PROBLEMS, WHICH THE MONEY IS NOTHING KNOWING MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WONT STALL ON THE INTRASTATE AND BE KILLED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE ENGINE FAILED TO OPERATE. IN ADDITION, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND POWER WINDOWS WOULD ONLY FUNCTION SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS, WHO DETECTED THAT THE FAILURE WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED AND THE HEADLIGHTS DIMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE RESULTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,200.
THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE 2010. IT FIRST HAPPENED TO MY WIFE AS SHE DROVE ON I-75 THE CAR JUST TURNED OFF ON HER AND ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY A CAR THAT WAS BEHIND HER. IT HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 7 TIMES SINCE AND RECENTLY MUCH MORE THAN BEFORE WHERE THE SAME THING HAPPENS THE CAR TURNS OFF AND YOU LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL OF EVERYTHING,BRAKES ,STEERING ETC THE CAR JUST FLOATS FOR ABOUT TWO BLOCKS AND YOU ARE HELPLESS UNTIL IT STOPS. MY WIFE CONTACTED CHRYSLER THIS LAST TIME TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT OUR CAR WAS UNDER INVESTIGATION ,THAT RECALLS WERE BEING DONE IN SEPTEMBER BUT THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND THEN GET REIMBURSED .I PERSONALLY DON'T THINK THE CONSUMER SHOULD PAY FOR ANYTHING MUCH LESS SOMETHING THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DISCOVERED TO BE A MANUFACTURING FLAW. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD AND LOST POWER, CAR STALLED. THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES WITH YESTERDAY BEING THE 3RD EVENT AND I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 55 MPH WITH THE LAST INCIDENT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS FLICKERED AND THERE WAS AN INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL SHORT WITH THE LIGHTING ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE HEADLIGHTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT TIMES IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CHANGE GEARS FROM THE GEAR BOX. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DIALOG IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V434000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND 13V175000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
BRAKING TO APPROACH A RED LIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION THE BRAKES FELT MUSHY FOLLOWED BY COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. I WAS STOPPED IN THE INSIDE LANE OF A 4-LANE HWY AT AN INTERSECTION WITHOUT POWER!. AFTER A MOMENT OF PANIC....THANK HEAVENS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME....I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. I TRAVELED TWO BLOCKS TO WHERE I COULD SAFELY EXIT THE HWY AND PARK. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 2/15/14 THREE WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE GAUGES JUST CAME ON AND KEPT FLASHING IT CONTINUED FOR THE DURATION OF MY DRIVE. ONCE I GOT TO WORK AND PUT IT IN PARK AND TURN IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT NOTHING HAPPENED. SO 8.5 TO 9 HRS LATER BACK ON THE HIGHWAY IT DOES IT AGAIN THIS TIME JUST FLASHED 3 TIMES. SO I TOOK IT BACK HOME THE FIRST WEEK NOTHING HAPPENED. SECOND WEEK NOTHING THAT THIRD WEEK IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS TIME WHILE ON HIGHWAY ON THE WAY TO WORK MY SPEED DROPPED FROM 60 TO 5 IN LESS THAN A SECOND. I PULLED OVER AND SAT FOR...
IGNITION SWITCH DEFECTIVE. IT MOVED FROM RUN TO ACC WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO A ONRAMP GOING ABOUT 30 MPH. IT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE JUST LIKE THE DEFECTIVE GM SWITCH DID. IT WAS ATTACHED TO OTHER KEYS AND MAY HAVE BEEN BUMPED BY KNEE DURING TURN. *TR

ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT IS CAUSING ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS TO FLICKER ON AND OFF, HEAT/AIR GOES ON AND OFF, AUDIO CENTER GOES ON AND OFF ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS GO NO AND OFF. DEALERSHIP BLAMED MY REMOTE STARTER(WHICH THEY. *TR INSTALLED) BUT TURNED OUT IT WASN'T AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS. SAY THEY CAN'T DETERMINE WHAT IT IS UNLESS IT IS HAPPENING WHEN I BRING IT IN. THE INTERIOR DOOR OPENING CASING CRUMBLES. ALREADY HAD DRIVERS DOOR FIXED BECAUSE I COULDN'T OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE AND WAS TOLD ALL DOORS WOULD EVENTUALLY HAVE TO BE DONE. DOORS FREEZE DUE TO POOR DRAINAGE. WATER COLLECTS INSIDE DOOR FRAME AND RUNNING BOARD, FREEZING ALL DOORS. IF NOT FOR THE REMOTE STARTER, WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET IN THE CAR AT ALL. *TR
WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE FIRST NOTICED THE ELECTRIC MIRRORS TURNED UPWARD AND UNABLE TO CORRECT. THEN THE LEFT WINDOW WENT DOWN AND MOVES UP OR DOWN AT RANDOM. THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS BECAME INOPERATIVE FROM DRIVER SIDE. THE WARNING GAUGES STARTED TO GO OFF AND ON AND DISPLAY STARTED TO FLASH DIFFERENT PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING THE NEXT DAY THE CRUISE CONTROL WENT OFF AND EVERYTHING STARTED FLASHING THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE PUT THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP. I HAVE A VIDEO THAT I TOOK WHILE DRIVING. *TR
AS I WAS CONING TO A STOP MY CAR DIED THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES ALL WHILE COMING TO A STOP. I COULD HEAR A CLICKING NOISE AND THEN THE ENGINE WOULD JUST TURN OFF. THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT IS CAUSING VARIOUS COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE TO MALFUNCTION. EXAMPLES OF THESE EPISODES ARE THE FOLLOWING: THE A/C CUTTING IN AND OUT, THE DASHBOARD FLICKERING ON AND OFF, THE SPEEDOMETER FLICKERING RADICALLY UP AND DOWN, THE AUDIO CENTER TURNING ON AND OFF, HEADLIGHTS TO FLICKER, THE TURNING SIGNALS TO NOT CORRECTLY OPERATE.? I RECENTLY REPLACED THE AUDIO UNIT BECAUSE THE MALFUNCTION CAUSED THE UNIT TO BLOW. ALL THE LIGHT ON MY DASH BOARD HAVE BEEN FLICKERING ON AND OFF FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO AFFECT MY ENGINE HOWEVER IT WILL COMPLETELY TAKE ALL GAUGES TO ZERO WHILE I AM DRIVING. THERE IS A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE SUV WHICH STARTED WITHIN . THE DEALERS LOOKED AT IT, I PAID FOR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS AND STILL NOTHING. BESIDES ALL THE LIGHTS FLASHING ON AND OFF, THE SPEEDOMETER FLUCTUATING, ACTUALLY ALL THE INSTRUMENTS GOING ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING; ALSO, THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL PANEL DOES NOT LIGHT UP WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN AUTOMOBILE WITH ALL THESE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT NO ONE CAN FIX. PLEASE RECALL THIS VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. I TRY NOT TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES ALONE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. NORMAL START UP AND DRIVING. ALL DASH LIGHTS, HEAD LIGHTS, WARNING LIGHTS BEGAN BLINKING ON AND OFF VERY QUICKLY FOR A FEW MINUTES UNTIL JIGGLING THE IGNITION KEY A FEW TIMES GOT ALL LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND WARNING LIGHTS TO STAY OFF. CAR CONTINUED TO RUN AT THE 35 MILES PER HOUR. GAUGES WERE GOING FROM 0 TO NORMAL READINGS DURING THIS SAME TIME PERIOD. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THIS FIRST INCIDENT. DID NOT NOTICE QUICKLY ENOUGH IF THE AIR BAG LIGHTS WERE GOING ON AND OFF ALSO BUT SUSPECT THAT THEY WERE. ALL WERE IN AND OUT OF ALARM. *TR
I HIT THE KEY WITH MY KNEE AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. I WAS ON ROUTE 50 IN MARYLAND. LUCKILY I WAS GOING FAST ENOUGH, APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, TO PULL THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY TO A SAFE SPOT. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO SEE THAT THE KEY, IN THE IGNITION HAD BEEN PUSHED TO THE OFF POSITION. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WITHOUT ISSUE. I JUST LEARNED OF THE CONCERN AND I THOUGH IT IMPORTANT TO REPORT THIS. *TR
I OPENED MY CAR DRIVER'S DOOR ONE MORNING TO FIND TWO INCHES OF RAINWATER ON THE FLOOR NEAR THE PEDALS. UNABLE TO FIND THE SOURCE, I PUT MY JEEP COMMANDER IN THE SHOP. I WAS CHARGED FOR THEM FIXING THE LEAK THAT NEVER GOT FIXED. I HAVE HAD EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT NUMEROUS TIMES & NO ONE CAN TELL ME HOW WATER GETS IN. HOWEVER INCONVENIENT, I AM PARKING MY CAR IN PARKING GARAGES EVERY TIME IT RAINS NOW, GIVEN THERE SEEMS TO BE NO OTHER SOLUTION. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK YESTERDAY, WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY LOCKED AND TRUCK STARTED DYING, AND I ALMOST HIT A GUARD RAIL . TURNED THE ENGINE COMPLETELY OFF AND TRIED TO TURN THE ENGINE BACK ON, BUT MY TRUCK WOULD NOT START. HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER THAT DAY 04/25/2014. RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER ON TODAY'S DATE 04/26/2014; TRUCK NEEDS A NEW TIPM MODULE. A NEW TIPM MODULE WAS JUST PUT IN MY TRUCK AT THE SAME DEALER A FEW DAYS SHORT OF A YEAR AGO (04/27/2013). PROBLEM IS SO COMMON WITH CHRYSLER THAT THE MODULE IS ON BACK ORDER (NATIONALLY). THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND IT IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS! OCTOBER, 2013 RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. (AS I HAVE 6 CHILDREN, THIS WAS A PRIORITY TO HAVE FIXED) I BROUGHT MY JEEP INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE N23 SAFETY RECALL PERFORMED. COME JANUARY, 2014 I ATTEMPT TO ACTIVATE MY 4 WHEEL LOW AND I GET A SERVICE LIGHT STATING "SERVICE 4WD". I CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP WHO HAD PERFORMED THE RECALL AND BRING IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT. THEY RUN A DIAGNOSIS AND DETERMINE THE TRUCK HAS AN INTERNAL SHORT IN THE TRANSFER CASE. THE SERVICE TECH ADVISED ME IT IS RELATED TO THE RECALL BUT HE CAN NOT DO ANYTHING AT THE DEALER LEVEL.
