Blown head gasket with low mileage. No warning or symptoms before issue occurred. Car cut off on highway.
#11634013 |
At approx 10pm, vehicle was moving at a steady speed of 70mph on urban highway on New Year's Eve. Without any indication or warning, the car stalled/had loss of power for about 1-2 seconds and recovered and then about 1-2 minutes later stalled again and recovered. No dashboard lights ever came on. I thought maybe the clutch was failing again. I immediately got off the freeway to find a safe place to call for tow. As I drove to parking lot, my motor made a loud, uncoordinated, rattling noise which is towards the left side and near the engine cover. I thought it might be the serpentine tensioner because only the belt only had been replaced in May 2024. The rattle gets louder with high RPMs. After reviewing service records, oil change on 04/18/24 is the first mention of valve cover leak, and oil change 12/23/24 indicates possible rear main...

I was on the highway with moderate traffic. My car would no longer accelerate due to a blown head gasket out of nowhere, I was on the far left lane and had to traverse over 5 lanes in moderate traffic while other drivers on the highway were going 60+ mph. This is a common issue among Honda Accords with the 1.5 engines.

My vehicle was purchased in 2021. It is a 2018 Honda Accord Touring model. The engine is a 1.5TRG. My current mileage is 88,405. About three weeks ago, my mom drove my car to the store and the dash lit up. By this I mean that the dash lights lit up for check engine light, lane mitigation, oil, etc. She was less than 5 minutes from the house and immediately drove back and parked the car. Mind you, I've driven a car with a blown head gasket. It smoked, temperature gage would show that the vehicle was hot, etc. My car never showed any signs that the vehicle was exhibiting or about to run hot or any other engine issues. At a later time, maybe a week later, I attempted to drive the car and it sputtered and barely wanted to take off. I parked it. My service appointment was...

1. The head gasket on my 2018 Accord LX 1.5t was lifting and causing a leak of coolant to enter cylinder #3 and therefore burned one of the valves within the cylinder. 2. Safety issues that I experienced was the car stalling randomly while driving causing me to have to pull over in unsafe locations. 3. A Honda dealership has confirmed the burnt cylinder valve and recommended a head gasket and cylinder valve replacement. 4. No police or insurance agency has inspected the vehicle/parts, only a Honda dealership and private mechanic. 5. The were all the dashboard lights that came on but the car had stalled immediately after without much time to prepare.

honda has yet to fix the fuel pump issue after issuing recall on the fuel pump over a year ago. I've been by the Honda dealership numerous times trying to get this recall fixed. Now i am having many issues with my car and i can't even drive it at this point. The Honda dealership told me that I have a cracked head which has caused may other issues. There is known issues with the 2018 Honda accord 1.5t that Honda has to even acknowledge. There wasn't an accident thankfully quick thinking on my behalf. There are many issues that Honda had refused to acknowledge and as single woman living off one check and still paying for my car, recently fired because it's now hard for me to get to work because i do not make enough to uber to work and pay my monthly bill it's caused me many...

My head gasket is blown. It blown while I was driving down the road, it went into limp mode. I took it to the dealership and got it inspected. My car kept running hot, it also keep losing speed and lights on the dashboard.
#11630457 |
Head Gasket failure. This causes the car to begin misfiring/stalling while accelerating. This is seriously dangerous. It happens when you are accelerating. Then, since it's an emission/misfire issue, the car goes into limp mode and forces the car to no longer exceed the limp mode speed, which is usually like 30 or 35 mph.The stark difference from highway speed resulted in me almost getting rear-ended by a semi. This has happened to me on two different occasions and posses a legit safety concern for everyone. You can do a simple 2-second Google search and find an insane amount of people having the exact same issue. I am luckily trained in high stress and ooo shit scenarios, so I was able to successfully get the car off the road without dying or getting smoked by a semi or driver not expecting the car that just entered the highway to drastically be...

The first recall email I got was on 12/19/23, in January 2024 I realized I started to have an issue with my fuel pump. So I called my local Honda dealership to get the part replaced at that point they said they didn’t have to part and to check back in a few months. I was told I could use fuel pump cleaner in the meantime to help my car’s performance until I can get it replaced. I called again in May they still didn’t have the part so they said to call back in the fall they should have the parts by then. At this point I’ve been having to put fuel cleaner in my car weekly in order for it to be drivable. 9/10/24 I called the dealership they tell me to call back the next day. 9/11/24 they still didnt have the part and I’m on a...

At 59/k miles the fuel injectors have all got to be replaced at a cost of 1700. I bought a Honda for reliability. I am learning now online that the fuel injectors on the 2018 Honda Accord are a major problem but there is no recall.
#11627273 |
My 2018 Honda Accord with just 81k miles had its head gasket blown. The car has never been modified and I don't drive it hard. I was driving on the highway this past weekend (11/22/2024), and the car went into limb mode and stalled me on the highway. The check engine light started flashing and other lights on the dashboard all came on at once It started misfiring sporadically, so I took it took Honda and they told me due to Engine faulty design, the coolant is leaking into the combustion chamber and flooding the spark plugs, causing misfires. The service advisor at the Honda dealer mentioned that many customers with the same engine are experiencing this exact issue, and that it's only covered under extended warranty, otherwise I would have to pay out of pocket, I was quoted $5700

My head gasket and yes it’s available as long as the shops local. Can’t really drive it also I put fuel because a part of the problem is Honda recommending running 87 for fuel in manual and for a turbo car with direct injection that is part of the reason that’s causing this too happen too soo many 1.5t Accords! As far as safety it’s very dangerous, I went into limp mode multiple times on the highway and when that happens losing power on the highway is dangerous but having to pull over on the side of the highway is VERY dangerous!! Yes it has happened over and over and goes into limp mode just about everytime driven and yes a dealer has seen it. Yes every time it’s happened the dash lights up like a Christmas tree with check engine light! It started in Sept!!

I was attempting to accelerate on the acceleration ramp to merge into traffic on the interstate, when my vehicle began violently jerking, and suddenly lost all power. My check engine light came on and it went into limp mode. This has happened twice now. Both times I was able to make it safely into the shoulder of the road with my hazard lights on. I turned the vehicle off, reset it, and have had to drive it since. The warning lights are on and off, depending. They’ve had since December of 2023 to release a recall and they haven’t yet. I need a remedy.

Vehicle engine stalled under acceleration and would not go over 7 mph. Had to pull over and turn car off.
#11625274 |
on going issues with 1.5 t direct injection issue with major blown head gaskets. my head gasket now has blown and causes a serious safety issue with limp mode no power. All warning light where on and i was in a turn lane on a major highway and when i took off car limp mode and almost taken out by a semi truck lucky he changed lanes to avoid hitting me. Look at internet, facebook etc absolutely a ton on blown head gaskets in these 1.5t honda accords needs recall issued.

Losing coolant, told possible blown head gasket. Come to learn, this is a FREQUENT issues with the 10th gen Accords!
#11624888 |
The car was parked, I turned on the car and the whole dashboard lite up, the car wouldn't move, when it did it was really sluggish. Took to dealership and determined it was a bad head gasket with a misfire in the cylinder two. People are complaining about this issue all over the Internet, bad head gaskets prematurely blowing for 2018-2020 honda Accords
#11624936 |
Honda dealership told me that coolant has leaked into the head gasket causing my car to have a rough startup. My car never had issues until month ago.

I Have been waiting since August of 2024 to have my car repaired. I have called Honda numerous of times about my car not starting and stalling while driving. I was basically told that they will not order the part and replace until my car is fully not running at all. I was told I would have to pay for a diagnostic and for my vehicle to be towed to get looked before they can decide to order the part for my recall that is suppose to be Free. I am at the point of just taking this situation to Court.

Cam position sensor on bank 1 went out at 75k miles. Causing the vehicle to go into a sort of limp mode. The only way the issue was temporary fixed was if the battery was unplugged and plugged in again and the engine was up to operating temperature.

Blown head gasket caused me lots of stress and it put me in a very bad financial position.

I have a 2018 1.5 Touring with 94k (bought 5 years ago with 7k miles. Religiously performed all maintenance including oil changes and transmission fluid. I started having this issue on and off about 2k miles ago. This is an intermittent problem. Sometimes the car runs great with no problem...then the next time I start the car there is a rough idle and I get the shuttering/jolting/jerkiness (feels like the engine is misfiring) when the engine revs over 2.5k rpms or so. Out of habit, I typically drive in eco mode as I drive mostly highway miles. I also noticed that this is less of an issue in sport mode. If the jerkiness starts, keeping the car under 2k rpms avoids any additional jerkiness. If I accelerate, I will get one of two results: - The first is limp mode, which I can solve by pulling over, turning the car...

I’ve been trying to get my part replaced since August and I’ve been hundreds of dollars in between that time till now WASTING MONEY! And I’ve been told by 3 different dealerships that because I wasn’t experiencing what they considered major issues that they decided to not see me for the recall based off the information provided. I spoke with someone yesterday that I spoke to weeks ago about the same thing, and was told they didn’t have the part then when I asked to speak to a manager, he put me on hold and told me the part was in. I haven’t been able to drive my car since last Friday. It’s a huge inconvenience, as getting this part replaced would eliminate that issue I had to beg and threaten ppl jobs to get it replaced! But the amount of money I’ve wasted and fallen behind on MY BILLS...

The fuel pump system in my Honda Accord 2018 Lx failed causing my car engine to turn off while I was driving on the express lane which then caused my car to spin out and slam my backside of the car into the wall. I was driving alone in the car with my seatbelt on and was able to blow my horn to alert other drivers to slow down. The vehicle was only inspected by the policer officer who arrived on scene and took notes of the incident. There was no warning lamps or messages of the problem prior to the failure. I was only cognizant of this fuel pump issue from the recall letter.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the vehicle experienced a rough idle and shuddered. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle skipped and was running rough. Additionally, the vehicle experienced excessive fuel consumption and lost motive power. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs and the turbo needed to be replaced. The dealer replaced the parts; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.

The problem first started on 8-8-24 when I cranked up my car & the dashboard lit up with all of these different sensors. I called Leith Honda dealership in Aberdeen, due to that is where I take my car to be serviced at, my customer service rep (Brian) stated to wait to see if they would stay on, because of that type of car will reset itself. So later on, that day they did, go away after driving it a while. Then a sensor popped up on 8-10-24 & stayed on for just a day, then came back off again. I called again & he stated to wait again so that the car can be diagnosed, but it had cut off again. So, a few days had gone by & in the middle of driving on the highway while going 60 mph, all of the same sensors came back on...

Car lost power when trying to drive and I almost got hit by oncoming traffic. The car was fine and I had full power but all of a sudden without warning I had no power . I shut the car off and it was fine again. The car is at dealer and it turns out it is a bad (blown)head gasket. The service advisor stated it’s a well known problem with the 1.5 liter engine, in fact he, he stated they had six Honda accord 1.5 liter cars at the dealership with the same problem.

During regular driving, the vehicle engine will stall and lose power, with 9 different warning lights coming on and ALL advanced driver assistance systems becoming disabled, and I believe ABS brakes being disabled as well. This is due to cylinder 3 misfires and the problem is intermittent, but the loss of power can come on randomly and is dangerous on highways as you have to pull over due to the sudden loss of engine power, restart the car, and hope the problem temporarily goes away. The L15BE engine used in 10th gen Accord engines is widely known to have a faulty engine block design leading to EARLY head gasket leaks (see links) which results in misfires and I think it is imperative that Honda issue a recall as thus far, they have been ignoring the pleas of the owners. I am planning on replacing the gasket ($4000 personal mechanic. Honda...

Car started not wanting to accelerate and all of the dash lights came on, thankfully it was on a rural road and not the freeway. My 20 year old daughter was driving and was so startled by what was happening the she almost went into a ditch getting to the side of the road. Hooked it up to a code machine and it said that it was misfiring so we replaced spark plugs and coils. This happened in July of this year (2024). We took it in for both of the recalls, it was a software update and a fuel pump mount replacement. In between changing plugs and coils and doing the recalls the engine started slightly shaking. The engine shaking was listed as a symptom of the bad fuel pump mount so we thought the fix for the recall would take care of the problem. We got it back...

This is the second time in a year and a half, fuel injectors went bad an were replaced and im assuming this time is same issue. The car had a little rough idle . two weeks after I purchased this vehicle the electrical system failed causing the car to drive in the ditch, Land Rover of mount Kisco, ny sold me the vehicle, after multiple attempts to find out what was going on with it, it was found that someone had rigged the electrical wiring harness and wrapped it with electrical tape and taped it down causing the electrical system to malfunction, after that was repaired in august 2023 the car veered off the road again this time hitting a speed limit sign the damage was on the side of the vehicle but the vehicle would not move at all and all the lights were on again, the police stated where the damage is on the car it should not had caused the car to do what it was doing after I explained I was just driving along and the vehicle just went its...

These Accords are an extreme safety hazzard. Experienced an instant loss of power and without any prior warning signs. Once the issue accured the vehicle was impossible to drive putting the vehicle occupants and everyone on the road at risk. Now Honda does not want to fix the problem because they feel that would be an admission of guilt. This is not the first I've heard of this issue with these vehicles and I'm sure it will not be the last please help push these vehicles for a safety recall before more people get hurt.

My head gasket went out while I was driving down the road at around 68425 miles. The result was that the car threw a bunch of error codes and went into limp mode while on the highway. I was fortunately able to pull off into a parking lot due to low traffic at that time of day but it was a major road that is full of vehicles during a busy time of day. This was a safety issue because my car effectively lost power and I was stuck coasting on a road where traffic regularly travels between 45-50+ mph. The head gasket failure was confirmed by the local Honda dealer and was replaced under warranty (certified pre-owned).

3 days and 26 miles after picking up my car following the repair for the issue reported in NHTSA issue #11614854, my car again displayed a bunch of various errors on the dashboard and threw P0300, P0301, and P0304 codes via OBDII. I dropped off the car at the dealership and they report that the issue this time is bad fuel injectors. This car has now had 2 major premature powertrain failures before reaching 70k miles that can result in loss of power while operating the vehicle. Losing power on the highway is a serious safety issue so I wanted to report this to the NHTSA for your records.

My 2018 Honda Accord 1.5 turbo (original owner) 77,000 miles. Started having numerous warning lights on dash and vehicle was violently shaken. On several occasions, vehicle had no acceleration over 10mph which caused me to have several close calls on the highway. Took it to Honda dealer and they stated that I had a blown head gasket and the repairs would cost five thousand eight hundred dollars! Unfortunately i have read numerous posts on Honda forums and hundreds of customers with the same vehicle year and model are also reporting the same problems. Honda will not pay for any repairs since it is past warranty. This needs to be upgraded to a recall by Honda, very upset customer!

The car is not starting properly, it takes a couple of tries to start, and the instrument panel lights come on. It appears that the Honda dealership in Doylestown PA does not have the part needed to repair my car and my safety is at risk and I don't feel comfortable driving the car. Can you please advise the dealership's responsibility in providing me a loaner car until the part is available? I have an appointment next week where I will leave the car until the part is available.

Did routine maintenance on it and changed water pump . I’ve never had this many issues with a car and I’m quiete upset. The years of head ache is never ending.
