WHEN PUT IN PARK, I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND IT SAYS TO PUT IT IN PARK. IT'S IN PARK, AND WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR, THE HORN SOUNDS BECAUSE IT THINKS IT ISN'T IN PARK, BUT WHY WOULD IT LET ME OUT OF THE CAR, AND LOCK IT IF IT WASN'T IN PARK?
SHIFT TO PARK NOT ENGAGING INTO PARK POSITION,IT WAS STATIONARY
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAYS "SHIFT TO PARK" EVEN AFTER PUTTING THE CAR ON PARKING. BECAUSE OF THIS, DRIVER CAN BE STRANDED, UNABLE TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF WHICH MAY DRAIN BATTERY, OR EVEN VEHICLE MAY ROLL OVER IF THE VEHICLE WASN'T PARKED PROPERLY BECAUSE OF THIS. GM SHOULD EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE TO ALL THE VEHICLE OWNERS SO THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO PARK. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO NEUTRAL AND APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE TO PARK THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED DUE TO PLACING THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHEVROLET BUICK GMC OF MURFREESBORO (960 JOHN R RICE BLVD, MURFREESBORO, TN 37129) WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CONTINUE TO USE THE METHOD UNTIL THEY WERE ABLE TO REVIEW THE VEHICLE ON THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT DATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
MY 2017 HAD A SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE. WHEN PARKED AND THE CAR IS IN "PARK" THE CAR WILL SAY "SHIFT TO PARK" WHICH CAUSES YOU NOT TO BE ABLE TO LOCK THE CAR, OR TO MAKE SURE THE CAR WILL NOT ROLL AWAY. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND HAD ALL COMPONENTS REPLACED, HOWEVER THEY INFORMATION ME THAT THIS WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AS THE PARTS ARE MADE INCORRECTLY, SO UNFORTUNATELY IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AT SOME POINT. MY SECOND ISSUE WITH THE ACADIA IS WHEN YOU ARE IN CRUSE CONTROL, THE CAR WILL AUTOMATICALLY APPLY THE BREAKS (ABRUPTLY AND HARD) FOR NO REASON. GMC SAYS THAT IT COULD BE WHEN THE SENSORS GET DIRTY OR OVERHEAT, HOWEVER IT MAKES YOU VERY UNEASY KNOWING YOUR BREAKS CAN MASH ON AT ANYTIME BY THEMSELVES WHEN YOU ARE USING THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM.

THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THREE TIMES TO GARLYN SHELTON BUICK GMC (5625 S GENERAL BRUCE DR, TEMPLE, TX 76502, (254) 598-4128) AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFTER BOOT AND SHIFTER PIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
CAR STATES 'ACTION REQUIRED, SHIFT TO PARK' WHEN SHIFTER IS IN PARK AND CAR IS TURNED OFF, CAUSING ME TO BE STRANDED IN MY CAR. ACCESSORIES STAY ON AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK.
VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED THE SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE THAT DOESN'T ALLOW THE SUV TO BE TURNED OFF WHEN ACTUALLY IN PARK. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE.
MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AFTER I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. KEPT GETTING MESSAGES THAT SAID "SHIFT TO PARK" WHEN IT WAS ALREADY IN PARK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SHIFT MECHANISM AND THE WIRING HARNESS AT MY EXPENSE.
WHEN SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF AFTER PLACING IN PARK THE DISPLAY PANEL SHOWS A MESSAGE TELLING DRIVER TO SHIFT TO PARK. THE VEHICLE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF BUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WON'T SHUT DOWN UNTIL THE BATTERY PROTECTION TIMER SHUTS EVERYTHING OFF. DOORS DON'T WANT TO LOCK BUT WILL EVENTUALLY AS WELL. THIS OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT 18 MONTHS OLD AND THE DEALER MADE A REPAIR CONSISTENT WITH THE MANUFACTURERS TSB THAT WAS ISSUED. THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE DEALER IS TRYING TO GET GM TO PARTICIPATE IN THE REPAIR BUT IT'S BEEN 3 WEEKS WITH NO ANSWERS.

THE CONTACT RESEARCHED AND DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V516000 (POWER TRAIN) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED JONES MOTOR COMPANY (545 FLORENCE RD, SAVANNAH, TN 38372) AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THAT DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE HAD TO PAY A DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT DECLINED THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V516000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,680. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED.
THE 2017 GMC ACADIA I OWN WILL NOT RECOGNIZE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. IT STATES TO MOVE TO PARK TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ALREADY IN PARK. THIS HAPPENS WHEN TRYING TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE BUT I AM UNABLE TO BECAUSE OF THE "SHIFT TO PARK" WARNING. I HAVE TO PUSH THE STICK FORWARD AND TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE MESSAGE TO DISAPPEAR. HAD THIS FIXED BY GMC BUT THEY REFUSED TO COVER UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RIVERHEAD BUICK GMC DEALER LOCATED AT 1423 OLD COUNTRY RD, RIVERHEAD, NY 11901, WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHO REPLACED AN UNKNOWN PART IN THE GEAR SHIFTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000.
SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE ON THE INFO PANEL AND CAR DID NOT GO INTO PARK AND BEGAN ROLLING AWAY. HAD TO TURN CAR BACK ON TO SHIFT INTO PARK. ON OCCASION, IT REQUIRES MULTIPLE START/STOPS. THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT IF YOU THINK YOU'RE IN PARK THE VEHICLE CAN ROLL AND POTENTIALLY HURT SOMEONE BECAUSE IT'S NOT ACTUALLY IN PARK. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED.
THE "SHIFT TO PARK" WARNING MESSAGE SHOWS UP AND WON'T PERMIT CAR TO BE SHUTOFF. VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND AT REST AND IS PLACED IN "PARK" AS DESIGNATED BY SHIFT LEVER LIGHT AND DASHBOARD INDICATORS, AND THE AUTO DOOR UNLOCK FEATURE ACTIVATED CORRECTLY WHEN PLACED IN PARK. ON 9/21/20, IT TOOK ME ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF TRYING DIFFERENT POSITIONS AND BY PHYSICALLY MOVING VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT PARKING SPACE . PROBLEM OCCURS SPORADICALLY. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED A TOTAL OF ABOUT 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS BUT NOT AS SEVERE AS THIS LAST TIME. VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED 11/2019, WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY WITH 10,062 MILES FOR THE SAME ISSUE IN WHICH THE DEALER REPLACED A SHIFTER HARNESS. NOW, 9/21/20, 10 MONTHS LATER, AND 12,400 MILES, THE SAME PROBLEM HAS RE-EMERGED. THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING OR ENGINEERING DEFECT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, FILED A CASE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,950.
WHENEVER I SHIFT THE VEHICLE TO PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE, A MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED THAT SAYS 'ACTION REQUIRED SHIFT TO PARK.' TO PARK SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I CAN GET OUT OF THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE NOW. THE FIRST TIME THE FIX DIDN'T WORK AND THE SECOND TIME WAS JUST YESTERDAY SO TIME WILL TELL.

THIS IS THE 2ND TIME, FIXES IN MARCH 2019. NOW HAVING SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I PUT THE SUV IN PARK I GET AND ERROR MESSAGE 'SHIFT TO PARK'. ACCORDING TO GMC THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BUT NO RECALL. OF COURSE DEALER WILL NOT COVER COST SINCE IT WAS REPAIRED OVER A YEAR AGO. VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY ALREADY SO I ALREADY PAID OVER $330 TO HAVE REPAIRED ONCE. GMC WILL OFFER NO HELP. SOMETIMES TAKES ME AS MANY AS 10 TIMES TURNING VEHICLE ON AND OFF BEFORE I CAN GET THE VEHICLE TO CLEAR THE MESSAGE.
WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THE CAR ACTS AS IF IT IS NOT IN PARK, AND TELLS YOU TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. AT THIS POINT, IT WILL NOT SHUT OFF
MY 2017 GMC ACADIA WITH 40,000 MILES ON IT HAS BEEN SAYING 'SHIFT TO PARK' WHEN I TRY TO TURN IT OFF. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO TURN OFF AND BE SAFELY IN PARK IS TO CONTINUOUSLY TURN IT BACK ON SHIFT TO REVERSE OR DRIVE MOVE THE CAR A FEW FEET AND TRY AGAIN. IT CONTINUES TO TAKE MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE ONLY THING TO 'FIX IT' GMC CLAIMS IS TO REPLACE A LEVER AND THAT TAKES 5-6 HOURS AT 135$ AN HOUR AND 2 150$ PARTS. IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS YOU EITHER CANNOT GET THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND HAVE IT SAFELY STUCK OR IT WILL CONTINUE TO STAY ON AND POSSIBLE ROLL AWAY. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF FORUMS AND POSTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND EVEN THE PEOPLE WHO GOT IT 'FIXED' STILL HAVE ISSUES....
WITH VEHICLE STATIONARY, I ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN "PARK" AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THE DASHBOARD INFORMATION SCREEN DISPLAYED THE MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK" AND WOULD NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO FULLY SHUT DOWN (HEADLIGHTS REMAINED ON) EVEN THOUGH THE SHIFT KNOB WAS IN "PARK" AS WELL AS "P" DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD SCREEN. THE ELECTRONIC EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS INOPERABLE AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE AT RISK OF ROLLING AWAY. THIS LEFT ME STRANDED WITH THE VEHICLE AND UNABLE TO REMOVE MYSELF FROM IT.

DEALER REPLACED WIRING HARNESS FEB 2020, MESSAGE STARTED APPEARING AGAIN WITHIN THE LAST WEEK (JULY 5 2020)

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO PARK, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS NOT MOVING. CANNOT TURN VEHICLE OFF WHILE THIS MESSAGE IS BEING DISPLAYED. CANNOT LOCK/SECURE VEHICLE WHILE THIS MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED.
VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO PARK SO YOU CAN TURN OFF VEHICLE AND EXIT CAR. CANNOT SECURE VEHICLE. WHAT IS IS GOING TO TAKE TO GET THIS PROBLEM RECALLED? BEGINNING IN MAY, 2020, MY ACADIA STARTED SAYING "SHIFT TO PARK" WHEN I WOULD TRY TO SHUT IT OFF, ALTHOUGH IT IS IN PARK. IT HAS INCREASINGLY GOTTEN WORSE AND IT NOW HAPPENS EVERY DAY. THIS MORNING. I RECEIVE A 'SHIFT TO PARK' WARNING MESSAGE WHEN MY VEHICLE IS CLEARLY IN THE PARK POSITION AND IT PREVENTS MY CAR FROM BEING ABLE TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF. I HAVE HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED AT THE GMC DEALERSHIP ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND IT IS NOW GIVING ME THE SAME ERROR. I AM NOW NO LONGER ABLE TO OPEN MY GARAGE DOOR FROM MY VEHICLE, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES IN WHICH THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE EITHER ONE OF MY KEY FOBS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER SHIFTING THE GEAR SELECTOR TO THE PARK POSITION, A MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHICH STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN THE PARK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE CAUSED THE BATTERY TO BECOME DRAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GREENBROOK GMC LOCATED AT 101 US 22 GREENBROOK, TOWNSHIP NJ WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED BEFORE RESPONDING WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
WHEN GOING TO TURN THE CAR OFF AFTER IT'S SHIFTED INTO PARK THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY DISPLAYS A WARNING THAT SAYS "SHIFT INTO PARK". MY ACADIA WILL NOT TURN OFF WHEN PLACED IN PARK. THERE IS A SENSOR ON THE TRANSMISSION THAT TELLS THE VEHICLE THAT IT IS IN PARK AND ALLOW IT TO TURN OFF. I HAD THIS REPAIRED ONCE UNDER WARRANTY, NOW IT HAS HAPPENED FOR THE SECOND TIME. IT IS AN OBVIOUS ISSUE THAT WARRANTS A RECALL. IF THE VEHICLE HAPPENS TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF, WITH THIS WARNING, THE ELECTRONICS STAY ON AND DRAIN YOUR BATTERY UNLESS YOU START THE VEHICLE AND THEN SHIFT FROM PARK TO OTHER GEARS AND BACK TO PARK SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE ENGINE AND ELECTRONICS WILL SHUT OFF. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME WHEN WE TOOK IT THE FIRST TIME THAT THEY HAD SEVERAL OF THESE REPLACED ALREADY. *TR
THE VEHICLE, WHEN PLACED IN PARK. GIVES A MESSAGE THAT YOU NEED TO SHIFT TO PARK. YOU CAN'T TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. NOR IS IT ALWAYS IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL. IT TAKES SEVERAL TRIES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RECOGNIZE IT IS IN PARK. THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. THE VEHICLE HAS 21000 MILES. *TR
WHEN VEHICLE IS IN PARK, CAR STILL READS SHIFT TO PARK. CAR WILL BEEP EVEN IF YOU GET OUT AND EVEN AFTER SHUTTING OFF VEHICLE AND TURNING BACK ON. *TR

THE CAR WOULD BE STATIONARY. I WOULD PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN TURN OFF THE CAR. THE DASH DISPLAY SHOWED AN ERROR THAT THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS. THE CAR WOULD NOT COMPLETELY TURN OFF BECAUSE OF THIS. I TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES, SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF PARK. ONE TIME, THE CAR HAD TO BE TURNED ON AND OFF 10 TIMES BEFORE IT FINALLY REGISTERED THAT IT WAS IN PARK. THE CAR IS STATIONARY THE WHOLE TIME DURING THIS PROCESS. EVENTUALLY, THE CAR WOULD REGISTER THAT IT WAS INDEED IN PARK AND COMPLETELY TURN OFF AS DESIRED. THIS WOULD HAPPEN ALMOST EVERY TIME THE CAR WAS DRIVEN AND THEN PARKED. I CALLED MY LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP EXPLAINING THIS. THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR SAID THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE SHIFTER/TRANSMISSION CONTROLLER ON ACADIAS OF MY YEAR MODEL. MY...
THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFTER IS GETTING LOOSE AND A CONSTANT FROM THE CAR COMPUTER ASKING THE DRIVER TO SHIFT TO PARK WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF WHILE THE GEAR SHIFTER IS ON PARK AND THE CAR IS STATIONARY. *TR

SHIFT TO PARK - THIS IS ROUND TWO (2) THAT THIS HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED!! THIS IS ROUND TWO (2) OF TRANSMISSION CONTROL REPLACEMENT - WHICH WORRIES ME THAT OTHER TRANSMISSION ISSUES WILL OCCUR. IF YOU EXIT THE CAR WHY THE MESSAGE IS ON DASHBOARD, THE HORN WILL CHIRP AT YOU, AND THE VEHICLE IS NOT STABLE, IF IT IS ON A DECLINE IT WILL ROLL, THE RADIO STAYS ON ETC. I FOUND A GM SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS, STATING THE PART TO BE REPLACED FOR THE ACADIA WAS 13528228. I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPT WITH THE LOCAL GM DEALER TO HAVE THIS LOOKED AT.
