2012 FORD FUSION Unknown Or Other Problems

The door locks on the driver and passenger doors open on their own and not working properly. Car has 53000 original miles. It is just like the problem that are in the recall of the 2014 and 2015 Ford Fusion. The latch on both doors are independently sprung in open mode. One incident where the driver door opened while driving.

Power steering service, advancetrac warning and symbol on dash light came on as a message when car was shut off and restarted there was no power steering

The electric power steering assist (EPSA) function of the car is no longer functional. It is available for inspections upon request. The vehicle began intermittently losing power steering when the vehicle would start. The problem can now be re-produced each time the vehicle is started. The problem is a known issue with this model Ford Fusion and was part of a previous recall. This vehicle was serviced by the Ford dealership during the times the recall was in place and had the EPSA re-programmed. The issue still persists, and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. The recall is no longer in effect and Ford will not remedy the issue.

Transmission issues. Jerks and shudders and loss of power, broken motor mounts, PCM issues, misfire issues and etc. Car threw codes, many expensive trips to Ford dealerships, excessive undriveable down time, unsafe to be on a highway or go up a hill when it shifts (automatic), 6F35 Transmission in my 2012 Ford Fusion

A few days ago, I drove my car to college and on my way there, a message about the Service Advancetrac popped up on the dashboard. I parked my car, and when I was done with my classes, I returned to my car and turned the ignition on. At that point, another message appeared on the dashboard: SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW, and my steering wheel became hard to maneuver. Despite the difficulty, I was able to drive home safely.

AIR BAG LIGHT RECALL

I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND EVER SENSE I GOT TIRE FIXED MY TRANCTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I CALLED ABOUT THE RECALL BUT THEY SAID MY CAR WASNT COVERED .. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY FORD ISNT FIXING THEM CAUSE FROM WHAT IVE READ ALOT OF FORDS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND IM ON A FIXED INCOME HOW WILL I AFFORD TO FIX MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPARTATION?

The braking system failed. Yes it’s available upon request for inspection. The safety of myself and others were put at risk because it caused me to hit something in front of me. I stepped on the brakes and the pedal went straight to the floor. This has happened multiple times it is putting my safety as well as my children’s safety at risk. When I step on the brake pedal there is nothing goes to the floor till I pump the pedal. Initial Lu when hitting the pedal it jerks the steering wheel out of my hand to the right every time. It’s not only putting my children’s, and my self in harms way but any other driver that might be even near me while driving considering it takes the steering wheel out of my hand uncontrollably.

Door handle failures (inside the vehicle) are very well documented and very well known to break off the mechanism required to open the door. This isn't just a minor annoyance, it is a MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD, caused by either poor design, poor materials, poor process control, poor validation testing, poor part quality or poor management in concealing this as not being worthy of a recall. How many lives are you willing to risk before doing a recall? The problem has been well known & documented for well over a decade, and it is still happening in the field. If someone has not died from this door lever failure it is only a matter of time. My family's lives are in jeopardy every time we drive this vehicle with a known likelihood of the door handles failing to open the door. You may not be able to open any other door,...

Did not put car into park and was able to turn key fully back and remove the key from the off position. Car started rolling on slight incline. No issues other than rain sensor wipers not always working, so maybe an issue in column. Have not taken to dealership or mechanic yet.

My drivers side door handle will only work from the outside I was told to contact the highway safety admin because it’s technically a safety issue if I had and emergency and had to hurry up and exit my vehicle. It’s like jammed or something and doesn’t lock until I manually lock an lock my door but I’m unable to get out from the inside safety and I was already in a car accident once in my life I would really like to get my door handle fixed please

Power Steering Assist Fault and Service Advancetrack error codes appear on the digital dash display. Power steering does not work. The Ford dealership the vehicle was bought at and is serviced at allowed me to drive out of the lot in the car's current state because the vehicle is 7 months out of the extended warranty 10-year recall.

Driver’s side door latch/handle suddenly became unoperational from the interior of the vehicle. This is a safety hazard — after struggling with the handle to get out of the vehicle, my wife resorted to climbing over the console and exiting out the passenger door. Called local Ford dealer and they say because the 2012 door latch is not under recall, they won’t replace the handle without us paying parts and labor. They expressed no interest in exploring this safety issue short of us bankrolling the cost, despite the fact that there are recalls for this same safety defect on Fusions in other production years. The 2012 door latch should be recalled. The handle is toast - we cannot exit our Fusion out the driver’s door. We are ordering a part to replace the latch, performing the labor ourselves.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the power steering assist failed, and the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver. The contact pulled over and parked the vehicle in a parking lot where it remained. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering) had expired for the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 194,790.

Started the vehicle, immediately received a prompt informing me that the power steering needed to be serviced. The steering wheel is completely stiff, rendering the vehicle inoperable. According to NHSTA, there was a recall issued for this issue however my VIN number does not fall under the recall. Initial estimates range from 1500, to 2000. It is a known issue for 2012 ford fusions, yet my vehicle does not qualify for the recall. Which seems very unreasonable.

Electric power steering assist fault. Had power steering one minute and the next minute it is extremely difficult to steer. Called Ford and told them the issue. They said that the recall for this had been done already. They downloaded new programming, but never changed the part. Then they put an extended manufacturer warranty to 150,000 miles. Incident happened just over the extended warranty period and have done research on many complaints about the same issue. Ford refuses to do anything about it and repair costs are over $2,000.00. This is extremely dangerous and may cause serious injury or even death at higher speeds. Luckily no one was hurt this time.

Power Steering Assist Fault. When attempting to operate vehicle, it would not allow for steering. This put my entire family at risk for accident.

The powersteering fault was never taken care of when we went to get it fixed at the dealership. We had taken it in because it was a recall error and because the fault "didn't show up" when they were trying to fix it they said that they couldn't do anything about it and returned the car to us in less than one day which the work that was actually required would have taken longer to do. We didn't know what to do or how else to complain but now the vehicle is permanently stuck with this error and wont budge.

Loss of steering control, not able to steer, steering wheel would not turn without using great force. After engine stop and restart, the dash lamps were illuminated: Fault Lamp = Service Power Steering Now Fault Lamp = Service Advancetrac System Problem happened during a vacation road trip in the mountains of Kentucky. The vacation was interrupted. The car towed to Greenwood Ford dealership in Bowling Green KY. Fault not covered under recall or warranty. Steering rack replaced at a cost of $3200. Ouch. will it happen again? Dealer could not return failed parts to me without additional $1500 core charge paid by me. We also paid towing and rental car costs. The same failure is happening to many 2012 Ford Fusions.

Our 2012 Ford Fusion began displaying a “POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT” summer of 2021. We did not record the 1st instance of this fault, but began recording subsequent instances on 7/25, 10/18, 10/20, 10/21 On 10/21 the vehicle also displayed “SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC.” We were unable to steer the car when the fault occurred, although we were able to put it in reverse or drive, which seems extremely dangerous. Fortunately, these instances occurred while parked. The vehicle ignition was turned off and restarted, which cleared the fault & power steering resumed. This vehicle had less than 69,000 on Aug 4, 2021 when taken to Courtesy Ford in Portland, OR where the vehicle was purchased to replace the driver side airbag under recall notice received in the mail. The power steering goes out and a warning message comes on saying power steering assist fault. Called a Ford dealership and they said there was no recall for this.

Driver passenger side door would not open from the interior requiring the driver to roll down the window and open the car door from the external handle

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after parking and exiting the vehicle, the vehicle was rolling away. The contact jumped back into the vehicle and restarted the vehicle and then depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. In addition, the contact noticed that the shifter was in park however, the gear shift indicator displayed that the vehicle was in reverse. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact who is a mechanic, diagnosed that the shifter cable needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

On 1/25/21 the vehicle power steering completely locked up and the car was towed to Ford dealership for fix. Ford fixed and car was picked up on 1/27/21. This happened at mileage of 67593 while my teenage son was driving putting him and his passenger in danger of an accident. On 9/13/21 once again the vehicle power steering completely locked up and the car was towed to a Ford dealership to fix and car was picked up on 9/16/21. This event happened at mileage of 74341 again while my teenage son was driving putting him and his passenger in danger of an accident. On 10/11/21 for the 3rd time the power steering went again and the car is currently at a Ford dealership to be fixed. Driver and passenger door handles are not working. Cannot open the drivers side door from the inside. Cannot lock the passenger door.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering and excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The contact also stated that the traction control, power steering, and tire pressure warning lights were illuminated. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact the same information as the dealer. The contact stated that only a software update was performed with the prior recall and that no actual repairs were performed on the power steering. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

Unknown Front driver side tire came off the car causing the vehicle to crash into a wall passenger side airbag malfunction Thankfully my girlfriend had the seat all the way to the back and was laying down when the accident occurred. Idk what would've happened if she seating down correctly. The car was unrepairible.

DEFROST/AC/VENTS BLOW OUT HOT AIR REGARDLESS OF SETTINGS...FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE ONLINE AND AN EXPENSIVE PERMANENT FIX...VENTS/DEFROST/AC MAY BE TRICKED INTO WORKING IF LIGHTS ARE TURNED ON BEFORE STARTING (THINKS IT'S NIGHTTIME OR COVER UP LIGHT SENSOR ON DASH)

POWER STEERING ASSIST CAME ON AND THE STEERING WENT OUT

THROTTLE BODY STAYS OPEND CAUSING WRENCH TO POP UP ON DASH AND CAR TO NO LONGER ACCELERATE WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.. ALSO THE THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR IS FAULTY. I'VE HAD MULTIPLE PEOPLE SAY THEY HAVE THIS EXACT ISSUE WITH THE FUSION .. NOT TO MENTION THE TENSION PULLEY MAKES THE CAR WHILE IN MANY FORD FUSION CARS...

MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING WHILE I AM EITHER DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, TURNING OR STOPPED AT A LIGHT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAYS IN NJ.

MY 2012 FORD FUSION IS REVVING HIGH AND SHIFTING WEIRD. NOT LIKE SLIPPING BUT IT'S REVVING A LOT IF HER THEN IT SHOULD BE. ALSO THE TACHOMETER SHUDDERS EVERY NOW AND THEN AT 1600 RPM. I BROUGHT THIS UNIT AT AN AUCTION, BUT THE WHEEL CONTINUES TO LOOK ON ME.... NOW SEVERAL LIGHTS ARE ON INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE.

THE INSIDE DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE BREAKS AND MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO EXIT THE CAR WITHOUT ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOW AND USING THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND MAKES EXITING THE CAR IN AN EMERGENCY DIFFICULT AND COULD LEAD TO INJURY. THIS APPEARS TO BE FAIRLY COMMON WITH THE FORD FUSION.

I STOPPED TO GET GAS, PUT MY CAR IN PARK, AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. IT STARTED ROLLING FORWARD AS I WAS TRYING TO GET OUT. I LEAPED BACK IN AND HIT THE BRAKE AND PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. AFTER THAT, THE CAR WOULDN'T START BECAUSE IT WAS REGISTERING THAT THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE EVEN THOUGH THE GEAR SHIFT WAS IN PARK. I WENT INTO THE GEAR SHIFT AREA BY PULLING OFF THE CENTER CONSOLE AND MANUALLY PUT IT IN NEUTRAL SO I COULD START THE CAR AND DROVE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND SAW THAT SIMILAR ISSUES WERE FOUND IN 2013 AND NEWER FORD FUSIONS AND THEY WERE RECALLED. I'M THINKING THE 2012 YEAR FORD FUSION SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL.

THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE CAN CAN BREAK INTERNALLY WHEN EXPOSED TO HIGH TEMPERATURES SUCH AS A HOT SUMMER DAY ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE PLASTIC USED OFF-GASES AND LOSES STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OVER TIME UNFIL FAILURE OCCURS POTENTIALLY TRAPPING A PERSON WHO IS UNABLE TO REACH THE EXTERIOR HANDLE IN THE VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH THIS IS A PATTERN OF HAPPENINGS WITH THE 2012 FORD FUSION DUE TO A CHANGE BY FORD IN DOOR HANDLE CONSTRUCTION. REPAIRS ARE OFTEN INEFFECTIVE AS IT IS REPLACED WITH A SIMILAR PART THAT FAILS IN THE SAME MANNER.

DOOR LATCH - DRIVER'S DOOR INTERIOR HANDLE - FAILED. SYMPTOMS APPEAR TO BE THE SAME FAILURE MODE REPORTED ON NUMEROUS FORD MODELS AND YEARS. THE HANDLE DOES NOT CONTROL THE DOOR. THE LOCK MECHANISM DOES NOT FUNCTION.

I HAD A LEAK UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR, STAINING MY DRIVEWAY. EVEN AFTER HAVING THE PTU REPLACED, I STILL HAD A LEAK. I ONLY REALIZED IT WAS LEAKING WHEN I HAD TO PARK IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION IN MY DRIVEWAY. I BROUGHT IT TO ANOTHER GARAGE. FOUND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION TUBE WERE RUSTED, THUS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE GARAGE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION TUBES, AND REPLACED ALL THE FLUID.

TAKATA RECALL - FORD DEALERSHIP HAS FAILED TO FIX THIS CARS AIRBAG. I'VE MADE NUMEROUS APPTS THAT HAVE EITHER BEEN CANCELLED OR FORGOTTEN BY THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO UNAVAILABLE PARTS, OR HUMAN ERROR. IVE BEEN TOLD THE PARTS WERE ON ORDER, THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE, THERE WERE FAR TOO MANY RECALLS AND THE DEALERSHIP COULDNT MERT THE DEMAND, AND ALSO COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN ALTOGETHER! DEALERSHIP WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL US TO FIX THIS AFTER FAILED APPOINTMENTS AND NEVER FOLLOWED THROUGH. MY CAR WAS JUST UPDATED WITH A $300 VALUE LOSS BECAUSE OF IT. THIS CAR IS COMPLETELY PAID OFF.

WHEN I WAS DECELERATING THE CAR WOULD VIBRATE. ONLY HAPPENED IN TOWN, NOT ON HIGHWAY. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO REPLACE THE DRIVESHAFT AND LEFT SPRING, WHICH WAS BROKEN!

TAKATA RECALL TRANMISSION SOMETIMES DOES NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY

TAKATA RECALL INCIDENT WHERE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS VEHICLE WAS JUMPING OUT OF GEAR , ONE SPECIFIC INCIDENT WHERE TWO PASSENGERS WHERE IN VEHICLE AND VEHICLE JUMPED INTO DEPARTMENT OF VEHICLE BUILDING WHILE CAR WAS IN PARKED GEAR AND POLICE REPORT WAS MADE DUE TO NO ONE PHYSICALLY IN DRIVERS SEAT.

THERE IS A GRINDING/POOPING NOISE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE WHEN TURNING. THE RECALL 15S18 WAS REPROGRAMMED ALONG RECALL 16B38 BUT THE NOISE HAS CONTINUED AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE. WHEN DRIVING SLOW AND TURNING TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT IN A PARKING LOT IT IS VERY NOTICEABLE THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE STEERING RACK.

WHEN TRYING TO OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE ON MY FUSION, THE DOOR HANDLE LET LOOSE AND I COULD NO LONGER GET OUT OF THE CAR. THE DOOR HANDLE IS APPARENTLY BROKEN. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY UNTIL LAST EVENING. APPARENTLY DOOR HANDLES ON DIFFERENT YEARS OF FUSION HAVE DONE THE SAME AND FORD REPLACED THEM. ALL OF THE CARS ARE THE EXACT SAME INTERIOR AS MINE APPEARS TO BE ON THE VIDEOS IN WHICH THIS BREAKAGE OCCURRED. I HAD JUST PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT AND HAD TO HAVE MY BOYFRIEND OPEN MY DOOR TO LET ME OUT OF THE CAR
