2017 GMC ACADIA Fuelpropulsion System Problems

Shift to Park light remains on after you’ve put the car in “park” which could potentially run the battery down. Car does not recognize when it is in “park”. Have to “jiggle” the gear a bit, in hopes that it turns off.

I’m just reporting several known issues. First, with code P2138, which I got today at Oreilly after my car started throwing warnings. I used my parking brake briefly and afterwards got the following warnings on my car: “Steering Assist is Reduced, Drive with care”, “Engine power reduced” , “Propulsion Power is reduced” , “Service Parking Brake”. I’ve never even had one of these warnings. I’ve only gotten “shift to park” which is another known & common issue. With this P2138 code, it can affect acceleration and essentially loss of control over it, but seems I suddenly have several issues. Recently the infotainment system is possessed, touch screen stops working, it calls people by itself, beeps and scrolls by itself and is essentially useless. While highway driving, engine suddenly lost power and car could not exceed 5 mph. Was able to get off at next exit and get to a local garage. Mechanic inspected. Bolt connecting high pressure fuel pump to cylinder sheared off leaving bolt body in cylinder, bending fuel pump and caused oil to spray over entire engine compartment. Repair unlikely. Engine will likely need to be replaced. Car has always been maintained. No indication of failure prior to incident.

GM issued Special coverage N192210240 for repair/replacement of the evaporative emissions purge valve because it may not fully close. The special coverage states that the dealer is to replace the part at no cost to the customer as necessary until 150,000 miles or 11/12/2026 whichever occurs first. Since owning the vehicle in question I have had this particular part replaced three (3) times, approximately every 20,000 miles. Each time this particular part fails my check engine light is illuminated, my vehicle stalls immediately after refueling, my garage and home quickly fill with emission fumes upon starting the vehicle, and the vehicle idles rough when stopping. The GM dealership replaced the part the first 2 times it failed at no cost to me stating that it was covered under GM Special Coverage, but the third and most recent time refused to honor the special coverage. I was traveling at the posted speed limit of 80 mph on [XXX] in South Dakota at [XXX] and the GMC Acadia was working without any issue when all of a sudden various warnings flashed on the dashboard with one of them being power saver mode engaged. Within about 3 minutes various other warnings flashed and the vehicle motor turned off along with all of the electrical systems. Luckily, I was able to maneuver the GMC Acadia to the shoulder of the highway safely. The vehicle would not start and for about a minute or so we were trapped in the Acadia. We could not unlock the doors or wind down the windows until I pressed the start/stop bottom several times. Onstar did not work either. At roughly 50,000 there is a transmission line leak in the vehicle. GM has already recalled 2018-2020 model-year GMC Acadia SUVs and other models for this problem due to risk of fire. Whether it is the same cause or not, such a problem leads to the same risk.

STARTING VEHICLE AFTER 10 HOURS OF VEHICLE NOT RUNNING, THE VEHICLE CRANKS/HAS A DELAYED START FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 TO 8 SECONDS. BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND START WAS CHECK AND ALL WAS IN WORKING ORDER. I WAS TOLD THE ISSUE MAY BE A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP, DUE TO THE ENGINE LOSING FUEL PRESSURE AFTER NOT RUNNING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME.

WE PURCHASED A 2017 ACADIA AWD SLT ON DECEMBER 28, 2017. THERE WAS A RECALL ON GM BULLETIN #19-NA-206 FOR (SHIFT TO PARK) ISSUE. DEALER MICHAEL HOHL GMC 3700 S CARSON ST, CARSON CITY, NV 89701 ORDERED PART BUT WAS NOT INSTALLED UNTIL 1/13/20. DAY AFTER REPAIRS, FUELED CAR AND GAS GAUGE WOULD SHOW THREE QUARTERS FULL. THE FUEL RANGE ALSO BOUNCES UP AND DOWN AND IS NOT ACCURATE. IS THIS A GM RECALL ISSUE? MY CAR IS NOW OUT OF THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY TO REPAIR THIS GAS GAUGE PROBLEM. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT WE MIGHT RUN OUT OF FUEL DUE TO FAULTY GAS GAUGE READING OR WAS THIS A PROBLEM CREATED BY R/R IN-LINE SHIFTER WIRE HARNESS JUMPER. CAR WAS AT DEALER FOR REPAIR (IN WARRANTY) @ 27,762 UNDER MILEAGE AND IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO THREE YEAR TIME SPAN. NOW @27,784 MILES.

OCT 23, 2019 WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BRING OUR CAR FOR A SERVICE BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE IS ON BUT BEFORE WE EVEN GET TO THE DEALER THE CAR WON'T START. WE HAVE TO CALL FOR A TOWING COMPANY. WHEN WE GET THERE THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG. WE CALLED GMC COMPLAINT BEFORE WE GOT AN ANSWER WITH THE DEALER ON OCT 30 THEY SAID ITS A FUEL PUMP RECALL. SINCE THEN WE HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THEM. IT WILL 6 WEEKS THIS WEEK. WE JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR AS CERTIFIED PRE OWNED LAST APRIL 2019 NOW WE CANT'T USE IT AND NO UPDATES AT ALL. WE DON'T KNOW WHEN WILL HAVE OUR CAR BACK.

2 INSTANCES WITHIN A 2 WEEK PERIOD. ON 12/13/2017 VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN AND ENGINE POWER IS LOST AND CAR TURNS OFF WE HAD TO PULL OVER SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN TRYING TO RESTART THE CAR IT SPUTTERS AND WONT START.. 2ND INSTANCE ON 12/24/2017 CAR WAS ONCE CAR WAS PUT IN GEAR IT STALLED WOULD NOT RESTART OR EVEN TURN OVER. DEALER REPLACED BATTERY AND FUEL PUMP REGULATOR MODULE THE 1ST TIME. 2ND TIME DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.

THE GAS GAUGE INDICATOR SHOWED 90 MILES UNTIL EMPTY, BUT WAS ACTUALLY EMPTY. THIS OURRED DURING A FAMILY TRIP FROM NORTHERN CALIFORNIA TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. WE RAN OUT OF GAS ON TOP OF THE GRAPEVINE. FINALLY, AFTER A 3 HOUR WAIT, ROAD SERVICE BROUGHT GAS AND WE WERE ON OUR WAY TO THE NEAREST GAS STATION.
